Good food and nice atmosphere. The truffle Fries are delicious! Must try! The grilled cheese was also very good and so was the salmon. Prices were higher but its to be expected from a nicer restaurant. Should definitely check this place out if youve never been.

I thought it was good ng to be a very upscale place. But it is just an everyday place with good food and wine. People were dressed casual and yeah. Great place. I thought our waiter was a tad slow for the price of the food. But, I also know that staffs are hurting right now so I am not sure what all he was doing so I did not think much of it. He was still a great waiter and very nice.

We had eight plates of oyster during the oyster week lol… That food is so great and satisfying. Staff were nice but I would be better if the food can be served a bit more quickly (I understand Friday night is busy still…). Lucky to have this place in town.

In town for a few days and so glad someone recommended this place. The food was amazing—especially the truffle fries. The vibes are really enjoyable too; it’s a nice place, but not pretentious or stuffy at all. The people were friendly and service was good. I will definitely come back the next time I’m in town.

Lots of great items to choose from. Recommend the goat cheese dip with pita chips. Lots of items are shareable. Lobster rolls good and so was the Italian beef sandwich save room for dessert live the chocolate mouse.

Good variety. Had a shrimp wrap. The sauce was the highlight. A little close to 2x what I would expect to pay for a meal, but the ingredients tasted high quality. Definitely get the truffle fries - made the trip worth it!

Tonight we went for dinner and sat at the bar, where Kristin was absolutely awesome! She labeled all of our to go containers which is a little thing but was just so cute and fun. We very much enjoyed our evening.Overall pros:- Generally pretty good food- The spaetzle is amazing- The atmosphere is cute! And nice for outdoor dining.- Best truffle fries in townOverall cons:- Kind of overpriced, especially for Champaign- The risotto has sliced and seared Brussels sprouts now, bring back the shaved!! As an update, Sun Singer more than took care of my issue with a replacement excellent meal. I have updated my rating. Thanks!I normally enjoy eating here. They used to have the best prime rib in town. Today we ordered takeout and I ordered the 12 Oz ribeye. Given the cost, I was looking forward to a great meal. The ribsye was much smaller than 12 oz and was very tough. As opposed to medium rare, it was closer to well done. I was very disappointed.

Enjoyed brunch; personally I would have preferred a bigger steak, but it was cooked perfectly.

I’ve been to Sun Singer many times and the food is generally very good. I went there last night and had the half Reuben half chicken and cranberry salad, very good as usual. Sadly, I am very turned off by the service at the deli counter and this is likely the last time I plan to support Sun Singer. I live in the neighborhood and walked over again tonight and stood at the deli counter for 12 minutes. I just wanted a pound of the jerk chicken salad. I was never acknowledged by the lady working the counter. Never a word as she worked on prepping appetizers to say “hey I’m busy I’ll be with you in a few minutes.” This is the second time this has happened to me at the deli counter. The other time I waited patiently until I could finally be served. This time I walked out the door without any food, probably for the last time.

It was okay, I wish they had more vegan options, particularly for brunch. Pancakes are easily made vegan. I had the veg Rueben and I wish the bread was stiffer, it was soft and soggy and falling apart. The beets were not served roasted as listed, but they were still nice.

Menu is solid. Food was good. However, the Servers were pretentious and it seemed intentionally condescending. I’ve been in the F&B industry for over 20 years, am an experienced chef, and have eaten in countless fine establishments around the country. I have never, ever experienced such an awful vibe from a service staff. The dude assigned to us was brash, sloppy and unkempt. He looked like he just rolled in from the party. He and the server we had to ask for a glass of water after sitting for 15 minutes without any after arrival, were not happy to be waiting on us (two guys, middle aged- why not, money to be made!). The hostess wasn’t happy I requested a 4 top in front of the window instead of a two top in the corner (even though the dining room was empty)..To Mgmt- I live in C-U and can say- there’s not a lot of great places to wine and dine in town. Do yourselves, the chef, and BOH staff a favor and hire some FOH staff that care about themselves, their craft, their customers and your restaurant. You guys could be great. I also NEVER write negative reviews on restaurants. That’s how poor my experience was-

I give my background, not to tout my credentials, but simply to indicate my frame of reference. I have been in the food industry for 30 years and have traveled and sampled some of the finest restaurants. I want to give this establishment 4 stars because it is charming, unique and has some outstanding dishes. My comments are made without an axe to grind, I simply want this place to succeed. I like this place! I have been here twice. The first time one of four dishes was incorrect. But the meals were extremely well prepared. The only down side from a service standpoint was when the, I assume manager, told us they recommend we make reservations in the future. It was not said with a smile, but rather as a teacher might tell a student not to come to class late. On the second visit to the restaurant, the french fries were incredible. The Salmon Caesar salad was very good but a bit too heavy on the lemon. The deserts were exquisite. The coffee was delicious but was not hot. My Schnitzel however, was extremely disappointing. It was way overcooked and the pork was almost non-existent.I could not taste the pork. It was as if I was eating fried breading, (not an exaggeration). If you have had authentic Schnitzel, this is not that. In my opinion, this item should be removed from the menu as it might deter customers from future visits. If I didnt have faith in the restaurants potential, I would not return. But I will! And I would recommend others to do the same! There are some great dishes here. I believe Sun Singer just needs to tighten up a few things.

When you go to a restaurant, you expect the price to match the quality of the food. In this instance, I paid way too much, and received food nowhere near that value. The food was, at best, okay. It wasnt outright bad which is why this review isnt a one star, but there are places that offer what they offer for better and cheaper. Keep looking.

Rick gave wonderful service for my carry-out order for my large event. He was very thorough and made sure everything was perfect. The food was delicious and the servers helped me pack my vehicle. Thank you, I was very pleased!

Sun Singer is an absolute gem. All of the lunch items that my party shared were amazing. We were there for a business lunch and the staff was extremely accommodating. Our server was very thoughtful and gave great service. The dinner menu looked amazing along with the wine selection and the store in general. I was very impressed and will return.

Recent visit ….. first time patron. Found the meal overpriced and nothing special. My meal was lukewarm and for what I paid, it should have been exceptional. My friend who was with me found his meal mediocre. Waitstaff was very nice but I’m not spending this kind of money for a dinner just because the service is good.

The host Bradley was exceptional. He was extremely polite and was on point. I even asked him what he recommended and he new exactly what he would’ve picked. All in all, food was magnificent.

We had a small party at Sun Singer over in their shopping area. It was a fantastic celebration, and Ruby, our server, was incredible. Everyone provided stellar service and we are still enjoying the leftover food today. Many compliments and very reasonably priced.

At first the bartender was very standoff age. Did not like it that reception to a paying customer.Food was good but found it highly priced against other similar venues.The food quality was good.

Ordered take out off the restaurant week menu and it was delicious! Crispy food stayed crispy until we were able to make it home, which is not an easy feat for take-out. They were incredibly helpful in assisting us with picking out a bottle of wine to go with our meal. And I feel like I learned a lot about wine in the process!

Restaurant reviewI still cant believe it has been so long since I last came back to Sun Singer. My wife still feels that this is the best restaurant in Champaign as they have fresh fish that rotates every week. I decided to come back during restaurant week, however there deals were so so. For dinner they had 7 dollar apps, if you get a cheese plate and 2 glasses of wine it would be 1 price for the 2 glasses of wine, and also 50% off dessert with each entree purchase. Finally they gave a certificate for 10 dollar off brunch if you spent enough money. I did not realize they had seating in a dining room area to the left side of the restaurant which would move the kids away from the bottles of wine that were not kid friendly in the past. Our waiter was quite friendly and took our orders promptly. The cheese plate lacks the presentation of the cheese plate at V Picasso, however I cant complain with the free warm complimentary bread. My main dish was the prime rib that was had perfect flavor and cooked to order. The one downside was the food was only borderline warm and the sides that the prime rib came with were a bit plain. Mash potatoes (reminded me of a cafeteria ice cream scoop serving) and broccoli, sides of asparagus and maybe loaded mash potatoes would compliment this dish better. Finally the tiramisu was good, but the chocolate dressing was a bit much masking the delicate texture and flavors of tiramisu. As this is my wifes favorite restaurant we will be back, however it does carry a hefty cost as our meal cost about 100 dollars with tax and tip and no alcohol.

They used to be a good restaurant for vegetarians, but they no longer are. For some reason I cannot understand, they eliminated the veggie burger from their menu, which was actually really good. Im boycotting them until they bring it back.

Patio seating. Kitchen closes at 10pm on Sat. Open til 11pm. Arrived just before 9:30 pm and ordered Prime rib special. Food was great and service was excellent. Wine selection is good and has store within restaurant.

We recently visited Sun Singer after over a year and were very disappointed by the small portion sizes. We ordered a cup of chili and soup and each was less than 1/2 cup in size ($ 5 each). In addition, we ordered a Black Diamond cheese plate ($ 9) and the cheese was served as small pile of crumbles. The 2 grapes that came with the cheese plate were also cut in half to make it appear as if there was more of them. These 3 items and one drink came out to $ 35. Likely our last visit.

Overpriced and underwhelming. The fried oysters were flavorful but very mushy and poorly presented. The “wimpy” burger definitely stands up to its name. Very bland. This is a quality restaurant. Quick and cooperative service for my whole party of 7. If you want an upscale restaurant that isn’t over the top fancy, this is it. Has a more low-key atmosphere, so I would recommend it if you like that sort of thing. Prices are about what you expect for a restaurant of this level but you get what you pay for so it’s worth it. The bathrooms are small, but kept clean at least.

I only had a little less than 30 minutes to get in and out. I asked before they sat me if that would be an issue, and they assured me it wouldnt be a problem. I think start to finish I was there for 15 minutes, and thats because I took my time. I had the best BLT of my life, and left a very happy camper!

Looooooved this place. We visited in February. We got the main charcuterie board...my goodness that blueberry goat cheese was de.li.cious! I had their squash soup...divine! It is pricey, but its worth it. Definitely visiting this place again when things sorta get back to normal.

Sunsinger is one of my all time favorite restaurants. Their steak wrap with truffle fries is amazing. They also have great appetizers, and one of the best wine lists in town. The majority of their staff has been there for years and years, and it’s simply an all star team. I especially enjoy sitting on their patio in the summer, and if I am ever having people over, Sunsinger is my one stop shop for dips, spreads, cheeses, and accompaniments. The staff is all very knowledgeable and happy to take the time to make recommendations and answer questions.

Was very disappointed that theyre serving a limited menu now that outdoor seating is here! Finally a date with my wife and we both wanted our favorite Coffee crusted filet but not offered :( Really sad. I am sure not the only one seeking some shred of normalcy! No date night to prior satisfaction due to Covid. We wont be back till a full menu is offered :(

Sun Singer appeared on the scene when this part of town was desperately in need of a great cafe/wine bar type of place. Years later it is still booming and I love to go there for lunch, happy hour, you name it. The food is high quality and the service is great. We also love getting food (and wine) to go from there. The staff is so helpful at putting together good cheese and wine pairings. Laurent especially is one of our favorites!

This was my first time eating here. I was on my way back home from vacation and had a colleague recommend this place. Great food and attentive service, plus a wide selection of food, wine and spirits. Next time Im in the area, I wont hesitate to return.

My wife and I enjoy coming here. The food menu is good and for the most part the service is great. Since adding their new dining room, weve seen wait time for food increase.The also have a great selections of wine and craft beer. We usually buy something before we leave. The wine & beverage retail side employees are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Our favorite local restaurant! All the food is good. Great burgers and sandwiches, good variety of salads and entrees. Oyster week once a month. Weekend brunch. Try the French toast! Of course a great wine selection and cocktails. Good for lunch and dinner. Meet a friend, take the family or that special someone!

Wonderful people, very helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and they have the best cheese and wine. Just an example of how thoughtful the staff is, Im VERY pregnant and before they offered me a sample (and without commenting on my pregnancy) one of the guys behind the counter checked and let me know that the cheese sample was pasteurized. They also offered several suggestions of cheeses Id like when I asked for recommendations based on my faves.

Sun Singer has amazing salads! The environment is nice, very casual yet classy. The servece was average, nothing outstanding....the only thing is the prices are a bit high and the food other that the salads are not always worth the price. I ha e had both great and terrible experiences here. Overall, I do like it and I would go again (for salads) or a light meal.
