I learned on site that my air filter was compromised with motor oil, needed a new spark plug and oil change. The services were completed in one day. Brought my leaking snowblower in yesterday. It has had a persistent leak ever since it was returned to me by another guy I paid to give it a tuneup almost 3 years ago. Steve, at Chicago Lawn Mower, shared his thoughts with me where he thought it might be coming from. He had one of his guys remove the panels and tighten a secondary oil cap that’s buried in the snowblower. He put it back together, topped it off with oil and didn’t charge me a cent. Guess what…after 3 years it appears the leak is FINALLY fixed. I will never take my snowblower anywhere else. Top notch guys here.

TOP NOTCH REPAIR SERVICE.Took my ten year craftsman in for a drive handle, they dont carry craftsman parts, joey found a used one from a different machine . could not warranty it, i was gratfull. lasted all summer. it finnaly broke, purchased the correct part and they installed it for me along with a sharpening at a very reasonable price. I also have a toro snow blower i purchased from them. Steve and Joey are great go work with.I would highly recommend this place.

I had the wrong blade and lost a couple bolts (probably because the wrong blade was on.) I got used bolts and a new blade and my mower runs great. So glad I went here instead of fumbling around at Home Depot.

I bought our snowblower from Steven at Chicago Lawn Mower. I cant say enough about the service I received. He was quick, polite, and fixed the issue. I highly recommend Steven and his company.

Honestly they dont even deserve one star. Avoid this place.I talked to a guy on the phone and he was very nice. When I finally arrived at the store I told them about the broken starter cord. The guy quickly told me it will be $120. I asked him why, he said without looking at the lawn mover that it needs a tune up and started cord. He could have told me the same thing on the phone.Anyway I had him install the start cord and avoided the tune up. I told him the reason why I didnt want to spend $100 is because the lawn mover itself is $200. I paid $20 and the owner (old guy) told me if I am buying a new one he can buy my lawn mover for $15. Imagine I just paid $20 for the cord and he is asking me to sell him for $15.Rude, Fraud and crooks. I would not recommend my friends or family to go to this place.-------------------_________________------------------Reply to owners response.The reason why I said old guy is not to be rude or insult anyone but I wrote it because I talked to 3 people and the older gentleman who was rude and insulting.He kept saying guy doesnt want to spend moneyHe didnt mention anything about recycling.After I paid $20 and told him I dont want to spend $100 on tuneup for a $200 new lawnmower, he told me he would buy mine for $15. I was so fortunate to have the folks at Clark-Devon Hardware refer me to Chicago Lawn Mower. They found me replacement rear wheels for my older Craftsman mower--even though Craftsman no longer makes the rear wheels. I really appreciate their help!

Buying a mower or snow thrower from a big box store will give you nothing but regrets. This an iconic, olde school, small engine repair and sales shop. No frills complete with the smell of fresh gasoline. I have been going here since 79. I have purchased five machines both new and used plus countless oddball repair parts and service. Glad they are still going strong.

I just called Chicago Lawn Mower to order a replacement part for my Toro electric snowblower. They were super helpful/responsive and figured out a total McGuyver workaround over the phone which allowed me to get the snowblower restarted in the meantime while I wait for the replacement part. 1/23/21 Great experience today at Chicago Lawn Mower/Show Blower on W. Montrose. My Toro snow blower wouldnt start. Steve diagnosed my problem: I had not fully emptied out the gas in the spring. This caused the carburetor to malfunction. He explained that its best to run the machine until it stops to make sure the gas tank is completely empty. Good to know.In less than 15 minutes, the snow blower was cleaned, carburetor flushed and some new gas added. Not only does it run beautifully, it looks brand new!I have used this shop several times before, In fact, I exchanged my old snow blower for the one I have now. They sell new and used machines and do the service there as well. Its a small family owned shop. What an fabulous crew! I just got back from Chicago Lawn Mower. Local business had drive cable for 10year old snow blower. I walked in a 5 pm (their closing time) and didnt have my model number. Just year and type of blower. Guy said that they will be open til 6pm and that he wouldnt close until I got back. Seemed like a family operation as there were youngsters helping with out going mail orders. They were all helping dozens of folks past quiting time in the middle of a blizzard and crushing beers (it was happy hour) whilst doing it. Awesome. My next Major snowblower purchase is definitely going to go to Chicago Lawn Mower. I’ll pay a bit more than on Amazon, but I’ll negotiate a beer in the deal!

I needed a belt and a piece to hold my transmission cable in place. They had both in arms reach. Nice use of time, one stop shop. Reasonably priced as well. They even have a parking spot to drop your blower in for service. Or they can sell you a used one cheap.

They had already done a great job getting my 16 year old snow blower running again after not being used for a few years, it came back looking practically new! When my wheel came off after the heavy snow a few weeks back I knew that I needed a small $2 push nut to reattach. Went to them hoping he had the part. They did and just gave me 2 of them no charge!

The best. Bought a snow blower yesterday, went hard with it for a whole day broke the belt. Took it back the next day they were going to fix the belt no problem but I actually wanted a beefier model so they took my broken one back and I paid the difference for the larger model and I was on my way. Super happy, nice. Might need an answering service or more phones during snow storms haha. Overall great people and they have what you need for all plow purposes.

I needed a new scraper blade and possibly a carburetor or fuel filter for my Honda snowblower. I knew they’d be busy after this last big snow and kept getting busy signal when I tried calling, so I loaded it in the truck just in case. I told the guy what I thought the problem was, and mentioned that I had it with me. He asked me to see it and he immediately recognized there was a gasket missing from the underside of the gas cap. He had the gas cap and the scraper blade both in stock. It was totally worth the long drive. Thank you Chicago Lawn Mower!!!

I had a reconditioned snow blower that I bought there many years ago. The pullcord tore. I bought a reconditioned electric start one from them a couple days ago, and sold them my old one. VERY VERY fair prices, honest, great people. In a major snow as we had, too many people gouge prices, NOT THEM, they are terrific to deal with.

Took my dads old craftsman snowblower to the guys at Chicago Lawn Mower on Wednesday afternoon. Spoke with a young gentleman about getting the snowblower looked at. They were pretty busy that day due to the second heaviest snowstorm of the year. Customers were in and out of the place with their snowblowers. The young man recommended what needed to be done. No oversell, no gloom and doom. He did mention that the turnaround time was 4 to 5 days. I hesitantly agreed to the service but in the back of my mind I thought it might take longer and my dad, who isnt as spry as he once was, would be forced to shovel his sidewalk manually. 48 hours later, I got a message that the blower was ready for pickup. Went to their place Saturday morning, picked up the blower and even got a quick tutorial on how to properly start and maintain said blower by the same young man. Great service! Sometimes even when prices are reasonable, businesses gain customers and catapult themselves over the competition simply by customer engagement and going above and beyond. Lawn mower blade vs. parkway water shutoff cap: 0-1. Bringing the mower over on a Saturday about an hour before closing, I was expecting Id just have to drop it off. But they quickly took a look at it, replaced the blade and I was back in action. Very fair and friendly. Ive always had good experiences here.

If it wasnt for Chicago Lawn Mower, Inc., my brand new Snapper Snow Blower would be in the trash. I purchased a Snapper Snow Blower from Menards and after 15 minutes of use it failed. I couldnt return it to Menards because it had gas in it, they referred me to a few local Snapper Dealers, like Russos but they arent Snapper Dealers they are Briggs and Stratton Dealers so I would have had to pay to fix the auger. I called Snapper direct and they sent me down the same road to the same dealers. What? Im fortunate to have found these guys. Moral of the story, purchase your power equipment form a reputable local dealer rather than a box house or you might get stuck with a brand new product that doesnt work! Thanks for saving me.

My Toro snowblower sheared off the main drive tooth of its rotor pully yesterday during the huge snowstorm. I disassembled the rotor and brought in the pieces that needed to be replaced today. There was a line of about 6 people when I got there, but they moved through quickly, and got me the rotor, pully, and belt that I needed and I was on my way!When they are busy, they cant answer the phone, but they are open and working during the posted times.

What a selection... their website does not do their inventory justice. I went in with a certain budget to buy a snowblower and Steve the owner not only found me a machine more suited to my needs, but I actually spent less for a refurbished walk behind snowblower...I highly recommend coming here for your next purchase

I would give them - starts if I could! I ordered parts form them which I never received. I tried to call them at least 60 times and they never answered the phone. I finally contacted them through Facebook and got the owner to call me, He was very rude and after briefly trying to help me basically told me to go to hell. I wouldnt do business with them again if they were the last 0lace on earth and would advise everyone else to avoid them also.

This place is great! I live in the northwest suburbs and drive 50 minutes to get there. they always have the parts i need in stock, and I am in and out quickly huge inventory. Looks like a great place for service also a guy came in with a non running lawnmower they fixed it in minutes and I dont think they even charged him! reminds of the old days when the customers were valued and your business is appreciated. Steve is great knows the part that you need without looking it up in the computer.
