This is our second project with Gilkey. They were clean, courteous, and provided a fair price for the market. They actually were able to manufacture our patio door ahead of schedule, and the installation is a thing of beauty. We had 3 replacement windows installed; 2 bow windows and a horizontal slider. The installation went smoothly. Once finished, you could not tell the installers were there. Both inside and outside the construction areas were spotless once they were done. The windows are fiberglass, triple pane and very solidly built. We are very satisfied with the initial quality and installation but will wait and see how they perform during a harsh winter and summer storm season.

Now this time installers left some mess on my deck(caulk and Spray foam) not a huge deal but my self being in the trades as well I would have at least try to clean that up or atleast told the home owne

The windows in the home I purchased needed to be replaced. From my first contact with Gilkey I was impressed with their obvious commitment to their customers and intent to deliver excellent product and service. I was not disappointed. My 13 windows were installed last week and the results were perfection. Never experiencing window replacement before I was apprehensive about not only the disruption but about potential problems it damage during this project. Gilkey has an excellent product and stands behind it. I had Gilkey window replacement in my previous condo, and suddenly there were no more drafts in the winter. Twice over the years the windows got dinged by the lawn people, and both times Gilkey replaced them at no cost other than the trip. In my new place Gilkey replaced the original very old windows, and once again Im pleased with the integrity and quality of this fine company.

We had 15 windows and 1 slider replaced. The installation was unbelievable. Here at 9 done at 3. You couldn’t even tell they were here. Cleaned up and vacuumed after themselves. Professional through and through. We had some issues with the screens and they were on top of it and fixed it right away. The windows themselves are AWESOME!! Even our permit inspector commented how great our windows are. We used to have blinds over our slider and we don’t need it anymore! Can’t feel the heat or the cold through the glass. They are beautiful and we couldn’t be happier!!

We used Gilkey Windows to replace some of the windows and the sliding glass doors in our home. They were wonderful from start to finish. They kept in touch through the process, letting us know when they had received approval from our village to do the replacement, when our windows were being produced, and then coordinated a convenient date and time for installation. I was not home when they installed them, but my husband was and he said they were professional and very thorough in making sure the installation was done properly. Once installed they showed my husband how to use the various features. We love our new windows and will be using Gilkey again when we are ready to replace the rest of the windows in our home.

Their salesman did a good job helping me to get the right window style. I know him for years, and even recommend him to my friends.The reason I gave them 3 stars is because of their scheduling. I should get it installed within 14 weeks but they had manufacturing delays. And then they had installation scheduling delays. So it took them almost 18 weeks before they sent me installers.Installers did their job very well.

The sales person was very knowledgeable and helped us through the process of selecting exactly what we needed. The Gilkey quality and price point was a good value and Im confident in the windows for years to come. The installers were professional, did a great job and cleaned everything up. The end result of the windows is very positive.The reason why I didnt give 5 stars...1. It wasnt clear to me that there would be a strip of unfinished wood on the inside all of our window sills. The sales person and I discussed the trim, on some windows, that needed to be painted, but not ALL of the windows in the house. This will require me (or hiring someone) to stain and finish or paint all of the window sills that are now bare wood. I didnt anticipate this amount of work or cost to have it done and feel this should have been explained more clearly.2. We were told it would be a single day install and it ended up being two full days. We had to cancel plans and stay home on Saturday to accommodate this, but the installers were very good so Id rather have them take two days than a rushed install. The expectation should have been set at two days and if they finish early, great.

Outstanding product, immaculate professional installation

I purchased from gilkey because they have a great product and reputation not because of the salesman who did not bring a tape measure (and referred to me by Jennifer - my name is not even close). The building permit Gilkey obtained had my neighbors name on it and my receipt and warranty were received 2 days ago - with my name misspelled. However, the installers were great! They were polite, professional and cleaned up everything. The windows look and work great. Product is 5 star, the upfront customer service needs some work.

I am extremely happy with my Gilkey experience! Neil our sales rep was such a pleasure to work with. We just bought a house in Downers Grove and the back door was original from 1988. It was falling apart, didnt fit right, wouldnt close or lock properly. It swung into the kitchen area which was a poor design as the only spot for a proper kitchen table was right by the door. We needed this space converted to a sliding patio door. The installers worked fast, but did an excellent job and I couldnt be happier. My wife loves the sliding door and it looks beautiful! Take this to the bank....the price was only slightly better than what we were quoted by the big box stoors, but the quality is 10x better! Ill never use anyone else for doors and windows. Gilkey is the real deal and Im so glad I called them. I hear about Gilkey all the time on WGN and radio and thats the initial reason I called.

We had Gilkey windows installed in our condo building over ten years ago. I have been so impressed with the lasting quality that I never considered another company for my recent patio doors purchase. Gilkey did not disappoint. The expertly installed new doors are everything I was promised, and I couldnt be more pleased.

Gilkey was far better priced than the competition, and the windows are more elegant. We got 6 windows replaced and it was done really well, left in perfect condition. I also think the warranty is among the best. We had done a lot of research before arriving at Gilkey. Much better windows at much more affordable pricing.

The sales rep that came to our house was incredible...very informative and detailed. We were looking forward to making several upgrades to our home. I would suggest better communication between installers/schedulers and the customers. Our initial order was for 3 windows and initially we were so impressed with the sales process we called back to get a second quote for more windows even before the first batch were installed. However we cancelled that after the lack/miscommunication from the installation department.

Had 8 original windows replaced with a combination of double hungs, casement and one picture window. Great experience from the sales person through installation. The sales person was newer but still knew his stuff and was not pushy. The installation was quick and the clean up - both inside and outside my house - was fantastic. Windows are great - especially now in the cold weather.

We talked to about 8 or so window companies in the area and found that the sales person was the most comfortable and not pushy at all. The product is a nicer product for the price and we feel very comfortable with our purchase. I would definitely do business with them again.

The two window installers were professional and efficient. When a hairline fracture was noticed, they quickly notified the company to make a new panel. Within 10 days the panel was replaced.I am very pleased with the windows!

I called about getting a custom Storm door on my home. I was told they would not come out for that. I would need to have a bigger order and also have them do my main door. I told them I didnt need the main door just the Storm door. They told me sorry NO! WOW wish I can give them 0 stars I was sent there by the door company that they sell for and they still denied me UNbelievable. Dont go here unless you have a big order They definitely do not care about the little people. WOW

We had 23 windows replaced. 2 men completed the job in a day and a half. Very neat, professional and clean, both inside and out.No problems or surprises. Extremely satisfied with entire process.

I had most of my windows changed over the course of 2+ years. Gilkey has competitive pricing. Very good service both in install and fixing problems. Sometimes they get the hardware color wrong but easily replaced. Some windows had problems. One molding had the wood coating starting to peel off and Gilkey readily replaced it. One batch of windows which happened to be all the windows on the west side had the corners slightly damaged in that the wood simulated covering had been scratched off. No effect on function just aesthetics and they just put some touch-up paint on the corner. Would have required the replacement of the whole window to get a perfect one. So the quality is patchy.

Could not tell they were there except for the new windows!!

I like your windows they met my expectations and the installation was professional . As a matter of fact I decided to have you replace my windows in two of my bedrooms. The same sales man came out and said that I could not have double hung windows installed because the size did not meet egress standards in my area. However, we proceeded with the size and details of the windows I wanted. He said he would further investigate the local egress requirements and if it was a no go I would get my money back. I received a call saying Gilkey would not be able to install double hung windows in this case. I was told the same thing by Anderson renewal. I contacted another reputable window company and they showed me that my area did not have an egress requirement for a building permit. Needless to say I ordered the 4 double hung windows from them. I am disappointed that Gilkey does not know the building permit requirements in my area.

Windows are great and I cant say enough about how great and professional the installers were. I definitely recommend them.

We bought 11 new windows from Gilkey and they all seem to be pretty good quality, but the experience of getting them installed has been pretty frustrating. From order date, the first 10 windows were supposed to be installed at the tail end, or maybe even a little after, the original quoted 9-12 weeks. The forecast for our original install date showed a lot of rain, so we were surprised when they called to confirm our installation. They came the next morning and after being here for about 15 minutes, determined it was too rainy to install our windows and the next available install date was two weeks later. So we waited another 2 weeks and they came again. Out of 10 windows, the glass needed to be replaced on 3 of them due to scratches or imperfections. They were very good about agreeing to replace the glass, so we were thankful for that, but then we had to wait another several weeks for the new glass to come. It came in, they brought it over to install it, and all 3 of the new pieces of glass were scratched or damaged and were worse than the original glass. They didnt know this, however, until after they already took the other glass out. So they had to put the worse glass in the windows and reorder replacement glass for a second time. So finally, on our fourth installation date (another month later), the glass was good and it was all done. But we did order an 11th window after the fact, so we still had to wait for that to come. The quoted time was 9-12 weeks again and it was about 13 weeks when I called to see the status and the window had just come in. We scheduled the install for this past Friday, and they came and installed the window and it looked good and they left. Minutes after they left, after taking a closer look, I noticed that they had scuffed up the entire wall underneath the new window as well as nicked the brand new trim that they had just installed in several places. I called the customer service number immediately and explained that we didnt have the same color to touch up these marks, so she said shed send someone over Wednesday (today) to take a look and try to fix the marks. No one called me to tell me they were running over an hour late today, so when my scheduled window of 11:30 to 1:30pm came and went, I called to check the status and the woman (Barb, I think it was the same person who scheduled the guy on Friday) had no idea who I was talking about or why they were coming. After waiting for several minutes, she finally found the appointment and let me know that he would be arriving closer to 2:30pm. When he arrived, he took one look at the trim and said, Oh, I will need touch up paint for this. Exactly what I had told the woman who scheduled him, but they didnt tell him to bring any. So now I have to wait for them to come for the 7th time to fix the trim.Were happy with he windows, but I am extremely irritated that I have had to be home and available SEVEN times now for several hours at a time. It is very disruptive to my day to not be able to leave the house during these 3-4 hour windows of time because Gilkey will be coming at some point. Im not sure if this is a typical experience with Gilkey or not, but at this point, I dont know if Id be able to recommend them due to all of these issues.
