Im a plumber and run my own business. Ferguson has a good selection, but my biggest gripe has been that they price gouge at EVERY location Ive been to. Im pretty sure the counter sales guys get commission or something because thatd be the only reason why they price gouge every time. Thats with establishing an account as well, youd figure as a plumber theyd offer discounted rates.Ill give you an example of how they price gouge: Some time ago I was on a job and needed a 1 copper 90 (sweat, not propress). At the time, I worked for a large company who spends six figures every year with them so youd imagine theyd get the best tier pricing. Anyway, thats all I needed that day. The guy at the counter said itd be...$40+ lmao. I would usually just swipe the company card since it didnt make a difference for me but man...$40 for a $5 part. When I said something, he immediately discounted it to $20 lol which is still 4x the price of what youd pay anywhere else.Thats just ONE example of many. Ive noticed a trait though. Theyll charge somewhat reasonably for some items, and mark up (by a lot) a couple items, usually double the cost anywhere else.
