Asked for him to take a look at my vehicle and contact me with what he thinks needs done. Calls me a week later and states hes cleaned the battery terminals, and replaced battery cables because of corrosion. I explain how Ive already done that he then charges me $160 for parts and labor(one hour and twenty minutes). Continues on to state that whats wrong is a blown valve. Took it to another mechanic this one says the vehicle wont stay running for more than a few seconds because it doesnt have the chipped key. Gave this guy the chipped key; idled perfectly no indication of blown valve. This M & P is a crook and will try to get more money out of you than it actually costs.Edit: Sorry for the inaccuracy he charged me 153.52 for work that didnt need done claiming the battery cables were soaking in acid and needed to be replaced. But if they were soaking in acid then the battery would have needed replaced too, no? and I wouldve needed a new one. I at the time didnt know it was the key that was causing it to not stay for him but he wanted to install a whole other engine in my vehicle instead of properly diagnosing the problem.
I intended to write this long ago, but here is the story of my experience with M&P. In early June 2021 while on a family vacation to Yellowstone (from Texas), we hit a mule deer with our Ford Expedition after the Cody Rodeo. The deer heavily damaged the front end of our vehicle; busted the radiator and transmission coolant system and damaged the air conditioner compressor among other things. The vehicle held no coolant and could not be driven back to Texas in its condition. Keep in mind this incident happed at 10:30 p.m. on a Saturday night and we were scheduled to begin driving home the following Tuesday. Imagine how many auto repair shops, dealerships or other places are open on Sunday in Cody, WY? How are we going to get this car repaired? Do I have to wait until Monday to even get someone to start to look at it? Do we book flights home, have the car repaired in Cody and then trailered to Texas? Do we rent a car one way to drive home (estimated cost $3,000) and fly back to Cody and drive it back when it is repaired? How long does it take to get repair parts in Cody during a pandemic? Stressed to say the least. This is where Joe at M&P Repair & RV enters the story. A local taxi driver who took me to the rental car facility, after hearing my tale of woe, told me that there was a place not far from the airport that did emergency repairs on RVs suggested I might try and see if they could take a look at the vehicle. Given it was Sunday and no other place was even open, I thought I didnt have much to lose to try and find the place. The taxi driver also said, Oh, youre the people that hit that deer out by the gas station? Its a small town and word gets around.I located the repair shop which was only a few miles from the airport. I dont recall seeing any signage so I wasnt 100 percent sure I was in the right place. I approached a man who on the property and explained why I was there. The owner of M&P (Joe) said he would take a look at my vehicle and see if he could make the mechanical repairs that would allow us to get the vehicle home but he wasnt making any promises. Long story short, Joe was able to make the mechanical repairs (new radiator, mounting bracket, transmission coolant system, zip tie the headlight in) so that we could safely make the 1000 mile drive back to Texas. Joe evaluated the car on Sunday, ordered the parts on Monday and had us on the road on Thursday (which would have been Wednesday but for shipping delays related to the parts). Based on my experience, M&P might be the answer to your problem if you are stranded in Cody, WY far from home with your own vehicle and you need to get back on the road.
Saved our yellowstone vacation!!! 14 hrs from Mn, just starting into park and car overheating. Able to get back to Cody and add coolant, leaking every where. Called on a Sunday when nothing open, bring on over and will take a look. Arrived, assessed and waited our turn. Before the end of day, had spent hours on, fixed, beyond fair price, checked and rechecked and we reached our destination. Cant thank enough and a reminder that there are good people out there!!!!!
Be careful of this business for value. My RV was taken to this shop for a check engine problem caused by a clogged exhaust filter. Joe McNeil attached the computer to the port on the engine and stated that the engine had a clogged filter! He also stated that he couldnt fix the problem and sent my friend to another facility 2 hours away. What he didnt say was the filter could be cleared by running the engine at a high temperature. That cured the problem later on.Joe did state that he advised that the cost was $125 to check the system. One has to wonder why you must agree to a high fee to be told what you already know.Seems like another company taking advantage of stranded motorists.
Let me tell you about a man named Joe, his professional expertise saved our vacation. I am personally a retired maintenance engineer, my personal hobby is classic cars not only did Joe, get my gen set running I learned lots of things about them. If you want excellence in vehical maintenance and repair, M & P Repair & RV is where you wanna be. I was in and out of there before noon, on the 3rd of July.People that is called great service. Thank you Joe!
Replaced water pump and repaired mirror. Work was done quickly and properly. He is a little expensive but he knows what he is doing.
Took my travel trailer in same day and fixed a burnt inverter getting everything back up and running same day. Saved our vacation. Thank you very much.
Everyone was every nice. He even let us stay in the camper while he fixed it.
They were very good to work with us and get us back on the road to our destination at a last min call thank you for your help
Burned up brakes in Ten Sleep Wyoming. After 3 hours dealing unsuccessfully with Good Sam club we found a tow truck and road side mechanic to come out and get us to the point we could make it to Cody and the man, Joe, of M&P. He said he could see us in 2 days. We went by the 1st day to verify our appointment. He took our vin # so he could work on ordering parts and checking availability. He took us in as scheduled, ordered additional parts, all heavy duty. He even explained how not to do this again. He has a solid local business and works tourists in as he can. He is helpful, but dont try to make your misfortune his problem. Its your problem and he is the solution. I was at his mercy. He knew it, I knew it. I was thankful for surviving the Big Horn mountain range. Never asked him a price. When all was said and done, I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks Joe. Hope I never need you again. Although if Im back this way would be glad to share a beer.
We arrived in Cody on a Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. and after setting up our travel trailer in the RV park I discovered a water leak. I looked and found a leak on a cracked t- coupler by the water heater. After finding M&P via google the owner said to bring the unit to his shop and he would look at it. He dropped what he was doing to work on my unit and fixed it! It was a Saturday afternoon. We completed the 3 week trip with no more problems. He is quite a guy....most others would have said leave it and Ill get to it when I can. Very good mechanic! Thank you again!
Honest and fair price
Very friendly and competently workshop. They repaired the heating of my RV fast and good . Absolut recommendable.
Joe was great! Lost our AC on the way to Cody. Temps were in the high 80s. He had to order us a new one and it showed up at 8PM on a Friday. He called Sat. morning and told us he would work on Sat. to install.! Fixed a few other minor issues we had too! Great guy! Would go back just to say HI!!
Joe was courteous and helpful. He work hard to get us back on the road and became best buds with our boxer, Bronson
Sunday afternoon, and we are heading to Blackhills when we broke deadbolt and kids and mom stuck in trailer. We got them out and called Joe at this place and he got the door fixed for us cheap! 60bucks! Although he didnt have the right lock, he got it fixed so we could head out! Did I mention this was all on a Sunday afternoon!? Thanks! Id make this my first stop shop!
Very nice owner! Joe took us in when he was extremely busy, and short a mechanic. Reminded me of my dad who was also a mechanic. He was super busy and couldnt look at it right away, but worked on our RV until 8:30 that night to find out what was wrong. Was already booked for the next day too, but worked on ours in between other vehicles until he got it fixed late in the day. I cant blame him for the time it took, but we sure do appreciate all he did to take care of us, including letting us stay in the RV in his lot that night. Nice guy! people need to remember that Cody is NOT a large city with part stores on every corner. Thank you JOE!!
Being stuck out west with RV problems is never fun. I got to Cody and first day of camping lost shore power on my RV. I took it to M & P and Joe knew exactly what was wrong, my power cord went bad. He provided a temporary solution and I had a new cord in 2 days. I cant recommend this guy enough - they were all friendly, helpful and most of all reasonable and solved my problem!!! Thank you Joe
We broke a leaf spring on our trailer and this guy fixed it really quick and affordable on a Sunday. No BS, just high quality wrenching.
Went in to see if he could fix our brake line that was shredded when we blew a tire on our camper. Nice, courteous young man said he take a look at it. No waiting. $20.00 and 30 minutes later we were on the road again.
Don’t listen to any negative reviews for this guy !!! I was travelling with my family from England on a road trip in an RV and we had a problem with a broken sliding door on the bathroom he went over and above doing a proper repair and making the door better than it was originally! His rates were very reasonable considering we turned up on a Sunday morning highly recommend
Thank you for your friendly prompt service. We pulled in, had a minor repair done and were back on the road quickly. Great service and fair price.
Total ripoff and unprofessional service! Told us he probably needed to repack the wheel bearings on our RV new rotars if needed. We can back at the end of the day only to sit in his driveway for 2 and a half hours while he was supposedly in town getting a part. He wouldnt pick up his cell and we had no way of knowing when he would be back or how to get our RV to sleep in for the night! When his helper came back from dinner(?) He finally told us that maybe he could try to run the credit card machine.....it was 8:30 pm at that point! Bill was $2000 because instead of repacking the bearings he put new ones on it that cost over $1000!!! Never called and asked us or anything. Total scam!!! Be careful with this dude!
Called on electrical problem around 4:45 pm, said sure, we work on those problems all of the time. Bring it in tomorrow morning. Got there, said they didnt talk to me. Showed them their phone number. Said Im the owner and will not be able to help me because it would be a long progress. Very rude and unreliable.
I rented out my RV through a website for private owners to make a little extra cash. A renter took it from Kentucky headed to Yellowstone. The RV has 55,000 miles on it and had already been to Mrytle Beach and Florida that summer with no issues. The renters made it to just outside Yellowstone when the RV started to lose power going up hills. The girl that rented it drove it into his shop. Guess what the owner sees when a female pulled in with a rented RV and the owner over 1000 miles away. Dollar signs!!! He told the girl a new pump would be $800 for the part and labor to install it would be about $1500 all together. This RV has a Ford V10 chassis and I just had my fuel pump replaced on my rusted F250 for $650. I called the owner and he gave me his BS about how much the original Ford part costs, but he changed the same pump cost to $500 when I talked to him. He still told me the total would be about $1500. My renters were stranded and I had no choice so I told him to fix it. 3 days later he called and said the RV was finished and my total was $2,617.14. I was floored. He said he spent 12 hours on the RV because some of the bolts were rusted and required extra time at the rate of $135/hr. He also gave me more BS about having to work around the leveling jacks. Thats false! Long story short, this professional RV mechanic shop had to spend an extra $1100 on my account maneuvering rusted bolts. I have never changed out a fuel pump before, but I bet I can do it in less than 12 hours! Besides all this, he never called me to tell me his educated guess of an estimate was way off. He knew there was nothing I could do about it but take it up the tailpipe and just pay the bill. BTW, I also had to pay 79.95 for overnight freight charge from Tennessee because he could not locate a fuel pump in this major town. I can get it at any Ford dealership. I also looked up the same part number online and it sells for $288. I paid double! My very expensive lesson here was that I am not allowing anyone to rent my RV long distance because I will not put myself in this same situation and be at the mercy of another crooked RV repair man.
Removed and replaced gearbox in 94 GMC 4x4. Re-welded u-joint for driveshaft. Nice job. Has performed well for over 5,000 miles since.
Warning this place is a ripoff, jackleg and unprofessional mechanic who charged me for an extra qt of oil said it took 7 qts and it never has and I’ve had it changed at least 6 times before!Bent the hood lock, left greasy fingerprints on the hood and trashed the carpet at the steps! Wanted the brake lights fixed and charged me for 2.5 hrs of diagnostic at 135.00 per hour! So brake light repair, oil change and tire pressure check cost me612.00! Just had oil change and tire pressure checked in Az for 83.00 and Campers World charged me 70.00 to fix brake lights! So I feel like I got ripped about 400.00 bucks! Would not recommend this place for anything!
The owner is rude was very rude. I highly suggest going to M&P Repair or other.
This guy took me in at 4 pm and fixer a blown hydrolic Jack hose by noon next day...thank you Joe!!😙
The owner sits in his office pulls back the blinds and says, I said I could look at it today I never said I could fix it.
