I really like this company. I have been been making trips there to buy rocks for the Japanese garden i was helping to build. They have a very large selection of different kinds of rock and soil. Their prices are very affordable too. The staff is usually always available to help customers. Even when they have to be called it doesnt take long for them to show up which I extremely appreciate. Their staff members seem to all be very knowledgeable in everything they are selling which I also really appreciate. There is nothing more annoying than having to go on a hunt for the only employee that knows what they are talking about so that you can get all your questions answered.

***Update*** Nov 4, 2020*Received a call from Mike at Hilton and was given some options on how to organically treat the soil, however I have already removed it and disposed of it in a way not to spread any weeds. Mike offered to refund the cost of the 10 yards we received and later had to remove. I do appreciate that. He assured me this was an anomaly having Jimsonweed in their soil.*Original post:Was hoping not to have to post this review, but the invasive, deadly weeds that were included in my 10 yards of Chets mix was unacceptable. I had Jimsonweed growing out of my raised beds (brand new, this was the first soil placed inside) and also growing directly out of the pile of dirt that was delivered. I reached out to Hilton and received an email back from Mike Taylor. I responded twice to his email (his email attached in photos) and have never heard a response. I have free range chickens and sell my eggs as organic. I had to spray a Round up/Crossbow mix on the areas that were in the yard and though the area was fenced off with snow fence, I cannot market my eggs as organic. Jimsonweed is extremely deadly to animals...including my chickens and dogs. I also had to remove the Chets mix from my raised beds as I will not use chemicals in my vegetable garden. I reached out to Hilton to find a solution to the problem. I did not ask for my money back, rather I asked for solutions. I have not heard back from Hilton since September 16th despite multiple attempts of contacting Mike. (Today is November 2nd.) I withheld writing a negative review truly in hoping that the issue would be resolved.

I’d like to leave zero stars for Hilton soils.I’ve been in contact with Hilton soils for over two weeks. I had originally placed an order with them because other soil I had purchased was way too hot and was ordering more to use so I could stay on top of planting. I spoke to Michelle over the phone and John I believe- both assuring me that I would have absolutely no issues with the soil being too hot and I could plant right in. Today my soil delivery arrived, tested the soil temp two feet into the pile and it was over 100 degrees. The delivery driver told me it has been an issue of selling too hot of soil this season-Talked to the manager on duty today he was very rude, refused that the soil could be that hot (which I tested with a thermometer) and said they have never had that issue. Refused any help in resolving the issue and hung up the phone on me.I spent over $1,100 with them and will not be returning. I highly suggest going elsewhere for better service and products.

The crew at Hilton’s treated us like family! Our favorite was the CAT operator that dumped the load of soil into our truck talked with our young son and made sure he had a front row view of the action! Absolutely made his - and ours - day! Thank you for being amazing, the great advise, and continued community support :)

Customer service is sketchy. Gals are nice. Some of the guys dont seem very interested in helping you. And they price ding you anywhere they can. Buying landscape gravel, they charge $2.00 for each bag used, and ANOTHER $2.00 per bag to have their employee put the gravel in the bag! Even if you only have each bag fill 1/4 full. That should be a courtesy service, considering how expensive the product is.

They are wonderful. I had ordered the wrong sand to be delivered first thing in the morning. They helped me get the right sand and still delivered it in time. Kind, professional and have a sense of humor.

Be ready to load things yourself, which should be no problem because everyone has a bobcat with them at all times. No problem...Prices are not fair, as a contractor I would know. Also, no discount for bulk or contractors. This place is definitely priced for retail not wholesale.Only good thing is the selection.

Update: 5/12 The matter was finally put to rest. I want to say thank you to Teddy to who reached out and helped us come to a resolution. It did take almost an entire month, and we waited most of the day a couple weeks back for a manager to come on site to see the delivery who never showed up, but they refunded our delivery cost for the materials. It was fair, and helped offset the hassle of bringing in help to move the rocks, and they were very nice on the phone, just wish it hadnt taken so long, or had been necessary in the first place. But they did make sure something was done to make it right and it is greatly appreciated.------Just had a delivery made and it was an absolute nightmare. I ordered 6 tons of 6-10 granite for rip rap. I was told by Chris the dispatch manager that some pieces might be slightly larger or smaller, because someone would be eyeballing the size before loading them on the truck. I told him that was fine, 12 or even larger would be fine, but about basketball size at the largest.When the driver arrived he asked me to look at the load because some of the rock was slightly larger. I was shocked. some of the rocks were boulders, over two feet in diameter, enormous. I planned on moving all the of rock by hand, and it is not feasible to move rock of this size. I asked him to call back the manager and see what the options were. The manager told him that there were no options, either I take the rock or not.At this point I climbed to the top of the truck to try to get a better idea of how much of the rock was the right size, it was incredibly difficult to gauge from the truckload what was underneath and throughout the pile.I asked him to call the manager back so I could speak to him. I was connected again to Chris, and he was most unhelpful. He said that he warned me that the size wouldnt be exact, and that he assured me that he wouldnt ship me out another load just to see if if I liked it or not. To either pay for it, or send it back for a refund. I told him it wasnt about whether I liked it or not, it was about being delivered what I paid for. He said he didnt have time for it, and that I either take it or leave it. I asked if he could offer a discount to account for the inaccuracy of the order, and he said no, that if i take the order, I pay for it.I have no problem paying for what I ask for, but he offered no option to make it right, no second order, no remorse, nothing, made it sound as if it were my fault for not liking what they brought me.I am attaching the pictures of the load after I separated out what I could lift on my own. I estimate over half of the order is not what I paid for.I understand the difficulties that sorting rocks might be, but DONT say you can deliver something, and then not do it. And not offer to make it right. I am thoroughly unsatisfied with this order, and after sorting it, I know I will have to pay someone to move this rock away, and pay for more rock to actually finish the project since there was nowhere near enough rock size in the actual order to do the project.Very disappointed with Hiltons and their customer service and the way they do business. Im not saying that all experiences will be similar, but just letting folks know that they were absolutely terrible on this occasion.

Re: Compost. I purchased 100 yards of their house Compost, the best in the state. Ive found more trash and chunky bits of undigwsted junk materials than Id prefer. It is cheap though. You get what you pay for.

EDITING:So the one time we visited in March the woman in the main building was beyond rude with zero customer service skills (we left without purchasing anything) the second time (today, July 2nd) we arrived and the place looks open but completely unstaffed. Assuming closed for holiday weekend but no signs posted. Several other customers milling around thinking the place is open. Bizarre business tactics to say the least. Unfortunate considering they appear to have a great selection of product to choose from.SINCE MY ORIGINAL POSTING I HAVE GONE IN 3 MORE TIMES. I have not had any additional issues aside of then being out of the gorgeous turquoise boulders. Have been kind and helpful. I enjoy going there and seeing what they have to offer :)
