Great little diner with some delicious breakfast and lunch options. My girlfriend and I love coming here. Every once in a while it gets busy with long waits but the staff do a great job.
Place was busy on Saturday which was a good sign to start. Plus the food was delicious and ready fast. Prepare to wait for a table because the front tells you times that are wrong by a least 30 minutes.
We were visiting from out-of-state and this place was highly recommended by a friend who lives locally. Had breakfast - and we were amazed. Standard diner fare doesnt include toast from homemade bread, fluffy light biscuits, and rich, smooth coffee. Will definitely be back for lunch the next time were in town - to try some of the Greek specialty items on the menu.

Loved the menu options and food was amazing. They do prefer cash over card because of the extra cost to them from customers using a credit card. I just went and I already want to go again!
Great little diner. They have cheap food and quick ... really quick service. Have been here twice now and its great.
They say a half hour to everyone and then for me it was more then an hour. I cant blame them for the wait because I know the labor shortage woes. I just would like a more accurate estimate. They also let regulars sit immediately so that was frustrating.
Lady at the front was so rude. We asked if we could wait for a table and she said “it’s gonna be a while” in a rude tone as if it were not an option to wait. There wasn’t a single person waiting to be sat. We sat at the counter because it felt like the only option. As we sat down 4 tables opened up within 2 minutes. The food was pretty good, but not diner prices. Our server Megan was very kind and welcoming. :)
Went there about 6:30 a.m. with the girlfriend after work and was not disappointed. The waitress was kind and quick so a huge plus for that and thank you again. The place also has a nice oldies malt shop vibe with some classic rock so another plus there.
The gyros are very good along with the service and atmosphere! I recommend it.
Always friendly staff here, food is always great. Breakfast was busy like usual but we just sat at the counter and avoided the wait for a booth.
Great dinner food. Staff was UNDER PRESSURE.....only two cooks, and and 20+ people in line, still fast and friendly. Meals were perfect.

I asked to sit at the counter by myself the hostess said yes when I sat with the menu for a minute the counter staff totally ignored me for over 10 minutes and they walked past me 10 times if not once. The waitress was within 2 feet away from me making sure she didn’t have eye contact so I walked out! Apparently they don’t care about customers. Will never go back again.

Way there before covid started, we celebrate dads birthday ( lost him 6 yrs ago) but food was great, plan on going there today 6/14/21 and is dad birthday Fri. I love the look & feel of the place, it not a bad price for the food
I am here for a doctors appointment all the way from New York state. I found this place and I love it ! Looks like a diner from the 1950s, the food is delicious and the waitstaff are so friendly. I will definitely be back when I am back in the area.

What it lacks in beauty it makes up for a good quality fair priced food. The waitresses are nice make sure you tip them well.
This is a nice dinner. The atmosphere is diner style but up on a hill so views are nice. The food is classic breakfast lunch. I ordered eggs and a pancake. It came out hot and yummy. My only complaint would be the homefrys needed a bit more cooking. They use real maple syrup. I would go back. The waitress was very friendly.

The staff was on point. Quickly seated and greeted and the waitress was very friendly. No wasted movement as entire staff were running full tilt without any looks of frustration or disappointment as more people came in and out. Food was great and kitchen was firing on all cylinders getting orders in and out quickly. No signs of slow down during this pandemic.

My wife and I love Athens Diner for breakfast. Weve eaten here dozens of times and always have a nice meal. Friendly service, great vibe with nice view and food always comes out super fast. Went yesterday (Sat) at 11am and although busy, we were seated right away. Love their homemade hash and country fried steak. Gravy is delicious.

My husband and i really like this diner. It is really cool and a real throw back to the older days. The food is delicious. The waitstaff is ; are both efficient and friendly and prices are very fair. I always enjoy a visit here when I’m up that way. You can’t go wrong. Supposedly it gets pretty busy on weekend mornings so plan accordingly.

Great food, and great customer service. I was in VT for an appointment and we went to 3 places for breakfast food and none of them were open. We decided to go here because they were open and had that diner feel to it. Will go again next time Im over there craving some delicious breakfast food.
What a diner should be. Great food, interesting menu with diverse selections. Fresh, hot coffee served by happy people. You may have to wait but you will not be disappointed.
The cuisine is awesome!Just dont go in the afternoon if you havent eaten that day yet. Because Athens Diner has such a wide range of selections on the menu, that its hard to make your choice. Therefore it takes longer to place your order!Definitely check this Diner out!

Im not from here, just in the area for my dads work, and stopped here because it was close to my hotel and had nice reviews. Im use to places being quantity over quality, or vice versa. This place has both. Their Greek Souvlaki and Chicken Gyros are absolutely amazing, and more than both my dad and I could eat. Amazing orange cream milkshake. Their fried clam strips are also really good. I 100% recommend stopping by if you get the chance.
We’ve been coming here for years and will keep coming back. The food is excellent and fresh and prices are very fare. It also has the best Gyro in town.

Absolutely hands down the best experience Ive had going out to eat. Super cool atmosphere makes you feel like youve stepped into a Food time capsule. With optional Stool/counter seating it makes any childrens eyes light up sitting up front and close watching the action.They also make Amazing food. Athens Diner was a great experience, the waitress and staff were very attentive to our family. It has a great view of Mount Mansfield, the diner interior was clean and organized. The food was awesome, I had beef gravy and biscuits and they were tasty!I would recommend this for breakfast to everyone!

Very cute, retro feel. More expensive than I would expect for the look of it, but the food was good quality. I enjoyed the Vermonter skillet, my friends tell me the milkshakes are worthwhile. The service staff were overworked, but friendly. We went in a big group and were able to be accommodated.

Always a nice place to visit for breakfast. They have a good menu with quite a few options, certainly dont seem to mind you making your own combinations, and also have some great milkshakes and desserts. As as added bonus, the place has a nice atmosphere, with the classic diner aesthetic, and a good view from the hill its on.

Im fairly obsessed with the skillet meals. I always get the meat lovers while encouraging others to get them with me. But they have whatever youre really craving from a diner for breakfast or lunch. Get to take a date or the whole family, you really cant go wrong.

This is the best diner in vermont in my opinion ! Cant speak on there lunch menu as i never had it. However there breakfast menu is perfect ! The breakfast sandwhiches, pancakes,home fries,toast, eggs, eggs Benedict, and sausage gravy and bisquits are all excellant!!! I would recommend anyone in the colchester area stop there if you want a phenomenal breakfast! As a bonus the service is always top notch as well.
There was black stuff, couldve been pepper, in the salt. My mom didnt eat most of the food because for all we know it couldve been something totally different. When my mom asked for a different salt shaker, the waitress asked, why? And my mom explained. The waitress said it was pepper and thats the best they could do. Its bull because they couldve put them into the dish washer and clean them. It was cross contamination. We were definitely not pleased. What if one of us were allergic to pepper and ate that?
