Great location close to downtown and major hotels. The decor is fun with fun signs on the walls. We were greeted instantly by a friendly host. The service was outstanding. We were offered freshly brewed iced tea. The menu is full of classic diner choices. We had grilled chicken and a meatball sandwich. The meatball sandwich was huge and delicious - certainly enough to share. The grilled chicken was tasty. This is an excellent lunch choice!

Came to visit the caverns and was on mission to find a local place that has good food. Well we found it! Excellent service, plenty of good hot food and a great atmosphere! Would highly recommend to anyone stopping by Carlsbad!

What a nice roadtrip stop. Sadly I think the chicken fried steak was better than what I have been getting in Texas lately. Good hot fresh food. Service was perfect. Clean restaurant and I heard absolutely no whining.

Fun unique dinner. Great waitress, good food, reasonably priced, it came out really really fast.

On our way to the Caverns, we stopped for a quick bite here and wasnt disappointed. Small location with good eats, great staff and didnt break our wallet. We stopped for lunch and the sandwiches were really good, we even got ourselves some souvenir shirts to take home!

Delicious home cooking, friendly service and large portions! The prices are reasonable too! This place is on the main drag and easy to find. We will definitely go back. The Tune Melt Sandwich and the Chicken fried steak are both yummy!

Very funky smell when entering. Should have been 1st clue. DO NOT ORDER steak. It was definitely diner food and not the best.The bathrooms were clean but smelled sooooo bad. Like it was mopped with sourred water. Would never return there. Just everything was a little off.It may have been the funky smell. Dont know....just dont go.

We went in on a Friday for lunch the food was delicious! The service was really good, very fast & checked on us constantly. If we ever pass this way again we will definitely eat here again :)

This is a very busy place as it is popular among the locals. They have a nice selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads and steaks. Price is reasonable, expect to spend around $10 per plate. Staff is super nice. Overall has a nice homey feel.

There are times when you run across true gems in rough places. Sadly, this isnt one of them. The place smelled of cat litter and the ambiance matched the smell. I ordered a teriyaki chicken dish and it was rather foul. I am not entirely sure the meat they put on my plate was actually chicken, thats how odd it was. It was spongy and gross. The mashed potatoes I had were box style so that was another disappointment. The only saving grace was the fact that the service wasnt awful; they were somewhat attentive and polite, but that wont bring me back. I hope this helps someone.

Food was great .. friendly staff.Order the Meat loaf, and it was good. Large large portion couldnt finished it.Soups are all freshly made. Very good raspberry sweet tea!!!I will definitely come back again !

Waitress was very good. Had shrimp for appetizer it was really good and plentiful. I had prime rib sandwich which was excellent. My husband had fried fish which he said was really good. Gave them only four stars because its hard to park there. We drove around the block three times until someone backed out of a spot. The food and service was excellent and made up for it. Will eat there the next time we come through town.

We were fortunate to have found No Whiner Diner in Carlsbad NM on Goggle. All orders were delicious and staff were very professional and caring. We were tourists who were treated like locals. We had no reason to whine. Great job.

Gross! Gross! Gross! Everything comes out of a freezer! If youre looking for a microwave dinner type meal with waxy vegetables and tasteless food this place is for you. If not try any other place! This is easily the worst restaurant in town. FYI Im a local who eats out frequently. I had the Prime Rib, hubby had the chicken fry (think cafeteria chicken fry) and kiddo had a cheeseburger. None of us ate our food and no reason for a to-go plate. Save your money.

Apparently, this was a good restaurant at one time, but no more. But first, the wait staff was fantastic, Ive never had better service. We loved the music and the decor. Unfortunately, we were greeted by a terrible smell when we walked in. I almost turned around and left before we were seated, and I should have. The menu bragged about the large size of the salads, but my wifes Teriyaki Chicken salad was tiny. She had to ask for more lettuce. I ordered the Fish Fillets. They were frozen fish sticks! The tartar sauce was mostly just mayo. It wasnt the worst meal Ive ever had, but it was close.

The worst of places that I have been to ever...... I travel alot so my review means something due to the fact that I dine in all traditions of restaurants. Out of all the places that I have eaten at which are scattered all over the States this is the worst by far. Reason..... On the menu it clearly says in red letters fresh, homemade and that everything that is served there is that. Let me state that nothing there is homemade its all frozen or canned. Nothing that I ordered wasnt at some point in that restaurant was ever fresh. That makes this restaurant the worst. False advertising to honest hard working and good paying customers to be served a warm, not hot lies on a plate. 1 star for actually being open

Wanted the catfish because of another review, went with the chicken fried steak instead. Very well done. I am used to my steak being so hard or chewy that I cant eat it(lacking dentures), this steak was fantastic, easy to cut and chew almost melted in my mouth. I ordered the New Mexico soup as well, it was also fantastic though if you arent used to spicy food you might want to skip it.

This place is the best, they always make you feel welcome and like youre their favorite customer. If you come after not being in town a while, they treat you like visiting family. I love eating here either by myself or with friends. This place is always #1 on my list of where to eat.

Im so glad we came into No Whiner Diner. The service was great. The food was delicious. The restaurant was clean and had a relaxed atmosphere. Just what we needed after a loooooong hike in the cavern. I already know Ill be craving the New Mexico noodle soup and bourbon pecan pie by the time we get back to Oklahoma.

Hands down the No Whiner Diner is one of the best restraunts in town by far. Its relatively affordable prices and great food make it a good spot for a bite out to eat. Its atmosphere feels like stepping into a old 90s movie and the food is always cooked to perfection.

The chicken noodle soup was very good! Lots of good herbs. The other food we tried was ok. The portions were a little small for the price. The staff was friendly. Nice for a road trip stop.

Not sure how this place gets the rating it does. The salad was at least fresh! Everything we ordered had to be frozen for at least 2 weeks. Dry, low quality and over all not very good. We ordered the kids burgers that were bland... So bland that salt and pepper didnt really help. I ordered the chicken fried steak based on the waitresses recommendation that was the best meal on the table. The steak had a bunch of Gristle on the edges and tasted okay cause you smother it white gravy. STAY AWAY FROM the chicken alfredo, microwaved chicken, microwaved Alfredo sauce and maybe the noodles were cooked today. This place was and is a dump, the bathrooms had no ventilation so they where at least 20 degrees hotter and smelled like a trucker just dropped off a load. NASTY! Go to the Chilis up the road at least you know what youre getting there.

Very disappointed. My shrimp was something I couldve gotten at Walmart and cooked at home. The cocktail sauce was frozen. My boyfriends grilled chicken was unseasoned and the mashed potatoes were instant potatoes. Service was good though.

I have eaten here many times over the last 15+yrs and never had a bad meal. I love the stuffed mushrooms appetizer, the No Whiner Slider, and the BLT. My dad likes going her on his birthday. He likes the prime rib off the sr. menu.

We ordered meatloaf and alfredo. The meatloaf tasted sorta like Salisbury steak...but overall bland. The mashed potatoes tasted worse than boxed. The alfredo, I kid you not, was the worst Ive ever had. Its as if they forgot to add parmesan...again very bland and runny. Never again.

A good friend recommended this restaurant on my frequent drives between Lubbock and El Paso. The atmosphere is very casual, and the food is delicious. The waitstaff have always been very attentive, and the service is quick. If this restaurant is open when you are driving through Carlsbad, this is a must-stop. You will not be disappointed.

The place has a funky smell but didnt let that deter us bc reviews said it was pretty good. The salads and bread was good. Atmosphere otherwise was good. Quiet little place. Cute decor. Waitress and staff friendly. However, the food was at best mediocre. All 3 people in our party agreed it would be a surprise if we eat here again til we try out all the resturants in town. Hubs had meatloaf and mashed potatoes. So much brown gravy on everything you barely taste the actual food. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. Again slathered in white gravy. But the gravy was so peppery it was hard to eat. Mashed potatoes were heavily peppered as well. Daughter got soup and said it was basic and only ate the noodles. IMO its highly priced for mediocre food. We could eat the same type food at Dennys, spend less, and better quality.

We were traveling thru the area visiting 3 national parks and had never been to Carlsbad. We stopped in the No Whiner Diner for dinner on night one and loved it. The staff was super friendly and the food was excellent - I felt like I was eating at grandmas house - just great home style food. I splurged on peach pie and also loved it as well. We ended up coming again on our 2nd night in the area and the food on night two was just as good. I had the apple pie the 2nd night and it might have been even better than their peach pie. EXCELLENT all around!

Stopped there while going through Carlsbad. Ordered 1/2 lb Whiner Cheeseburger with Ghost pepper cheese medium well on sourdough bread with fries. Fries where normal Industry fries like the waitress said. But the burger came out with two 1/4 lb patties spread out over bread so every bite had meat in it and both juicy med well. Best darn burger had in long time. Only set back I did not ask about onion rings which was the other side chose. Come to find put they were home made. Darn it, next time Im there getting onion rings.

Food is great. Staff is friendly. Hours of Operations, are a bit funky; they close at 1:45PM, reopening after 4PM-5PM.

Food was cold and tasteless. My husband had salmon which was a little undercooked and cold. I had shrimp and it had no flavor, the only thing that gave it flavor was the cocktail sauce. Also the girl who checked us out had a hard time giving us back our change. We had to correct her so as to get our correct change. If we come back to Carlsbad, we will not be coming here again.

Service was great but the food is over priced and not your typical quality of food. We asked for an additional small cup of ranch and were told it would be an additional dollar but we’re not charged after reviewing our ticket. The Salisbury steak gravy was on the salty side and the meat was similar to a McDonalds McRib sandwich. The garden salad was a salad with no more than lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes. My kids pizza tasted and appeared to be out of the freezer but I could be wrong. Nothing in this place seemed to be “Homemade”.

Its my favorite place in Carlsbad. Always good service quality of the food and portion size are right on the money and the carrot cake is the perfect finish.

My fiancée and I stopped here on our way home to Texas because of its Yelp rating. Though the service was excellent and the soup was decent and evidently freshly made, the meatloaf was decidedly neither. My meatloaf—beneath the gravy placed on top of it—was so cold it had to have come right out of the fridge. Our server promptly took it back to the kitchen when I pointed this out, and brought back the same plate roughly a minute later, which confirmed my suspicion that the meatloaf wasn’t fresh and had likely been made earlier and then either refrigerated or frozen (otherwise, I would’ve received a new plate of fresh, hot, not-microwaved food). The meatloaf was also, in contrast to the menu’s promise, exceedingly dry. And while my fiancée’s chicken-fried steak was acceptable—not to mention hot—we suspected that it too was premade and/or frozen as opposed to made fresh because of the consistency of the breading. For a 30 plus dollar meal with two lunch entrees and cups of coffee, not at all the best food in the Pecos region as advertised.

Puzzzled by the 5 star reviews, maybe other dishes are better but not ours. Hot chicken salad: small, chicken patty was a luke warm processed flat rubbery chicken nugget. Chicken alfredo: looked and tasted like frozen reheated overcooked noodles drowning in butter and oil...didnt make my daughter eat it after I tasted it. Slider: 2 dry patties on dry white bread. Service was good and fast...but wont return here.

Food was good but service was great. Traveling with a child in a wheelchair can be difficult but this place was very accessible (for small chairs) and the bathroom was perfect for families.
