Been going to Everybodys, now Big Y for at least 20 years. Love the store, but I am waiting for the mask mandate before i will return. Too many employees and customers without masks. It is too dangerous for someone like me.
Wonderful Fresh & frozen GF foods. Great produce; beautifully displayed. I was relieved to find delicious GF and Peanut Free baked goods. So happy to find grain free cat food & natural cat litter options. The staff work very hard to keep everything squeaky clean and provide the best customer service.
Clean, well stocked but expensive. Good selection of vegetables and organic goods. Employees are friendly and helpful. Parking is tight.
Beautifully renovated and awesome layout. Very customer and shopper friendly. Do yourself a favor and get the Zuppardi’s frozen pizza. It’s delicious!
This market has been completely renovated and looks awesome. Staff is knowledgeable and professional, management is very professional and kind. I LOVE SHOPPING HERE
I love Big Y and shop there regularly. I noticed today the notice on the door stated that vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask, Im vaccinated and continue to wear a mask because I feel safer. I worry for people with compromised immune systems (some relatives)being subjected to people who havent gotten vaccinated and dont wear a mask. It is too hard to go on the honor system.
We got there just after 5pm and the sushi was either already raided or just understocked. The store in Cheshire less than 2 hours before had a beautiful selection, so I regretted not picking some up there. Huge selection of prepared foods, salads, deep fried stuff, wraps, etc. Average selection of gluten free food - about the same as the store in Cheshire. Average floral department. It was eerily quiet for the dinner hour, even though the parking lot was a bit crazy. Nice store, will probably go back on next trip to Gaylord. If I lived close by, I would probably shop here for certain things but get less expensive basics at Aldi.
Havent been at that particular store in a while, very nice update and addition to the store.
The store is beautiful, clean and organized. Little bit of cultural items. Great meat and seafood department. Bakery is fabulous. I love this store but its a bit pricey for me. Coupons bring me in. They stock a ton of organic fruits and veggies.Staff are kind and respectful of our wants and needs.
Great place to shop with great prices
Picked up some chicken and steak skiskababs at the butcher. Cooked them on the Weber grill, they were easy and delicious.
I am so sorry! That review was made unintentionally. I love Big Y! Its my favorite grocery store and has great quality and breath of products. Thank you keeping us fed during this difficult time!
Always clean and stocked. The cashiers are pleasant and most helpful.
The store is small. Fitting for such small minded people. If you are so afraid of a black person approaching you for assistance, maybe you need to find another job. I never felt so uncomfortable. Thank you for your fake smiles.
This Big Y is quite small and seems to have a limited selection. Things dont seem to get restocked quick enough. I understand its Covid... but other grocery stores seem to do it better. Love Big Y but this specific location is lacking.
I go there for unique items like Texas toast, or organic/health products, their deli has large variety of salads
Great staff create a nice place to shop.Their prepared foods are very good.
Nice store great employees need updated bathroom
Self check out area needs to be kept clean and sterile on a more frequent basis...machines are not kept sprayed down by attendant and floors need to be mopped a bit more as well.
Great local supermarket. I love there bakery items, and the fresh produce. They buy local, so items are always fresher.
It was fine, not too busy. I went in only to get bargs diet root beer. Still out of it I havent found it there in 3 months. I cant find that anywhere.
Big y was GREAT today with their specials, which is why me and my pocketbook goes there!! The $.99 grapes are delicious!! I even found a Daisy Ham Roll, which I havent seen for YEARS!! I was VERY satisfied at BIG y today!!
Ty Melissa for your kind attitude..but no wraps for sandwiches
There are really good things about this Big Y: its clean, it has good prepared food if you need that, a good floral section, and a fairly wide selection of organic foods. However, Im really frustrated with its selection of other items. The produce seems limited and not always the freshest. And this was before Covid. Shelves, since Covid, are not restocked in a timely way--though there seems to be enough staff walking around, and I know other grocery stores outside of town do not have this restocking problem. Even before Covid, Id ask for something that is not an uncommon item (like Black-eyed peas, or Irish Breakfast tea), and the staff would just shrug at me and say Yea, we dont carry that. For a big store, there is not enough of a selection, and I dont want to buy the store brand, which takes up a lot of room on the shelves. The staff is fine, but fairly indifferent to customers, and its constantly changing. It is a pale comparison to the Everybodys Grocery, where if I asked for something in particular, they would at least try to stock it, and where the shopping experience was generally friendly because I saw the same people every time I came in. It really was a hometown grocery store. Ive been doing most of my shopping elsewhere because at least I can get what I want, even if the experience is not that great.
Big Y always has the best cooked Chicken Roasters. They are big and not dried out. I only get roasters from them. Have tried other grocery stores and none have compared to the Big Y roasters.
So much nicer than Cheshires other choice and so much better with the new expansion. And theyre still cleaning all the carts for us where others have stppped or let supplies run out. Dont forget to ring the bell on the way out!
Currently expanding, under construction, however, store is clean and the people are wonderful. Also if you want some great sushi visit this place! Its made fresh daily and is absolutely delicious!
Recently going through a remodel, but nowhere else in Cheshire has quick grab sushi of this caliber, with a fantastic and fresh meat and fish selection. The bakery is amazing, and very expansive. The whole store is easily the best supermarket in Cheshire.
Great store with lots of grab n go meals - had the sashimi poke bowl and it was so fresh and tasty
This store is always clean with helpful staff. We enjoy getting cooked meals from the seafood department. But one of the best assets is the older gentleman who works collecting carriages, offers to help put bags in the car, and is one of the friendliest person I have ever met. I always forget his name, but it is Ray or Roy. I always forget, but I recognize him when I see him smiling and greeting EVERY customer with a smile and a kind word.
Less crowded as the other grocery store in town. Great bakery & deli.
Pricey if your not careful. Fresh Foods. Vegetables and fruits Set up Farm like! Nice hot bar selection. Look for the deals! Their Seafood casserole is quite the treat at $9.00.
Best staff ever! A little pricey but the helpful staff more than make up for the higher prices. You have to know your prices and buy things in bulk when they are on sale because the buy one get two free sales are great! Today the glass bottle return was full and I left my bag full of bottles to return by the machine and while I shopped the assistant manager put them all through for me and handed me my receipt just as I was going back to do them! Amazing! Always go above and beyond for customers!
Clean and courteous
Excellent customer service, selection
Very neat & organized!!!
Just love this place
Might just be that I’m not used to it, but only negative is it seems to lack a few essentials from a vegan perspective. Stop and Shop offers a better selection for my specific eating. Where they do standout from the rest is the freshly ground peanut butter, amazing that they have this.Registers are a bit out of date, staff is still dressed like the 1950s and all staff has been extremely pleasant and attentive.Overall nice store and staff is really the key factors here. Deserving of a 4.
Nicer, cleaner and more selection than Stop n Shop up the street.
The store is proceeding through many upgrades and I cant wait to see it!
Great prices and great customer service
Jessica at the hello desk in Cheshire helped me sign up for the savings. She took me step by step, didnt rush anything.Signed me up for digital coupons and is mailing me the flyers. They have good sales, but 1 get 2 free deals. But you have to watch other items, meaning I shop around, o could pay .50-$1More for an item I can get somewhere else.So my advice, if you have the time and want to save money, just go for the buy1, get 2 free.
Outstanding staff. Left my purse in the restroom. An employee turned it in to the service desk. Cleanest grocery store Ive ever been in.
A surprisingly good selection for a store this size. They always have duck and lamb, fancy tonic for my Hubs G&Ts, great service from really nice people at the deli and meat counters, decent bakery... This is my favorite local grocery store.
Located off main road in plaza that has easy access. Lots of parking.Good deli and meat sectionNo 24 hour parking
I travel a lot and I see a lot but big Y especially the one in Cheshire quality of stuff is first class. And the service is 5 * hands down
This store is clean, well laid out and has incredibly friendly staff. They have some really wonderful products and a wide variety of interesting foods. Great deli, butcher, and fish counter, and they give excellent advice.I spend less and get better quality than when I used to patronize a super-store.Grocery shopping has turned into a pleasure! They serve free coffee and you have a chance to spin a computerized slot game to win a discount and there is an old-fashioned bell to ring as you leave -- just enough little gimmicks to add interest.I drive past at least one competitor to go to Big Y in Cheshire -- so worth it!
2 EV charging stations, free, level 2
Great !Cheshire Ct Big Y is excellent. There staff is super friendly ALL the time. Store is always clean as can be . Drive out of my way to shop there .Try there prepared food, it is always very hot, fresh and delicious...great when we need home cooking on the spot.A+
Great store with fantastic people. As of today, they still have lots of food.
Everytime I call of need to find Alaskan king crab legs they always have it in stock. Stop and Shop never had them in stock and never seem to help get them in stock. Big Y is always helpful.
Bought my lunchIn and out in a few minutes
Always fresh produce and even during this tough time pretty well stocked
Nice place, people very helpful, nice selection of fish and meat. Checkout personnel very pleasant as well.
Great store for its size. They have a nice selection and the store is nice and clean. Staff is very friendly. I enjoy shopping here.
Its a wonderful store...like our own Whole Foods but so much closer..
This Big Y is the best. The prices are reasonable, the store is clean, the people are nice and they have a great selection of food. Definitely 5 stars
The service from pulling into the parking lot to checking out was outstanding. Employees are eager to help and work with a smile. Very pleasant experience.
Very small store. Not your typical Big Y larger supermarket but then again maybe more of a neighborhood store? I was in the area for business and stopped in to get a sandwich from the deli which was very good and priced nicely also.
Just a nice olde time grocery store 😋
This place is beautiful. All kinds of very interesting things. But you pay for it dearly. They have to have wild sales just to make things reasonable 4 for the price of one and stuff like that. Because the price of one cost as much as four. Its frustrating to see such good things but then also such limits. Even Walmart has more basics kind of strange.
Love this grocery store. Great prices for meats and a wonderful selection for the salad bar. They also make really good sandwiches at the deli counter. Much better than a subway sandwich and cheaper!
Big Y is very well lit and is very clean. In my opinion though, its way to expensive. I can travel the extra distance to Wal-Mart or my local Stop&Shop, but the same thing and still have money to spare. The customer service however, always seems to be on point! Great looking meats and produce. Guess in the end its up to you.
Nice store for food and paczki great. But Cheshire store is just too small.
I really like big y but why do they need to charge $4.50 for a loaf of bread everyone else sells for $2? But their meat is really good
The older man that collects the carriages and helps bag groceries is wonderful! I wish I knew his name. Nicest person and so helpful!
Clean store. Friendly & helpful employees!
Big y has some good deals, most of the good deals though include having to have gold coins for the cheap prices. They do a lot of buy 2 get 1 free deals, but they charge twice as much so it really ends up being more like buy 2 get 1 free. Id much rather go to any other store for my grocerys.
Great place to shop, Chris in the deli is wonderful.
Found what I needed and there was no line to check out. What could be better?
Friendly, helpful employees. Excellent ready-to-eat food! Delicious bakery! Fresh produce!
Super service Fresh and well stocked. I go there to get what I need quickly.
I highly recommend this store to very one who needs fresh, high quality & inexpensive vegetables! Great customer service too.
The Y was absolutely huuuge! I am going to see if they will change the name to huuuge Y if I give them a dollar or two!
I went to big y for some hot bar food. The food was great but when I went to register a woman named filomena seemed very rude and frustrated with a customer for putting a telephone number in wron . When I was waiting in line. She kept talking to herself under her breath. I found that to be very rude. When she was ringing me out she was not very friendly at all either. I personally dont think people like her should work with the public. I work with the public and it can be very tough. She may have had a hard day but to treat other people nasty isnt good at al . If I see her on a register Ill go to a different one. Not friendly at all
Never normally have issues here, people are good natured.
Always a nice experience. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice mix of products. Even has hot and prepared meals.
Always great service at this small but mighty grocery store.
BIG Y MY FAVORITE INDEPENDENT GROCERY (this one has great prepared meals, awesome salad bar, wing bar,) PERSONAL FAV!
Open space wide variety and good prices
Today is November 4. Last Sunday, I purchased a container of tomatoes and 2 containers of Olivias salad. As I unpacked the tomatoes, I discovered that they were bad....soggy, black. I threw them out. Today, I went to use the salad, dated 11/10, and it, too, was bad. I purchased mixed nuts out of the containers in the store, to the tune of some $14.00 per pound. They were clearly going rancid. This is a pattern of experience Ive been having with this store, and Ive decided that its worth returning to a smaller IGA store in a neighboring town that carries produce that is is FRESH.
Always a great place to shop. Every big y usually is though.
Carries locally made brands. You seldom wait long in line. Friendly, helpful service
I live so near Big Y I can hear the trucks unloading throughout the night, yet I dont feel any particular allegiance to make purchases there mostly because of one incident. One of my kids applied for a job there and the assistant manager was way out of line in her questions, asking about stuff that had nothing to do with working in a grocery store. Also, I totally agree with the person that said the staff needs to be trained in bagging. It is a rarity to come home with bags that have the heavy stuff on the bottom and light on top, or the items that need refrigeration be in a separate plastic bag. Other than those two negative comments, Big Y has good stock and generally the staff is friendly. The pricing could be easier without fussing with the gold coins, but some people enjoy that type of marketing I suppose. Im not one of them.
Great deals on items in the store, perfect for stopping in if you only need a couple thing. If you are doing grocery shopping the store is really small.
The crew themselves are great, but the head front manager is entirely unprofessional and rude. I go to this store every week with a 93 year old WWII veteran, and while helping him find his Big Y card when we got interrupted and i got accused of stealing from the gentleman that i take to the store every week, where we say hi to said manager almost every week, bc i looked like a punk. If it was up to me id never step foot into this store again.
Always very organized and helpful and friendly...prices are a little high for our big family, but a great place to grab last minute forgotten items from your normal grocery runs, especially since it is close to home and has very fresh items.
Love big y(everybody;s) but they DO NOT KNOW HOW TO BAG! Bagging 101 is needed for all cashiers/baggers.
Staff are so nice and helpful. A bit pricey and closes early but other than that has that comfy neighborhood feel.
I love this store. Its a smaller version of the other Big Ys, but the friendliest staff who have gone above and beyond to help me.
I love big Y. Great produce and cheese bar. Everyone working there is so friendly and helpful!
For a big y its not that big but the store is very clean and bright and products are nicely faced.
Friendly staff, Easy checkout, fresh food all at reasonable prices. Love it
Very friendly, helpful staff. Best meat of any grocery store.
Not well stocked but employees helpful and well-mannered
Was happy to see Spencer back at work!!!!! Excellent employee.
The store layout can be confusing
Love this place employees are top notch great helpers and most friendly cant forget the manager
