I highly recommend going to Violin House for repairs or if you are interested in playing. I was recently gifted my Great Grandparents violin that I would like to learn to play. I could not get the tuning knobs to stay in tune, so I called Violin House based off other reviews I had read. I was not disappointed. The staff is very kind and extremely knowledgeable. My issue ended up being an easy fix, and I was not charged at all! I was given advice on other issues that may require attention in the near future, and the estimate I was given was very affordable. I was also provided with tips for learning to play. I will be going to Violin House for all of my violin needs!
Our family had a great experience at Violin House! Mr. Kim was so professional in how he helped us pick out a new violin for my sister. He asked to hear her play and then recommended the perfect violin for her playing style. We were thankful to have such an expert at our service. Would highly recommend coming here to upgrade your instrument!
My sons bow needs to be re-haired and I stopped by at Violin House on a Saturday late afternoon around 4 pm. The shop is closed at 5 pm. Daniel was with a customer and greeted me the moment I walked in. While I was waiting, I observed his interaction with the customer and he had all the patience. When he learned that we dont live close by and couldnt wait till Monday to get it back, he offered to work on it right away. And we got the bow back before close as promised and the quality of the work is top line, too. Definitely the place to go for your string instruments!
Had a couple of Violins gifted to me from relatives. I took them in to Violin house because they have an actual expert who knows how violins play, the parts, the inner workings. He gave me an assessment on both of them for free and replaced strings that I purchased (id never done this before). It was so great, I bought two of the low end bows that he sold since Im not sure if my kids are going to pick up the instrument long term. When I looked at the quality of the bows, they were astounding for the price - real wood, high quality horse hair, pearl inlay on the frog. You can save about $15 to go across town for a beginner bow - but it will be made of plastic and lower quality materials. Do yourself a favor - dont go to the store where they have 10% knowledge on 50 different instruments. Go here - where the only thing they sell and know is stringed instruments.
Violin House offers gentle but high quality in string instruments. The place is comfortable and pleasant to visit. If you are wavering to go or not, i recommend you trying out Violin House and you will not be disappointed!
I cant say enough good things about The Violin House. I brought them a violin that was over 100 years old and in very poor shape. They took impeccable care to restore it and it sounds BEAUTIFUL. The owners are helpful, generous and sincere people and I look forward to continuing to do business with them in the future.
I would like to recommend this Violin House although it is my first visit here.Very kind, great service I got.
The BEST customer service and their prices are very reasonable! They arent just trying to make a sale - they genuinely care about giving customers the highest quality. They have shown honesty and integrity, and as a result, my family rents multiple instruments from there. There are many rental places in DFW (weve tried a few), but I highly recommend them for their detailed personal service, level of expertise, and affordable prices.
I was taken care of and the level of expertise and knowledge is very good. I would highly recommend Violin House.
I had my Grandfathers violin repaired here. They did an excellent job and were very helpful!
I am so impressed with Daniel and Yun’s quality of service! They are very warm and truly create an unintimidating atmosphere in their beautiful store. I brought my violin in for new strings and left it for quick service. When I returned my instrument was better than I left it and now plays with a deeper more fulfilling sound. I can’t wait to meet the instructor they connected me to in my area.
Mr. Choi is an experienced, knowledgeable expert for string instruments. I was very satisfied with his quality work for one of my loving bows. I definitely recommend this place to any professional string players or students.
I would really recommend this place! From my experience, Daniel Choi is the BEST around here.Extremely professional, prompt service andgreat value of instruments.
Violin House, in both product and service, is a 5-star experience. This is an extremely service-oriented business. The people there are extremely knowledgeable and generous about sharing their expertise. Never pushy, they help you obtain what you need. The owner, Daniel Choi is a master luthier and only sells the best. I look forward to returning to his shop! This is the best place to shop for string instruments, exceptional quality, and service.
Violin House is THE ABSOLUTE BEST! Dallas is extremely lucky to have Mr. Daniel Choi. He is the best in his field — repairs and repairs — and we all thoroughly miss having him in NYC and at Salchow. You know a great violin shop after one visit — and in both expertise and service, Violin Shop exceeds all expectations and more. I would give 10 stars if I could! I HIGHLY recommend Violin House to all string players in the Greater Dallas Area!
Great violin shop ever in DFW. I got great quality of old violin at this shop :) and they have good quality of bow hair. I will go again this shop to get new bow. I really recommend
NOT COMING HERE. DANIEL CHOI is NOT HERE! SUCKS....... where do I go now?????? There is nobody here to do the repairs or pick out a good violin or rehair my bows.
**update**It is painfully disappointing and sad, but Im just informed that Daniel Choi is no longer with the Violin House.
I was so glad to find Daniel Choi at Violin House last year, butDaniel wont be working there anymore.
Absolutely fantastic experience! They have a great selection of great instruments. Also I has been done my bow rehair couple times and I am very satisfied. They are very knowledgeable, friendly and honest. I am highly reccomend this place.
Violin House is a fantastic shop. They have an excellent selection of instruments and great luthier experience. But more importantly, Daniel and Je have a personal touch and deep commitment to their customers. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
I highly recommend Violin House. Wonderful customer service, excellent quality work & very reasonable prices. Owner Daniel Choi did a wonderful job on fine tuning our violin and rehairing the bow. Thank you Daniel!
DANIEL CHOI left this shop. There is nobody else who can do repairs here now.
So pleased with my experience at Violin House!Careful, quality work, prompt service and very professional.
I love this place so much!!! The work they do and they are so so so so so giving and professional and kind people. When they mean “your sound is our passion” they mean it!!
Hands down the best violin shop in DFW. Reasonable price and professional work and great customer service.
If you are looking for a place to get your string instrument check, Violin House is where you need to go. Mr. Daniel Choi is definitely one of the best luthiers I have ever worked with in my life as a violinist, and he does what you exactly need/want with your instrument to make it sound right. I have had several students who used to rent/repair violin/viola from different shops in DFW area, but Im switching all of them to Violin House. You also need to try. You wont get disappointed!
Update: after trying to reach Daniel with no success for most of spring and summer, we finally gave up and went to another luthier. It appears that Daniel has been out of the country and not available. I’m not sure if he will return and I don’t trust having his standin work on my violins as I don’t really know his background and experience.Original post:Wonderful experience, great service, and very fast turn-around!I have had experience with most if not all the luthiers in the DFW metroplex. They are all experienced and excellent in their service. Each luthiers shop has their own style of service and people tend to go to the luthier that meets their needs.Daniel, the proprietor of Violin House has built a luthier service that not only met but exceeded my needs. Here are some of his services that exceeded my expectation.* Convenience. Violin house is right off of Hwy 121. Easy one and easy off. When I have to go there almost every month, this makes getting there easy and less stressful - not to mention less time for the instruments to sit in the car, in an environment the instruments does not like.* Service - Daniel always takes the time to explain why and what he is working on my instrument. When I had him check one of my instruments, he found a previously repaired joint (by an unknown luthier), was hastily glued back and cause the instrument to warp. He took the time to explain before the repair and how he plan to repair it.* Timeliness - Getting the instruments back when promised. Also had him perform emergency repair in a quick turn-around case* Facility - Daniel has a well organized and pleasant-looking shop. The best part was that his shop has an area to sit and wait. This is really appreciated when there is a line on Saturday or when one has to bring children (not really recommended) to the shop. This one I have to give Daniel the two thumbs up.* Experience - Besides instruments, Daniel was trained also trained in making and servicing bows. I have had great bow repair and service by Daniel. One stop service for instruments and bows!* Price - Very reasonable price. I consider payments for luthier service as a payment for his/her experience. A luthier is like a doctor for your instruments. You want a luthier who care about your instrument and take the effort to repair, service, and make recommendations on the well being of the instrument.* Style - Okay, this one is really subjective. I really prefer Daniels tuning of the instruments. In this case, Daniel made a new bridge and adjusted sound post for a violin. After his work, the violin has never sounded so good! For all the non-musical geeks out there, the violin probably double in value from the better sound!Give Violin House a try if you are looking for a luthier. Find a luthier that fits you and your instruments need, and you will enjoy your musical experience that much more!
I couldn’t be more thrilled to have a luthier shop like Violin House in Dallas! I just moved to Texas from New York, and I was definitely worried about where to take my cello in for repairs and for rehairs. Serendipitously, Mr. Daniel Choi recently opened his shop here, and I couldn’t be happier! He is the ABSOLUTE BEST luthier and person, and I can’t wait to tell my colleagues and friends at the Dallas Symphony about this shop. He is an expert and gives the best rehairs! I know of people who flew into NYC to get work done with him.Thank you for all of you do!
Outstanding service and knowledge of string instruments! They have a wide selection of quality instruments and really work with you to find the right one for your student!
Discovering Violin House completely elevated my cello playing. After a quick fix on the sound post, my cello sounded so much brighter and clearer. Also, the new bridge Mr. Choi made himself really transformed my cello sound, making it sound so resonant and brand new! These changes has allowed me to play with more confidence in huge halls such as the Meyerson and the Eisemann because I know the sound will travel and fill the entire hall. Mr. Choi truly is an expert at his job and I recommend anyone to go in for a check-up because otherwise I would have never known how amazing my cello could sound!
I can assure you, it is the best shop to do bow rehair and to fix your instruments in Dallas, if not in whole Texas! In the past years, Mr. Daniel Choi had been working in New York, Salchow bow, and I have always gone to him to repair my violin and to do bow rehairs when I lived in New Jersey. Now that I have moved to Houston to study at Rice, I’m so glad that he has moved closer. Even it takes about 4 hrs drive from Houston, I still insist to go all the way to Violin House to check up my violin/adjust soundpost and to do rehair.
Excellent customer service and luthier!!! I highly recommend this shop!!!
Mr.Choi is the best!
The ambience
An excellent place, the attention is very good and you can find everything you need ...
I went to New Jersey to repair my bow.It s really nice to have your business near your home.
