Hello, I can’t help to notice a handful of bad reviews. I must say my experience has been different. Everyone is kind, down to earth and super welcoming. The clothing is all quality brands and in good condition. It takes them up to 40 minutes to look through the clothes people want to sell them so they can assure quality. This is not an antique store nor your traditional thrift store. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Have been to other Uptown Cheapskates in other states and loved them. Found some really good items and prices were good at this location. However, I had interaction with 3 different employees and they either ignored me or were very rude. Wont go back to this location.

Customer service is top notch. I found a ton of cute clothes for less than $20 (3 pairs of jeans and 3 tops). Love this place. I’ve told all my friends and will return for literally all of my clothing needs.

Terrible, terrible, terrible! They really do live up to their name. They had the audacity to make me wait for 39 minutes, only to reject most of what I brought in and insult me with $9.50 in cash. Trust me, one star is still too generous for these cheapskates. I had to carry the heavy bags of my stuff all the way back to DC. They even suggested I go to some other place nearby to donate what I had left for no money. Seriously!? Dont waste your time with these people. Go on eBay or somewhere else online where you can get a better deal in return.

I take care of my shoes but some how aren’t In good conditions. They look the same as I bought them. Lastly, If you do sell they try to give you the lowest. Look around and you’ll see the conditions of their clothing 🥴🥴 honestly better off selling on offer up.I clearly went to both if I put down a review. Thanks for having time to verify though. Maybe better service and attitude will leave you better reviews.

I visited this store today and was completely appalled by how the manager treats both her customers and employees. I had my trained service dog with me whom was wearing her official vest. She stayed by my side, was quiet, and bothered no one, per her being a service animal. The manager forced one of her employees to approach my friend and I and demand I show certificate for my pet. Not only is this extremely rude but it is also completely ILLEGAL. I am allowed to be asked what service she provides, that is it. My pet alerts me if I am going to have a seizure and this lady was legitimately freaking out about her being in the store. This was PURE DISCRIMINATION. On top of that, she was yelling at her employee for being “too kind” to me. All in all a horrible experience, I will never go back.

This is NOT a thrift store NOR is it a “CHEAP” place. If you have to PAY for a BAG to put your stuff in do you really think it’s CHEAP??? If anything this should be labeled a normal store. if you come in with $20 or less please do not expect to get a lot but one or two things, you will not be satisfied. But, the staff was nice so that’s cute.

I find this store so comforting. every time I go, I leave with a purchase and thats means a lot coming from a broke college student. their sales are jaw dropping. I found several cute items during that were marked for only 1 dollar and not only is their product selection great, but uptowns staff is diverse and friendly. this store is a safe place for LGBTQIA+ and, peoples of color. I feel like a celebrity every time I show my friends this store for the first time. we will be back.

I went to this store to sell my clothes and the people there were very rude. They seemed very annoyed with me like they didn’t even want to take my clothes. Then when they called me back to give me my money, they only gave me only $30 total for an adidas sweat suit (Top and bottom) that was brand new with tags and never worn, pop fit leggings that were brand new with tags and never worn, a vintage 90s satin black and red dress with rhinestones that can no longer be found in stores, and a vintage red looney tunes sweatshirt that cannot be found anywhere else as well. And they refused to take my jeans that were completely new with tags and never worn. 0/10, would not recommend. If you’re a seller, you’re better off selling on Depop.

Extremely nice staff. Had good encounter with the selling process. However, the wait can be a little long depending on the traffic. Love this place. Highly recommended to shop on a budget.

Review for women’s wear only:Grungy, skanky, cheap looking clothing. If rolling out of bed in hand-me-downs is your thing, come here. Nothing special about this place- but if you’d like a worn out looking crop top for 10 dollars, then by all means. I brought in some of the most beautiful pieces, classy, great condition- all they took was 3 of my lowest quality pieces for 10 dollars. They said they only carry casual clothing- but wouldn’t the UMD students benefit from some professional wear? They also don’t take petite clothing, even though so many of their pieces are so worn out, they are just as small as my pieces. My pieces were sizes 00-xxsp, and my items were not smaller then some of tiniest things and they have lots of tiny clothing. the smallest sized jeans I saw myself fitting in were an 8-10. Kids, if you’re on a budget, try value village on 6611 Annapolis road in landover hills, Maryland. Go on a Tuesday or Thursday for 25% off. You don’t need to spend 3 times more on casual wear. I will say, this location does have some creative pieces for men.

The staff was kind and it was very clean but im disappointed with how high some of the products are. I thought this was a thrift store or a cheap place for kids to shop on a low budget but this place proved me very wrong. I prefer places like Value Village😀.

Great store, if you are looking for name brand pieces for cheap prices. everything is very high quality, AND its a good price. its also pack with a lot of clothing. you can definitely find what youre looking for. though if you want to go thrifting i would go somewhere else. i like finding clothes that you cant really find anywhere else, and here its pretty generic clothes. though regardless a great store, you should def go here.

So clean and organized! Great friendly staff and while it had a TON of inventory...You can make it through the rack and see what is available without breaking hangers or feeling frustrated by too full of racks

They offered me $9 for one leather jacket, 2 sweaters and 2 chinos. All of those items are almost brand new, worn once or twice. Got those as a gift never really liked, so I wanted to sell them for some cash. But $8 seriously! Even a bowl of Chipotle cost more that that! LOL. Never going in there again!

The store it is pretty clean. It has a good inventory. The prices are okay, on the pricey side. Overall, I like it a lot because the merchandise is on very good conditions.

I did enjoy this store until recently. Mixed feelings about it.I purchased shoes which broke immediately when I got home and took them off. The bottom popped right off like butter.The owner liz would not give me a refund or even store credit for the item!!! Ridiculous.Me and my girlfriend shop here all the time and have spent hundreds of dollars. Thats going to stop. Thanks for the horrible service.Oh and liz started telling me there were new marks made on the shoes, when they were in fact there when I purchased the item. Great way to make $40 Liz!

No stars if i could star since i cant. Shop uptown cheapskate other places in the DMV rockville is nice and so are the others. College park is in bed with HomeCourtDMV n their vintageshop. They will place things on hold for them they think theyll like and keep it on hold so customers cant buy it and it can be resold at a way higher price at homecourtDMV. So dont shop either store shop the other uptown cheapskates and you will get a fair shot and for branded stuff theres plenty of upscale resellers. Brand new product came in still on the rack some items not even priced. When i asked for the 2 items i wanted they told me someone put it on hold. I asked how long are holds they said 24 hrs. 48hrs later i called the store to confirm pricing of both items and availability. When i got to the store they denied me purchasing the item as they hold items for specific customers for more then 24 hr. So i wait another 2 days and come back to the item still on hold for the special customer and the store owner is the one telling me. So i ask is it on hold forever? She begins to tell me u dont know the customer i repeat my question. N she says itll be on hold until whenever he feels like picking it up. I dont know about everyone else but i think all customers should have a fair shot at anything that comes in the store if not then what is the point to even shopping thrift if the good stuff is going to be held for another store? Thats my 2 cents bad customer service was terrible from the manager coworkers are very pleasant, pricing isnt even great. On top of not getting the same opportunities as other customers that have preferences. I will never shop sell or suggest uptown cheapskate in college park to anyone. On top of everything they have some fake off white Jordan 1s on the shelf for $1500 and their special customer is their authenticator and also works at homecourtDMV sounds like a conflict of interest to me. Also sounds like a better business bureau issue to me so we will see where this goes. Bad business is never a good look.

This store is great! Wayyyyy better than the Rockville store! The staff is very friendly, and helpful! prices are fair, compared to other consignment shops. Location is great, minutes from downtown D.C. and the metro lines. Manager is awesome! Love the selection. Can get great items super cheap and higher end items at affordable prices. Great if your wanting to pick up something to wear that’s nicer and you don’t want to spend much (college budget!)! I’m coming here a lot!

DO NOT LEAVE CLOTHES to be evaluated. Dropped off Friday afternoon. Didn’t receive a call at all so I called later Saturday evening. I got a price after I called. Wasn’t able to make it Sun so I went Monday to pick up my clothes and they had “Donated them because I took to long. I NEVER got a call, text or email warning they were going to donate. I understand they can’t store stuff but when I have to track you down to get a response there should have been some sort of call or text that you are giving someone’s stuff away. I lost my moms fur coat, 6 pairs of name brand shoes, and two other very nice jackets.

Great selling experience, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Convenient, free parking in the nearby garage. The store also has a great selection of clothing, shoes, and designer handbags at awesome prices. Ill definitely be back to sell more and to shop!

Great customer service, hard worker.

Was greeted as soon as I came in and the fact that they weren’t open to sell yet was immediately explained, saving me from any confusion. I had brought in a pair of shoes which were easily sold for a reasonable price almost immediately after a quick sign-in process. The staff was very friendly and diverse. On top of this there were some small extra things that were very nice, 2 cold water fountains and good air conditioning were a nice touch on a hot day like today. The selection of clothes is already very nice, there’s a wide range of men and women’s clothes and a very diverse price range, great if you’re looking for something cheap, great if you’re looking for something more high-end. I would absolutely recommend selling here and look forward to becoming a patron when it opens.

Great store to sell or buy clothes and accessories. Good customer service. Friendly staff, especially a younger slender girl with cirly long hair, who was helping my wife a few times. Would be back and would certainly recommend.

Really not feeling this place. Both times I’ve brought high quality great clothes there they’ve either gave me pennies on the dollar or still rejected them. They basically need to be a clothing store because if it’s not new with tags, and to their very specific liking they are not taking it. It’s left a bad taste in my mouth. Platos Closet is the spot.Update: Rejection is hard is not good or adequate customer service, and further solidified that I would never step foot in this store, and I will make sure to spread this information as well. So that rejection is felt from all angles. If something has never been worn and it’s a popular name brand, why would it be rejected? You’re not Macy’s, this is a second hand shop.

This store has HEAT! Ive gotten a vintage Phoenix Suns Steve Nash jersey, a fair price supreme hat, and some othet dope items from this particular location! Wayyyyy better than the Rockville by light years! The staff is very friendly, welcoming. In addition, on social media, if you do have a particular question about an item they do a very good job responding back in a timely fashion. In most cases their prices are fair, compared to other consignment shops! What also adds to their quality of items is their location in a bustling college town, minutes from downtown D.C. and the metro lines. I have also shared a good laugh with the staff everytime ive purchased and sold items. I do get the occasional stuff that arent accepted, but generally speaking, thats life, and the stuff they have taken from me im sure goes to a home of someone that would like the item more than i, or simply wear it better than i ever did or could! I wish this store was around when i was in undergrad at UMD! They got a longer term customer here!

Great selling experience! The prices they offered were fair and they also explained how the prices were calculated. However since the prices offered are similarly proportional to the prices they will list through all kinds of clothes, it may not be the best place for luxury selling, as luxury items usually keep higher resell values.

My first time going and eveyone was nice,friendly and very helpful, i will return again.

Overall great selling experience but I wouldn’t recommend bringing luxury goods to this locations. I brought a few small designer items and the lady said “these are dupes, right?” Lol - no, why would I bring dupes to a consignment shop where items get authenticated? She apologized if she had offended me but I still felt like it was rude to suggest they were dupes and to ask me why I was selling them and how much I was going to sell them for. Just an awkward situation.

Not good service I went there with a Michael Kors sandals never been used and they didnt take it and I went there with other clothes thats never been used tags on it and then they would not take it I would not go back again

This place isnt open which was not made clear to me. You can sell here, but you cant buy anything till September (and it looks like they have some great stuff). I was the only customer there browsing for a long time before I overhead one of the cashiers tell a customer they werent selling. On my way out I noticed a small sign saying they werent selling yet, but I think that needs to be made more clear/they need to tell each person who walks in the door.

If you’re selling, ask for a price breakdown of everything before you leave!!! I made the mistake of not seeing what they took and letting 3 pairs of $175 jeans go for nothing. Guess I was used to mustard seed going through everything individually and giving 50%, not 30%. Would have given 1 star but I’m partially at fault. Never going back.
