I brought in a chrome lamp that my parents bought in the 70s. The gentleman immediately knew the designer and details about the lamps design, even accurately guessing how my parents purchased it---via a decorator. He diagnosed and fixed it within 10 minutes and the repair was reasonably priced. I was impressed with his knowledge and the good service. I will return. Highly recommended!

A Chicago jewel. These folks are gurus on everything having to do with lamps and lampshades. Repairs and custom design, recovering shades to new shades. Unobtrusive advice. At the corner of Elston and Belmont; entrance to free parking and shop off of Belmont.

The young man at the desk was very helpful in answering the questions we had and showing us available options, but the old man/woman were very rude. They also kept suggesting to look online at other shops, so while my partner and I were on our phone looking at the sites they were suggesting so we could compare with the items they had available in store, the older two kept coming up to us asking questions and saying strange things - “can we help you find anything or are you just taking up space?”, “We are going to charge you rent” “Yea, well good luck(?)” - all this while very well knowing that we were looking at the sites they recommended. Made us feel very uncomfortable, unwelcome, and honestly discriminated. So much for trying to do our part and support a local business.

This is a fabulous place for lamp repair and replacement shades. The best of all is they custom made a lamp shade for me that was damaged in a move. They hand craft their shades and the outcome was beyond my expectations. I recommend this shoppe without reservation, and plan to return anytime I need the types of service they provide. I see other reviews about grumpy proprietors - ignore them - all employees are fantastic and were more than friendly. Love this place.

Excellent job, helpful staff

They refurbished a chandelier and did a beautiful job. They also mounted two lamps on replacement pedestals and rewired them. The lamps are gorgeous. I bought two shades for the lamps and they are perfect. I highly recommend them.

The old man is very rude and shades are way over priced. I went to another Lamp shades store in Palatine because I was in the area and prices were outstanding compared to this place. Rude and over priced, no thanks.

Just had my parents (now deceased) Vintage Frederick Cooper lamps re-wired. I like them so much, I took moms chandelier in to change it from hard wired to swag. Now I can use the chandelier that has been packed away for ages.Ive only been in 2 or 3 times, but this place is exceptional. It so reminds me of Chicago businesses during my childhood. (70s & 80s). Great customer service... Im only in my mid 40s, but I can imagine this as a place old light fixtures like to hang out. Yeah, I can visualize a bunch of old grizzly Bears fans sitting under the twinkling of chandelier glass shooting the breeze.

Quality, craftsmanship and customer service is outstanding. I love flea market (Murano from Florence, Italy) finds which they transform to beautiful as well as functioning statement pieces. They also sell items, so while I pick-up a piece, I see gorgeous lamps and fixtures for sale. I bought a 1940 Scottish Terrier desk lamp that had been in the series Chicago PD. Its a gem. Highly recommend but be patient.

I had a dining room fixture that needed rewiring. Brian repaired it on the spot. Completed the job in about 10 minutes. Didnt need rewiring, he said only needed wire connections reworked. Love the service!

I love this store. My mother and I have shopped here for lamp shades for years. They are very helpful and know how to choose just the right shade for your particular lamp. I have a lot of lamps that are vintage/antique, and they find a shade that works for the time-period. I have had old lamps I found at antique sales, garage sales, etc. re-wired here.

Just didnt feel like the guy who was a repair person listened (or didnt want my business) to what I was saying and theres a nice lady who works there who actually listened and the gentleman just cut her off from assisting me with the issue I was having with my lighting fixture. Needless to say I will not be giving them any business.

They have beautiful things and the prices are on par with others. However, the older staff/owners are quite crabby......and a little terse.... Be warned.

They completely redid two chandeliers that had been neglected, badly,they have done repairs on a standing lamp that is unusual and rare. They have supplied us with innumerable fixtures, and supplies. They are fabulous and for over 30 years they have done incredible work. I cannot praise them enough!

Reasonably priced, professional without being characterless, excellent selection of antique and vintage lighting. Worth periodically popping in.
