I am surprised to read such good reviews. Ordered a honey latte. It was a pump syrup that tasted like artificial sugar. Either very weak espresso or very very little in the drink because I couldnt taste it at all. After having a sip it left a lingering gross taste. Threw away.
Very pretty and calming! i got a honey latte and it was smooth, prepared well, and just the right amount of flavor and milk for my taste. the prices were lower than i expected as well but it didnt seem to affect coffee quality. :)
THIS PLACE DOES SUGAR FREE FROZEN COFFEES (vanilla)! I think it might be the only spot in West Ashley that does them. So happy! Coffee is great, service is normally amazing.
Quaint little place. The coffee was excellent and the breakfast sandwich was ok. We were visiting SC and found this place via Google Maps, so I assume they thought we were locals and were familiar with their offerings.
Really like the vibe of this place. The girls are really nice and the food is inexpensive. Found my new favorite coffee spot!!
The coffee is pretty good here, I had the espresso and theyre using a darker roast so its more of a bitter taste but well managed and still quite nice. Charleston coffee exchange also has a decent selection of pastries, the muffins are pretty good as well. They also sell coffee bean and have numerous varieties that you can try to get the best coffee that you like.
Fantastic coffee, nice atmosphere, great location. Sadly I dont live as close as I used to but I still make a trip here every once and a while!
I love this place! Friendly, efficient staff and a pleasant environment to hang out. My latte was smooth and strong, and I had a breakfast sandwich that I truly liked. I’ll be back for regular caffeine fixes...!
Had a very good caramel macchiato
Coffee was delicious and the bagel egg and bacon sandwich was great. Only thing is they were already out of croissants at 9:30 AM.
Delicious. Iced caramel machiatto tasted very fresh. Workers were very nice and helpful. 100% recommend.
Cute little coffee shop with nice employees and delicious drinks
Best local coffee! I wish we had one in Indiana
The best place to buy beans. They have the absolute best cold brew in town!
The first time visiting from Syracuse, NY. Service was great and the people I met were awesome! I met Jeff and his sons. They will become life long friends. Great character and conversation. The ambiance of the shop is very welcoming. Two thumbs👍🏾👍🏾up! I will frequent every time I come to Charleston.
Place roasts their own beans and by the wonderful aroma wafting inside and outside, one would swear they are doing it at that moment. GREAT coffee selection and food items. Nice corner store, very clean with friendly down-to-earth staff. Gets hopping on the weekends but the line moves pretty quickly!
Charleston Coffee Exchange is a place I just discovered but I wish I knew about it much sooner! The second you walk in you get to smell the most delightful fragrance of fresh coffee. They have many different types of coffee and every week they have a special flavor that is always super fun. This week is beach breeze and it is a great treat!
The absolute best coffee youll find in Charleston! The staff is so friendly and kind, and every drink they make is delightful. I havent tried their pastries yet though!
I love this place, makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over. The muffins are outstanding, they have a special process for making muffins that involves wheels and minority labor. Super nice to hear. The sandwiches some days have special meanings raining days are wheat coffee buns and sunny days always have sour dough. Love this! You can also get lots of other hipster food here.Best part is the coffee! Since it is roasted here, the fresh aroma is in every cup. The owners are very nice and sometimes will give out free coffee or they are in a great mood.Highly suggest
This store has great service and tasty unique flavors. Rainforest crunch is a personal fave of mine. Highly recommend stopping by for a hot cup or a frozen one if thats your thing.
Charleston Coffee Exchange on Ashley River Road in West Ashley is one of my favorite spots to get coffee in the area. I like the vibe and smell of this place as everything is very relaxed and inviting. This is a good location to have a business meeting as they have plenty of space to sit inside or outside if it is nice outside and room to get some work done. This place is well worth a visit.
Burnt croissant, was given rude service and was almost made to pay for ice water. Not friendly service at all. Also, I saw the guy take my sandwich out of the microwave, so how the heck am i given this burnt croissant? It is black on the outside, with all the sogginess a microwave provides. Coffee was decent but I wish I could take my tip back. Will not ever return. Sorry local businesses, I get free water from Starbucks, and smiles.
Fantastic coffee and snacks, good prices and friendly service. They have a secret menu as well, it had frosted lemonade great for the kids. Definitely worth the drive.
Rich bold coffee with very little aftertaste. This is likely the best cup of coffee West of the Ashley. In addition to buying cups of coffee you can buy freshly ground beans to take home for your coffee maker.Food selections are limited and tend to be on the Sweet side. Convenient location to catch your breath, read emails and the newspaper.
This is my absolute favorite café in Kansas City. I have only ever had a great experience here, from the service to the food to the ambience its all great. The menu is simple, but sophisticated and the food is expertly prepared. Brunch here is a spectacular treat, and there is something for everyone (sweet, savory, combination). The cocktails are outstanding and I suggest ordering something outside your comfort zone.
Someone gifted me a sampling of coffees from this place (Which is a great gift idea) and I was hooked. Their coffee is delicious. I loved the packaging of their “pot sized” coffees and ask if they could personalize some to use as favors at my daughters upcoming wedding. They could not have been more pleasant to work with and my guests loved the favor!
Very nice beverage options and good looking food, but none of it is gluten free, so drinks only for me. Better quality beverages than chain places, definitely a great coffee shop to have around.
Great place to start the day. Coffee selection is flawless! Courteous staff. I come here to write in my daily planner and journal. Perfect place
Great atmosphere. We ordered egg and cheese sandwich which was really tasty!
Great local spot, nice folks. They remember you and your order! Need a boost? Get THE BUZZ...its delicious and aptly named!
I’ve been going here at least 10 years now and I still love this place. Coffee is good, people are friendly, and prices are reasonable. When it’s busy you might have to wait a little, but I’m happy to see them doing well!I buy my whole bean coffee from here and nowhere else. I like support local businesses where I can, and these guys have been doing great for years.
This place is great! The staff is always friendly and welcoming and the coffee is always good. If you’re in the mood for a cold coffee, try the buzz!
If you’re looking for rich, flavorful coffee-look no further. Delicious!!!
Great place to enjoy coffee with the men of F3Nation.com following a free mens peer led bootcamp. Check F3Holycity.com for local schedules.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, a VERY wide selection of beans local and exotic, and a perfect place to sit and sip a latte!
Well I have to say, I am a bit of a frozen coffee lover. Living down here is hot hot hot in the summer. I drop by Charleston Coffee Exchange when I am in that neck of the woods. They have incredible frozen coffee. Unfortunately I have been unable to try anything other than the coconut mocha. It is so good, that I cannot try anything else. I wont let myself.
Really good coffees, super convenient to me and friendly folks behind the counter. Lots of seating inside & out. You can knock out other errands from here, too, since other nearby shops include Bilo & a liquor store, just to name a couple of them. Support small, locally owned businesses!
I also remember when this place first opened. My father Steve and myself were patrons here for years. Paul and Melissa are great people who have been serving west Ashley with the finest coffee it has to offer. If youre ever in this part of town make sure to make this your stop for coffee it is excellent. Paul and Melissa thank you again for serving myself and my father great coffee and conversation for years.
So favorite place to get coffee in all of Charleston! Constantly adding new flavors to buy by the pound, with my classic favorites always available. Amazing coffee 👌🙌
Went there Saturday. One girl there is not very friendly. No greetings. There was no sanitizer so I went to wash my hands and there’s a sign on the door that says for employee’s only. I asked and one girl told me that I could use it. So I used it but then this other girl called me out in front of everybody saying that it was only for employees. Then when I asked about sanitizer and she said that they didn’t have any in a rude manner. I walked out and she was still yelling things at me. Coffee was good though.
Great coffee spot in West Ashley. They sell all kinds of gourmet coffee beans in store in addition to pastries and breakfast sandwiches. Great service and delicious lattes.
Scrumptious caramel macchiato.
Best little coffee shop. I used to come here every Friday in the fourth grade when i lived in Charleston. Now I live in Florida and every time I come up here, I have to come get coffee from here. Easiest 5 stars ever.
Hidden Gem! Great stop on your way in to work. Easy in and out off 61 just pass Bees Ferry headed to 526.6 different coffees and great pasties.
Good coffee and people are fairly nice. The first time I went, the lady working wasnt really friendly at all. Service is a little slow(3 people working and only one making coffee), so if youre trying to get a quick coffee in the morning before work, its not ideal.
This is my go to coffee shop! The staff here are amazing! They always make sure to go the extra mile to make sure our visit is the best. Coffee, tea, pastries, yum!
Their Honey Latte was very smooth and delicious, I also recommend the Lemon Poppy seed muffin if they have it. So good!
If you want good custom coffee apart from the typical Starbucks fare this is great. Staff is always wonderful. Always have some sort of special drink for the season. Love this place.
Great place to grab a coffee with some friends. Always a great experience.
This is one of the best coffee shops around. You always get friendly service and excellent coffee! It makes your day better going here!
Great coffee
Welcomed on arrival. Lots of different delicious coffees and sweets to puck from. Awesome customer service.
Nice place, staff is friendly and quick-coffee is delicious! Would love a few more food options since I usually have kids in tow
Their frozen coffees gets me through my work night. Love them
Always a pleasure to visit. Better than Starbucks in atmosphere and service. Coffee is always good no matter what favor is offered. Grab a pound of beans or ground to go from their many flavors and strengths.
Its got good coffee, and a calm atmosphere, I just wish they had more food options.
Love the lattes here! I couldnt decide which one I wanted and an employee suggested a honey latte, Great Choice!! The staff is so friendly and really go above and beyond whats expected in customer service!
Ive been meaning to write this review for the last 5 months. I know coffee exchanges might not normally be rated on compassion, but I came to the exchange while I waited for my dog to complete testing at the emergency clinic after just finding out she was dying. The people that served me that day were so sweet and looking back at their small act of kindness after finding out horrible news meant so much. I wish I could have said thank you to the staff that was so kind to me when I went in today and ordered coffee but the thought of my dog and that day still brings tears to my eyes. Anyways, thank you for your compassion and great service however small or big.
When you walk in youre greeted with the incredible aroma of their ample whole bean coffee selection. The nitro cold brew coffee was strong and delicious. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a croissant that was tasty and well cooked. A nice place for a quick bite, to work or to relax and read the paper. Friendly staff!
Great, comfortable, homey place thats long, so more privacy and quieter than your prototypical coffee shop. Family owned with unique coffees that put a Starbucks to shame. No comparison.
Great coffee and food. Wonderful welcoming staff. Def would go again.
Love this place, always a pleasant trip.
French donut ... Holy sh. What did I just eat. So. So. SO. Delicious. I dont know if its comparable to a real French donut....but it was incredible. Breakfast sandwiches always great too and place smells like heaven.
The vanilla chai tea is amazing! Even my fiance (who doesnt like tea) stopped getting his fancy coffees and started getting the chi tea. We also found that they have k cups of their house made flavors.
Delicious coffee. They stay busy and for good reason.
Best place to get coffee! We’ve been buying our coffee grounds here, and we wake up every morning excited to make coffee at home. They will grind the beans for you there too.
I found out about this place on the plane ride from New York. The guy sitting next to me was a local high school teacher and I told him I wanted to know the best coffee shop in town. Not only was the coffee amazing, but the service was great, and if you really want to get decadent try the chocolate filled croissant. I promise you wont be disappointed. Its not one of those thick globs of chocolate stuffed into a croissant, but instead a light, fluffy and gently baked delicacy. They have a coffee subscription and Im considering signing up. If nothing else I may order some to be shipped to me, especially since I only drink decaf and they have some wonderful blends too choose from.Well definitely make another trip to visit the next time we come to town.
I love the Charleston Coffee Exchange! My family & I have been buying their coffee, brewed and bean, for years! They roast their own coffees and have beans from all over.
Nice selection of coffee and non- coffee drinks. Great staff who work well together. Safe atmosphere.
Great coffee but pricey. The Charleston blend is an excellent choice. I dont think that they should charge 99cents for a refill of plain coffee. The first refill should be free I think.
Excellent coffee! My order got lost in translation somewhere so it took a little more time than needed but, they were very polite.
Best whole bean for pour-over coffee snobs. Nice variety, consistent quality, recently roasted, good prices. Cant remember the last time I bought shelf life bags from a grocer.
Supposed fresh roasted coffee wasnt. No roast dates on coffee. Definitely not a place for coffee lovers but OK as an alternative to McDonalds.
Great neighborhood coffee shop. Hot and cold coffee drinks, bagels, hot bagel breakfast sandwiches, pastries. Cozy inside plus limited outdoor seating available.
This is a great place to go if you like good coffee. They have many different types of roasts, beans, and flavors to try. If you like blueberries and the occasional flavored coffee try their Blueberry Cobbler it is delicious. Other than that it has a cozy atmosphere with some seating and an okay selection of pastries to go along with your coffee.
Awesome fast friendly service from people who geninuinely enjoy what they do. Fair prices and great surprises in the pastry case. My favorite Charleston coffee spot.
Love it here! Coffee is great, staff is super friendly and helpful. Definitely would recommend for anyone who needs a nice cup of coffee or a place to study.
The atmosphere is lovely.
Excellent coffee. Wonderful staff!
Coffee is good, better than Starbucks for sure, staff is not always friendly though.
Great coffee and cozy little place to hang out.
Wide variety of fresh coffee made upon request. Very clean and relaxing.
This is without question the best place for coffee in Charleston. Not only are their drinks great. But also you can bulk buy their beans to brew at home. They have a wide variety of roasts to choose from. The Charleston Blend is popular, but I really like the dark roast Raven.Their baked goods are great. I have never had any of their other foods, but it all looks pretty good.Definitely worth checking out if your on that side of town, and worth traveling to if you are really into coffee.
This place is so out of the way for me and I dont care. It is totally worth the drive. They have some of the best coffee youll find anywhere. The variety of drinks are great, the staff is super knowledgeable and helpful, and the quality is always top notch. Its always a good day when I go here.
Excellent coffee and baked goods. Friendly staff that are quick and efficient.
Great blends. Excellent customer service. Fun experience.
