I was in search of a new suit - specifically for attending a family wedding but also for business use. I wanted to use a local tailor capable of made-to-measure; after doing a good amount of online research I found Daniel George. I sent them an email to request an appointment, I remember it was a Sunday evening, Daniel got back to me within an hour. He asked some introductory questions about my current suits, preferences, etc. When I went to meet with Daniel, he took great care to show me wool swatches, inside lining samples, and talk about details. I had gone in with the mindset of a custom suit, but Daniel spent the time to have me try on an off-the-rack suit he had in the shop. He gave a very honest appraisal that the fit was quite good, and would require very little alteration. This was quite refreshing as there was absolutely no pressure toward the custom path, which has a price difference. I can tell he was interested in making sure I had a good buying experience and that his product would exemplify fit and quality, and not just make a sale. I did end up choosing the custom suit path, especially for the choices of linings. However, I would certainly return for the off-the-rack option since I know that may work well, a custom sport coat or blazer, or just another custom suit. This shop, Daniel, and his team are real professionals and it shows. Strongly recommend for gents to check this place out - especially if you want a quality garment and want to spend the $$ to get it right. One note, please understand that the custom suit does take time, budget about 6 weeks between the first meeting and measurements to final alterations and finished product.

Daniel and his team are great! I was looking for the best 3-piece suit for my wedding which I could use for work as well. I spoke with a few tailors in Chicago and felt most comfortable with Daniel. Working with him was a delight. He helped me make decisions when I felt stuck and listened to my concerns about fit and gave me exactly what I needed. Even after my wedding, Daniel helped me when I was concerned my suit was damaged by my dry cleaner. He took my jacket to his cleaner and had it back to me, good as new. I came to Daniel George for my wedding suit last year, and I was completely blown away by the service. I had just moved to Chicago for but my wedding was already planned for in California - long story short, I had a small window of time to work with, and he was able to accommodate my short timeframe. He even had the suit shipped to CA to prevent the typical creases that come from airplane travel from forming.Its attention to detail that truly sets Daniel George apart. He provides sound advice that highlights/balances the features of your body. Im athletic slim at 61 and 170 lbs with an 8in drop. It can be hard to find suits that fit perfectly off the rack, but its not terribly difficult to tailor a suit to my body. But there were little things like... roped shoulders to provide the appearance of slight wider build, or lapel width and notch height to emphasize the chest, or button stance to draw the suit in at the waist properly. He even adjusted for the difference in my shoulder heights to address not only the arm lengths but also a wrinkle in the drape along the left side of my torso. This was of course on top of all the typical flourishes like pick stitching, slanted piped pockets, ticket pocket, fancy linings, accent stitching, surgeons cuff with stacked buttons, pant tabs, etc.He also helped coordinate the colors of the suit to match the rest of the wedding. His taste is impeccable really. He chose a beautiful blue, that would not appear too dark in the brick/timber loft venue, with a very slight sheen (not obnoxiously in your face shiny) and a subtle green wefted in so that the the fabric had an added complexity in different lighting. The gold champagne tie he picked out perfectly matched the marsala and violet wedding colors. Also, he didnt forget to recommend a slightly off-white shirt so I wouldnt compete with the bride.I honestly cannot recommend Daniel George enough. People may think that it is easy to find slim fit suits, but many of these suits end up giving the illusion of someone of slight build. Daniel Georges suits do the opposite - they emphasize your presence.Also, he served me a glass of Angels Envy. Classy!

I have been a client of Daniel George for 5 years and in that time he has transformed my wardrobe from basic, mundane, off-the-rack clothing to vibrant, exceptional, custom fit clothes that you will never get in department stores. I cannot express enough how great my experience was throughout the entire process from selecting materials, being fitted, and the final product. These are the best suits I’ve ever owned. I now have 3 Daniel George suits and the craftsmanship is absolutely incredible. All 3 are blue, yet each one is so distinctive and has so much character because of the details Daniel works in. I typically go with blue suits and white/blue shirts. Daniel will let you stay in your comfort zone if you want, but he’s also very good at knowing what will work well with your body type and your style that you wouldn’t normally pick out for yourself. I also have a handful of shirts and ties from DG and they’re head and shoulders above any other dress shirts I’ve had in the past. His clothes make you look like the best version of yourself. If you’re looking for custom suits & shirts, I’d put Daniel up against the best in the world.

Daniel George is the best place to go to purchase custom garments. The detailing and quality is well worth the price. I purchased my first suit with Daniel in his showroom which was fantastic. Recently I have purchased more garments from out of state since I am no longer around the Chicago area and the experience was just amazing. Daniel makes great suggestions on fabric choices and makes sure all your garments fit after you have received them.

I’ve used DG exclusively for the past 2+ year after trying many different tailors including all the typical online vendors. Update (11/8/2012)After purchasing my first suit from Daniel and landing a job after wearing it to my interview I have recommended him to all of my friends and family and will continue to do so. Also I ended up buying myself an awesome looking sports coat that Daniel did an amazing job on. I plan on buying the rest of my formal clothing from Daniel and hope to get a custom winter coat in the near future.Final thoughts: if you’re curious about him schedule an appointment and go meet him. He is a fantastic tailor and an even better person. He took the time out of his day the last time I was there to walk me back down to the lobby to meet my wife and kids as my oldest has autism and doesn’t do elevators.I had my first fitting with Daniel 10/8/16 and it was the best clothing experience of my life. I brought the suit with me that I was going to have to wear to an interview the following week, it was an awful suit. However, fortunately for me Daniel had a suit that was almost exactly my size that someone had returned and sold it to me for cost. I wore the suit to my interview and 2 days later received the job offer. Daniel was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and funny. My parents went with me to my fitting and my dad liked his stuff so much he bought a new leather jacket and plans to get his next suit from Daniel as well. My 100% custom suit should be ready in a few weeks and I am counting the days. I have never had a suit that fits the way his clothing does. I was in need of a new suit for my sons wedding and was tired of the same poor fitting, poor quality offerings from the big retailers. Daniel made my wedding suit four years ago, and Ill be a customer for life. Recently, I requested some dress shirts with holes in the collar for a collar bar or pin. Though hes never been asked for such a shirt, Daniel was anxious to fulfill the order. Daniel had my measurements from the wedding shirts, so the only thing left was to pick colors. When the first shirt arrived, of course the fit was spot-on, and the collar is incredible and really stands out! This extra detail is the envy of my friends!

The key difference with Daniel George is I meet directly with Daniel each time Ive been to other custom shops in the past where Ive met with sales people and didnt feel I was being properly advised.
