Got my first session of my dream tattoo done 2 weeks ago and Im so excited to finish it! It looks amazing so far and less expensive than i thought this massive piece was going to be!!! Im recommending all my friends come here!

They were very informative and answered all my questions they really made sure I was always comfortable and even offered assistance for when my piercings are all healed! Great customer service very clean and knowledgeable.

A friend and I went together to get some piercings the other day. I had talked her into going to Royal Flesh because I have gotten both tattooed and pierced there before with great results a few years back. Again, it’s proven to be a great choice. The piercer, Kelly, was absolutely amazing. Did a total of 4 piercings to us, and they are doing great! She’s so smooth with the needle, it was painless and quick, and they look amazing! Very clean, sanitary and took the time to sanitize jewelry prior. Thank You Kelly!

I got my nose piercing here and the service was incredible! Beautiful jewelry to pick from, the piercer was very nice, and the shop was very very clean. i usually have an issue with my piercings getting infected but not this one! my nose was only sore for a couple days after. can’t wait to get my next piercing here!

Don’t waste your time. Went there for a piercing and first off, the piercer was not available despite me calling ahead. Secondly, the artist in the back came out and said we’d have to wait for her, which fine. but then, he also let two parties ahead of me skip in line despite me waiting for 20 minutes and — the prices here are ridiculous. I wasn’t able to get pierced because of the fact I had forgotten my ID but I’m grateful I didn’t waste my money or time on this business. They clearly don’t care about customer service. And there’s so many other places to get pierced that are WAY more affordable in the city and just as clean if not more. For something like a double lobe piercing it should NOT be $200.

They did such a good job piercing me. Barely felt a thing! Lylia was super great with making sure I felt comfortable and relaxed getting pierced and was very clean and sanitary throughout the whole thing. Its been healing very well and I stopped feeling pain by the next day. So happy with the results!

Extremely Overpriced and the Customer Service was Very Poor. The Artist was Very Rude,Sarcastic and Short with me. I will NEVER step foot in there again!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Both my wife and I have nothing but good things to say about the level of experience, expertise, knowledge and just sheer love of the craft that we experience every time we visit. These guys have absolutely hands down some of the best talents in the industry coming out of this building and our artwork absolutely portrays this hard work and dedication. We drive around three hours one way once a month and have never once left unsatisfied with the trip. Shout out to Angelo Tiffe, this man can seriously lay down some beautiful artwork and his attention to detail is paramount.

Piercing was nice and all but let me leave without any aftercare information and offered no information on the types of jewelry. My nose isnt healing the greatest either.

I just stopped in for replacement jewelry, but it seems like a quality place; clean, professional, very reasonable prices, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

We were unable to get piercing for my minor child without a birth certificate or form of ID. Also, he was wanting his septum pierced and they do not do that. We will not be back, wasted a 5 hour round trip drive.

Great shop. Jake is a world class artist and a great guy to boot. I cant imagine going anywhere else ever again. I can say even though I did not get a tattoo from the other guys I looked through their work and its world class as well. This is the only place I will ever get a tattoo at again as long as they are open. The added bonus is that all the artists are friendly and not douchebags.

I have nothing but love for the artists that work at this great tattoo shop. I get so many compliments on my tattoos from strangers and recommend ppl to check this place out. Every artist Ive met here are professional and so talented. They take pride in their work, so I can guarantee youll come out loving your unique ink piece. You can set up an appointment with the artists to go over your ideas for a new tattoo (but they also take in walk-in customers so not necessarily appointment only). The shop environment is very clean and has a great vibe. They use clean, sterile items every time so nothing shady like other locations Ive seen. Also, piercing staff is great, got a daith piercing and it was done so well it healed quickly and looks great. Ive gotten tattoos from Javier, Angelo, Matt and Luscious and I highly recommend them all! Great guys to work with and fun to chat with during your tattoo session. Looking forward to getting more pieces from these great tattoo artists!

Even though my last session at Royal Flesh was one of the longest and most painful of my tattoo career, it was also absolutely one of the best. Javier approached me in a humble, friendly, and confident manner, and dedicated himself to my art for results worth being proud of on both sides. Javier and the whole RF crew were down to earth, straightforward about pricing and details, and easy to chat with through the whole evening, catering to my comfort in every way. It’s also been my best heal yet, at over 20 pieces total, with Javier’s expertise making it a cinch. Easily recommended, as I can say without a doubt that I’ll be back soon!

SKIP this place... unprofessional!!! Don’t waste your time read the other review!! I read them before deciding to give them a chance and that my friend was a HUGE mistake. I thought maybe things have changed and gave them the benefit of the doubt... wrong choice and wasted my time. You want to take your tattoo else where! Not only did I call to set up an appointment, I even had them call me back to confirm. Upon walking in they mentioned I didn’t have an appointment... then told me maybe tomorrow... or maybe NEVER! Don’t confirm an appointment if it’s not legit... take responsibility for your unprofessional business!!! Waste of time! Take your money and tattoo dreams elsewhere!!

Worst tattoo experience Ive ever had. I waned to get a relatively simple tattoo of a jellyfish, so Ive decided to go to Royal flash to get it done. Ive had a pretty good experience there before. I walked in and asked if anybody was available to work on it. An artist named Rick said that he had a design of a jellyfish that would work for me. I looked at the design. It was small and simple, just what I was looking for. The tattoo turned out okay, but a few hours after I got it done Ive noticed a lot of blow outs. Since it was already pretty late, I contacted Rick the next morning. I told him that I didnt feel that it looked right ( I have 12 tattoos, and none of them looked like that). He said that it was still very fresh, and that it was still too early to tell if something was wrong with it. A few days later I contacted him again and asked if I could come into the shop so he could take a look. He agreed. When I came in and showed him a tattoo he said that the tattoo looked fine, and that the blowouts looked like glue residue. Another artist in the shop said that all of my tattoos looked like that, which is bs. Rick also said that it is a difficult spot to tattoo and that this could have happened. Well, I would appreciate if he said that before agreeing to tattoo. I left the shop. Rick told me to contact him in a few weeks. During that time I spoke to at least 7 other artists. All of them said that it was not done properly. They said that the artist went WAY to deep and those blow outs cannot be controlled. Several weeks later, when I realized that the blowouts are not going away, I contacted Rick again and asked for a refund. He told me to come in the shop to take a look at the tattoo again. When I did, he said that he still thinks its a good tattoo because it still looked like a jellyfish. He once again said that its a difficult spot to tattoo, and that the needle he used was way to thin for that spot. Again, he didnt tell me any of that before tattooing. He also said that anyone who said its a bad tattoo lied straight to my face(quote). He said that he wanted to fix it. He said he was going to text me his ideas. The first time he did I said that I really didnt like it because all he did was basically making the lines thicker without even covering up all of the blowouts. A week later or so he sent me a different idea of his where he did exactly the same thing. Thats when I decided to just find another artist and not wast my time. To me it was clear that he didnt even try to come up with something that would probably fix the mess. The guy has to learn to take ownership of his mistakes.

Rick did an amazing job on my tattoo - he was able to take me as a walk-in, helped me draft up my idea with his own twist on it that I was extremely happy with, and gave me an awesome experience getting my second tattoo

I love the environment at Royal Flesh. All of the employees are very welcoming and chill. I live a few hours away from the shop and have no problem driving there, because I know when I get there, its going to be a great time.Ive personally had 12 tattoos done by Kenneth Mickelson. He has great style, an awesome attitude, and a smooth steady hand. I havent gone to any new tattoo artists since getting inked by Kenneth. Kenneth will go above and beyond to make sure your piece is unique and B.A. every time. The dark lines and beautiful color work he has to offer will leave you super impressed. Definitely recommend!

Amazing artists, a clean classy shop ! Kenny has done all 5 of my tattoos and the piercing girls are so professional, I went in to pierce my nose and they nicely turned me away because I had a recent sinus infection in past 30 days she kindly told me as soon as it was medically safe for me to come back. so I did and she hooked me up I love the original jewelry pieces to chose from. Where I live they would have gladly took my cash pierced me and not care one bit. Thank you to all the great people in this shop !!

This was my first experience getting a tattoo. I went with a group and was very explicit in what I wanted: a small hip tattoo in BROWN ink (I even wrote it on the piece of paper that I used to draw the design. I repeatedly asked for brown ink... the guys were even making jokes about the color/shade of brown.) The tattoo experience itself was fine, I felt comfortable on the seat and it was over before I knew it. I dont know what happened, but when I looked at it after it was done, the ink was definitely black. I thought maybe it looked darker because of the purple stencil underneath, but sure enough after I showered and some of the residual ink washed away I could tell it was black. If you go here, you have to be very explicit and make sure before they start to reiterate exactly what you want. First-timers mistake, I guess.

So this post is long overdue....sorry guys!! Hands down best tattoo artist and shop in Chicago. Jake is by far one of the best artist Ive worked with. Not only is his work sick but he is genuinely a great dude! And he has now done a full sleeve for me and an add on to my leg. Cant wait to get in and work on our next piece. One of the cleanest, most professional experiences Ive dealt with. Dave the Piercer listened to my concerns, found and ordered the earings I was looking for, and personally called me when they were ordered, and when they arrived. Very quick, accurate and painless, and I couldnt be happier with them.10/10 would recommend to everybody!

The service at this place is terrible. Not only did we wait over an hour to even be spoken to, but then within 5 seconds of taking our IDs for scanning they misplaced them and spent 15 minutes trying to find them. Waiting an hour here was made even worse by the fact that none of the tattoo artists knew anything about the piercings on display and could answer none of my questions. While giving us the paperwork, they repeatedly gave us papers for getting tattoos instead of for piercings, as if they kept forgetting what we were there for. Overall a disappointing experience— we will not be returning.

Ive been tattooed for a couple of decades now, and have been in many shops. For the last 8 months or so, Ive pretty much decided this is my go-to shop. The shop is extremely well run from both a cleanliness and artistic standpoint. The overall layout of the space is very welcoming. The building is split down the middle width-wise, so it doesnt seem like youre being led to the back of the building to be slaughtered, ha. Plenty of space to work in, for your friends/family to wait while you are getting inked, and the music there is usually fantastic. The windows and lighting are a nice touch as well. Doesnt seem like a dungeon. All of the artists there are extremely capable of making your tattoo idea a reality. I highly suggest you go to this shop. Parking is very available on the street whether youre on Broadway or Irving Park Road. Ive been inked there by Norm and Dustin. Full sleeve work. All tattoos have come out fantastic and Im elated.

Got my fourth tat from Angelo and it’s time to go big or go home!Angelo is one of those rare combinations of a skilled and gifted artist who lives his medium and an old soul, an authentic human being.His use of color got me right away because that’s what I was looking for but his black, shading and line work speaks for itself.Everyone in that shop is top drawer. And, I know they’re great working with those of us who are less than experts. Good people to start with and great for the decerning eye that will know how an artist will treat his vision. Just go in and check out their books and hang a bit, ask some questions. It will be time well spent.In a couple of months, if I don’t blow and appointments, (sorry A) you’ll see legs of Fire and Water from feet to knees with a Coy Fish and a Dragon.Glad I got that outta my system. Man Ive been meaning to post this for a while now. Angelo is one of the greatest artists Ive had the pleasure of working with in this country. Hes so freaking chill and yet professional. I first met him in 2017 before I even planned to move to Chicago but was just visiting for a weekend. Over email, he agreed to do a raven mandala. I expected something the size of my palm - he created something shoulder to shoulder. Eight grueling hours we spent together, knocking this thing out in one go. We even had lunch together before hand, so we probably spent close to 11 hours together as complete strangers.Now whenever Im on that side of town, I pop in to say hi. Without fail, he asks me to lift the shirt so he can show off the badass tattoo he gave me. I adore him and the piece. We are now working together on so many different ideas. I love that I can give him a concept and he just runs with it.Everyone at the shop is wonderful, friendly, and professional. The music is always good. Company is even better.

Wonderful experience the piercing artist Lylia is sweet, professional and great at her job

Recently, I found a tattoo that I really liked online and decided to take the plunge and get it myself. Having never reached out to a tattoo artist to discuss a commissioned piece before, I was more than a little nervous (which is generally my nature) and had no idea where to start. I Goggled around, looking for artists in Chicago that was skilled in the tattoo style of the piece that I found and came across Joe Fryday. I loved his work and knew the shop he worked out of (I had in previous years got a conch piercing done at Royal, along with beautiful jewelry.)Still nervous, I emailed him explaining what I was looking for along with a picture of the design. He responded quickly and we immediately set up an appointment to sit down and go over what I liked about the design and what I could expect going forward. He was professional and answered all of my questions to put me at ease.Long story short: the tattoo came out beautifully, with my permission he altered the design to make it unique to me while keeping the primary look of the piece intact. I absolutely love what he did and how it looks on me.The shop is incredibly cool and clean. All the staff I have interacted at Royal have been helpful, friendly, and professional. I really appreciate Joes patience with me through this process, and I am already looking forward to my next tattoo!Aside: if youre paying with credit card here there is a 5% service charge because awful people ruin it for the rest of us.

I had a great experience at first working with Kenny, then after my second session getting my tattoo filled in my tattoo got infected. I did all the proper aftercare and this has NEVER happened to me before and I have 9 tattoos. The ER confirmed I have a Staph infection. I have to be on two antibiotics now. Told this to my artist and no response. I have never had more unprofessionalism and apathy from an artist I’ve trusted my body with before. Will not come back ever. The owner is an intimidator.

These guys are the real deal. The owner was really fast getting back to me when I showed interest, and Louis Barak ended up doing a sick black and gray piece on my leg. It ended up taking two sessions and he never pressured me to sit longer the first time or showed any sign of aggravation. He was patient with me and gave me exactly what I wanted for an affordable price. Great people, a lot of fun, clean shop. Will definitely be back for more.

I got my tattoo with Anthony and I absolutely love it. He is very trust worthy and a great artist. Also, his realism tattoos are the best. If you are looking to get a tattoo, he is your guy .

I got two tattoos done here. The artists are great, hands-down some of the best Ive ever worked with. They take their time and really try to understand exactly what you want. The actual tattooing took about 4 hours, but we easily spent an hour beforehand talking and sketching out a couple different designs before we decided on the one. If youre looking for talented artists who are willing to work within your budget, I cannot recommend this place enough.

I stumbled upon this place by accident and am so glad I did! I met up with Dustin (@oldirtybadkat), who drew up some sketches to perfection of the lion head I wanted and I am beyond happy with how the piece turned out. Since then, Ive been back to see him for several more and theres no one else Id rather have as my artist. The shop is very clean and cozy, and I love the atmosphere and everyone who works there, as well.

I went in yesterday to get my first tattoo done ever by Eric P here, and it was one of the best experiences Ive ever had! I got a small rose tattoo done on my rib cage complete with lots of shading and Eric made it exactly how I wanted it and insanely gorgeous! He was extremely professional, courteous, and paid attention to what he was doing and what I wanted. Everyone also in the shop was very kind and the shop was kept very clean! I received my first tattoo here upon a referral from a good friend. I worked with Libby and it was an outstanding experience. It was easy to think that I would intimidated or rushed into making decisions but the exact opposite was true. Libby helped me with a design Im in love with. She was very patient as we made decisions and then when it came time to ink up, she was still patient until I was 100% comfortable on size and location. She also spent over an hour on my touch up a few weeks after the initial session.I will be going here again for further work.

I literally just got back from getting my navel pierced, and Joey was phenomenal! He made me feel extremely comfortable (because I was so nervous) and he explained everything that he was doing. He even changed his gloves multiple times! I recommend this shop to anyone, I will definitely go back!

Ive been going to Royal Flesh for a few years now. When I want something pierced Dani is hands down the only person thats going to be doing the job. Ive also had 3 tattoos done there and have been satisfied to a point where Ive introduced 3 friends to them, so that makes for 4 happy customers including myself. The staff is laid back but very professional at the same time. If youre on the fence between choosing the right place Id definitely recommend checking out Royal Flesh.

My experience was pretty disappointing. I went to get my septum pierced and Joanna (I think that was her name, not 100%) told me that my cupid was off center so it might look a little off. I didnt quite see it but I trusted her and appreciated her saying that. I decided Id be ok if it looked just slightly off. The actual piercing ended up being very crooked because she said she tried to adjust for my cupid... I feel like if she just did it the normal way it would have been fine? IDK obviously we took it out and I was not charged. Perhaps the most annoying part of all of this was that afterward she told me that she is NOT THE SEPTUM EXPERT and that I should come back when that person was working. Why wouldnt you tell me that before??? SO now I have a crusty hole in my nose and no piercing to show for it. They offer free re-piercing but only if I had walked out with the messed up piercing which just doesnt make a ton of sense....they didnt even offer a discount or any incentive for me to come back...I wouldve considered coming to see their septum expert but theyve kinda lost my trust now.

I have nine tattoos. Both of the tattoos I have gotten here havent turned out the way I wanted. The first was some decently complicated line work, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But the second was a super small/simple tattoo and it was filled in quite poorly.

If you are looking to get a great tattoo in a clean and non threatening environment this is your place. Angelo is an amazing artist who is patient and his level of detail is unprecedented. I would never go anywhere else.

I had a tattoo from when I was much younger and I wanted to get it covered. So I did all the research on Chicago tattoo shops and realized quickly just by the quality of the websites and portfolios, that Royal Flesh Tattoo and Piercing in Chicago was the place to get this work done. We asked for Quori. I believe hes in the top 10 list of Chicago tattoo artist. My tattoo came out beyond my expectations. The overall ambience I the shop was fun to be in and made gritting through the pain pleasant. In my opinion theres only 1 top Chicago tattoo shop. Big thanks to the whole crew at Royal Flesh Tattoo and Piercing.

I got a piercing by Christian who was AWESOME. He was really knowledgeable and professional. Self proclaimed perfectionist which was exactly the kind of thing you would want. Takes his job seriously. Very sterile environment and experience. Highly recommend

Dustin Badkat and Libby Libberator are amazing artists! Everyone has a different and diverse style! Dani is my piercing go to! Professional, great taste in jewellery and goes above and beyond for her clients. Great atmosphere, clean shop, amazing flexibility. I have had both small and large pieces done by artists here, all highly visible work. I wouldnt get tattooed by anyone else!

My friends and i recently got different piercings done at royal flesh by joey and it was very clean and sterile unlike any other shop i have been to. joey was very helpful and informative about the piercing rather than other places ive gone to he also did a great job on letting us know the aftercare for the piercing. he did a great job and i really recommend you going there if you ever need help or want to get a piercing!!

I have been to Royal Flesh for both piercings and tattoos on multiple occasions. It is a beautiful and clean shop full of talented tattoo artists and an amazing piercer, Lissette, and I am constantly recommending it to people I meet. Most recently Lissette pierced my lip and it healed without a single problem, something I cannot say from piercings I have had done by others. All the artists I have had experience with here have been extremely professional, competent, and talented. Absolutely 5 stars.
