Made a purchase of prewar items while traveling on business by air so, taking the items with me wasn’t practical. Train Depot held my purchase for a month and when I was able to make a return trip driving so I could safely transport home. Highly recommend.

I want to start giving my son an Lionel experience as I had long ago so I went to the Train Depot to see what I can to start. I was greeted with friendly staff who helped me to get started with used o gauge tracks and trains. Fortunately for me, they have an used Union Pacific engine for good price which I got plus used boxcars. The used o gauge is $2 per track.I went the store three times to get what I need to start a simple a layout for my son. First visit, I got wrong track, o gauge 27. Second visit I got correct traditional 3 rails o gauge plus another boxcar. Third visit, after I got Lionel rw transformer from eBay because store does not have it, was today for help with set up transformer to lockon correctly and two more used o gauge trains.I met the owner and store staff. They were helpful with advice, how to start, what to buy, and entertained my son a future model train hobbyist.I am glad I went there to start the life long model train hobby. The store has good selections of o, g, ho, and n trains and accessories. The store offers repair service and layout consulting.Recommend the store for all train hobbyists in the area!

We have spent a lot of money in this store and its extremely difficult to get anyone to call us back. Repairs take months and customer service is non existent. Obviously this is a hobby for them and not a business. I do not recommend. Make the trip to Richmond or VA Beach if you need trains or repairs - its worth the trip.

Good selection of various gauge train models and accessories. The staff was very helpful & knowledgeable.

We were visiting family near here and this came up on a Google search. Went to check it out - its a wonderful store, with great selection of quality used and new items, especially buildings and infrastructure for your layout. Their prices were surprisingly low and very competitive. They have a good selection of bulbs and misc items like that. There is even a bin of various Plasticville parts that I was able to find parts to a church I never set up because it was broken. Now Ill be able to bring that building back out! The store is not overly big, but they do an excellent job of displaying all of their items in showcases and shelves! Very nice staff - we will be making this a stop when were in this area for sure! Thank you!!

Its hard to find people who will repair model trains. I had an HO scale Russian Decapod that had a loose wire. They said they could fix it. So I took it to them, and sure enough they said they fixed it and it runs great. This tiny little powerful model locamotive can no longer function if it is pulling just 1 boxcar behind it. This once was able to pull a long train of 13-20 freight cars (that I personally tested). Now it is useless. They didnt even test run it infront of me when I picked it up, and made up some excuse as to why they couldnt. I expect model train stores to test their engines when they fix them or when you buy new from them. Id rather travel up to NJ to get my trains fixed.

Great little shop. Went in yesterday to get a new engine as mine sadly went missing during a recent move. Was about to pick up a used one for a decent price and the store offered an exchange slip good within a week and even a warranty since the item was used. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Super friendly. So happy we have a store like this so I can support locally versus going to eBay or amazon. Will definitely be back! Thanks train depot!

Very nice! It may be a tiny store but that doesn’t deter the fact that this store is very wide in variety! The store contains items from tracks and locomotives up to G scale. Scenery and lights are very plenty here too! Defiantly a store to consider when your in need of anything model train related.

Echo the below: this is a nice little shop with a decent selection of goods and all the parts you could ask for. Whats nice, too, is that their prices were more than fair. And in a first, the guy behind the counter was younger than me!

This is an excellent place to come if you are a Model Railroader or even have a passing fancy about trains. The staff is very helpful, and the prices are very reasonable. They even have some used things if youre just starting out and one something, like track or Rolling Stock, to test out. It is in Chantilly, but it is the closest Model Railroad shop for those of us who live in DC

All the guys there were very helpful, friendly and an all around breeze to chat with. I brought In some old trains from my youth looking for an evaluation. Not only were they able to inform me in depth on what I had, But also, gave me nice Ballpark evaluation on what a fair asking price would be. If I had more trains or was a serious collector, I would DEFINITELY Come back to these guys!

It’s really a treasure to have a store this stocked with train hobby items so close to home. If they don’t have something, they always help me find it. They also consult with me about techniques and offer very good advice for a model train lover like myself and my kids.

Great train store! Hidden away in an industrial park, is this nice little store that specializes in trains. Excellent customer service and the employees are quite knowledgeable. Took my two post war Lionel passenger cars there to fix the lights, and to my delight, they were able to diagnose the problem very quickly. Shops like these are long gone and practically non existent these days. They’re the best that I’ve found in the DC area. We need to keep patronizing this place so it doesn’t disappear!

An unexpected treasure! I came across this store when I was looking for hobby shops in the area. Imagine my surprise when they were open even on Sundays. All sorts of trains and accessories from all different size gauges. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and chatty. If youre a train enthusiast, you MUST stop by for a visit.

Train Depot is definitely one of the friendliest and most helpful stores around. It is the only Authorized Lionel Service Station in the area and their service is top notch. I have been going to Train Depot now for most of my life (My family took me there for the first time when I was only 5 or 6 and i have been going ever since). The staff are all fantastic people with a truly diverse background, united by the love of model trains. They offer a wide range of scales and road names, and everything from the latest high tech engines to 100 year old antiques..mostly from private collections. Their repair service is high quality and has an excellent reputation for craftsmanship. They have made engines that were literally underwater for a time run like swiss watches. Best Repair Service around! If ever you have a model railroading need, look no further than Train Depot to fill it!

Awesome staff, very knowledgeable and friendly. Their pricing is also very competitive versus what you see online., even beat Amazon for some train table accessories.

TERRIBLE experience with Train Depot! I brought a valuable 1930s train to the store in December 2015 for them to sell on consignment with eBay. Despite repeated requests - and promises from Tim - they have not provided me with any proof of sale. Oh yeah, I havent received any money from the store either. Taking them to small claims court TODAY!
