Cute mini local outfitter (like REI but smaller selection, less corporate). The free mini cups of coffee were a lovely touch. Didnt buy anything but still fun to browse. I really like the building too.

Sad to see you go. Thank you for all the good stuff, the shoes, the fleeces, the camping gear, the maps on the walls, the unique atmosphere in the store. We will miss you!

These guys obviously got it right! This is what a local outfitters SHOULD be! The right merchandise selections, the right prices, the most helpful and knowledgeable staff, and an atmosphere second to none. After 30 years in business, they are still striving for the next level in customer service, selection and experience. TB&C sets the bar pretty high! As the owner of an Outfitters myself, I am rarely impressed when I visit other stores around the country, but these guys got my highest recommendation!! Thanks for being what all us independents are striving to be.

Did not realize that I needed triple wide shoes when I came into get fitted. Taylor Dansby is a Rude manager who should not be in customer service. As soon, as I got on the phone he seemed entertained by the issue rather than taking it seriously. If you want an overpriced shoe that doesnt fit shop at Townsend..

Townsend has a little bit of everything you might need for travel or adventure. Their staff are all active and can guide you through most any purchase.They have gear for camping, hiking, climbing, international travel or just day-to-day living.Definitely worth a visit!I always have a good experience there.

Wow, this store is awesome. The products are great, but my favorite part are the people: we always rely on them to receive amazing advice, on hiking gear, shoes, travel bag-back, etc... I also had a strap break on a pair of nice Teva sandals, I brought them back to ask about the TEVA 1-year warranty, and they just took the pair to handle it themselves and got me a new pair of the exact same model right away! Really fantastic service, go support our local shops like this one!

I buy most of my clothes and shoes here. As I am a man, with some fashion sense and slightly outside of the Patagonia mob, I find the selection limited at times, but this is only partly an issue of the store, its more of an issue with what counts as fashionable in Carrboro.

Been searching all day for solar glasses and saw this store had a supply this afternoon while randomly walking by. My son and myself walked to the end of the line and were the last two in line. The chatty kathy cashier took his sweet time ringing up the less than 20 people in line that were there to purchase glasses. When we finally got to the register to buy a pair we were told that we couldnt purchase anymore despite there clearly being about fifty or so glasses in his hand as he denied us service. We waited 45 minutes for this idiot to ring up less than 20 people and refuse us service for no reason other than to create scarcity and jack up prices. Horrible customer service, horrible prices, merchandise is solely for its customers to value-signal their middle class psuedo-eco friendly lifestyle.

The staff goes above and beyond to assist you! No only are they extremely helpful, but they are also very pleasant people.
