We love Longhorn! They have classic (delicious) diner fare cooked and served by some of the nicest ladies you will find.Their waffles are the bomb - crispy, fluffy, a little chewy (in the best way), buttery. The atmosphere here also cant be beat. Classic, friendly, cozy, and local. This place has been around for a long time (I have fond memories of coming here with my grandma when I was little) and I hope it sticks around so I can bring my kids someday.FYI - seating is limited, so I think this is best for a cozy meal with your favorite person. But, there are larger tables outdoors.

Probably the worst breakfast i’ve ever had. First, it smelled like an ash tray.I got scrambled eggs, grits, bacon, and toast. The eggs were tough and weird. Grits and toast weren’t on the plate. Asked for them and got the grits but still no toast. Fiancé got an omelette and he couldn’t even eat it. For 3 people it was over $30 and we all got water. ?? also it’s off putting to watch the employees touching all the food bare handed and microwaving stuff. Idk, just a little too grunge for me.

I am a new resident of Chattanooga. I am writing this review for people like me who have just relocated to Chattanooga. I will keep this kind. This is NOT A PLACE FOR NEW RESIDENTS TO DINE, PERIOD. It appears to be for folks who have lived here for much of there lives, locals before I arrived..(:Seriously, to new Chattanoogans, DO NOT EAT HERE. The food is really, really bad. The worst food I have had in many years in a diner or restaurant. It was prepared horribly and seemed to be stale food products to use for cooking. I ordered a simple breakfast of eggs, grits toasts and bacon. The restaurant needs to be DEEPLY cleaned and is very dirty.

This is the definition of old school. The building, the food style, the management. The food is good. This isnt to be compared to restaurants of the new age industry who compete in a world of food luxury. This is back to the grind, the old world, come and eat food - food is necessity.I had a very friendly experience here and I recommend it to you.

Southern style cooking. My favorite. 5 stars. Definitely good food and worth stopping in to eat big or small. The service makes it worth stopping in here to eat and visit awhile.

Hands-down the worst breakfast I have ever eaten. Omelet was made from one egg and the watery grits were served cold and had to be microwaved. I was expecting a quaint, nostalgic experience, but had to settle for awful food, unclean surroundings and very unfriendly service. Maybe I hit them on a bad day, but I dont plan to return.

Great cozy diner! Small and comfortable, the wait staff checked on me regularly, refilled my water and coffee often. Had eggs, sausage biscuit, and a waffle, and everything tasted great. Biscuits were made from scratch and flaky, sausage patty was large and delicious. Well-priced, too! Great breakfast for a great price!

This place gets a bad rap for looking old. Well guess what? Its been there forever doing the exact same thing its doing today. Slinging up delicious, made to order, cheap breakfast. If you want avocado toast, this is not your place. If you want southern style, down home bacon and eggs then give this place a try.

The Long Horn is one of the last great original places left on the North Shore. Tucked in between new and up coming businesses and shiny condos, this icon of Chattanooga still stands firm after almost 60 years. The food, is amazing and delicious it truly can remind one of grandmas cooking from there childhood. I will always recommend this restaurant to locals and travelers alike.

My experience here was great. I was a little worried when I saw other reviews and it looked like they had had a bad health inspection at one point, but the food was decent. Before I retired this was my regular breakfast stop - they fix it they way you want it (or sometimes order what you want - eat what you get :-). It is always good, basic breakfast. Sadly now I can only get down there a couple times a month. Good wholesome American breakfast. Try the corned-beef or Western Omelet, favorite is still Chicken Fried Steak and eggs or just plain biscuit and gravy. Thats the way to start the day.

Review №44

A nice restaurant for breakfast or lunch. The waffles here are better than The Waffle House. Bigger and softer. Plus, this place has a blueberry waffle, but The Waffle House discontinued theirs. The sausage patties here are about double the size of those at other places. The food is all quickly prepared to order and the staff are very nice. They have newspapers available for reading and music playing popular hits. No TVs.The seating areas are small. The booths only hold 2 people max. And there rest of the seating is stools at the food bar.The prices are very economical. A great full service meal, for not much money. The one drawback, is that they charge 75 cents if you dont pay with cash. No matter how much you spend, they impose the fee on any card transaction.

Overall a bad experience. The building is small, cramped, and uncomfortable. The tables and floor were very dirty, and there were crumbs all over the place. The service was awful. Our waiter was rude and unfriendly. They gave of a feeling of walking into someones kitchen and MAKING them cook for you. The food itself was nothing to write home about. The portion sizes were very small and the prices were too high. I would not recommend eating here.

Very friendly staff and patrons with a nice dinner atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was bad. Eggs over medium should not have runny whites. Canned gravy with no appreciable amounts of sausage. I used to like coming here. Now it’s never clean, the food is average, and the wait staff looks at you sideways when you ask for silverware to eat the food that they just put on the table. Then they go bust a table before getting the silverware for the food that is in front of their customer. Just basics they don’t do well. And they charge $.75 to use a credit card in 2019.

Got sick here! Atmosphere and location is nice but the food is overpriced and over-hyped. They dont make a single thing from scratch, just heat up pre-made ingredients which I could do at home. The owner is lovely but the rest of the staff are very flat and uninviting. I had a very disappointing burger last time I went and my stomach felt terrible for several days following my visit. I am all about first impressions and this was a good one. Walk in and youre immediately greeted by the wonderful staff, warm country music in the background, and the awesome aroma of coffee and fresh waffles. Buffalo Bill, Butch Cassidy, Jesse James, Davey Crockett, every heard of them? Longhorn is not for the faint of heart. This is where true Americans eat breakfast. Coffee served black, bacon greasy, eggs scrambled. Yes maam, no maam to the ladies busting their humps for everyone in there. Owner hasnt put a penny into remodeling since 1950 when it first opened, so if you care more about the way it looks than the way it tastes, prance on over to Milk and Honey next door, Longhorn doesnt need your money. If the walls could talk they would tell you about the Cuban Missile Crisis, JFK assassination, walking on the moon, MLKs I have a dream speech, Roe V Wade, Watergate, Reagan, The Cold War, Microsoft, Clinton and Lewinsky, Tupac and Biggies death, and so much more. Longhorn has been around since before most people reading this were born, and you better believe itll be there when theyre gone. Food for the soul will always last, and never waiver.
