I have been a Protection One customer for over 24 years, I must say they are a great company. Our journey with them has been very positive and safe. They have been our friend, neighbor that has kept our home safe while we vacationed near and far. I want to thank them out loud, publicly for being such a great company. I also want to give a shout-out to the best technician that I have ever encountered, Mr. Kenneth McCoy ID#90945. This guy does not stop till the job is complete, until the job is done. He is thorough, the consummate professional. We could not be in better hands. Thank you Protection One!

3 year contract is awful. High monthly rates. Oversell products and service. Requires their equipment instead of working with existing equipment. Sloppy workmanship, Very Poor wiring of control panel (birds nest) causing short circuits from initial wiring that they billed us for to repair.....we finally did get that bill rescinded after much effort. For over a year we had an open circuit that shorted closed. We were able to arm the system due to the short, but anyone could have opened that particular door and not set off the alarm. No apologies received, just the bill.Poor customer service. Service rep shows up unannounced 2 hours before appointment.....leaves before we get home.....then we wait for 4 hours during our scheduled appointment.....finally we call to find out the story that we were not at home when service tech arrived......requiring another appointment and another day set aside to be home. Should have called first. After making many complaints, we got a courtesy (free) service call for all our pain on another issue.....when we were finally able to get out from under the 3 year contract, Protection 1 re-billed us for the Courtesy (free) service call. Again, trying all the time to sell the service contract at additional cost while we were having problems. Now we still have reoccurring issues that we are responsible for caused by putting too many current drawing sensors on one circuit. Well get it finally corrected, but Protection 1 wont touch the panel again.Complained to our salesman, he apologized, but could not help because he was let go during the merger of Protection 1 and ADT. After the merger, we had hoped that their internal issues would be resolved, unfortunately that didnt happen.

RUN from this company. After having several different companies take over monitoring of an older alarm system and with continuing price increases, I contacted Protection 1 to see about lowering my bill. After a terrible round of negotiations, they finally agreed to lower the amount by about $10 per month. Before finalizing my NEW CONTRACT, they wanted to test the system. So, with the Customer Service person on the line and at their request I armed and intentionally set off my alarm, which is very very loud. To my dismay, the alarm would not cut off when I entered the security code on the alarm. The alarm ran for 30 minutes with me shouting over and over to Protection 1 to turn the GD thing off. They refused saying it was against the law for them to turn it off. They guided me in a multitude of processes to stop the alarm, NONE of which worked. After failed attempts for me to stop the alarm from sounding they said they would send a technician over, and commented that I was lucky he could come that day, Friday, instead of Monday. WHAT... lucky I didnt have to listen to an indoor and exterior alarm for 3 days waiting on their tech because they refuse to turn the thing off. After disconnecting the battery to no avail, arguing relentlessly with Customer Service... I cut the power to the alarm at the fuse box which allowed the alarm to be reset. Their response, that was going to be their next suggestion. Needless to say I was furious as the alarm was set off AT THEIR REQUEST. I later talked to a supervisor who was even worse. She was more upset by my swearing than by the fact that my family, dogs and entire neighborhood had listened to a screaming alarm for 30 min. She continued with her sales pitch and all the reasons no other company could or would provide service for my system. BS! This was the 3rd alarm company over the years to test my alarm. Never before with any company have I had this problem. I will say that a couple hours after the situation ended, a technician arrived (after he had supposedly been cancelled) who provided me with a new battery. He was familiar with the older equipment which was in my home and did tell me that the alarm would have cut itself off after 30 min if we had not removed what he was sure was a defective backup battery. The local technician was wonderful. The company... not so much. Do yourself a favor... chose a different company.

Ive had protection one for over 3yrs now. The first year I had it, it didnt even work because my system was not communicating with there system. So when my alarm went off it didnt alert them. I never even knew this because they put my phone number in the system wrong and never thought to maybe send a letter or something to my address to let me know!! We finally set it off ourselves one evening to see if anyone would alert us that our alarm was going off, and nothing! So I had them come out to my home and update everything. No discount on the bill or anything. Tells me we are good to go, well still to this day 3yrs in, only because I had a contract and couldnt afford to cancel. My system is still not communicating with them. Dont waste your money on this company!

Some of the employees are great. They try to help solve problems within the framework of their ability which is limited by corporate disorganization and process failures. The integration of separate locations is difficult to impossible. There are multiple systems and an inadequate video monitoring capability. The high change and turnover has been a big disadvantage as well, I believe. I think the interface could be much easier as well as the ability to change and manage things like passwords. Hopefully with the ADT integration they will get some of this stuff worked out.

Horrifically bad. Police came to my apartment at 1am because the alarm company had dispatched them. My alarm never went off and I never received a call. When I called the alarm company they refused to give me any information about what happened and said that they only deal with the leasing office. Unfortunately at 1am I cant run off to get help from an apartment office. I kept trying to push how serious this was and that I needed to know if I should be worried - but they didnt care, even the supervisor parroted back the same thing. This system came with my apartment, I cant even imagine how worried I would be if I had this installed myself. Some of the worst, apathetic, customer service I have seen for such a serious problem. If I were a homeowner, I would run away fast and choose another company. When I searched the company online it was absolutely filled with negative reviews, and funny enough most of it for bad customer service.

Worst company ever! Was told I was signing a 2 year contract but when I called because I no longer need their service, I was told I signed a 3 year. So I was lied to! Customer service is horrible! They are not willing to do anything or help in any way! Its a huge waste of money! DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!

Absolutely the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. I cant help you, Im just customer service..????? I ended up saying I was going to another service provider and she just said o.k.. I AM going to change providers. Its unfortunate, as we like the former ASG system but its not worth this.

I am giving a one star because I cannot give zero. I have been a customer for over 20 years and want to cancel my service. Apparently they say I verbally agreed in 2016 to a 60 month contract and it will cost me $750 to get out of it. They will NOT allow me to listen to the recording and state I need a subpoena to do so.
