I was looking for a gift to give and since some of the Vinyls I was looking for were older, we stopped by here. They have a large selection of records and once I left I remember another record I wanted to get, I called and I was able to put on hold for seven days. I picked up the record in two days and I was in and out the second time. Large selection of pre owned records as well as new releases. Will come back.

Sell them your stuff! Temper expectations unless you’re selling rarer items or more desirable (see trendy formats) stuff like vinyl, books….

This place is so cool. I went in to meet a friend and I definitely want to come back! Theres good deals on records and movies. Looked busy so there must have been some good things there.Also, when you walk in theyre a big display of pins that are all perfect for your backpack or jean jacket.

They helped me find a record that Ive searched months for. Incredibly nice people and I am super thankful. The record was also NM and almost 30% cheaper than I couldve found it online. Just overall great experience with them.

Ive never been to any of their brick and mortar locations, but ordering online from their website is such a joke! Why advertise items in stock which you cannot truly fulfill? I know Im not the only customer to be impacted by these pitfalls. I should have done more research and I would have known I was rolling the dice. Get your inventory issues figured out Reckless!

I ordered the Eric Church Heart CD so I could get the limited poster. The shop ran out of CDs, but held a poster for me until the CDs were back in stock. They emailed and explained everything to me and were super accommodating. Im from out of state, so this was a great virtual experience. I plan on visiting CHI later this year and cant wait to stop in to the shop in person. Thanks guys!

Unorganized, messy, disappointing. The selection for punk records sucks. Hardly any big Chicago punk bands in stock (Screeching Weasel, Alkaline Trio, Sludgeworth, Lawrence Arms, Smocking Popes, etc.). Glad I went to say I did, but, unfortunately, I dont feel the need to go back any time soon.

Reckless is a great place to shop for your music. They sell a lot of new records cheaper than youll find them online, they have a good selection, and they have plenty of inexpensive used records too.They also treat their customers well. Ive returned defective records here with no issues, including one used record that they were nice enough to find another copy of for me. Be respectful to the people working here, and you can expect that they will treat you with respect as well.

I have to say, this place does not disappoint, for the most part. The sales staff is pretty knowledgable. The selection is right up there. The prices are fair. Its one of my regular stops when Im in the area. The store is easy to navigate. Its usually pretty well organized. They offer plenty of $1 bargains. Parking is a nightmare as this is Wicker Park, but if you find a legal spot, take it and plan on spending some time going through this establishment. Ive been to both side of this shared pond record store and they just set the standards for what a record store should be.

Nice big shop. Vinyl, CD, cassette, laserdisc, and books. Didnt have everything I was looking for but its a huge selection.

Their service was great. The records are so diverse and the music that is played while you browse it awesome.

A hidden gem palaceIn the few times Ive been in since moving to the City, Ive been able to dive deep into the underground and punk scenes of Chicago because of this spot. There are tons of CDs, Cassettes, and many records that will satisfy that itch weve all been needing with the lack of concerts.I particularly recommend the cassettes here if you are into thay kind of thing. They are super cheap and Ive gotten some great hard-core and underground hip-hop/noise albums from their selection.

I love reckless. When I need a new or old sound, they have it! Then if I need to sell records they really are awesome about trade in and cash value. What a tremendous business not in your face but if you need help the staff will always help. Not too cool for you. It’s a local and National treasure. Let’s go get reckless about the music we love!

Reckless record store is mainstay in the wicker park area I liked the old location Better .. But the new has a larger variety of used Cds vinyl and the like the workers are knowgleble .I did have my recordings in the old and new stores guitarjimbourke but no sale ..

So far i have visited 2 out of 3 Chicago locations (Belmont and Milwaukee), both are good size stores with ample selections.The important thing for my is that their rating system on Vinyl appears spot on. Why is this so important? Well i dont mind paying a premium for a Near Mint copy both then i expect it to be Near Mint. Online places such as Discogs have a lot of selection from sellers across the world but most of the time the vinyl condition is overstated.GO RECKLESS!!!!!!

Definitely some good finds here, and always some bargain titles that will surprise, but the layout is sloppy and disorganized. I not only browse in person but sometimes see a few titles on their website that I want to get, and can never find them. This is due to the CD cases not being on the shelves, making titles harder to find, as well as numerous customers putting back titles in any random spot they wish. Finding anything in this particular store is a pure feat. The Belmont location, while smaller, is so much more organized than this one. And, the staff is really the epitome of “couldn’t care less.”

Reckless has been in Chicago for a very long time and for good reason. They have an extensive selection of records from decades of music across many genres. There is lots of really great and sometimes rare stuff. The prices are about right - they range from somewhat high for the more desirable albums to fairly low (like $5) for some others. Even if youre not looking for something specific, its fun to browse through the racks and look at the cool album art.

Went to grab a couple stylus there a couple days ago. It was very busy but the staff took time to help me out and give recommendations about a few things. They were super helpful and knowledgeable. 5 stars for sure.

Ok selection and I walked away with a few albums but Im not a fan of having to take the jacket to the counter only to have a staff member get the actual album. If Im paying for a brand new album, I like to crack the seal myself. Peeling the plastic off a new record is one of lifes great pleasures.The staff although knowledgeable, was a little off-putting with the I could care less attitude.If youre looking for vintage rock, pop and jazz, check them out. For other genres, Id suggest look elsewhere.

Google keeps asking me if I like it here, so Im reviewing it to get it to shut up. I walk by a lot. Looks nice. Minimal smells. Only the one secret blood pact to get in. Would pass during my commute again.

A Chicago institution. The selection is always top-notch and its organized! I hate record stores where you cant find anything. However, that organization comes with a price, that is, the prices are a bit high, but not exorbitant.

Good store! Good selection, nice big shop, workers can be a bit snobby and rude sometimes, which makes it a bit awkward starting conversations, but no biggie. Easily accessible by bus and train, if youre a big hipster go for it, Belmont is probably my favorite though!
