If possible I would leave no stars as that is the equivalent of service that was provided. First getting ahold of the service department was entirely to difficult. I would recommend patching to sales if you want to talk to someone that day. After they had looked at my engine and they gave me the diagnosis on Saturday afternoon I determined it would be best to take it to the dealer I purchased the boat from. I called and left a message on Monday morning, right as they opened, stating such and I would pick the boat up that evening. They never returned my call and when I arrived to Fox Marine just after close, my lower unit was still not on my engine. I called the next morning and spoke with the service department and told them I was going to take it to my dealer on Wednesday morning and I would pick it up on Tuesday night and to just leave the lower unit in the boat. I also agreed to pay for the hour worth of work. When I showed up again after hours the lower unit was still not in my boat. After 2 wasted 40 minute trips I now I have to go back Wednesday at 8 am to pick up my boat, 3 hours behind my scheduled trip to CT. I will never go back to Fox Marine
Our older outboard had some issues with it so we brought it in to get some work done and the experience was less than acceptable. We were told that the motor would be checked in a week which was fine but it ended up being a 2 1/2 week ordeal of waiting to pick it up. A total of 3 1/2 hours of labor were charged to replace a minor part (pull cord) and a list of things the motor may need costing basically $250 for an overview. The end result was that the motor would cost almost as much as a new motor. It would have been much more reasonable for them to have given us notice sooner than later so we could have found a different solution this close to duck season. Will not recommend to anyone or bring any other maintenance/repairs to Fox.UPDATE: after having the recoil cord replaced here we found that it in fact was not. The motor was used less than 10 times since the repair and it snapped. Not once but twice after revealing that the cord was extremely weathered and could have no way been replaced within the past year. It was stored inside for the winter so was not victim to the elements. If you have these guys do work make sure they walk you through and show you what they did or did not do.
Called to ask for simple service on a brand new etec evinrude. Customer service said they wouldnt get to it till spring. Continue to be the worse customer service evinrude dealer in the east. Good luck.
