If I live closer, I would spend there all day long. Perfect place to have coffee with friends, to read the book or relax in this magical atmosphere!

Excellent place to pick up records. They are priced on the low end or less mostly of what you would normally find online or a dedicated record store. Theyre stored somewhat oddly which makes them a little cumbersome to sort through, but there are no on your knees sections youll have to stoop to see. Its a place you can spend a good hour at and see just about everything they have. They have a few tables where you can sit and look at the LPs or chat with a buddy in on the record side. The other half of the store is the coffee shop. These were some what expensive, but I guess all coffee is these days.

2020: Sad to see the records go, but there are still many used books for sale. Perkolator is very popular, it looks like they needed the record store space for more seating.2018: Hidden gem in Portage Park. Fair prices and a good selection. Not a big place, but easy to browse and use the listening station. Entrance is through Perkolator.

Went to get coffee and - Surprise!! - record store! Had to come back another time when I could look over the offerings. This is a real hidden gem when it comes to Jazz and Soul. Not a huge inventory on the Soul but the records I bought were in great condition for equally great prices. As in, lets actually charge what this album is worth and not some inflated ebay style of pricing. How rare is that these days? Highly recommended. Lots of Rock but I didnt look closely. Also a classical section, great spoken work/comedy and sountracks selection. Books as well.

I came to the store on Monday and my friend came on Saturday around noon both times the store was locked without any notice.So visiting Sputnik is waste of time, will not go again.
