Great store with a wide selection of boardgames. Definitely a Xandu for TTBGs. Prices are typically better than Amazon or Miniature Market. The fact that they sometimes carry Kickstarter exclusives is just one more plus.
Havent been there in a while. Stopped in today on a whim. Selection is great and service was superb. Definitely going back soon.
I used to come here all the time but one of the employees there is super unhelpful. There was one instance where they told me they would special order something to come in the shop so I could purchase it. Never got a follow up but I tried calling to see if it came in, and they pretty much left me in the dust. I called again to see if it ever did show up and they acted like they were annoyed so I left it alone. I wanted to give this place one last chance so I came in again. I was simply asking for an expansion for a game and employee didn’t even check, flat out told me no. I literally looked around for 30 seconds and found the expansion I was looking for. This was honestly embarrassing. I’ve seen and interacted with the owner multiple times and he’s a great guy/knows his stuff and supported this store because of how cool/friendly he is honestly. But wow that one employee really ruined the friendliness/helpfulness this place had. I’ve since been going to another Gaming Goat near with great prices and with great costumer service. But now I see the owner kept it open while having covid? More of a reason to not come back in.Edit: As you could also see from the responses they provide, they are very immature. I provided a legitimate experience and they still called me a “troll” because they were getting reviews from people complaining that they opened while having covid. My experience had nothing to do with that and yet they don’t even understand the concept that someone could write a review days later from their experience. Truly asinine owners.
Place is great. The person working was most excellent.
Worst card shop in the entire Illinois/Chicago area. I have never seen more over priced product in my life I almost passed out when I saw it. They are trending on facebook for having over priced product. 0/10 do not shop here, search other card shops in Chicago! They also edited there facebook posts after receiving backlash of over priced product. Very sneaky employees. Go support a generous card shop! Not these guys! Also heard they infected hundreds of customers with Covid-19
Fantastic and friendly people who always have great prices.
Very knowledgeable workers, great atmosphere. Even better prices. If you need anything for any kind of board game or trading card game, chances are they have it at the best prices in Chicagoland area
Went there one time to sell some Magic cards for extra cash since it was closer than my normal spot. Was told to come in a Saturday next time as they would be able to buy more from me. Well recently went there on a Saturday and was rudely told they only buy on Wednesdays by the person behind the counter (different than the one who told me to come in on a Saturday.) Then I find out the owner is infected with Covid 19 and was possibly infecting others by staying open. Not returning here and reporting them to the CDC for this as they only seem to care about the money more than the health and safety of their customers.
Favorite spot to pick up games, a breath of fresh air when it comes to the board gaming community. Was happy to see masks being worn as soon as I walked in and the cashier using hand sanitizer before helping me check out. *****
Customer service is horrible through the phone. And was treated with the rude response then I asked if he was always that rude then he went on to cussing me out
DO ***NOT*** GO TO THIS LOCATION. The owner knowingly had covid and continued to keep his shop open and work there. He “doesn’t care bruh.”For table top store alternatives, with amazing owners and products please contact me through my group: Chicago Dungeons and Dragons Meet up.Absolutely disappointing and volatile behavior.
Minus one star for minimal LCG selection and no play space.Other than that, I thought the selection was good and the prices were excellent for a brick and mortar. Definitely recommend.
The owner kept his doors open while infected with Covid-19 supposedly without knowing but regardless his statement below shows exactly how he would have acted even if he had known. I love the gaming community and this is a disgrace to everything we stand for. I have double checked the sources to confirm this information is true. Everyone who is a customer at this business has the right to know the absolute disregard this man has for their lives and the lives of the people that frequent his store. There are plenty of other gaming shops around the Chicagoland area. The Gaming Goat have been made aware of this mans behavior and have chosen not to act so it is up to us the gaming community to vote with our wallets and let this company and man know that we will not tolerate this kind disregard for human life. The owner is now writing fake reviews to bolster his score this is illegal and he can be sued for thisSection 5 of the FTC Act 15 U.S. Code § 45 makes fake testimonials illegal
The owner kept the store open while he knowingly had COVID, and said he doesnt care who he put at risk.
Staff was super friendly and helpful. Really good selection of games, even for non-nerdcore.
Standard selection of 40k models and paints. Out of the same thing everyone else is out of.Service was poor. I dont know who Eddie is but he could not be bothered to get off the phone as he sat chattering away with a friend the entire time I was there and several people in line waiting for service.
Neat place. I did not find what i was looking for but i left happy.
Nice selection of games but boxes whiteout the tags bothering me a lot
The owner is confirmed to have COVID and his response to staying open while knowingly infectious is that he “doesn’t care bruh” as stated when questioned. They have actual awful customer service, only cares about money rather than their customers’ health, and would 100% NOT recommend this location. Other locations like Schaumburg (under great new management) and Elmhurst are amazing. Please relocate to a different location if you need your Gaming Goat fix!Update 1/7/21: My fiance went there recently to look at some of their selection a few weeks ago at around 5-6 PM and when he arrived, the front door was locked. No one was in the store except for whoever worked at the front desk and after banging on it multiple times, the worker finally let my fiance in. He was rude to my fiance, snappy and barely answering his questions he had about pokemon singles, and now I would 1000% not recommend this location.
Eddie and his wife both had Covid but kept their store open and running even though they knew they could be infecting people. I would give this place 0 stars if I could.
I Really like this place. The prices are really good and the people are really friendly and you can talk about lots of stuff with them :) . I wish they had more room is all. would recommend to all my peers.
Small location, but well organized inventory and knowledgeable staff!
Staff and owner are always so helpful and kind!
This place is the best gaming lounge Ive been to. It has so much variety and at a reasonable price. Me and my friends played smash bros and had an amazing time. I recommend it highly!
My sons favorite place to get Yugioh and Pokemon cards!
If you like board and card games come here
Owner is amazing. He offers really good deals and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. Parking can be tight, but dont let that deter you from having a great time here. Highly recommend.
Owner kept store open, with full knowledge that he had covid, when confronted with that fact, said he didnt care that he infected others.
The gaming goat is a good franchise
Great store just wish they had tables for gaming.
Nice store!
Gaming Goat is your go to place for any gaming need. Eddie is the man! Extremely knowledgeable about everything he carries. Always get carried away looking at all the awesome stuff they have when I go in.
Great parking behind the store, dig the selection.
This place rocks! Prices on booster boxes are better than online. Very cool store set up and great employees. Only regret i have is that there is no store half this cool in Minnesota!
Get your COVID19 infection here. Free with entry.
My dad got me a D&D Handbook for my birthday because I really needed one. There was something really gross in between the pages, and when my dad called, they denied him a refund, and told him some other very rude things. He said he was a loser, and not to call back. Totally ridiculous!
Walked in with a couple of friends, one of who has known that owner since the opening of his first shop. Its pretty damn amazing in here, and the owner is really cool. Will definitely be visiting this place again.
The owner, and staff are some of the nicest people. The have a ton of different games and cards, and are always willing to go out of their way to get you whatever you need. Weirdly, they also have the lowest prices, sometimes lower than MRSP. They have a great game area for tournaments and such, and are extremely accommodating. I cannot say enough kind words about this establishment.
Ordered a copy of Root in late November, and received a call in early February that my copy had come in. Six days later I made the trip into the store to pick it up, only to learn that it had been sold the day prior.I love the Gaming Goat in DeKalb, and stopping at this store was a spur of the moment decision as I was passing by. Even though I dont live nearby, I thought supporting a brick and mortar store would be a nice gesture compared to an online vendor.I see that there have been many positive experiences with this store from others, but this was an incredibly frustrating experience, compounded with the suggestion that 6 days was an unreasonably long time to hold a game (but 2+ months wasnt). I could have saved an hours drive and a months-long wait by ordering this online in the first place.Hopefully the store and community are better than what tonights experience has represented, but Im basing this review on this experience and the halfhearted offer to start the process over (which was a hard NO).
Came in one night to trade in a few pokemon cards. Took literally 45 minutes for like 5 cards. This guy doesnt know how to do buisness. Seriously amp up ur game, I am never coming here again. You are so slow. Reader attention: if you want to be in n out, dont come here.
Best game store in town. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and always great prices. Better than Amazon 9 times out of 10.
Great selection of games and plenty of space to play them! A great addition to the far northwest side of Chicago. Very excited to come back and purchase and play games locally.
Always a great experience, super friendly and helpful people
Run by some fantastic folk. And you get great deals on your favorite hobby.
The go to place we use to stock our game club, helps out not for profits!
Wonderful and welcoming environment. After playing games there for five hours this is definitely where my friends and I will go from now on.
Great place with good prices
A bit on the small side but still a cool place and the owner was very helpful even gave us some suggestions on different games to check out
Helped me pick out a game that works for my younger niece and myself to play, super excited to try it out with her 😍
Quite extensive game selection, but has a vibe thats slightly off-putting to new gamers.
A very well stocked gaming store with an owner that knows his games. Very impressed with the selection. Plus they have tables st up for you to play at, a vr gaming area and console gaming available on the other side. Im definately coming back here when I have more time to browse.
Great store for people who enjoy all kinds of board games.
My go to place to buy board games. They honestly always have the best prices.
Great place! Awesome staff. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I plan to be back soon.
Great staff and stuff. They also have the first Omni VR rigs Ive seen live. Thats impressive.
I love games, and this is like heaven. Friendly, happy to help you find what youre looking for. Support your local small business!
Amazing staff friendly nice my kids loved virtual reality worth the $ loved this place amazing people
Bad ice cream 3 game on hudgames even the first level is hard its really challenging but this game so funy
Highly reccommended, place is loaded with gaming and minatures and good prices for retail. Owner is really nice and showed me around the facility. Have lots of VR machines, networked PC and free gaming tables to play on. Parking is tight but the residential area behind has no parking restrictions so you can always park there if the lot fills up.
Its spacious, has a sister business next door that enables for more space, and is run by a guy whos been in the business for a bit. If youre interested in tabletop, card, or board games and your in the area Id recommend stopping by.
SPACE: My friends and I decided to visit their new location out of the blue. Its a lot smaller than their original location on Harlem & Touhy, which also meant that there is no more video games available. The new location has limited chairs and table space, but my friends and I were still able to play our board games while a Dragonball Super card game tournament took place. In total, there were ~15 people seated to play games including my party of 6.STAFF: On top of being friendly, the people who work here are knowledgeable about the board games! Please dont be shy in asking questions! Chris was in the store at the time of our visit, and he was helpful in informing us about the board games we found on the shelves.OTHER: Outside food cant be brought in and eaten there. If feeling peckish, there are some snacks that can be bought in store! There are also other places to eat around the area. As for parking, make sure to park in the back and not in the parking lot right next to The Gaming Goat. Your car may get towed away otherwise! If youre commuting, the CTA Harlem blue line station and Metra stop are close by.CONCLUSION: This is still my favorite board game shop even though it is farther away from me. The people who work here make me feel welcomed and at home! Thank you for making my experience here pretty awesome :)
Probably the best hangout chill area ever! Theres tons of games to choose from and its totally awesome, the staff and owner are super cool and will do whatever to get you what you need!
Awesome place! Would really recommend coming here
Was a good gaming store, but not amazing. Not many RPG materials, and a little on the small side. Prices were straight retail, and it was almost entirely new releases.
Great staff, very welcoming and friendly! Amazing selection and prices, and they have tons of demo copies to try lots of games.
They have great selection and friendly knowledgeable staff!
I Love this store. Very friendly owners and staff. Extremely helpful and nice.
Great shop. Very clean. Wide variety of board games, card games, and miniatures.
Amazing selection of games and a great place to meet people who play games
Awesome selection for RPG gaming and an even better staff.
Owner was super nice, checked on us several times, outstanding board game selection.
Really helpful host & welcoming environment all around. They have everything.
This is a great place for gaming! Video, computer, board, minis, RPGs, LARP.....Omega Station / gaming goat will be the best place to go!
Best prices, great selection, staff and community could not be better! Just come here, you wont be disappointed!
Virtual Reality, Fortnite Tournaments, board games for adults, and they sell Bitcoin now! This place is Awesome!
Love the gaming goat! The people are so friendly and helpful! They listen and help you understand anything you need help with! If they dont know they will do what they can to find you an answer before you leave! They have lots of games, and even furry stuff! Go to the mega station and play your choice of council pc, ps4, wiiu, vr, exit. They are friendly to MTG friends, and dnd. They have miniatures, and card games, board games! =)
Place was pretty cool. The staff is super friendly. The game selection was very broad and they also have great knowledge on what they carry and will come by and share some of it with you when they see your interested in a game to buy. The place is also HUGE. (Might not seem that way at first Tim you lying sack of ****) but the store next door is also owned by them and they have way more table space and gaming rigs (PCs to play with even gtx 1080s in some as of writing this in feb 2018**** and ignite doesnt even have those they only have 1060s.) They also have huge screens for PS4 and Xbox 1 play with friends with plenty of very nice comfy leather couchs.Lets talk about price, is it right? Yes Bob, in fact the price is right. I bought a table top game there for about 58 bucks. On Amazon it was going for WAYYY beyond that. I have no idea why it was but Im super happy I got it for the price I did. Also looked around and other games were priced to sell as well. And you know what their low price got? It got me to come BACK and I will go there first before anywhere else.Check em out. Your gonna like the time it took, I guarantee it. - quote from burrlington coat factory guy.See even he liked it. Who would have thunk it?-Will
An awesome game store, great selection of everything, tons of cards and space to play!
Small store with great selection.
The employees are nice and the store looks great.
