Asian market is surprisingly well stocked, spacious, and super clean. Bring a quarter with you for the shopping cart. We didnt have cash with us so we carried two baskets which became increasingly heavy after each aisle. Cant comment on seafood and meat as we bought solely vegetarian and vegan produces. Very impressed with the varieties and selections.
I really enjoy the wide ethnic varieties of both the food and supermarkets that are readily available here in the QC. And today was no exception. This particular store has housed a multitude of businesses over the years. I am hopeful that this one will finally catch on with everyone; Asian or otherwise. This particular store houses one of the largest varieties of all manners of Asian cuisine, spices and delicacies. Whether it be frozen, fresh produce, freshly prepared or live that I have ever encountered under one roof. Be it Kim-Chee; a Korean pickled vegetable (cabbage), that is one of my personal favorites. Or Choya Umeshu; a Japanese plum Saki, another favorite of mine. This store is a virtual treasure trove of all Asian delicacies. From the fresh fruits, vegetables and spices that you will find nowhere else in Charlotte, to the fresh(live)Lobsters, King crabs, eels, turtles and fish. And they will clean, prepare and cook any of the aforementioned right there in front of you.Do you like Ramen noodles?. There are dozens and dozens of varieties available from every Asian culture in the world.Wine, beer, spirits, I could go on and on ad infinitum. You could literally spend hours and hours delving into every nook and cranny of this massive Asian supermarket and you still wouldnt have seen everything. The shopping aisles are very wide and everything is exceptionally clean and well-maintained.Everything is handicap accessible, so that everything is available for any and everyones perusal.A large amount of friendly and personable staff members are readily available to assist you with preparing, directing, questions, suggestions and/or recommendations that you might need at any time. Are you ready to expand your horizons. This is one spot that you dont want to miss.If you took the time to read this review, please take a 1/2 second and click like. Thank you.
This is the best kind of place that combines a local grocery store & seafood market with an imported goods store! You know the places where you go to find those hard to find ingredients you see on authentic cooking shows/videos that have you wanting to try making recipes of your favorite dishes, but you can never find everything that the recipe calls for at a normal, American supermarket (*looks at big chain stores*).Most items/products/produce have at least some English text explaining what they are, but unless you know what you are after it might not be very helpful.**The restaurant in the market is seriously, surprisingly good! They may take a little time to make your food, but its fresh & absolutely delicious! My wife and I will definitely be coming back, even though we live over an hour away!**One word of caution, if you have a sensitive nose, you might have a hard time as you first come it due to the seafood section...it has a pungent odor that can be disconcerting and somewhat nauseating. However, you can get used to it & the food is well worth the discomfort at the beginning. My wife & I highly recommend this place!
Best and freshest seafood possible very affordable and diverse they have everything
Food not fresh the guy working in the fresh fish section didnt even want to sale me the food thanks for the warning Im never shopping here again
Love it, clean and of course it has a little smell because of the big live seafood section. This is the place to go get live seafood! It also sells Chinese roast duck and roast pork!* If you spend more than $100, you will get either kitchen towel or a case of bottle water. (Not sure if this is a temporary promotion)
They have a good selection of sea foods.
My boyfriend and I were thrilled about Asian Market. They had everything Asian that you could possibly imagine. We went here solely for their fresh seafood. We had bought fresh crab, live lobsters, crawfish, and shrimp. The store is very, very clean. The shelves are well stocked and well organized. The customer service is great. The prices are reasonable. Been here 3 times now, and never disappointed.I give Asian Market 5 stars overall.
Omg, except for the security guard, yall who cook using fresh herbs and veggies, need to go there. If you like kimchi, go there, dont buy from local grocery store, pint for $5-6 lol. This place sells quarts, half gallon and gallon bucket;)But now I make my own buying the ingredients from there;)YouTube videos search Magg and that should pull up video to make Daikon radish kimchi. My first attempt totally awesome, not quit spicy enough but the second one was spicier, so next time 3 to 4 1/2 gallon jars, I saved all the ones from before;)
Good selection on Bakery and produce. Some days produce is fresher than others.Store could benefit from tidying up shelf products though. Now, after shopping at bakery, I asked for a cup of tap water, they had to charge for a disposable plastic cup! Hmm .. really?
An amazing market. Only managed to explore half of it but what Ive seen blew me away.
Great selection of fresh greens and seafood. Very reasonable prices, reminded me of Asian supermarkets in NY.Courteous staff. Will be a regular customer.
I wasnt sure what to expect when I arrived but I was pleasantly surprised! I will say that if you are sensitive to fish smell that this place isnt for you. The seafood smell is very overpowering.I came because Im on a personal quest to try different instant noodles and was so happy with the selection and prices. I did end up leaving with $45 worth of other products ranging from instant noodles, frozen dumplings, sake and some candy items. There was also a decent selection of boba tea pearls/drinks/drink mixes. I will definitely be returning in the future to do more shopping.
I have shopped here often but never againThe asain man in fish department act like he dont speak English then started laughing with other Asain customersOne other Asain man ran fast passed me talking about no EnglishNo EnglishIf yall cant speak English dont gets jobs with the publicFelt very uncomfortable
Asian Market owner, please educate your worker at the front entrance and let them know to be consistent. I couldn’t even go inside the store because my one year old didn’t have a mask. The CDC clearly states a child under 2 is not required to wear a mask. I understand you are trying to keep everybody safe inside. I was able to enter last week with my unmasked child and today I’m not. Good luck to anyone trying to shop there with a toddler. If you can’t go in, can’t go wrong with Asian Corner Mall as another option.
Great seafood and produce! Super clean and a great place to shop. We bought shrimp and 2lb lobsters and both were excellent! Very fresh!
This review will be more of a comparison between the available asian supermarkets in the area, Super G mart, Grand Asia, and the Plaza Asian Market. This pros of this market is that it is closer than the other two to central Charlotte and seems to have less foot traffic. This market may have the most diverse fresh seafood selection but falls short in other areas. It has a very limited fruit/vegetable/meat selection compared to the other two store options. It has very similar selections in terms of dry items, seasonings/noodles/snacks. It also has a small selection of baked goods available compared to the other two markets. There is a small food court area with fresh steamed buns, ducks and crispy pork that you can preorder. If you just need essential items or seafood, I would recommend this market as a quick stop that will have everything available. But if you need a larger selection of meats/fruit/vegatables/baked goods I would make the drive to Super G Mart on Independence.
Very nice visit looking forward to going back
Not quite ready. Asian Market is new-ish and have impressive space. Lots of the produce are neatly wrapped and are fresh. The seafood market is great. But, their selection of groceries are limited compared to other large Asian groceries. The kitchen menu is lackluster. I wish their roasted duck and pork taste better.I’m excited for their growth. Asian Market has a lot of room to expand and offer lots of Asian groceries.
Great The store it is beautiful and clean I did not smell fish until I went back to the fish part. I cook mostly Korean. When I come back to Charlotte from Ohio I am going to look at everything. The duck was great. I enjoy every minute I was In the store.
My first time shopping here. I heard they had vegan products so I headed over. Was pleasantly surprised. Will definitely come back again. And they have a large arrangement of veggies and fresh fish, fresh meaning swimming in water.
Excellent variety of fruits and veggies. Also had a good variety of seafood including live lobsters, crabs, tilapia, etc swimming in the tanks. Thats about as fresh as you can get for seafood😁. Many other items. I was there for a brief amount of time but I actually need a whole day to peruse everything they have to offer
Glad to have this on the Eastside. Much cleaner and less busy than Super G but much smaller meat and produce section.Came for pork belly, which they had but not much selection. Only had packages of 2” strips, no larger sections or smaller slices across ribs (like I’ve seen for Korean style bbq)Went on the Saturday before July 4th so it’s possible low meat selection was because of holiday.
Completely authentic Asian grocery with all the things, plus a Hispanic section.
Everything you need to create Asian dishes at a reasonable price.
They had somethings in their store that you would not see in any other store.
Great selection, if stopping by get the duck. Fresh seafood, great fruit selection.
Bought 2 red snapper $27.00. Had to dump it. Rotten. Don’t buy fish in this market. There are live fish. Otherwise don’t take a chance.
Love their live SEAFOOD DEPT- S MUST SEE
Love this place. One of the better markets in Charlotte. Seafood market has a large variety and the Thia Boba tea is amazing
Service was excellent prices very reasonable and all the item was very fresh good place to shop
They had a variety of foods. It was my 1st. Time and Im hooked. WILL BE DOING MAJORITY OF MY GROCERY SHOPPING HERE. I recommend this store for cheap prices on produce & other foods. They accept credit.debit & E.B.T. CARDS. IT WAS NOT CROWDED. THE STAFF IS VERY NICE..
The freshest fish in Charlotte hands down!
HUGE place. Great selection. Found a few hard-to-find ingredients (asafoetida, natto, and black Persian limes).
Great place to find a wide variety of Asian goods - for some reason, their onions (any variety) seem to go bad much quicker than onions I purchase from anywhere else, otherwise everything else is great quality.
I always love coming here! The prices for meat are absolutely crazy in a good way c: theyre cheaper then walmart and they take ebt which is awesome! Very big selection and if you want to get snacks or drinks you can only normally order online on something like aliexpress youll probably find it here and not have to pay crazy shipping or bloated prices!
I’m black. They treated me like royalty! Anyone of color that says different...it was probably their own attitude causing problems.
I drive from Salisbury to get fresh live blue crabs
Live King crabs. Live stone crabs. Good variety of fresh and live seafood. Amazing vegetable and mushroom selection.
Very impressed with Asian Market! Prior to entering the main area of the store, there was a thermal thermometer scanner as well as an attendant. The store itself is very clean and organized. They sell food ready to eat as well as a selection of bakery items. Some of my favorite finds here is the red horse beer, mais keso ice cream, ube keso ice cream, and the oishi crackling chips.
All the Asian groceries you need. They have a second store in Stallings and a third in the University area.
Great place to go.
Such a great place, cant wait for them to be completely settled and unpacked. We normally shop at Super G, but this place had everything we wanted, minus the bakery. Wide isles, clean floors, masks on all the employees, and a great variety of products! The food from their in house restaurant was also really good!
Very good Asian food. but the customer service is horrible.
Wide selections of items and fresh options too! Plus who doesnt love a bakery!
Cool clean place. If youre looking for something Asian centric, theyve got it. But no restaurant style Chinese mustard. Do you believe it?!
Went to buy food at the restaurant inside. Was next in line to order. White guy just walks up gets service before I do. I will never forget that.Never going back. Never!Cater to certain color. Gentrification has taken over. Priviledged!!Have you people never heard of Super G Mart????Go Super G Mart. Independence Blvd. Waaaaaay better!!!!!! Promise you if never been there. This place doesnt want business from people of color.Plus this store is small compared to others. Its only getting good reviews because of the area where the gentrifide have taken over and they dont know where to buy asian food so they can steal that culture as well.Owners answers are very generic and mediocre. Like any owner trying to save face.Owner literally copies and paste the same answers to peoples comments. Clearly doesnt care. Not worth the trip to drive to a bad area.I would rather go Super G Mart.
LOOKING FOR A GREAT GROCERY STORE?Look no further! Asian Market has the best vegetables, and the best thing is that they are always fresh. They also have a GREAT VARIETY of products from all around the world. Their customer service is great, theyre always helping you find the products you need; always responding to the customers needs.Definitely the best market in town.
Prices are good! Fish is fresh and the roasted duck was so good!
Love the options, even live fish....Spices, desserts, like japanese mochi. Bao bun, pickling duck, ect...
I really like this market. They have a huge variety of asian& american foods.
Nice, clean and friendly. Had a lot of products I buy that I cant find in the grocery store. Ill be going back soon to look for the vegan shrimp (konjac). My son who doesnt like going to stores loved it especially the hot food area and how clean and well put together it was. Definitely on my top 5 grocery places!
Big asian grocery store, many option, but be careful with their produce. Went there twice and produce products that I bought is always went bad really fast. Wasted money on that area, always. They have a small foodcourt place, it selling roasted duck.
Always have the freshest seafood ever.
This is probably the BEST asian supermarket I have been to in charlotte. They have a very large and reasonably priced variety of fresh produce and seafood. If you have ever been looking for a certain ingredient and couldnt find it at other stores that wont happen here they have EVERYTHING. They also have a very big selection of snack foods which is nice! This is definetly my #1 pick for Asian supermarkets in Charlotte. I cant wait to go again!
Is your typical catch all Asian market with live seafood and hot prepared food. I would definitely recommend going there. I have purchased several items.
Great asian grocery. Super clean, probably the best seafood place for live crab and lobster around. Will save so many trips to super g mart.
Great variety of fruit! Im a huge fan of tropical fruits and can easily find coconut, durian, jocotes, guayaba and a bunch of other fruits I love, the vegetables variety is even better and fresh fish, would avoid coming on the weekend because it does get crowded.
I visited this market in search of frozen vegan meats on 11/27. It is a pretty spacious store with wide rows so everyone and everything isnt cramped together. I headed to the vegetable section looking around and comparing prices in my head. I did find some organic bananas which I was happy about. Some things were way overpriced. After about 8 mins of me walking around and looking. I noticed out of the corner of my eye, a short man who worked there, who sort or rushed over near me and was watching my every move. At first I thought maybe he wasnt, then it became evident that he was. It made me feel very uncomfortable. I went ahead and purchased my nannas and left. Im actually mad at myself for even making a purchase. The market is not bad but there are others.
First time visiting this store and was extremely impressed! I stocked up on all my favorite snacks and ramen. I made a list of what I needed and didn’t even go in this market for what was on my list because I forgot. Friendly staffed, clean, and stocked shelves! Things I was having to get off Amazon I now find in the store for cheaper. Definitely check them out if your in the area. *** UPDATE*** I went back into today 12/22/20 to pick up some more items I needed and couldn’t find something . I asked one of the gentlemen who was stocking the freezer where I could find what I was looking for. He told me he could speak English and pulled out his phone to have me type in what I was looking for so It could translate what I was looking for. Of course I spelledIt wrong and he went to find a co worker to help me. Definitely Will be my go to from now on.
The store layout is very comfortable for its patrons. I love the seafood section. An excellent variety of fresh fish and seafood
Much more clean and organized than the one in stallings. Plenty of chinese and other international selections. Plenty of fresh variety seafood with abundant live lobsters.
Most amazing place to buy vegetables and seafoods. Love it! Apparently, this grocery store have very diverse employees. It is a true international grocery store. With respect to grocery shopping, it has the most positive vibes around Charlotte area.
Love to shop here. Clean seafood section. Fresh blue crab. Lived lobsters. The salmon is very fresh. The seafood manager is very cool and give the best customer service. Good place to shop. Very clean and will be back for more and more...🦞🦀💯😄😄😄😄😄
Very expensive place to buy Asian food.
Clean and large. Also has roast duck and hot food. The duck is cheaper than the other Asian market and in our opinion, tastes better too. Wish they had more hot dimsum options on the weekends. Need a quarter to unlock shopping cart.
Its a good neighborhood asian store with plenty of selection to choose from, but is outclassed by a similar store on independence boulevard called Super G Mart.Plenty of ingredients and spices to choose from, but mostly seems chinese/Vietnamese focused rather than covering all asian supplies, altho it has it to some degree.
VERY CLEAN!Best smelling fish market Ive ever been to.
Its look clean and neat. The craw fish we order at the food section is so dry .the sauce was good but the crawfish are dried and the meat is hard to eat. Looks like is double cooked . Will not buy cooked seafood there .
This place is great to shop at, ESPECIALLY during Coronavirus: they check your temp at the door and you can see them wiping stuff down. And the place is large and spread out, so even if there are other shoppers you can easily move around folks.Highlights* Clearly a sister store or spin-off of New Asia (formerly Grand Asia) in Stallings. Like there, produce is super fresh and high quality. Unlike there, selection is relatively limited but still has all the staples.* Large seafood selection* Inexpensive tableware like bowls, chopsticks, etc.I could do without the receipt check as you leave. Its not like theyre going through your bag, its just a casual process and unnecessarily slows things down.
Very clean and organized market. Its fairly new so there are still some empty shelves and missing items. Im looking forward to the food bar opening up soon! Looks like they will have some dim sum and bbq items. Bring a quarter if you want to check out a cart. Security also checks your temperature before entering the market for precautionary measures.
Amazing, wonderful place. Good prices
Best Asian market in CLT. The seafood rocks and all kinds of fun discoveries on spices and products.
Nice fast food duck and huge venue but few frequents equaling low quality meats and veggies- be warned on the latter
Lack selections and known brands compare to Asian Corner.
Great variety of hard to find Asian foods. Fresh seafood and produce. The store is spotless, very friendly and helpful staff.
Good seafood
Best place right now to get lobster! They have have a special sale on live lobsters going on currently. This place is physically huge, it reminds me of H-mart from other cities. Those of you who arent familiar with that, its like an international Harris Teeter or Publix with a food court. Its still very new and they dont have all their inventory but they still have a wide selection of groceries and fresh seafood. Its nice to finally have a big international market in this side of town thats relatively clean and not smelly! They also check your temperature before you enter for those who care!
Very clean and organized, less overwhelming than Super G Mart. Fresh meats and produce. Great prices on everything.
Amazing. Clean. Great prices. Temp check at door and mask required perfect.
Wide selection of seafood. Very organized!!!Going there again for seafood.
I love this store they had my Lobster shrimps King Krabs I enjoyed the atmosphere here I will be back
Clean. They are encouraging social distancing, beginning with your temp being taken at the door. Didnt see anyone inside the store without a mask. Food was fresh, especially seafood. Great prices
