Nice diversity in exhibits. Beautiful building and interior design. They switch art collection very often so go often you will be surprised. Sometimes it might not be your taste but still fun to check out new trends and artist. Theres a cute cafe on the basement as well serve pretty good coffee. Farmers Market out front on the Tuesday mornings but they arent allowed dogs to go into the farmers market! That was a bit disappointed. Love the Tuesday night Jazz, ordered a wine or beer and cheese and sit on the lawn. I saw people bring their own picnic basket too. a wonderful way to enjoy Chicago summer!

They have a comics of Chicago exhibition running. It was interesting as it showed the comic topics through the ages . The main gallery is on third floor. There is a small gallery on second. On the first floor the gallery is almost as big as third. A Pakistani artist, Rana Abidi, was on display here, her exhibition was the best. It had letters from WW I showing how the war affected the Indians, with a haunting soundtrack. A mosaic of hand gestures of leaders of Pakistan across history, journalists that disappeared. They also have a shop and host private events as well

Most of the art is way too conceptual or pretty much ready-made. I just can’t appreciate the art that wasn’t technically skilled. Some of the stuff I felt I could have found on my work site like the rolled up clay that was driven over or the one room where they cut into the dry wall.

We saw a lot of interesting contemporary art pieces. There were videos of people doing an interpretive dance, indigenous art work, and a lot of art work by women and people of color. I learned a lot today about contemporary art. My favorite art work that I saw today was by Velazquez, who anthropomorphized landscape and other living things.Of note, the website lists suggested admission prices but you actually have to pay that amount. It’s not like a suggested donation. Only people 18 and under get to go to the museum for free.

Museum was a disappointment. Had a few exhibits, but I don’t feel like it was worth the money. I spent maybe 30 minutes and saw the whole thing. The best part about this museum is the gift shop, which I highly recommend if you’re looking for a neat gift.

The contemporary art museum was definitely fun. I went around maybe like 3:30 4:00 and it wasnt too busy it was easy to get around. There was three floors of different types of artwork some better than others. However I find that I and more of a fine arts guy, but the contemporary arts was good for what it was. The cost wasnt too bad. I felt like I was helping contribute to art and hope others can come and see and enjoy other peoples visions.

I think this overrated, it was not that large museum and had small exhibits. I liked only one of them. It is divided in four floors that are really small and you have to use the stairs or elevators from floor to floor. The store was really expensive with 60 dollars t-shirts.For those with younger kids there is a nice playground across the street. I for those visiting in early morning there is a wildberry restaurant nearby.

As art lovers we do our best to visit art museums when possible. The MCA met beyond our expectations! Greeted by the super friendly staff we were excited to explore. The museum itself is so carefully and beautifully put together. In expensive at $15 pp or $8 for students. The commons was a great area to sit relax and feel inspired. We started at the bottom worked our way up. There wasn’t one exhibit we didn’t love. At the time Howardena was showing and her work is so powerful. A must see!

I believe this museum would normally get 5 stars, however because of Covid it feels disjointed and inaccessible in many areas. I realize art is subjective, and Im a formally trained artist myself, but many of the pieces felt soulless and were simply there to fill space. The building and grounds are beautiful and some of the art was powerful. I feel like the jury process was erroneous though when choosing subject matter.

Nevertheless, I was greeted by the representative Daniel at the front desk who helped me set up a membership… Daniel informed me of the reciprocal benefits the museum offers and I am so happy that I am able to take my friend membership to other museums around the country. It was very easy to pre-purchase tickets online and then have the code on our phone scanned for entry. The price is very fair and you can donate more to support the arts. I was not expecting so many stairs to see the exhibits but there is a elevator should you need it. My husband really enjoyed the Christina Quarles exhibit which is on until Sep 5, 21. As we have recently started acrylic painting it was interesting to see the techniques apart from the subject matter. Plenty of space you you can enjoy closely or from a distance to take it all in. Carolina Caycedo : From the Bottom of the River, left an impression with us and I liked the two little media rooms on the sides of the main exhibit. The Emerge Selection, Unfinished Business and Dependent Objects got us talking. Omar Velazquez bright works were inspiring. The humor of Orkideh Torabi was amusing and I liked the moustache on the cat, in her Turkish Bathhouse atrium project. My favourite on this visit was From the Tropics with Love by Pedro y Juana. It was raining so we didnt go out on the terrace. Overall an enjoyable way to spend some time viewing art together, pushing our boundaries of what is art and opening up some great discussions. The gift shop is wonderful and has an amazing array of options for gifts of all kinds, make sure to check it out before you leave.

Absolutely stunning museum of contemporary art that rivals any modern art museum anywhere in the world. As someone who loves art that is forward thinking and challenges the de facto boundaries set by the past, this place meets and far exceeds expectations. Featuring the works of many well-known artists and many more less known artists, a large diversity in pieces from size to medium is incorporated. The exhibition seems small at first glance but to truly appreciate all of the works inside, the space is deceptively large and can take quite some time to explore every work to its fullest extent. Many pieces are quite tall so are housed in the main exhibition space which contains a vaulted ceiling that seemingly goes on forever. Its a lovely space to behold and the free space located on the first floor at the opposite end of the main entrance is truly a beautiful sight to behold. Centrally located with friendly staff and inexpensive entry tickets, come check this place out!

The individual pieces were good but the way the art and space was organized really took away from the experience. On top of that, the side placards were some of the worst descriptions Ive ever read of art (Ive visited museums throughout the country just so you know I have a wide ranged sample here). Just save yourself and dont read them. I apologize to the museum curator for being rude here but you need to think a little bit more. I am not trained in museum curation but the organization here was bad enough that it impacted how I experienced every piece of art there. The literal only exception to this was the sulfur plywood exhibit (the piece was interesting and the description and organization of the space was great).
