They are professional and offered good quality service at a good value. They were open for me to communicate with the mechanic so that I have more insight other than just a final bottom line diagnosis. I appreciated that so that I can determine the urgent matter of the situation or if it was urgent. I will be returning to their service. They worked on my Volvo.

We had a bike rack on my wifes Prius, and she decided to see if she could rip off the hatchback by backing up with it open in a low ceiling parking garage. Dinkins replaced the struts on the hatchback, and everything works perfectly again. Dinkins is one of the best mechanics I have ever used. Been going there for about nine years. Highly recommend them.

Dinkins does all of my auto work. They are friendly and efficient. I was heading out on vacation when the check engine light came on. They diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and sent me on my way. It was a relief to know that it was safe to drive.

Dinkins is an amazing local business for your car service needs! Previously, I made the mistake of taking the car to one of those quick oil change places a few times, and they managed to cross threaded my oil pan drain bolt and refuse responsibility. A friend recommended Dinkins, so I looked them up. It was super easy to request a time on their website to bring my car in to Dinkins for them to check it out, and I received a quick response. I dropped my car off the next morning, and in less than 2 hours, they diagnosed and repaired the issue, and changed my oil. The price was very fair. Also, Denise was very kind and professional with keeping me updated and making me feel very welcome there. My husband and I will definitely be back for any of our vehicles’ needs.

This was my first time coming to Dinkin’s. I’ve always been weary of going to car places and getting ripped off or not taken seriously. The sweet person up front was so sweet and helpful. she called me to update me and everything was done in a very timely manner. They are honest and good people and i highly recommend.

They exceeded my expectations. They broke the bad news gently. Fee for diagnostic tests was reasonable. They were thorough and efficient.

Made an appointment to bring the vehicle in around 9:00 AM and the alignment would be done buy the end of the day. Picked the vehicle up around 4:00 PM. The price repair cost was ex was exactly what was quoted and the alignment corrected the issue.

Estimates are accurate, both time and cost, and they suggest needed services that are due on a schedule or identified during service. So convenient for James Island residents. Waiting? Charleston County Library, stores, and restaurants are right across the street. Or just relax in their reception area or outside on their bench.

Had to get a good bit of work done a couple weeks ago. And just recently, my car wouldnt start. Had it towed to Dinkins, and long story short, my car magically turned on. They checked for loose connections and didnt charge me a penny for the diagnostics of my car! Thankful for them this week.

I highly recommend this family owned and run James Island auto repair shop. I have been taking my cars to Dinkins for years. Theyve never done me wrong. They are a full service shop except for body work (I think). They also fixed my little trailer for me. Joe Dinkins runs a fireworks stand before July 4 and New Years. He has great prices and lots products.

Dinkins saved our bacon! We were trying to get out of town for a hurricane evacuation when the brakes went out on my Dodge truck. First of all they were open, then they worked us in the same day and got us out and going within 4 hours. That is great service and the price was reasonable too! We will be back.

Ive been coming to Dinkins for the past 3 years as I moved to Charleston from PA and needed to find a reliable mechanic who wouldnt charge me more than necessary. I was referred to Dinkins by a mentor and have been thrilled with their service for years. Typically I go there for oil changes, but Ive had to have them do $1,000+ work on my car as well (catalytic converter and resonator, among other things). Overall, their service has been prompt and of high quality, their prices have been fair, and they have always seemed incredibly down to earth and personable.Furthermore, the other morning I went in for an oil change and they were not all that busy. They got me in and out in less than 20 minutes. I was thrilled. I would recommend that any and all Charleston area drivers take advantage of this fantastic auto service. I live in at Abberly in West Ashley so they are a bit of a drive for me (25-30 minutes with traffic), but they are well worth it.

Weve been a customer for a couple years now. My wife and I have not found a more concise and trustworthy auto service than we have experienced at Dinkins. Most recently we received a call that a particular part needed replaced, so we told them to go ahead and replace it. Later they called and said the mechanic was not sold on that being the issue so he took each of the parts off, cleaned and re-greased, and tested once again. After test driving again the original diagnosis turned out to not be the issue. Instead of just replacing the first thing that came to mind they took the time to care about the vehicle, the customer, and their expertise/reputation in order to find the actual problem. They couldve replaced the original diagnosis and I wouldve had no idea. Not only did they not take advantage of us, they didnt even charge us for the extra labor involved. Thank you Dinkins for always being honest and up front with cost and diagnosis! As long as you guys are around we will rely on you to service our vehicles.

My 2008 Volvo was in the shop - elsewhere - five times last summer to fix the A/C and you know that in SC you cannot have a car without A/C in the summer. I took it in, had immediate diagnosis & estimate and had the car back at quoted price in two days and it is working FINE.

I just picked my truck up from Dinkins auto..my ignition assembly lock had to be replaced..they charged me $216 for the part that I found out only cost $114.00 elsewhere and charged me $300 labor...I paid $520.00 to get my ignition lock changed when I got home I called 3 other places on quotes for labor and noone priced me higher than 200 bucks in labor..I called back to ask why was I charged an extra $100 than other places charged and the lady said the $100 was being charged for diagnosing the problem..smh..I was ripped off big time..single mom of two and they took advantage of me! Have an older truck with intermittent starter problems. Took it to them and 3 days later was told by their most unfriendly receptionist the truck is ready. When I asked to speak to the mechanic I was given a huff of frustration over this questioning. I was sold a useless part that did nothing to solve the problem and told to jiggle the key in the ignition to help the starter engage. I am now having to take my truck to another shop and more time off work or car rental to have this problem corrected... Save yourself the time and frustration, go to any other shop besides Dinkins.

Lady at the desk will cause this business to lose alot of money esp. from minorities she is a blatant racist I hate dealing with her. She has been rude to me on more than 2 occasions. If the owner doesnt want to serve a particular people he should add that in his ad seriously!!!!!

Prompt and quality work on my VW Jetta. Pricing is consistent with what my research told me it should be.

Do not use Dinkins. I had an older model cadillac they let me dump $1200 into and the first time I drove it upon getting it back it broke down. Not only that but they refused to pay for towing back to thier shop. They then told me I had a cracked head and that it would be $4500 for another engine. I had used my tax return money for the first repair and gone all summer without a car. Had no car to get my child to school which was starting in two weeks. Wouldnt get near them if I were you. Bunch of crooks. I had to pay for the tow back to their shop and they had not fixed my car properly. I tell everybody I can not to use Dinkins. Go to Brysons. He is a decent Volvo mechanic.
