Everything was spectacular, my gf and I went out for a date and this was our first time. The owners are super nice, and the waiters were super understanding. Our waiter even showed us how to grill the meat correctly, and how to use everything to get the best flavor and they were totally right, plus we thought that the price for everything would be well into the 100s but it was only $66. Staff: 10/10, Food: 11/10, Ambience: 10/10 we definitely are coming back with friends and family!!!!!
First off, amazing staff! Everyone was super nice and helpful. The sauces for the meat were almost TOO good. Soup was great too. Nice atmosphere and overall experience. Thank y’all!
Incredible food. Awesome yakuniku where you get to grill over coals. Incredible food and warm and gracious service. Really enjoyed ourselves from start to finish. Looking forward to coming back again
Best KBBQ in the city! Our family’s favorite destination. High quality meats with high quality sides. Amazing, welcoming staff and owners ❤️
Went here for a date night with my girlfriend and honestly had the worst experience. I came in with high expectations because of good google reviews and was tremendously letdown. First off the menu is not fully being served. We ordered few appetizers, the “miso-tan” was flavorless so was the dry af “karage”. We ordered one bbq meat(spicy pork) and tofu soup, which the portions were very small. However and most importantly, we didn’t receive panchan, which is the standards for most traditional Korean bbqs. Not even kimchii or rice!!! The reason we didn’t get panchan was due to us ordering 1 meat for bbq. Their policy is you have to order 2 meats for panchan, it would have helped if we were told that in the first place. I don’t think this is a Korean place. 미친 일본어.I wouldn’t come here again.
It was a great experience my son and his best friend love this place and it was our friends moving away dinner, and We will definitely go here again...
One of the best Korean BBQ spots in the city. Very nice people. Try the green tea ice cream and red bean ice cream. Its very good. 🍨👌
My finace and I went here for dinner last night. I love KBBQ and this place did not disapoint. Im also very picky when it comes to dumplings (you can usually tell theyve been frozen) and theirs are so fresh and delicious. Everything we had was so good and to top it off the staff was so friendly.
This is my sons favorite place..the owners are very friendly and staff is very attentive..had a great time!
Great place for Korean BBQ. The food is good but a bit on the expensive side. Like many Korean restaurants, side dishes comes with your meal. Friendly service. Alcohol is served here. One complaint is that ventilation system. The restaurant is often smoky due to the indoor grill. Walking out, my clothes smell of smoke.
Absolutely love this place, never had anything that I didnt enjoy. Delicious
Good food and friendly service! Tried the kalbi and tripe. Both were delicious! Looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu :)
Amazing service!! Food was fresh, tasted great. Very clean restaurant. Highly recommend.
Love the service and the food was great. We got the combo set of Barbeque and it came with all these amazing small portions of food. Good enough for 2 people. And comes with a little scoop of matcha ice cream at the end. Tasted so good. We did not realize how popular this place was till we went in and were made to wait 20mins to get a table, and there were more people coming in constantly.
Great place to get authentic charcoal Asian bbq, only con is the price per serving if youre coming here hungry. So as long as you dont mind splurging a little, I highly recommend Chicago Kalbi as a go-to spot for more special outings.
We Were Given The Best Experience Last Night. A Wealth Of Knowledge And Expertise Was Readily Available For Every Dish. And I Was Educated On What Fine Sake Is. Thank You So Much, Ill Be Back For Sure¡
The best Korean bbq in Chicago in my opinion. They use high quality meat, everything is seasoned well and consistently delicious. The staff will insist on cutting your long ribeye for you but that’s bc they’re marinated and cut so thin that If left whole they will overcook.
Waited over an hour and a half. Called in two hours early to make a reservation, they told us to just come in without one and we would get seated l. Then made us wait and told us everyone else had a reservation.
Still quality excellent, thats why our family belong over there 7 years
This is my second time coming here and once again I am not disappointed. This place is a fusion between Japanese and Korean food. The bulgogi (불고기) kalbi (갈비) were so delicious. The staff were very accommodating to our group, and very generous with the portions. The green tea ice cream is a must! 감사합니다P.S. For groups with 6 or more people, call ahead for a reservation but even if you do not call, the wait for us was only 20 or so minutes.
Best Korean BBQ. We started with Pajun, which is squid and green onions pan grilled pancake. Yum. Then we ordered Kalbi (Japanese) and Hone Kalbi (Korean) beef. Both are absolutely amazing, but Hone is more fatty which is to my liking. After you place the order they will bring out charcoal grill already super hot coals inside and place it in the middle of the table, following with meats and vegetables (we ordered separately mushrooms and mixed veggies). It comes with small variations of 6 different side dishes (banchan) most of which is kimchi (Korean fermented vegetables). In addition to that, the meal comes with soup and a side of rice. We ate and felt like kings (n queens): staff was very attentive and our beers (Sapporo and Hite) hit the spot. For dessert (yes, thats right, we had dessert too!) we had green tea and red bean ice cream.
When paying the receipt said $243 but when i checked my bank account $292 was taken out so what was the extra $50 for dont tell me that was tip cause i didnt authorize it wont be coming back
Chicago Kalibi is a must stop for us whenever we are in Chicago. We just love the food here so much. They have pictures all over the restaurant of famous people and autographed baseballs who have visited them over the years. We ordered our usual: Kara-age (seasoned fried chicken wings), beef fried rice, bulgogi, squid, and lemon sherbet and green tea ice cream for dessert. The Kara-age are petit, but have such a delightful flavor to them. I do not know what they put in their beef fried rice, it is simple but has such an amazing taste to it. Their bulgogi is marinated and tender and just melts in your mouth. And we always get a kick out of the lemon dessert being served in a lemon. We have been going here for quite a few years now and the wait staff is always so friendly and the owner always recognizes us even though we only go about once a year or so. It does get a little a smokey in here and when the fans get going it can be quite loud, but all of that is worth it for the food.
Good service but food need to be improved
Exceptional quality and service.
Food with real quality ingredients. Looking forward to a return visit. The bill was decent. They have so many good reviews for a reason.
The bbq is a rip off for the customers. This one plate of beef is $19. That’s it. I asked the waitress if they are refilling it after and she said no. The side dishes are overly sweet and not authentic. Don’t waste your time and go eat at an all you can eat kbbq. I can’t believe this place is 4/5 stars. The food is mediocre. The best thing was the sorbet which is disappointing because the focus should be on the food not a dessert item.
This restaurant is the one I always prefer. I go to a lot of restaurants but to this restaurant I constantly return again and again. The team is very amicable and the cuisine they offer is so yummy. I am always happy to have a nice dinner in this place. I highly recommend this place.
Their Kalbi beef is delicious and goes well with the sides. Service was excellent and their Japanese sundae was pleasant surprise. A bit pricey for their food but overall good experience.
We came to this spot for a meeting. This spot was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was very successful. The staff welcomed us with a smile and we had a great feeling. The meal was delicious. We loved this place very much and we will visit this place again. Keep it up.
Best Korean bbq in Chicago we love that u get your own nook with grill on tableFood always AMAZING staff is AMAZING we go at least once a week.
Love Chicago Kalbi, every time we go it’s so good! Very authentic Korean BBQ, you won’t be disappointed from the food to the experience everything is good. Decent prices and really attentive staff. Happy to have such a good restaurant so close in the neighborhood!
The price. $19 bulgogi with 8 small slices of beef. $21 kalbi with another 8 pieces of beef. You can see how little meat they give, not even enough for 90 lb 16 yo daughter and thats saying something.
Gotta try it if it comes on your screen!
I certainly loved the food and service, great location nearby to where I live. The workers are always friendly. Will come visit again.
Excellent service and food. This restaurant is one of those hidden gems in Chicago. It has a real Japanese authenticity to it with just a little touch of the Korean flavor with side dishes. Also, if youre a baseball fan you can see the pictures of the players or teams thats been there. The players even signed a few baseball as well for customers to see while you wait to get seated. In my opinion, this restaurant is definitely one of the best Japanese BBQ spots in Chicago.

At the moment you come to this place they give you an agreeable feeling. Very comfortable team, it is a friendly place to pass time with friends or with your date. tasty cuisine, professional chef de cuisine, honest pay and excellent service. Warmly recommended.
The food is always well prepared and delicious, workers provides fantastic customer service. I like how neat it is and ambience. Will visit here again.
This is the best Korean BBQ in Chicago. The pork cheek has so much flavor, the Kobe beef melts in your mouth. Im not sure I can go anywhere else for Korean BBQ after eating here!
This place clearly knows how to serve their clients. Always with a super friendly approach. The food is fairly priced, always tasty and neat.
Expensive but good
This place is a wonderfully, homey Korean BBQ place. The decor of baseball memorabilia is pretty cool. The owner is super sweet and gladly took a shot of soju with us! The kalbi and tongue were particularly my favorites for their taste and tenderness. Honestly, I will always come back because of the sweet owner. This place offers a very relaxed, homey vibe with delicious food.
The worst Korean bbq restaurant in Chicago
Came with a group of 6 people and absolutely loved it. Service was great we got our own little room which made the experience that much better. Definitely recommend this place. Just dont be stuck being the cook like me !!
This place knows how to treat their customers. Constantly with a very welcoming approach. The food is reasonably priced, always flavorful and neat.
This spot is worth a try. They serve big portions for convenient prices. Consistently well kept and with great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
My top place for tasty Korean BBQ. Entered near nine, it wasnt busy. The bill was well within reason for the quality. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I liked to visit.
1st time & lived in the neighborhood for a while. I cant believe I never stopped by, highly recommend! Customer Service is above and beyond, smiling people and happy, this is what makes one return due to the positive energy! Food taste is great! I would for sure come back and continue to do so! Keep Up The Great Job & Friendly Environment!
I always come by purchasing some food in this spot. I enjoy the quick service and well prepared dishes. Great work.
Staff is very professional, top notch service. All food is delicious, and beautiful. Once I walk in the door, Im transported back to Japan, to the excellent Korean BBQ restaurants they had there.
Chicken was absolutely delicious! Not a super huge serving but if you are with other people the food starts to add up! Service is incredible and everyone here is super nice and friendly! Will definately coming back!
Very small portions considering their prices. I ordered a regular adult portion for my 5 years old daughter and she was still hungry. This is ridiculous. The food was good, I would give 3 stars out of 5. I would definitely NOT go there again.
Love this place! Great experience and great food, but the best part is the owner, who seems to remember every returning guest by name. You will feel welcome whether its your first visit or your 40th. Great food prepared the way you want, in a manner youll remember.
(03/18/2011) I made reservations and spoke to a lady a week before for my birthday dinner. Everything was confirmed. When that time and day came, they told us that they have never made reservations with me before nor did they have a room for us. I was furious, of course. Who wouldnt be?!! Minutes later, a party left and they told us this wonderful news. We got our own room, ordered food, ate food, and had a wonderful time. I warn you though, this place is really really expensive~!! We grilled our own meats but we only got 4-5 side dishes. Their vents sucks! I went here twice and the air is very smoky. My eyes started to water and it felt like I was next to someone cutting onions. I wouldnt come back again.
They offer an awesome variety of fresh food. I enjoyed dining here. Staff members are always nice, rates are fair and the spot is always clean.
Had a good experience in here with my daughter. The food comes rapidly and the service is just awesome. Prices are fair.
This place is worth giving a shot. They serve large portions for reasonable prices. Regularly clean and with great character. Will visit here again.
I am a huge patron of korean bbq places and by far this is the highest quality meat and flavor. The sides are flavorful and not just salty. Atmospehere has a very homey feel to it. A bit on the pricier end but worth it if celebrating a special occasion. Will definitely recommend and return to.
Great atmosphere, the menu is English and Japanese even though its Korean barbecue. The setting looks Japanese too. I liked the kalbi and bulgogi.
So far the best Korean BBQ experience Ive had in Chicago. The green tea ice cream is the greatest tasting dessert Ive had at any restaurant period. Also bonus that this place is open late. Love it, will be coming back again and again.
Its not full on Korean food as you would think by the name. Menu does not describes on what u buying. Portions were little. Prices were to much for what they offered. I have been to many Korean restaurants and payed same for twice to tree time portion. Also for some reason they dont like to split checks. If u come with group of people prepare to pay as one bill. Not so sure why people have this place rated so high. I guess if u new to this kind of food. Me and my friends didnt cared much for it.
Great atmosphere and even better food! The staff are very friendly and helpful and they are very fast! Had a great first visit, and I would surely come back in the future.
First time going to this place, i would say its the best Korean BBQ that i have ever eat...good and fresh foods especially very good service... The staffs here are very professional and very friendly...highly recommended!!
Chicago Kalbi is Da BOMB! The quality of meat is top notch. They even have American Kobe if you want to splurge. The service is always great. The owners are super friendly and make sure that you are taken care of. Besides the BBQ, I love their green salad. I dont think a lot of people know about it, but the dressing might be my favorite on the planet. Dont forget to get their fruit sorbets for dessert. No lie, I frequently get 1 of each flavor, lemon, pineapple, coconut, and mango, even though Im really freaking full! Love it! Ive been going here for years and it has NEVER disappointed.
Food is really good. Quality is great 👌 Omg the staff is so nice 😊 Love this place. Went there after a concert best food.
Went there because we heard of it on TV, so we gave it a try, the mistake we made was not making a reservation. They were very busy, this Korean restaurant brings a small grill to your table and you grill your own meat, beef, chicken, pork its fantastic comes with all the Korean sides kimchi, bean sprouts, and other spicy sides, and rice. Make sure you know how to use chop sticks, but they will happily give you a fork and knife, enjoy it is a very nice place to go to. 👍👍👍
Unbeatable services. Make sure you try their appetizers (they are more like Izakaya in that regard) before diving into the grilled items which focus on quality rather than quantity, you wont be disappointed. Dont miss out on the Sapporo on tab! One of few grandfathered in place that still serves charcoal grills!!
Always have a nice time when we go here. Good meat and fun atmosphere. A modern facelift would be so nice. But still 5 stars because the service and food are sufficient.
Always great food in a cool spot. Owners and staff are always very welcoming and accommodating.
Best Japanese style Korean bbq. Never disappointed. Beef tongue, wagyu, kara age, tororo yuke, ect. Taste just like what you get in Japan.
They actually charge to fill per side dish without telling me. I never been to korean place that charge for refills. The portion of the meat is really small so expect to order alot if you really hungry. You order dinner for two and it was barely enough for one. The taste is just decent. Never coming back again. Such a rip.
I was in the area and craving korean. So my phone shows this is the closest. The workers were very nice. The food was overpriced and portions were too small. Food was overall okay. Theres so many korean bbq places in the city that are much better. I personally wouldnt go back.
The food is outstanding but the owners are incredible.Thank you so much for making us feel like family.
If you dont give this play 5 stars idfwu.
First time Korean BBQ experience. Cant wait to go back.
Walked in and was immediately seated. Staff was very friendly and youll notice A LOT of baseball memorabilia. You can tell the owners are big fans. We ordered some stuff to grill - a little on the pricey side but the meat was high quality and the sides that came with it were very good too, even the miso was the best Ive tried around. They also use charcoal in their grill, so its not just some flames underneath a metal plate. Ended up leaving very full and satisfied, definitely got my moneys worth and I hope to come back soon.Street parking wasnt difficult to find too, but my visit was also late at night.
The food here is very authentic, and the employees are incredibly friendly. I will definitely be back everytime Im missing Asia.
Amazing service, incredible tasting meat - so tender! All the sides are unique and you should try each one on its own at first. We would definitely be back!Side note : we ordered the prime ribeye kobe beef and went around 10:30 on a Friday
My favorite Korean BBQ in Chicago. They give a lot of meat for the price. Service is very good, the staff are really friendly. We had the Korean-style kalbi and bulgogi, both were excellent. Comes with sides, rice, and miso soup, plenty of food for two people.
Been in Chicago as a tourist for 4 days and went to many restaurant but this is the first place I received a warm greeting, friendly smiles, and excellent services. Good BBQ overall.
Very nice Korean restaurant with lunch specials and great service.
Best restaurant in chicago no one knows about. Been coming here forever and brought countless friends. Must try A5 wagyu from japan. Short rib and prime rib.
Private booths are nice for groups. Wait was long on an early Saturday evening. Portions are a bit small. Crowded layout.
Instantly fell in love with this place. It has a very homey feel and this place has fantastic Japanese and Korean dishes, drinks, and bbq. The staff/service here are super friendly and welcoming. Im actually sad that I dont live in Chicago, otherwise I would absolutely frequent this place. THANK YOU, KALBI!
Friendly staff. Food is okay. This is almost like Japanese style BBQ with korean side dishes.Wait time is really long especially on weekends.
