My husband and I took lessons here for our first dance at our wedding. Neither of us have done ballroom dance before and Kaitlin and Pasha were patient and helpful with us. We ended up mastering the waltz and learning a beautiful choreographed dance. Everyone at the reception was blown away. Truly a unique experience and well worth the cost!

I have been dancing at Fred Astaire of upper Montclair for14 years. It is beautiful with a very large dance floor. The owners, Kaitlin and Tim operate a first class studio. They are amazing professional dancers and teachers who’s first priority is their students. From the moment you enter you are greeted with a smile and treated like family. Our professional teachers, Pavel and Lee, are fabulous and bring so much joy and fun to the studio. Dancing at Fred Astaire of upper Montclair has changed my life. I am now a very happy healthy person who has found their passion at 50. I am proud to be a part of this dance family.

I was so nervous to do dance lessons for my upcoming wedding (because I do not know how to dance and feel so awkward!) but I was astonished at how amazing our wedding first dance is after only 5 lessons! The staff here is so calm, fun, and welcoming. My fiance and I looked forward to each lesson and genuinely had such a great time. I would recommend this studio to anyone - even if you dont think you can dance!

I love dancing with my teacher, Kostadin Bidjourov at Fred Astaire-Upper Montclair. Kostadin is my dance partner in professional-amatuer dance competitions. We have been competing together for nearly 7 years, first in American Smooth and now in Open Gold International Standard and Theater Arts show dances. Kostadin is an extraordinary teacher, fully committed to bringing out the best in me. Thanks to Kostadins confidence in me and his tireless efforts to advance my capabilities, I have performed very well in competitions and continue to make great strides each and every day. I love the personal touch and friendships I have developed at the studio with all the professional teachers there. They are a group of talented, committed, friendly, and gracious individuals. I highly recommend the studio for students at all levels -- from beginner to more advanced.

What a warm and welcoming studio! I’ve had the best experience with Kaitlin, Tim and of course my wonderful partner Pasha! Have been dancing for about 4 years now and love our instructor Kaitlin. Since the studio has switched over hands to Tim and Kaitlin, weve also noticed a huge difference in quality from the weekly dance lessons to events. This Fred Astaire Dance Studio upper Montclair is great! The staff is amazing and they provide an excellent dancing experience, both on a personal level and in group class settings. During the this pandemic, they offered fun virtual classes and kept us all connected. Kaitlin, Tim, Pasha and Lee are great fun to learn from. Can’t wait to get back to the studio.

My fiancé and I started taking lessons with Tim, Kaitlin and the rest of their crew in February to prepare for our June wedding. They welcomed us with arms wide open and we haven’t looked back! In just two short months, we feel (and supposedly look) so much more comfortable on the floor. Our knowledge of ballroom dance has expanded and we’re already adding steps that I never could have imagined we would be able to do! We recently switched to taking our lessons on their virtual platform, and although it took the first lesson to get used to, it’s definitely still a great time! Kaitlin and Tim are still showing us new moves and are able to correct our positions. We look forward to our weekly dance lessons, and can’t wait to get back into the studio space! This studio has been my happy place for 14 years and has infused my everyday life with the feeling of being a dancer, standing tall and moving gracefully. The instructors are perceptive and highly trained, responding and teaching to the individual needs of students. My husband and I were very happy with the dance lessons we took for our wedding. Everyone at the wedding was very impressed with our dance! We took 10 lessons but visited the studio about 5 times. Carrie was an amazing intructor and choreographer. She started to construct our steps on our first day and was able to create a beautiful dance to our wedding song that we were able to pull off although neither of us dance very often and had no experience in ballroom dancing.I would highly recommend this dance studio. It was worth the money and the service was great!

I purchased a group of classes and lessons for my wifes birthday in Feb 2013. It has been the best experience we have ever had and are still having. We looked into Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Montclair but choose Fred Astaire and I am glad we did. Carrie, the owner, is a wonderful person and is truly interested in what you want and will create a program to fit. No high pressure sales tactics.I highly recommend this studio, 5+ stars, whether you want to learn just for social dancing or if you want to get serious about dancing for competitions. They are professional, knowledgeable and talented.You will not regret it. We sure havent!

I have two reasons now to say that Fred Astaire is a truly wonderful place. First, I am celebrating my 6th year with the studio and I have enjoyed every class, every show, every moment there. The teachers are awesome and the fellow students have become a part of my live. Second, we just moved to a new location in Cedar Grove. It’s beautiful and fresh, and I look forward to meeting even more new enthusiastic students.

Ive been taking ballroom dance lessons at Fred Astaire Upper Montclair for over two years. They are great teachers, friendly and eager to help even a clunky dancer like me.I now have the confidence and skill to get on the floor and dance.
