The Pilgrim Diner rides again! For those of you who loved this diner 40 years ago, come back. It is beautifully redone, diner style, and has an extensive menu, although we tried only the breakfast. The corned beef hash was home-made, with pieces of meat you could see and the eggs were perfectly over-easy. The deep fried french toast sticks were delicious and the waitress brought us extra syrup when we asked. We were happy to see this old friend brought back to life..

We entered with excitement that they back open we told them. It was a party if 3 and they couldnt get the order right. I ordered pancakes and bacon. (Pancakes tough and dry) The other 2 guest ordered the same appetizers player and they both came different and they selected the substitutes. No wings on a sampler. I hope they get better Management and staff. We were there over 2 hrs trying to eat. The water & Lemon wedges were good.

Interior is totally new and very nice. Eaten here 3 times since the soft open, 1 breakfast and 2 dinners and everything was fresh and tasty. Deserts are divine. They need more wait staff, but that seems to be an issue everywhere right now.

What a wonderful place to eat. The place is brand new and beautiful inside and out. The breakfast i got there was top notch. I highly recommend the tone and eggs with hashbrowns and the homemade corned beef hash. The servers and upfront staff are friendly and super helpful. In an area with a wide selection of eateries this diner shines bright. Im very happy I found this awesome restaurant.

Ordered a western omelette and harsh browns, plus a waffle. Omelette came burned, and the hash browns were inedible. The top of the hash browns were burned, and the bottom was undercooked. Omelette was also over cooked and had zero flavor. I couldn’t finish it. The waffle had a decent texture, but also lacked any flavor. It also didn’t absorb the syrup very well. Waitress was exhausted, but generally polite. I wouldn’t eat here if you like good diner food.

We ordered take out from the Pilgrim Diner and it was very disappointing. Ordered French toast and they only gave us two small pieces in a container. All the food was also very overpriced and not worth going again given the portion sizes. Experience may be different if you go in person compared to take out.

They need to end the suffering and just close I down. The ceiling was leaking and collapsing in many different spots, all of the chairs and booths were ripped or had huge holes in the cushions. The place should be condemned. They have completely stopped trying with the food, if that matters at all at this point. Its over, avoid and let it die.

Used to be a great diner but now it is run down. The owner should be ashamed to run an establishment like this. The tables and chairs were literally held together with duct tape! The food was just as bad. I seldom give reviews when a place is not to my liking, and I am not a very picky person but, this place is awful! Too many real good diners in the area instead of this one. Do yourself a favor and stay away!

I just walked out with my wife. Worst diner around. Seats are all held together with duct tape. The tables are all worn from age. We were promptly seated by a miserable hostess and then a waiter came and threw 2 menus on the table with water. That was the last time anyone came to our table for 15 minutes. Both of our menus were on the table. The 7 old hags were more interested in talking to each other in their smoke riddled voices then taking our order. We werent even offered drinks while we waited. This diner needs to so everyone a favor and close up or sell to someone who will update it from the 60s and hire staff born in the past 30 years not the past 100. If I could rate it a negative i would. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

I had the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant tonight. The way The Pilgrim Diner treats their employees is DISGUSTING. My boyfriend and I had a lovely waitress and wanted to tip her extra generously and found out by management that we were NOT allowed to do so and that 20 percent gratuity was too much. Our bill came out to roughly 21 dollars and wanted to give her 50 dollars as a tip but he told us we could only tip 5 dollars. So we gave her all the cash we had as a tip and then proceeded to go across the street to an ATM to take out another 40 to give to our waitress. What kind of establishment would not allow something like that, that is absolutely insane!

Place is absolutely filthy. I have been going here for over 25 years. It has been so neglected I wont even walk in there anymore which is such a shame. Its at the top of my street and was always a great place to grab a bite. But not anymore. If it looks that bad in the front of the house i couldnt imagine what the kitchen looks like that no one sees. I am amazed the health department hasnt shut them down. I wish they would invest some money and get it back to what it used to be. Until then I wont go back.

I really did not enjoy my experience at the Pilgrim Diner. I went here with my friend and the waitress was really cold and rude. We ordered a spinach pie to start and I ordered a chopped steak while my friend ordered a burger. We also ordered a few drinks so our bill was around 50 dollars. The food is not that good. The spinach pie was really good and I think one of the best things on the menu, however the rest of their food is not so great. The soup has a metal taste to it while the chopped steak and my friends burger taste bland. If you are to eat there, just go for their spinach pie and ignore the rest. The waitress was cold and rude. She forgot our silverware and when we requested it, she was grumbling and tosses the silverware on the table and walked away. When I finished my glass of water, I requested a refill. She replied You get what you get and walked away. Lastly when we asked to split the bill, the waitress yelled and lectured us that it is wrong for us to ask the bill to be split. I had enough and took the bill and pay it in full. This is the first time I have been denied of water and being lectured at in a restaurant. I never done this before, but I left no tip.

As long as you manage expectations, as a typical New Jersey Diner, this place hits the spot. I ordered a Greek omelette along with OJ and coffee along with a side of cottage cheese and ate like a king. My server was your stereotypical curly waitress but she was agreeable enough. The decor is of course outdated, but quaint.I dig this place and will make it part of the rotation.

CLOSED for a much needed renovation or possibly even for good. The Pilgrim Diner was always a traditionally good diner with a nice large variety menu like most diners, but it definitely went downhill over the last few years. Torn seats repaired with duct tape and a general un-kept kind of look and feel. Hopefully it makes a strong come back in the near future.

I took my grandson out for breakfast. He is 3.5 years old. The diner does not have a kids menu and brought my order for silver dollar pancakes and link sausages for an adult. I wasnt careful to read the menu and the waitress told me only after the order was delivered that they do not offer a kids menu. So, my grandson ate 2 silver dollar pancakes and bit off one hugh pork link sausages at the adult price. The cashier made a joke about a 92 year old patron who makes an order only to take half home. I didnt find the analogy appropriate. Grandmas unless you want your grandchild to eat the same take home pancakes for several days, dont go there. The service was not hospitable, but were African American and that may have something to do with it.

What a place. Have gone here for as long as I can remember. Its not the cleanest, the newest, friendliest and the food isnt always great. Yet it has been the local Meetup for friends and family at least for me for about 15 years. I have been there at almost all times of the day. 8 am, noon, 4pm, 8pm, 3 am after drinking all night with Friends. Its just a place you go. The poor old Pilgrim Diner is falling apart. In a state that is filled with GOOD diners, you should avoid this one. From the banquettes with actual holes & stuffing falling out of them to the dirty, taped-together blinds ... I would hate to see the terrible condition of the kitchen, if the public areas look like this. There was a time when it was pretty decent. Now, its just decrepit.

Went in for coffee with my husband. Asked for the check and was told by the waitress $5.35. I asked her if they accepted debit cards and she said I dont know why anyone would use a card for only $5.35? I asked her again and she ran my card. No written check? Hassel about paying with plastic? She wanted to put the whole check in her pocket. Steal from the owners. I asked the girl at check out why I got such a problem from the waitress, and she acted clueless. Im pretty sure the hostess and the waitress are regularly scamming the owners of this diner. I dont think they realize that they could be arrested for their little operation. Needless to say, I want no involvement, and wont be returning.
