Im just going to give this place five stars because Im just tired of Google asking me to write a review for places that Ive never been to. This place is right next to my sons school so it shows up on Google and for some parent reason Google thinks Ive been here so I just going to give it five stars and say yeah its a great place. I see a lot of boats every single day. I think its a mechanic place for boats cuz a lot of noise goes on over there. So if you have boat trouble Im guessing this is the place you can go. I dont have a boat. Im too poor to have a boat. I would love a boat. If I had a boat I would probably take it here since its the only boat place Ive seen that fixes them. So come on down this is the greatest place for all your boat troubles and needs.
Definitely would recommend Gulf Marine of Clearwater to anyone and everyone. From the day I contacted them to the day I picked up my trailer, I was impressed with the level of customer service. I called multiple places to find a trailer after mine was stolen and they had what I needed in stock and for a better price than anywhere else I found. Friendly/professional staff. Literally each employee approached me, introduced themselves and helped me through the whole process. Definitely the place to go for boat trailers and Im sure any other service they offer would be the same. Thanks Gionna for all your help!
Great friendly staff. Had new throttle and cables installed. Works great. Reasonable price. Would recommend this place.
Worst business I’ve ever patronized. Won’t accept credit cards, cash in advance only. Gave estimate of $5000 to $10,000. No paperwork as to what they would be fixing. Never gave estimate to repair trailer, then charged $50 storage fee for short term storage after I hooked up the trailer..... only accepts cash so I had to unhook trailer get cash to pay.... they, at first refused to put motors back in the towing upright position until I pitched a fit.
Very friendly, reasonable pricing. Excellent service.
They did a gel coat repair job it was so good I couldnt even tell where the repair was matched perfectly I highly recommend this shop for any fiberglass repair!
Went in for a Trailer. And was Quoted 250 for detail. They charged me 70 dollars for removing rails and 70 to replace. Without knowing. Stripped screws. Changed a Trim Soliniod and they bypassed my gage. It was working. Another 500 $ to have that fixed. Trailer was good. But damage to my Checkmate is unacceptable.
You really cant do better in terms of value, integrity and customer service than the incredible care Gulf Marine takes of its customers. Its hard to find businesses that offer old fashioned service like this in any category but for some reason it seems even more difficult when the service involves boats. Gulf Marine have never let me down can I only offer tremendous thanks to both Charlie and Nicky for everything theyve done.
All I needed done was my motor taken off and reinstalled once my transom was fixed. They are so backed up and understaffed that it took them a cumulative 4 months to do so, 1 to take it off and 3 to reinstall. On top of that the motor, which was working perfect before I gave to them, is now troubled and there’s no chance I’m missing more fishing by taking it back to them again. It broke down my first trip out and they charged me $200 when I took it back to them saying it wasn’t their fault that the wiring wasn’t connected right. Another 4 weeks in their shop after that and they broke my trailer light. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Nice staff but unfortunately not quality work or service.
I was having ignition problems on an older Evinrude outboard and after talking with them on the phone was pretty confident they were very familiar with these motors. They were able to troubleshoot a very tricky problem and repair everything 100%. The staff here is top notch, they really know their stuff and provide quality service. I appreciate that they explained and showed me everything they did. Dont let the mess at their shop turn you off, theyre still in the process of moving. Pricing was reasonable for the work they did and the service was outstanding. They even cleaned my boat after it had been sitting outside. Thanks again, will be back!
Super friendly and down to earth. Working on getting my 28hp up an running. Nicky took the time to chat about my problem, and helped me solve it in the best way possible. With them being just around the corner in Clearwater, it’s my new boat shop for sure.
Super nice and honest staff.
Great service, great price pleasure doing business with
These are some of the Greatist People you will ever want to do buisness with... They make ya want a come back for more... You will appreciate there Great Service... Jimbo Brown.....
Great staff, super friendly and helpful. Would strongly recommend their business for anyone in the boating community.
These guys are top notch! Great honest business people who gave me quality service and great pricing. Doesnt get any better than this.
The experience was terrible. They had the boat for over 3 months. When we picked up the boat the wiring and covers were not in place. After spending over 1,500. Our boat came back to us worse than when we brought it in. We had to spend $500 for a new throttle because the messed up the perfectly good one that was there They were always making excuses it was clear whoever worked on the boat didn’t know what they were doing. Do not take your boat there. You will be sorry Charlie seemed nice but full of excuses and deception. Terrible business.
I should have wrote this review months ago, but these guys took over my boat as I personally felt I was being taken advantageBy another mechanic. Charlie, nikky and Nguu were beyond. Professional, prompt and to me.rhe most important was they explained everything to me very thoroughly. I never felt taken advantage of or like I didnt know anything.charlie even took me out to make sure boat sounded and ran great from their work! These guys went above and beyond and I can honestly say DO NOT listen to any of the low rated reviews.I will continue using these guys with anything my boat needs in the future. I know a newer engine will be something I need in the near future and these guys will definitely be installing that when the time comes !!
Had some issues with a motor over on the west coast of Florida and nick and Charlie helped me brainstorm and understand everything that was going on, at no charge! In the boating world that is truly amazing and I cant thank them enough. I used to buy and sell boats and I ll tell you from dealing with shops down to local individual mechanics, you cant find anyone that gives a damn that much anymore. Give em your business, like any boat it may cost you a decent penny to repair, but the price of honesty and reliability cant be set in the marine market. Use these guys
Needed a trailer for a 16ft power catamaran badly. Searched used trailers for weeks. Found a bunch of junk that needed this, that and the other. Called these guys and got into brand new Continental trailer for a few hundred more than used prices. I was able to convert v hull trailer by adding 2 bunks. These guys even gave me all brackets and hardware needed at no additional cost by taking v hull rollers off that werent needed in exchange. Great easy experience overall! If in need of a boat trailer call these guys and save yourself some trouble. Dont forget about the crew, buy these guys a pizza if you were happy with service. I know I was and would highly recommend giving them a call!
I called Gulf Marine of Clearwater on March 26 2020, and spoke to Charlie ( I think the owner ) I told him i needed the water pump serviced and the lower motor mounts replaced. He said that they had a two week back log before they would start on mine. I said that was fine. They did start on mine April 1 st. On April 3 rd Charlie calls me and said that it needed some welding and it would cost between 3 and 5 Hundred to fix. I told him to fix it. This was on April 3 rd . He said it would be about a week. On April 7 th I find out that he sent my boat to the welder ( who knows where ). After a week( April 15 th ) I went to Gulf Marine and spoke to Charlie again . He tells me that the welder has been very busy but he would do mine tomorrow (which would be April 16th) . On April 20th I drive down to Charlie and the boat is not there. He tells me that the welder is going to do it tomorrow (again which would be April 21 st ) (This story was the same each week) until May 22nd . when he got the boat back from the welder. This process has been over TWO months . If you check the Gulf Marine web site they say they do welding ( but i doubt it.) If he would have said that the welder couldnt start the job for a month and a half i would have gotten it done elsewhere. Even though he had no control over his welder it still reflects back on him. Im sure Charlie will have a response to this review but he knows that this is how I was treated. If you need work done on your boat be careful and get it in writing..
I purchased a pair of e-tec 175s from them and had them do the rigging. I checked around and nobody could touch the prices they gave me. I even had a dealer ask of the price I got from them was for a single engine.Everyone was really nice and very helpful throughout the entire process. They did a spectacular job and made the transaction very easy for me. They have a very knowledgeable staff and theyre willing to do what it takes to make you happy! If youve been around the industry for a while you know how difficult it is to find good people you can rely on. These folks are the exception to that! I would definitely recommend them to anyone!
$300 to tell me what I already knew was wrong with my motor. Did not do any work, just screwed around with my boat for 2 weeks and then told me it would be $2000 to fix it. I knew that was BS so I went and got my boat and gave them the $300 that they did not deserve and fixed it myself for $500. I rarely have anyone fix anything for me and normally would do it myself but it was a boat I just bought so I wanted to have it professionally done. Gulf Marine was recommended as a good service center but they were simply just going to rip me off. I am glad I know better and got my boat away from them. I would find some other place if you can. Seafarer Marine always seem like nice people when I go buy parts there. I have never had service done there but they cant be anywhere near the rip off that Gulf Marine is. Just do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, unless you are made of money and just dont care if someone is taking you to the cleaners.
Charlie and Nick were so helpful. I purchased a new trailer for my pontoon boat. They both took extra time to explain the fine details of a pontoon trailer and set it up just for my needs. I would definitely recommend Gulf Marine of Clearwater for all you boating needs. Thank you!
Took my boat here for electric work(run light installation) and to have my motor tilt checked. The worse decision i ever made. They stripped my spark plug threads. Then overheated my entire cylinder head trying to take it off, melting it to the point where they damaged it. Then tried to charge me for a new head, instead of replacing what they damaged.I paid over $1,000 for electric work, which was not done correctly. Had to choke my motor to cut it off, kill switch didn’t work and the temperate wire was clipped. This place is full of crooks. My boat motor was cranking and running just fine prior to dropping it off. Came back and it wouldn’t crank at all. They ask if I had $500 to rebuild the carburetors. Which never needed to be rebuilt. I ran sea foam through them and my boat has been working just fine ever since. It’s been weeks now and my boat is still running.I would drive hours away to service my boat before i go back to these crooks.
Got a great deal on a new Continental trailer, Charlie and his crew are awesome, they fitted the trailer to my boat perfectly with precision and care. Excellent folks, honest and hardworking, you dont find that these days - Gulf marine delivered! A+++++ customer service
Stopped by to check and see if they had a trailer for a boat I bought in Clearwater. They had the exact trailer I was already looking at in Jax, but a year old so it was at a better price.Joe met us at the boat ramp and made necessary adjustments to get me on the highway same day and they kept the store open late to finish the work on a Saturday.Great experience and the trailer was solid all the way home.
Quick work. Professional and informative. Had my 30’ pontoon in for a repower. Every detail was tended to at a very competitive price. Couldn’t be more satisfied with their service.
Charlie is the biggest unprofessional idiot....do not recommend this company...would not send me the estimate I asked for. So as a company if you are unable to send an estimate that was already prepared for a customer that leads me to believe that you are overcharging customers and not prepared or organized enough the handle your business...word of mouth gets around and from what I have read and been told find somewhere else to fix your boat. Gulf Marine is a less than desirable company for business dealings.
I have purchased 2 E-TEC Motors from Gulf Marine. A 50 HP and a 90 HP -about 4 years apart from each other. Both times I called around for pricing and they were very competitive. Both times they also did the rigging. I had a minor warranty issue (it was an Evinrude issue not a Gulf Marine issue) with the 90 HP motor and it was taken care of promptly. I would highly recommend Gulf Marine to anyone. They are open Saturdays which is always a plus.
Joe at Gulf Marine did an awesome job on my rusty trailer. New springs and rollers have it looking brand new!!!
I would not recommend this company to anybody period. Took my boat to get starter and yearly service. And they put plastic zip ties on all of my gas lines and then told me it was my carbs that were leaking had no leaks before I took it there. Then they did not know how to properly hook up my throttle cables could not even put it in gear once again no problems before so I took it back they said they would fix it went to pick boat up and put it in water and somehow they disconnected choke then gas line pops off while its running due to plastic zip ties so then I went back they said its jus an old boat. So unprofessional and I paid $700 for my boat to come back with issues it never had. So if anyone is thinking about taking your boat here dont do it.
I wouldnt even give 1 star for this place. Had to take our pontoon trailer in for repairs...the pontoon had 1/4 tank of gas..we got itback one month later...the trailer was fixed ok...the boat was empty...no freakin gas at all, both bimini tops are warped one has a tear in it and the support pole was damaged....these had only been used 1 time!!!!!!! We did ask them to wire 3 lights and get the depth finder working...paid them 550.00....get home...2 lights work, depth finder was gone ( had to go back and get it from them) turns put it didnt work.....and tried to snag our saftey equipment box....we wired the lights and depth finder ourselves.....looks like they used our boat at will and damaged both tops....we caught them in so many liesMy next stop..complaints with the BBB and with the city.
Walked in off the street asked about a small boat in the back the man inside was very rude told me it has no title and its $700 no negotiating. I asked what if I need a motor with it also, so he rudely said I guess you need to buy a motor. Not a nice experience no manners in that business for sure...
Best price around on the E-tec,very honest people. My Grand father bought his first boat from them in the 70s my father bought in the 80s and I bought new in 2002 .I just re-powered with a new E-tec and couldnt be happier.I quoted two other etec dealers and saved thousands.Yes thousands.
Excellent Service. Installed my New Evinrude earlier than Expected. Great Customer Service. Would Definetly Reccomend if your looking for a new Evinrude Outboard..!
We bought our new boat trailer through Gulf Marine. They were very friendly and easy to work with.
Worked on my 200 horse Johnson and my V20 Wellcraft.
