Mark has worked on my acoustics for over 10 years and he has always done a super thorough and professional job. He’s done two neck re-sets, made bone nuts and saddle, installed pick-ups. As a certified Martin Tech, he went to bat for me when my new Martin D-18 needed a neck reset and Martin agreed to let a Mark do the work under warranty with absolutely no cost to me! I’ve yet to have anything but an excellent experience with Mark Kane.

Awesome experience. Took a 1960 reissue Fender custom shop Strat to Mark for a refret, new nut, setup and various other repairs. This guitar was in rough shape when I got it and I wasted a lot of hours trying to make it sound good before taking it to Mark. His approach to guitar work is scientific and practical - even factoring in my playing style to the adjustments he did. He diagnosed and explained the issues to me, made the recommendations, which I agreed to, and then proceeded with the fixes. Now the guitar is perfect. Communication was excellent and the whole process was easy. Price was very reasonable. Will be taking my guitars to him from now on.

Took what was a very good bass and turned it into a great bass. I ran into an issue after the fact and we simply met up and he fixed it. This thing plays phenomenally.

Ive been a customer of his for probably over a decade now and havent let anyone touch my guitars since having him set them up.Mark gives every guitar the same attention and work, no matter the price tag, because he knows what that guitar means just as much to you as the $5,000+ guitar someone else may have brought in.

Mark (Fret King) did two complete refret jobs on two of my guitars and they play better than they ever have. I have had one of these guitars for 40 years and it has had multiple fret jobs, but the Fret King work was the best. Quick turnaround as well. I would highly recommend Mark if you need a repair.

Mark was able to turn two of my guitars into absolute things of beauty. I own a Martin OMC16EKOA that I was not bonding with. He took the time to show me why the action has increased over time for a 14 year old guitar and it was in dire need of a neck reset. Well, this Martin is now honestly the most perfect acoustic I ever laid hands on and it plays like butter. I truly was a little suspect if the neck reset was going to result in something meaningful, but boy, I am sooooooo glad I did, I now am in love with my Martin. He also refretted a Telecaster with stainless steel frets and now my Tele is competing with my Martin for my love! If you are on the fence of refretting with SS, my advice is .... DO IT!!!!! Its amazing, the bends on the Tele are so easy. Mark is a superb professional. Please, if you suspect your acoustic or electric guitar could benefit from the expertise of a luthier, trust me, Mark is the professional you want!!!

I had bought a 2019 Epiphone LP Prolll and the fret board had some severe buzzing at the 7 thru 9th frets, I decided to take it in to Mark and he checked it over and found plenty of issues with the frets and board, he explained it to me but me being 69 years old it went in one ear and out the other, to make a long story short, yes it cost me some change but I have to tell you that I am totally happy with the out come. It now plays like a million bucks. Mark is extremely good at what he does and if anyone needs repairs to there guitar, this is the place to go! Thanks Mark!!!

This is the best luthier in Cary, hands down. You will not find anyone better and as established until Durham. Jeff Foxs review is accurate but Mark is undeserving of anything less than 5 stars here. If Mark says it is not worth it to repair your guitar, trust his advice. You can go to Guitar Center if you want someone to take your money to work on a guitar that will simply present the same problems only months later.

Mark is a genius, wizard, and general badass. Hes worked on almost all of my guitars (12ish) and his work has always been incredible!

Brought a Cordoba C7 to him three years ago for a replacement bone nut and saddle. He replaced it for $60, they were still plastic.The most ironic part is I brought the same guitar to him recently and he told me the nut and saddle, unchanged, were plastic; his own work.Dishonest in the past, I hope hes changed.

I’ve known Mark for over 5 years (been playing 17) and he is the only luthier that I trust with my guitars. I have a 52 reissue tele, 60th anniversary strat, and martin D-42. Whether he’s re-fretting my entire guitar or just doing a regular setup, that thing comes out sounding better than brand new. Never a sour note and plays like a dream! Mark has an incredible eye for detail and takes great pride in his work. He’s also an all-around pleasant guy to talk to and is always eager to volunteer what advice he has. I’ve picked his brain for hours about different stuff. Yeah… if you want that cheap hack setup from guitar center, this is not your guy. Marks affordable and does great work. No one better!

This guy is the only one I trust to work on my Taylor guitar. I had work done on it previously at guitar center and they made it worse. I didnt realize I needed to look for someone endorsed by Taylor in order for me to have quality repairs performed on it.

Took him my 2017 Gibson ES335 with all the problems those guitars have. I had two others work on it but this guy did the work that needed to be done and after gigging a few times with this guitar it is all it should be. Thanks!
