They were great and super quick

BEWARE OF SIMPLIFIED COMPUTERS: I had Simplified Computers install a new battery into my Mac. It could be the case they they lied and installed a used battery into my computer. Before I describe that, firstly know that for a battery install they charge almost $100 more than an Apple store. Youre better off driving a couple hours up north to do it because then you know youre getting an actual Apple battery that is brand new, plus FOR FREE Apple will replace your keyboard if you have worn keys. Whats more, it seems like Simplified took too long to give my product back. Regardless, after only 6 months, the battery that they installed was garbage. It would not hold a charge for more than about an hour. Moreover, their battery exploded inside my computer by swelling up so big that it popped open the bottom case. Their solution to their customer was to charge me again to have them replace it, but this time theyd knock off about $50. The Apple rep showed me that the battery that Simplified sold me had had 347 charge cycles, which according to the Apple rep is suspicious. He said that it is very unusual that after only 6 months there are 347 cycles. Without saying it, it seemed insinuated that Simplified had so me a used battery. Simplified definitely sold me a defective battery. Instead of good faith free replacement they wanted to charge me for yet another possibly used or defective battery plus charge labor (at a discount this time (yay)). They will say that they only have a 30 day warranty on batteries, etc., yeah yeah save it. Batteries usually last 30 days you thieves. And remember, the only reason that the battery broke after 30 days is because they sold me a defective, exploding, product. This place is not honest, they do not want to help customers, and so AVOID them. They should know how painful it is to be without a computer because of their slow two weeks, plus their bad product caused me to lose 8 more days by taking it to Apple. If they wouldve simply replaced it with something new, they wouldve had a customer for life, making potentially thousands of dollars with me. Now theyre getting reported to the Better Business Bureau. So ignorant.

I received excellent service from Jackie(Sp?) at Simply Computers. Not only did they have the power adapter cable, but he noticed and even corrected the loose hinge on my old laptop for free. Very impressed and recommended!

I took my laptop in Thursday night, since the screen was not working. They told me it would probably be Monday or Tuesday before someone would look at it & call back. They gave me their rates & ballpark costs for worse case scenario up front. The best part was they called me 25 hours later & it was a minor repair with only a 1 hr fee.On another visit they helped me find a screw small enough to fix my daughters favorite headphones. They are good people.

Quick service. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Nothing more stressful than when computers and storage go wrong. Very relieved that they were able to fix my issues.

Wow! James Reiter took our issue seriously and gave us honest advice when he could have charged us for a recall issue. He saved us $700 by providing the information we needed. My new go-to will be Simplified Computers. He definitely earned my trust. Thank you, James!

I have used Simplified Computers several times for repairs (and to build a computer for me) and have been happy with their exceptional service and have never had a surprise bill. They do the work timely, go beyond the problem I bring it in for to make my computer better- in short they have always exceeded expectations.

Yeah I wouldnt never recommend this place to anyone. First time taking my PC to get work on. Reason this place gets 1 star. Had countless of times being lied to (due date my computer would be done)and false statements. Also called to cancel the work in time since it wasnt touch after 5 days. It was agreed upon. so, i go in to pick it up but still got charge a full hour ....after talking over the phone with an older lady! So if you do want your PC to be hold for weeks and lied to.. then this is your place!

Today I has the pleasure of working with James at Simplified Computers to fix several problems with my Comcast email, contacts and calendars. He fixed everything! while teaching me how to better use the programs and he tidied up my desktop to maximize accessibility. They are way better than Geek Squad. I didnt have to make an appointment and they immediately knew what the issue was. They fixed my computer in 2 business days and the cost was reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone with computer issues in the area.

I was looking to purchase a Gaming PC and decided on a Ryzen 7 tower. I live an hour away and could have gone someplace closer but I have had exceptional service from here when I lived here and I knew the trip was worth it, and it was, 2 times.I live up north and I had decided to drive down to pick up the Ryzen 7 computer and everything went great until payment. I failed to realize my bank has a limit per day on my purchases and the computer exceeded that amount and I live in a small town bank and it was later in the evening and I was out of luck. James and Jackie, had done so much too try to help me get it that evening and had went above and beyond what I was expecting to take care of me. They were friendly, understanding, and professional. James even waited for me after hours to try and purchase it through other means of getting around my transaction limit. I ended up only being able to put just under a half of the cost that evening and came back the next morning to finalize it all.Alana was there in the morning and was very professional and friendly and quick with service. She helped me bring the computer out to my car and wished me a great day.I definitely recommend this business and I am happy to spend my money here.

Have had a great experience with them this far through the process. My computer got destroyed by lightning and I needed an experts opinion on what happened for insurance purposes. When I walked in I was told on average it is 3-5 days for service. I got a call back 5 hours later and they are already done! They have me set up with everything I need for insurance and Im picking it up tomorrow.Thanks for the speedy service!!

I purchased a EVGA GeForce 2060 RTX graphics card about 3 days ago (12/21/20) from Simplified Computers. Completely unopened by me (they actually UNSEAL all of their new product), I decided that I should go with the EVGA GeForce 2060 Super RTX. Halfway through the transaction, I was told that their antiquated & obsolete transaction software would not allow the credit to go directly toward the 2060 Super and that I would be forced to pay the full $420 plus tax and that the refund for the regular 2060 would be applied to my debit card which could take several days, maybe even weeks. I left the store completely unsatisfied. NO, I do NOT recommend Simplified Computers if this is how bad their return-to-exchange process is. I was not even asking for a refund! I just wanted to exchange and I would be happy to pay the difference! Its whatever, this is most definitey NOT my definition of simplified as suggested by their store name. Computer components are expensive enough and now who knows how long it would take to have $348.80 in limbo waiting to be returned to me while waiting with another ENTIRE $460 debited from my card. Thanks, but no thanks.

Ive used the services of Simplified Computers twice in the past threeweeks--once for security inspection and installation, and the second time,a house call for a Wi-Fi problem. The service was excellent both times.They are truly a local treasure for computer problems.

Best used computers your going to find in this county. Need to update their website more though, kinda felt like a bait and switch, but its also understandable with the businesses right now.

Bought my computer from them about 2 and 1/2 years ago. It crashed and the technician WIPED out everything and said I need to reinstall. This would be programs over $1000 I purchased for a business. I am beyond frustrated and working to get those problems solved for a little less money. Let alone the time it is taking. Still costing me each day. Tried to explain to me how to do in Computer lingo I didn’t understand No help at all

I decided to support mom & pop shops and so I went to Simplified Computers. I found what I wanted and the price was good. The staff is very accommodating and knowledgeable. Jackie, Jarrod, and most others are courteous (find THAT in a big box store!) and Ive never regretted my purchase. Theyve debugged me quickly each time (well, twice) that I took it in and the computer works really well.After I bought the computer, I went to two big box stores to see their prices on the same computer. It turns out Simplified Computers were more expensive there. So consider this store. Ive NEVER regretted buying there and I am a devotee now.

It did take them two tries to diagnose and fix my laptop but their pricing was fair and they didnt argue when they failed to fix it the first time. They honored their word and didnt charge labor when we had to bring it back

Great place friendly knowledge.

Went in to get a single key replaced on a laptop, they fixed the problem after about a week in a half, the key then stopped working a week later and I had to take it back and pay for it to get repaired again. They tried telling me I was getting a deal on the labor costs of the second repair because they obviously messed up the first time, but there was a coupon I found for the exact same discount. They overcharged on the parts they used, and couldnt explain the initial repair to me. Terrible service, I hate to see small local business operating this way, but honestly go to best buy and skip the $75 diagnostic fee.

This place is the best!Last month, I went on a trip to Michigan. We dont take a lot of vacations and a three-night trip was a big deal for us. When I got home and was transferring photos from my phone to my computer, I screwed up and deleted them all.I was devastated.I took the SD card out of my phone into Simplified the next day, though. Only a day or so after that, they had recovered nearly ALL of my photos at a very reasonable price!Even better than that, I used one of those photos (that I only still had thanks to Simplified) to enter a contest. I won a trip back to my favorite spot in Michigan next year! I cant recommend Simplified Computers enough! Thank you!!

If I could rate less than 1 star I would. Now I am by NO means an expert, I do not have a degree and I know theres more for me to learn. But I do know QUITE a lot about computers ranging from hardware to hardcore virus/malware removal, and I know that this place not only overcharges for service (as most computer stores do) and that they use THE lowest quality components (unless REQUESTED to use specific high end parts) which most uneducated people arent going to do. Then, when said components fail or have issues, within WEEKS of the PC being purchased, they charge these customers to even diagnose the issue. I dont care if a customer declined extra warranties and whatnot, any company should stand behind their product, for at LEAST 1 year (as most big brands do) and stop trying to make money off of uneducated people by using low quality and sometimes even shoddy components.The last computer I worked on had a CPU heat sink that attaches to the board with plastic rivets?? Now thats all fine and dandy, but not when the plastic rivets dont securely hold the heat sink to the CPU and their processor nearly burns up from this. And upon trying to reattach the heat sink, it does not stay attached to the motherboard. A simple solution to this is to use a setup with SCREWS and not cheap low quality plastic parts.Many older computers of theirs Ive worked on used the minimum recommended amounts of RAM for the OS installed, and the cheapest CPU available so their brand new computer is actually very slow and still unable to handle even menial tasks.I would never ever recommend this shop, and its sad that they nearly capitalize in this area as being one of the only custom computer stores in the area.0/10 would NOT recommend

Not nice people at all went in for them to fix my charger port on my laptop and charged me 182 but didnt fix my problem claim its my battery but I have not had my laptop for a year so it cant be but whatever will be getting a second opinion I will not ever go back here for them to fix anything ever ever again.

Bought a desktop computer from there a few months back. It was one of their custom units. It was an excellent price and they seem to have a plentiful stock. If you want a good price on a computer or are looking for any kind of hard to find accesory, check them out! Ill be back shortly to pick up another.

Great work in a timely manner at a fair price. They retrieved all of the information that might otherwise have been lost. As an added bonus my PC now runs as good as new. If I have computer needs in the future I will defiantly go back to them.

I first arrived here a year ago and received excellent service, knowledgeable replies to my questions, and quick service. I have enjoyed my experience with them so much that I have been using their business for both my personal and work computers. I have also recommended them to my coworkers as well as my friends. I have not purchased a computer from them yet but when it is time to do so, I definitely will.

I have been carrying my personal computer problems to this local business (at this address!) for almost 20 years because they competently service my personal equipment whether it has been out-of-date, second-hand, or new and because they give me repair and product information fully and matter-of-factly without strenuous advocacy. I am not much interested in computers and their myriad functions--as I have said to them over the years, my home computer is the best typewriter I have ever owned -- and I very much appreciate their careful regard for my needs, as I can represent them, and their restraint in tactfully advocating updates that would be helpful. Kent is the ever-present, ever-helpful authority, and over the years other staff at the counter and in the salesroom reliably demonstrate courteous and professional assistance, as Jared did today.

I had a great experience with Simplified Computers. I didnt have anything major done, but I wanted to know if my graphics and ram were up enough to play a pc game. I took my laptop in, the guys were friendly and they got me all the information I needed within 10 minutes. The guy I talked to even showed me a free software download I could install that would help my computer run more efficiently while playing the game. He didnt even charge me for his time. I would absolutely go back if I needed any kind of repair.

Great service and caring employees. I thought my situation was terminal and quite likely lost my entire photo library. The technician, Jacky, was doing all he could to resurrect my photo library. As it turned out I did have a complete backup on another drive and he used that to completely restore my computer after replacing the hard drive. Lesson learned....back up....back up...backup! Ok staff slow service can probably find better deals

This place is absolutely the BEST computer shop I have ever been to. The people here and extremely friendly and helpful and will not beat around the bush. If you have something wrong they will tell you what it is and exactly what they need to do to get it straightened out. I have had two gaming computers and a macbook air serviced at extremely reasonable prices. This review is a long time overdue. Corey in particular is one of the most helpful and kind employees I have ever dealt with and has an act for customer service as well as repairing just about anything you throw at him. If I were to recommend any place to get your computer serviced it would be without a doubt this shop, and you will forever have my business as long as I am in Champaign County. Thank you all at simplified for everything that you do.

Terrible jerk I talked to; His names James and he is always rude to me. I am a regular there and have been for 4 years. The way he handles phone calls and when I go in there he is a straight up rude person to talk to. I will not being going back. James, you need a class in how to deal with people. I recommend FYXIT on Green street ... this should be a half a star or none at all ... EXPENSIVE AS HELL TOO!! Cleaning is a desktop they charge over $75

I had a minor screen problem. One of the techs fixed it as I waited. Five minutes and done. Fast friendly and knowledgeable.

I have taken my gaming computer in there to get a fan replaced. When I went to pick it up my computer had holes drilled into the side panel. I was told that no one there drilled those holes. Not to mention they gave my computer back with the new fan they were suppose to replace and still tried to charge me for doing nothing but drilling holes in my side panel. Which were not needed by the way considering I have 3 fans on the side panel already. And when they were suppose to de-bug it, I had to take it back 3 times for them to get it fixed. Each time they tried adding new charges. Their work is guaranteed for 30 days and still they tried charging me each time I took it back in the 30 day time frame. I had to keep reminding them of their 30 work guarantee. NEVER AGAIN will I EVER take my computer back there.

Between my husband, my mom, and myself, weve purchased 3 MacBook Pros from Simplified Computers. Strangely enough, the computers started having problems within a year of purchase. Weve since replaced these laptops from another place, but we still buy accessories here if we need them.

Computer repair is always pricey, but Simplified Computers is one of the cheaper options in town. Their staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and do well to explain their process.

This is my go-to shop for computer parts in a pinch. The prices are going to be higher than what you will pay online but thats to be expected. If youre buying computer parts here its probably because you need them immediately.

1. So, you couldnt fix my computer yet you still charged me for labor? Not cool.2. You couldnt fix my computer.3. Guy at the front desk seemed very flippant and not at all interested in answering my questions.4. However, Ive used this store before and had success.Disappointing.

My computer had problems with the AC jack. They replaced it, and after two hours functioning it burnt together with the motherboard. They claimed that it was not their bad and that the motherboard was already malfunctioning (I never noticed that). A new motherboard would cost $500. So they gave me two options: replace the motherboard on my cost or to take the refund of the fist repair. I still think that the refund was very cheap for them as they burnt an expensive motherboard making my computer useless. Very dissapointed and upset with these people. As I can see in the reviews I am not the only one with a similar case. A very bad, expensive and frustrating experience working with these guys.

Terrible service. Barely trained employees. Owner will rip you off at any possible chance. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Best place in town for getting the nasties removed from your computer. They have proven to be outstanding at cleaning viruses, malware, spyware and every other invasion from our PCs quickly and economically. It pays for me to have them address these kinds of issues rather either reforming and rebuilding a system or spending hours tyring to clean it myself.

Excellent service. I had two issues. My microphone that I use with Skype kept muting. Online people having the same problem are screaming at Skype/Microsoft as the villains. My second, more serious issue was that in January Comcast informed me that I had surpassed my Terabyte limit for downloading data. I seldom use more than 100 Gigabytes.I ran full scans (one took twelve hours) on all my machines. A couple bits of malware were found, but something was still leaking data. Comcast told me they thought my wifi had an intruder and that I should change the password, which I did. Problem remained.I called Simplified Computers explaining about my microphone problem. They said they would have someone out the next day. Austin arrived right on time and I confessed that I also had the more serious data download problem.Austin took it in stride. He first went after the data problem. Within minutes he found a Trojan on my system that the full scan had not spotted. He deleted that and another suspicious program. Since then I am back to using about one gigabyte a day.Austin then experimented with the microphone settings and diagnosed that the mic on my Logitech webcam may be bad. I had another mic which he attached, adjusted the settings and now seems to be stable, passing Skypes Echo test in ways that did not happen before.I was charged for one hour of labor. Absolute bargain.

I have used Simplified Computers for years, they are my go-to resource for computer hardware, as well as repairs and stupid questions (mine). They always come through with flying colors, I highly recommend them.

They werent sure when theyd get a chance to look at my computer and its already fixed, a few hours after we took it in.
