I hope you get a chance to read this review before you decide to do business with this company. We were quoted a price to receive a re manufactured engine that would take 3-4 weeks to get in and 1 day for his mechanic to install..So, A MONTH and a half goes by and no word from them at all. Called them(instead of them calling me with updated info). After calling them I was told that all of the sudden the engine they were ordering was unavailable. I was annoyed to say the least from the lack of communication. They then tell me that they could get a new engine through the same company I said lets do it and Please communicate if anything else comes up.Three weeks later I call back down to see how things are progressing. Then Im told they could not get the engine at all. So whats my next step?... they tell me that no one will rebuild that engine. basically they will have to look for another engine and have them fab something up to make it work in my machine and they will get back to me when they find something that will work in my machine. (let me say by this time I figured I would be calling them back) two more weeks go by and I call in and they say, we are not having any luck finding something that will work in there. :( But wait they call me back a half hour later to tell me they found someone who CAN rebuild my old block and that it would cost me 4 to 5 thousand dollars with the RNR only taking 1 day again.I said Sweet lets do it. A month later (yes no excavator for all this time and still no communication) I call down and they tell me the engine is still being worked on in Portland but it is supposed to be back down in a week.three weeks later... Call again, they say it has not been shipped because there waiting on a part from China ... 3x three more weeks because that is how long parts. I call them Monday, they say it will be ready Thursday, Friday at the latest. I get a call Thursday saying it will be done tomorrow (Friday) and I ask so how much do I need to bring you as they had told me 4-5 thousand I was Dumbstruck when he said $8000 :| I said Wait you told me very clearly that we were looking at 4-5 grand last we spoke price. He says well this is what the hours added up too and price of parts. I said dont you think if at any point the price was going up you should have communicated that across to me? he says Fine you can have it for $6000 and I wont make much off of it then! But never bring this machine back to my shop! (with my experience with there company why would I ever bring anything to them. Then after this outburst.. I was once again dumbstruck that you could run a business with such a bad attitude towards customers and such poor communication. (Oh yeah and they decided to give us NO warranty on this engine)When we got our machine back we ran it the same day, less then two hours and it dies on us..we open up the hatch to find our Diesel line is spraying all over the engine bay it just fell off. Two hours later we notice oil dripping from the machine. I check the engine bay and there is oil Everywhere! Check the dip stick and its bone dry on a engine with NO warranty now. they tore the gasket when putting the oil filter on.We have to stop production yet again to go get an oil filter and a gasket for another part witch they left oil dripping from. at this point we go over every inch of the engine that we can see from the outside (not being mechanics) and find all sorts of loose bolts and missing clips throttle cable fell off almost immediately when we started running it. All kinds of down time needless to say. I got to speak with the mechanic and showed him the stuff that was done wrong and he says and I quote Once it leaves that gate its not our problem then I asked him about a few other things and he says It was fine when we ran it after it leaves we are not responsible AND THE BOSS IS NEXT TO HIM NODDING ..I said to him that is kinda garbage dont you think? You have to care about what happens after it leaves your shop right? Worst Experience with anybody/business in my life.
I drove 500 miles to look at a John Deere backhoe that Derek described over the phone. When I got there and drove it, it was all and more than he described. Dave in the shop, was very knowledgeable and was happy to explain the maintenance on it. These guys are great, so whether you have to drive 5 miles or 500 miles to buy a quality tractor for a great price, call Derek at American Tractor.
I bought a diesel Ingersoll Rand air compressor from these guys. I waited two months before posting the review to see how the machine worked. Its been running like a champ daily. They were great to deal with. The machine was clearly gone over and checked before they sold it to us. Buying used is always a bit of a gamble, but I would easily trust them in the future.
Recently purchased a backhoe and was impressed with their knowledge, honest evaluation of what I was looking to buy. Have been completely satisfied with our purchase a few months back.Cameron was excellent to work with.
Doing construction work in the area and one of the track broke on our skid steer. They really went above and beyond to get it fixed as fast as they could. I highly recommend American Tractor.
We dealt primarily with the sales associate Derek, but it we felt like we were treated nice, treated fair. The whole transaction was professional, easy, and quick. They were patient with all of our questions, and all of our requests. We would deal with them again if we needed something else.
Bought a backhoe from them. Youd think they would have serviced it for the sale. Im doing the 1000 and 500 hour service after using the machine for about 50 hours in the past three years. Hydraulic fluid is like chocolate, apparently cant trust that anything was maintained. Do yourself a favor, if you buy a machine from these guys insist that it goes to the local dealer for a full checkout, condition appraisal, and servicing. Dont trust these guys otherwise you wont get anything more than an overpriced powerwashed machine from an auction.
I bought a brush chipper from American Tractor and they were a pleasure to work with. It was reassuring to have solid mechanics go through the machine, change the filters, and give the chipper a once over before sending me on my way. The Chipper works great and Id buy from these guys again.
I highly recommend American tractor really looking forward to using my new mini excavator
