Never again, Rarely do I write reviews. Rented & bought for years from but always with whats been common amongst many locals- under appreciated. Was riding with my daughter when brake cable came loose result -no front brake. Stopped in explained should be quick fix all part still intact could you take quick look. Owner replied you want me to fix it now? No chance maybe after the weekend. Let him know I was a loyal customer just didnt feel safe, sorry just too backed up.Went over to Country Pedaler 2 blocks away. Chris welcomed me, same conversation- that doesnt sound safe and its likely a quick fix less than 2 minutes later brake was fixed...Im over it and moving on to my new local shop. Dont waste your time replying, the 2 minutes youd spend could have been invested in saving a customer and, Ill never see it.

I have visited Castle Rock Bike and Ski on three separate occasions; each time the staff has been polite and courteous. With regard to service; each visit has resulted in discrepancies with my order (wrong size helmets, boots, or completely wrong style of equipment provided) and I have been arbitrarily overcharged (price of equipment requested vs billing price is inconsistent). For my fellow local public safety professionals and veterans, I would recommend the US Air Force Academy Ski Shop; they have a wide variety of equipment at half the price of local shops, with greater availability and accuracy when filling rental requests.

Reducing my review from the book I wrote previously to the below and upping from 1 star to 3 for the times that this shop did take care of me.Used to be one of my favorite shops. Unfortunately, a recent transaction was handled very unprofessionally by the owner. There’s a million ways to handle things and this was not handled with professionalism that I would expect from this shop. Luckily there are a million great shops in colorado that are just a little further of a drive for me.

Very affordable bike rental. My dad and I picked up a pair of road bikes for a trip up Pikes Peak from these guys. They hooked us up at the last minute and threw in some great advice for our ride. They were also very understanding when we returned the bikes a day late. Excellent experience all around!

Stopped in to find a part. Wasnt in stock, but they offered to get it for me in short order. I was very impressed with the level of service, they were very warm and friendly, smiled throughout our interactions. When they couldnt help right away, they suggested I try the other bike shop in town. I did, and found that the service there was several notches below that of Castle Rock Bike & Ski. Will go back to these guys every time now.

Mark and KC and the staff are helpful and have earned my business. My buddy and I purchased 2 Fatties back in December. Mark worked a deal that was easy to say yes. My buddy had some rear derailer issues after the sale and Mark and the team made the correction.I also purchased a single speed from KC about 5 years ago. Great bike and a good price!A couple years back I had a crash w/ my roadie near Castle Rock Bike & Ski, the crash jacked my frame at the hanger and they basically made the bike good to ride. I still ride it now. They sold and mounted my bindings on a new pair of skis I purchased somewhere else a couple years back as well.Best thing is, when I bring the bikes in for any kind of maintenance, it is done right the first time, and....KC has the best way to make anyone feel welcome in shop!

The folks that own and run this shop are very nice and they know a lot more than I do when it comes to bikes and accessories. However, do not take your skis or snowboard to get tuned up here. The edges of our gear appear to have been shaved with a electric sander or grinder. Very disappointed in how the edges were treated at this shop. I would give them a chance at anything else, but not this service. Go elsewhere.UPDATE:I am certainly not one to go out a bash a business for the fun of it. The service of using an electric beveler on a already fairly clean snowboard came as a shock. I stand by my review of that service and that there are other ways to tune a snowboard. However, this shop and its employees have always been friendly and helpful. So it would be unfair for me to rate the entire business on the one experience. But I hope it does save people from coming in an expecting one thing and getting another. The lesson here is communication. I could have asked specifically what they were going to do with it -- they could have communicated the method they use on all snowboards. Happy new year.Snowboard tuning **Staff and overall friendliness ****

Ive stopped by this shop twice now, the first time was basically for free advice about a private party bike purchase I was making. The owners couldnt have been more knowledgeable and gracious. Its a little out of my way, but they impressed enough I drove back today to buy my son a new bike.Second verse same as the first-awesome, knowledgeable, friendly and had just the right bike. Sized my son and adjusted his bike like we were getting a high-end full sized rig. Too cool.Basically ended up spending about sixty bucks more than I would have at a big-box for a much higher quality bike and received service that is in a whole different galaxy. Only reason not to come here is if you need the absolute cheapest or have a thing for being ignored while wandering around under a forty foot high ceiling. As for me, I couldnt be happier with these folks, great place.

Original review edited- complete summary of experience:We brought our bikes here for a tune up on 7/29. They were ready the next day, which was great. We went to pick them up on 7/30. When I paid for our tune up, we were charged $95 for each bike even though it says $90 online. I mentioned the price difference to the young man who was ringing me up, and instead of honoring the price they have on their website (which clearly needed to be updated, and since has been), he just told me sorry. That is not what a business should do. You need to honor the lower price because it is your mistake. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I wrote about this in my original review; the owner has since refunded the $10 difference, which is the correct thing to do, based solely on principle! If that was the only thing “wrong” with our experience, it wouldn’t have been half bad. It’s like a bad infomercial though- “BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!!!!!”When my husband went to test ride his bike at home, the seat was not tightened; it made a hard 90 degree twist clock wise, causing him to lose his balance and he actually fell off, hurting both legs! A mountain bike should be able to hit bumps and go over rough terrain, let alone ride around in our driveway- the tech clearly did not tighten the seat, and it really caused an injury that inhibited any sort of exercise/activity for over 2 weeks! So much for enjoying a bicycle for exercise/recreation/relaxation.The following morning I was getting ready to ride my bike, but my front tire was completely flat! I asked the young man to check my tires for a leak when I dropped off the bikes. Clearly it was not checked, nor was tire pressure even looked at before giving the bikes back. After all of this, I sent a private Google message to the company on 7/31- no response. I waited until 8/9- nothing. I decided to go on their website & send my message in their “contact form.” The owner, Mark, called me within a few hours. I was unavailable to answer my phone, & in his voicemail message he asked for a call back as he’d like to see the bikes. I was able to call back the following Monday 8/12. He apologized for not seeing the google message & asked if we could bring the bikes to the shop? I advised I could do so the following day. When we went back to the shop, the experience was very awkward & impersonal. It seemed he was just “going through the motions” to fix his employee’s error, yet was not sympathetic or apologetic- nor was he remotely concerned about my husband’s injuries caused by his tech’s lack of attention to detail. He changed my bike tube and asked about my husband’s seat? We advised him it was not tightened the way it should have been & that we have since tightened it (however it should be common sense that a mountain bike will ride in dirt and bumpy trails, and you will hit rough spots.... we were only in our driveway when the loose seat turned, & this is the employee’s fault! No question or concern was given to the injuries he got from this fall). At the end of the visit he said “sorry it didn’t work out like it was supposed to.” ........okay, us too.We aren’t looking for compensation, but shouldn’t you be somewhat concerned on a human level that your employee’s lack of attention to detail caused a pretty painful injury that inhibited even limited activity/exercise for over 2 weeks? People bike for exercise, recreation, relaxation—whatever the reason! The whole experience just really could have been handled differently. Clearly the customer’s well being is not high on the totem pole for this shop, customer service skills can definitely be improved upon, & even though he appeased us by addressing 2 of our apparent issues, we will not be back- as this small town shop may seem to have more big box store concerns.

Being relatively new to the community and wanting to ride again, I bought a high-end mountain bike from this store choosing to support small business in the community. I knew it was used when I bought it, and asked several key questions: Is it in good condition? How are the brakes? Would you buy it? Have you done a tune up? Etc... All of my questions were answered in the affirmative.A couple of rides in, I knew something was wrong, all of my cables were loose, my bicycle stopped shifting cleanly and the breaks had a horrible squeak.I called, and the response was: It has been dusty, you just need to clean your pads.I had been traveling a lot, and just pulled the bike out to do a spring tune up, I pull the brake pads only to find them just this side of existence, after getting the chain inspected found that to be in need of replacing, seals around the shock cracked, and many other issues.Needless to say, if you want to spend your money, choose to do so somewhere else in our community. There are far more trustworthy businesses in the area, and I regret ever having done business here.

Ive lived in the Castle Rock area for 25 years and have done business with these folks since they opened. Great place. Shout out to Steven who just did some repairs and a tune to my loved but slightly neglected mountain bike, Wow! He gives back to his community, his riders love him, and was just named the Natl Interscholastic Cycling Associations 2017 Coach of the Year for the Colorado South Division. If you want to do business with folks that just want you to love your bike however you use it, these are the folks to come see.

I have never written a negative review about a company but after the service/attitude I received today from who I believe to be the owner of the shop I felt compelled to write one so people will avoid this store. I rented 2 pairs of skis from Castle Rock Bike and Ski even though they were slightly more expensive then Christys sports. I like to try to support small local businesses and was excited to find somewhere nearby with rentals. It was completely my mistake and due to the snowstorm of 8 on Thursday and having three young children I totally forgot to return the skis and was 2 days late. As soon as I realized that I called the shop and explained what happened. He told me it was ok and no big deal. Apparently he thought it was no big deal because he planned to charge me almost $100 for my oversight. As they were trying to look up my info for my return they could not find my name or number because they had put both incorrectly into their system. Then as he told me it would be $100 he saw I was upset. Rather then showing any sort of empathy he starts telling me that he fails to see how its his fault and asks me why Im upset. I told him I understood it was my fault but I wish they had contacted me when they realized they were gone. He gave me a big song and dance about how it was spring break and they were busy so I needed to pay for the skis, yet if the skis were that in demand I dont understand why they didnt call. Through all of this he stood there with my credit card so I couldnt leave and continued to be rude and state it wasnt his responsibility. I totally get it was my mistake but I thought his demeanor and the way he treated me as the customer was completely uncalled for. I will never go back here and was extremely disappointed. Ill be trying out Country Pedalar down the street and suggest others avoid this store especially seeing as Im not the first one with a negative review about their service.

I came in to the store with my 3 yr old son about a month ago, who by the way is an amazing rider already! Thanks to the balance bike he has been on for over a year. He never used training wheels and can ride with me up to 3 miles on his little bike. Being a life long biker my self we decided to visit Castle Rock Bike and Ski to see what the have to offer. Upon entry to the shop my son was looking at a childs bicycle and sat on it. The owner called out hey kid get off the bike ... Unbelievable rude! I couldnt believe my ears.. All I can say is I know where we will not be buying our bikes from or referring any one else too.Get out of the bike business if you cant handle a child sitting on one in your store!

Again... very disappointed... I have the recorded call I made to you... I never complained to you on the message... I was upset that I was hit by a car in front of your store... Again... I will use another rental place in the future... better yet I will buy my equipment from a store that spends energy on making a situation right not the customer wrong... you treated my daughter and son poorly when they came into the store. My son advise you that he was a right foot not left. He was very clear about that and the first thing he did was spend 2 hours getting board corrected at Winter Park. The train arrived in Denver late which made all our other plans... ie being in Denver at night and not getting home til late. You can be right all you want... but remember you are the one missing out on thousands of dollars in equipment that we are going to purchase so we never have to deal with this again. So you will get your rental funds... but not my future business... not a referral... and not a a customer who wanted to buy equipment.Good luck with your business... I hope you get everything you want...I was really disappointed with my boots. We tried to return our rental and they were close. There was no place to return after hours. My son had requested that the snow board be done for right ride and the board was done for a left. Thank goodness Winter Park corrected the issue with no charge.I dont understand why my sons snow board would be done incorrectly when he was in the shop and fitted for a boot. I came and picked up the gear later. It took 2 hours out of his riding which he just said well guess I just need to buy my own gear so I dons have this issue againSo I felt the same way... well just buy your own boots and dont worry about have rental issues in the future. So I am already to by ski gear from you folks then I am told that I need to pay for an additional day of rental. Ok... well guess I wont be buying my gear from you folks. So our train broken down... my boots were so tight that I could not ski with them clamped down... my son lost 2 hours of boarding... good times.Ive been skiing in Colorado for over 40yrs and never had a ski rental place charge me a late fee... Back to Breeze Ski Rental I go... so much for shopping local... thought it was a good idea.
