This place is a complete dump. Pilot / Flying J really need to have this place cleaned up. The parking lot is atrocious and the entire facility is dark beyond all belief without any real lighting at night. Very few parking spots for travelers as well. I recommend you avoid this truck stop / travel center and drive further on down the road to another location.

The staff are super friendly, quick, and always ready to help out others. Some days are a little more hectic, but that’s life for ya. Can’t do anything about that. The store is always clean and coffees brewed fresh! Not like the other bigger pilots but what does one expect from a small town? Plus, the store is literally sitting on a sink hole ROFL 🤣.

I was a little wary from the other reviews about the showers, but since this is the only truck stop in town according to Google, I took my chances. The shower was ready for me immediately and the room itself was clean. Could have done with slightly hotter water but just cause I like it reaaaaally hot. So this is a good stop, good showers, and good staff.

This is literally the sketchiest, most run down Pilot that I have ever been to (if not gas station). Trash was lying on the ground. Between the only 2 gas pumps the concrete was cut out and a 5 foot hole in the ground that was full of water and trash. Im not sure how this could have been safe or legal despite the orange cones on it.Getting in and out was a pain on a busy road, and very bump in a Class A motorhome.

Stopped here for a shower. The shower was clean the water was comfortable but could have been warmer. Staff was as friendly as could be expected.

Not like any other Pilot I have been through, most all of the pumps are for big rigs with the exception of two that are not easy to pull up to. Probably the most useless Pilot I have ever been to.

Not really a truck stop. But better than an offramp.... lots of loitering in the small dirt lot, but showers were clean and hot.

Its smaller than some of the others Ive been to, but they still have most of what you might need. They dont have ice sometimes due to everyone buys it as fast as they stock it. Plus they only have one lane for gas. All the rest are for diesel. The people are really nice and friendly.

Small pilot, no hot food bar only hot dogs and tornadoes. Not a whole lot to choose from and prices are ridiculous. Parking lot holds about 20 18 wheelers.

I was driving by needed a break from my long drive and I must say for a truck stop I got great service and a wonderful experience. Now I make it a point to stop here when I travel and this place never disappoint. They always have the things I need and are very helpful and have great customer service. I recommend if your in the area to stop by and enjoy some shopping here.

Ive never been here before and Google insists that I have, even after informing them multiple times I havent. Hopefully, if I leave a review theyll stop pestering me. I CANNOT vouch for this place in any capacity and I surely hope someone doesnt see this review and gets turned away by it. Good fuel prices and a safe environment. Has a safe place to walk the dog with bags to use for cleaning up after ones dog. I grabbed a bite to eat before continuing with my trip.

OK. Was told to get out of a spot because it was taker parking and if I didnt my truck would get damaged.Went in one day to get a shower and they literally gave it to someone else.

Finally got some diesel and a cup of coffee but easily the worst Pilot Ive been in anywhere in the country. Half the truck lanes were closed and most of the rest didnt have a working satellite pump which means it may be difficult to fuel your RV if it fuels from the passenger side. Inside, the store could use some TLC.

Unexceptional with a friendly staff. The lights inside are nauseating, I feel bad for the people working here. Theres no real restaurant here, but plenty in walking distance if you can find parking. Otherwise it serves it purpose and Im grateful for the free parking.

Great Stuff..very friendly..if you are a frequent you become family..if you are a passenger you will be treated as good.

Be careful in the shower you cant control the water temperature and is just HOT water that runs at any knob position. I dont know what it is but maybe this pilot does not want you to waste any water and dont mind a stinky driver, I can think of many things because the store doesnt correct this issue.

Was ok. It would nice if they fixed lights in fuel island. So drivers could see at night fueling. Been like that for months.

Decent fuel station, especially for New Mexico. Definitely a great safe haven in the middle of the desert. Everything is priced well, no gouging and the restrooms are clean!

Watch the shower board closely.You wait for hours and hours on a shower and magically names appear above you that were not there.This isnt the first time.If youre friends with the manager, you get your shower before the others waiting.Management needs to be replaced.

Tight parking, usually filled up with local oil field trucks. Food is edible if your hungry enough. Keep going if you have the hours.

May not be the nicest, cleanest, biggest truck stop . But the employees are cool

Nice Travel Center with all the amenities, although regular gasoline was only one grade, 86. Parking was a little sparse.

Other than the the friendly clerk and a decent store,this place is a dive. Parking is horrible,especially when drivers cant park straight. Cant get around trucks at the fuel pumps. Just sayn .....

Everything I needed to drive my family and belongings coast to coast. Good clean low priced gas, ample clean restrooms and good security. Good coffee.

Need more parking, more showers. People that work there are nice with one or two exceptions. Overall this pilot tries; however, it comes short of its potential. The main office should capitalize on the influx of trucking/oil field vehicles in the area.

Five years working this area and theres a need for additional showers and service people that work like the give a dang if people are pleased with the wait. Pilot corporate needs to expand here. Theres plenty of space in Carlsbad. Dig in boys, girls, try harder!

Only two showers. I was the eighth in the queue. After two hours, 4th. thank you. I am going to sleep and not wait 4 hours for a shower. You have to watch a board with names written inside because otherwise the queue will get you out .

I just wanted to say this Flying J was super clean and the employees were very helpful and professional. Joanna is very friendly and polite. I will definitely stop here again.

It doesnt have the amenities of most Pilot Flying Js. This is a tiny place that looks like an old corner store. You can fit about 30 trucks here if everyone parks right. 5 diesel pumps with a gas pump on the end. Only 2 showers. No food except hot dogs and stuff yoi can microwave. Staff is friendly.

Anyone finding this to be a good truckstop has exceptionally low standards. I suppose there are worse places. Easy to get boxed in at this one. You drive in, then have to wait 45 min before you can get back out, simply because of the way the pumps and parking are laid out.

Employees are great. Parking for trucks is horrible. Stay far away from Carlsbad if you have to layover. Get there before 1700 if you need your 10, otherwise the animals are parked crooked and stupidly. You won’t have a chance. Pilot needs to make it into a real truck stop.

Negative 10. Put simply, if you dont absolutely have to go here, DONT!! Very slow.. No way around going around the pump line. Just stay out.

Love the Pilot Travel centers. Their coffee, when fresh, it is usually the Best! Great, clean bathrooms & I like the handcleaner for the exfoliant! Quick, Friendly Service!! More showers would be nice 😘 Just really needs a lot more parking!!!

Not a whole lot of parking, store needs a major remodel. Only 2 toilets and sinks makes for a uncomfortable break. Even though the store has most of the trucker gadgets and parts that you would find in other Pilots the whole place gave off a regular small town convenience store vibe. Does beat parking in the middle of nowhere though.

Very crowded, not enough parking for big trucks nor small vehicles. Store service is variable, sometimes fast, other times the clerks are all standing around doing something else and the checkout lines are long. Unfortunately it is almost the only game in town for big trucks.

I could not believe the condition of this Pilot. I have never seen one this run down.

Hate pilot. The company. They steal from you and are crooks charging for everything and never give back. Points system sucks. I bought $400 fuel only got 119 points for it. And showers on your card do not last long. And take too long to the dumb and stupid promo shower power. Only complaint they listened to is wifi reboot. Only had three pilot where the employees are cool. I tell them I can use my comdata card as debit they want to argue or dont want to do it correctly and mess it up on purpose. As if I dont know. Already did it at two of the pilots that are cool. So disrespectful towards the customers that supply them most of there big business O.T.R. truck . I keep with Loves petro and TA. Hope pilot go out of business and many of there employees get done to them as they did to us.

Traveled the country and stoped frequently at truck stops for showers and other needs.... This place had higher priced showers than any other pilot station in the country. Also the showers werent nice compared to others.

Terribly slow. Friendly people, must be a higher level management problem. Store is pretty dirty, especially parking lot. Parking is very bad and access on nm hwy 285 is crazy dangerous! Be careful entering and especially exiting property.

Always got lots of hot items to eat

We gave up fueling, pumps so slow. Just 1 gal per minute. Large motorhome was going to take all day to fill. Parking area filthy. Staff nice enough but not much they could do.

If I could give half a star I would rate this location with it, no customer service, whatsoever, cant distinguish between employees and management, they are all rude and dont withhold the pilot travel centers culture, its a shame, they have a the tools and marketing power and they dont seem to care to use it, it only makes us truck drivers want to puke all over this store, lots of room for improvement,

There was something wrong with their credit card machine at the pump & I had to keep going back & forth try to pay & get my receipt. Bathroom was clean.

Carlsbads Pilot is smaller and older than Hobbs, but they always have fuel for 20 cents per gallon less!
