Jerry has always been incredibly helpful- cuts glass for my picture frames, makes helpful suggestions, puts batteries in my watches for minimal amounts - no jewelry store can match his prices. Just an all around prince of a guy. A great group of guys also work there.

There is absolutely nothing not to love about this hometown hardware store. The staff is highly knowledge and personable and always willing to give advice. Its a local hardware store so set your expectations that youll find a great assortment and selection of the basic items you need for the repair and upkeep of your home.

This place is phenomenal. When you need something for a job your doing, the immediate thought is Home Depot or Lowes. More often than not though they dont have it, or there is nobody to ask for help. Major Hardware Supply in Cedar Grove will have it and the knowledgeable staff will help you every step of the way to solve your problem.

What I miss most about NJ having moved to TX is this little hardware store where you never leave without either the item you wanted and/or advice on how to complete a job - all in no time at all. Kudos to the owner and all his helpers on a very special feel-good place thats sadly disappearing all too quickly with so many big box stores.

The place itself is good. Have shopped there many times but when you have other “customers” who isn’t wearing a mask and is berating you about wearing a mask during a pandemic it becomes time to shop somewhere else. This “customer” is a reflection of the store and I will not be going back.

Another review said “not the friendliest” - I’d say that’s a huge understatement. I brought a glass frame for a storm door in about a month ago to be repaired. After such a long time passed with no word, I called to inquire. I was friendly and honestly just looking for any info. The poor employee on the phone tried to help me by inquiring to presumably his boss. That person proceeded to literally scream at him and me. He offered no answers and no help and was extremely rude. I was shocked and told the employee that I was so sorry for him that he was treated so badly. Abusive, rude, totally uncalled for. Terrible customer service. I still have no idea when I’ll get my glass frame back.

Small and deceiving but stocked fully. They knew exactly what I needed. So much better than the big box store by miles. Shop locally!

They dont sell wood!! Im in construction and Ive never seen nor heard of a hardware store that doesnt even sell 2x4s! Plus all their power tools are the cheapest in the business. U want a quality hardware store go to American Royal hardware in Montclair. Now when I tell u they have everything, they have everything. They screen, cut plexi, cut glass, fix windows, and doors, cut shades, cut metal, have house hold products, covid products, plus an unbelievable, knowledgeable work staff. Christ they even have a variety of paints, ropes, chains, fix almost anything n everything. They literally have a variety of everything!

I’ve been coming here my entire life and I’ve never had any problems. The staff is exceptional helpful and know exactly what they are doing. The place has very fair prices and good quality products as well. If you are looking for anything the first place to check is this place.

The team at Major is fantastic. They are always there for me. I recently went in to buy a propane tank, and ended up having fun just exploring the store. Jerry also helped me find a masonry anchor I needed. He even explained how to put it in...and his help made it so easy. LOVE THIS PLACE!!

I come to Cedar Grove every other month to see my elderly mom. There are always little repairs needed around her house, and the guys at Major Hardware could not be more helpful. From rock salt to toilet parts and everything in between, they are personable, glad to give advice on installations, and a pleasure to deal with. Reminds me of the good old days before the big box hardware stores.

I do not live in town but stop in when I am in the area. I have never had a bad experience, the selection is amazing for such a (not so gigantic Big box store) and the prices are ok compared to other hardware stores, the few that still survive. The Major is a top notch guy and has a serious, disciplined demeanor that some may confuse with unflattering intensity. I assure you he is one of the many decent merchants in the area. He is also extremely helpful in finding what you need and donates quite often to area schools and organizations. I salute the Major whenever I see him, and it is not just that I am a veteran, he has my full respect as person.(War)

I happily visit Jerry & his crew often.They provide something wonderful, that is sadly becoming a thing of the past: EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE and service with a smile too.Its so nice to know that right around the corner is a friendly, neighborhood hardware store where I can buy a service such as having a lockset keyed or getting duplicate keys cut, as well as having a resource for specialty light bulbs, batteries, paint & other assorted items.And of course, there are always the free doughnuts :-)

When I started my local handyman business about a year ago, I shopped mainly in the big box highway stores. While working locally, I decided to try Major Hardware where I met Pete, Gerry, and Bill. Not only were they extremely helpful and knowledgeable, but their prices were very close to what I would have paid on the highway. In my business time is money and a quick run to Major saves me plenty of time and therefore makes my customers happy. The depth of their inventory, their ability to order and receive needed items quickly, usually next day and most of all Gerrys 51 years in this business provide guidance that youll NEVER receive on the highway.The Foodtown parking lot provides ample parking even on the busiest of days.And for those of us who appreciate a pleasant shopping experience, I recommend the cookies/cakes/pastries that always seem to be on the counter for all to enjoy.Stop by on a Sunday morning for a coffee and bagel/doughnut ... Dont know if it was just an off day for them, but was not happy. Not the first time weve shopped here, family lives in town. Stopped in for a new clothes line with my sister. We were greeted just fine, but after we were pointed in the right direction and found what we were looking for, we where being watched like a hawk looking for road kill. Very uncomfortable..
