I bought my first car (ever) from University Subaru back in May. I was super nervous heading into the experience (you hear a lot of bad stories about dealerships and salesmen, you know?). But I have to say, I was nothing short of thrilled with how everything turned out. We found their staff to be super professional yet personable; they were also really patient with us throughout the process, answering our questions and giving us honest info. Our salesman was Tim and he was great. Their finance guy, JR, is really great too. We have been very happy with the used Outback we got (it came in crazy-good condition). I was moving in from out of state, and they walked me through registering my new car with the DMV, and even gave me a free rental to use until my car had shipped to the dealer. Purchased part and immediately issued a refund for wrong part. Order placed sunday night, refund placed 20minutes later. Get a call monday morning which was missed at 930am. Returned call at noon to say i wanted a refund, which should have already been initiated. Get a call around 3pm that the order has already been packaged and shipped and ill need to returrn the part for a refund. I dont understand how i can electronically issue a refund and have it still sent out and packaged the next day. Now i have to go through the process of shipping it back. Honestly pretty unhappy. I guess dont order the wrong part and expect a refund, theyll ship it anyways.

Were blown away by the friendly staff from sales to service.No pressure introduction to the models we were interested in, thorough review of options and test drives to narrow our choice. When we took possession of our new Outback Touring, we discovered an issue with the power steering that took a bit of doing to diagnose. We were on our way out of town and had to leave the vehicle for repair. When we returned we learned that University Subaru had ordered in new replacement vehicle for us rather than risk our losing confidence in our choice.Way above and beyond the call. Completely unsolicited on our part but most appreciated.Loving the Outback. We are sold on the brand and dealership. Well be back for another when the time comes.

Not the worst place to go. sometimes the service department doesnt do things perfect but they are willing to redo to try and get it right. unfortunately with cars being the second most valuable thing we own, customers want the car to be worked on perfectly and not get it back with things not completed or new scratches on things. they ought to treat them with absolute respect and better than their own. with that said, service dept. is doing better than they used to do. we are looking for a business to say something and then deliver what they stated they would do. bought the car here and had no issues with purchase dept.

Had a recall done on my Subaru Outback. Because of my job, I am not able to be without a car on a weekday and they did really well to accommodate my needs and get me in on the weekend ASAP instead. The whole process only took an hour total which was nice to get my car back that quickly and they were super friendly as well. They also didnt pressure me into buying a bunch of other repairs at all which I appreciated.

My experience was like no other for me. The Covid crisis has changed the way many things are done and car buying is one. I went to have a service recall performed on a Subaru Outback that I bought used from a different dealership. I had driven it for 4 years and loved it. However, I had been watching ads for the Ascent and wanted to see in person. I poked around the lot and not one salesperson approached. Finally, I walked up to counter and asked to test drive. It was then that Pete got up and offered to assist. I needed time to think my purchase through as I had not had a payment for several years. I asked to get the loan processed pre-approved so I could decide if I really wanted to take the plunge. He helped me crunch numbers and had the finance person working. The next week, I made the trip back to University Subaru to pick up my new Ascent. Pete made sure to cover ALL the details! Alot changes in the technology of a car in an 8 year span. Was a great experience even wearing a mask.
I bought my vehicle here but thats not what this review is about. I recently had my drivers side window smashed out and brought the car back to the shop here to replace the window. It was a smidge more expensive than going through safelite but I wanted to support this local business. They installed it and dropped the car back off. Once back to me, I realized quickly that they didnt vaccum the broken glass out of the back seat or the inside of the door! Imagine my surprise when I called them back to finish the job and the service department manager refused to help me! After spending almost 500 dollars to repair the window I was told that they dont have a vacuum cleaner nor do they have the special tool required to get into the door panel! Frustrating to say the least. I thought I had a good relationship established with this dealership but they definitely lost a customer with me.
Excellent experience at University Subaru! Mr. Nixon worked with me to get the extras I wanted, like contacting a local trailer dealership to install a towing hitch, at half the cost I’d priced elsewhere. Gave me a really good deal, threw in free mud flaps and delivery, which was a huge help to me, since my husband’s leg was broken and he couldn’t drive to go with me to pick it up. Taylor explained clearly all of the car’s features and controls upon delivery. Really happy with the whole buying experience.
From our first visit a couple months ago, Pete was not only very knowledgeable and professional, but also he honored our request to not be bombarded with tons of information. Pete only reached out with information that was pertinent to where we were at in the process. We spoke to numerous other dealerships (Subaru + others) throughout the state and had varying levels of experiences. Pete and others at University Subaru consistently provided good service that ultimately made us want to work with them. Also, J.R. made the paperwork process seamless and efficient. I went here 2 years ago with the intention of buying. The salesman tried to talk me into a cheaper, higher mileage vehicle, with lots of body damage inside and out, simply because it was under my loan amount. When I asked about the multiple gouges in the interior, I was harshly told, Well, Suburu owners have dogs.I mean, I also have dogs, but that doesnt mean Ill spend 19k on a vehicle with bite marks all over the interior as well as a big rusty dent in the hood.I was wanting a vehicle slightly over the loan amount I had previously secured, and he wouldnt even talk to me about it, other than to say that they paid 2k more than they were asking for it, so they were already taking a loss with the price they had on it. That was obviously a lie. No one would sell a used car for 21k, when they paid 23k for it. So I went across town and spent 22k on a completely different vehicle.

Tried to buy a 2020 Outback a few months ago. They did not have one on the lot, which I understand because 2021’s were out by then. The salesman said he found the last one in the region but took hours to respond and after 2 days of trying to figure something out I eventually called a St. Louis one and ended up buying that same car from them later that day.Then, in the last few weeks we tried to buy a roof cargo holder, ordered one on the website because it said University Suburu had one in stock. The next day we get a call from the Suburu parts person apologizing and saying that he had put it in wrong and they didn’t have it. We explained that we had a trip coming up and needed it soon so we would just cancel the order and order from somewhere else. The parts guy said he could get it here by the time we needed for an extra shipping cost. We declined and said we wouldn’t pay the cost but if they could get it here before our vacation we would still buy from them. They said they could make arrangements and have it here by the 22nd of December, our trip being on the 28th of December. We called today, the 22nd of December, and they said it would be in next month.We do not plan to do any more business here.Update: Received a call the morning after this that they found one in stock now and we can pick it up whenever.
It was easy. All was as promised. They did not try to talk me into more expensive models. They did the right thing for me. As a female, I appreciate being able to trust that they cared about me and what I wanted, rather than what they could talk me into. Highly recommend!
First visit to University Subaru. We moved to the area about a year ago and needed a more convenient dealer. Outstanding first impression. I do basic maintenance on our Forester, but its good to know that I can get expert service, for things like the alignment, that Wade did. Amanda, the service representative, was very pleasant and informative, and the guy (sorry, I didnt catch your name) at check-in was helpful and pleasant, also.
The service department is professional and quick. I had some questions about maintenance for my Subaru. They talked to me to help me ensure my car stayed in good working order. I got my car in within a couple of days and it was ready on time.

Such a great experience from start to finish. I usually DREAD going to car dealerships, but all of my I interactions with University Subaru have been a pleasure. Before buying a new car with them, I initially came in to look at various models and didn’t end up purchasing until almost a year later, but I wasn’t hounded with calls and emails in the meantime, pressuring me to buy. When I did make the purchase, every aspect was smooth and hassle free, without all of the heavy handed sales tactics—such a relief! My husband sat in for some of the process, and he was amazed at how differently things were handled here than at another local dealership he’d recently shopped at, so he’s now a University Subaru convert too. ;) Seriously, great people, great cars—do yourself a favor and skip the other dealerships!
This has been one of the best car buying experiences that I have had. I drove 2 1/2 hours to Columbia to look at purchasing a used Prius on their lot. I called a few days beforehand to ask questions. Brian answered every one of my questions and concerns. They held the vehicle for me. Once I arrived in the dealership, they answered my questions and made the process very smooth. JR was the first finance person that I felt at ease with and did not feel pressured. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a new or used car to check out University Subaru.

I recommend stopping in even if Subaru isn’t at the top of your list, as it initially was low on mine but here I am with a new Subaru.*Ask for Keith* to be your salesman - his knowledge of the features on these vehicles is comprehensive and I never felt even slightly pressured to make a move. By far the most professional salesman I worked with in this town (having dealt with ~10). Also, I came in and out several times to try out different vehicles and he was always patient with my picky and indecisive perspective when it comes to big purchases.On the financial side, Richard gave me a good deal on my trade in - and it wasn’t even a Subaru (but was well-maintained and problem). JR in finance offers the extended warranty at a much cheaper price than some other dealerships.Genuinely impressed with the whole experience! University Subaru is a class act.

She let us know what was going on, explained the problems, kept us updated on the progress, and checked on us several times to make sure we were doing ok while waiting. The work was completed quickly, considering that I asked for several things to be done today while I was there (I live out of town).Also, seeing the owner and Buddy the Wonder Dog made the wait fun, too.
Ordered the fully equipped Ascent which arrived earlier than anticipated. This dealer places a high value on the customers time. Made 3 contacts and each time was out the door in around an hour. The Subaru lineup sells itself when you consider the comfort and safety features of each model.Visited at least 5 other dealerships in Columbia and University Subaru was by far the easiest group of people to deal with from beginning to end.
They continue to wow! My husband and I have been Subaru fans for over a decade. Today, my Tribeca started having issues. While its still be diagnosed, they gave me a loaner and want to test the car for at least 3 days to be sure its safe for me to drive. Nan, Ben, Meredith and all of Dave and Dans team never cease to amaze me with how much they care about the Subaru brand and their customers. Fingers crossed its an easy fix!
Very honest and helpful staff. From the moment we drove onto the property we were offered help and met with sincerity. We needed locking lug nuts and as we were putting them on my car, someone from the service department came out and checked the torque on all four tires. I would recommend servicing your car here whenever needed. Thank you guys!

I was on a road trip and had an issue with my parking break that I feared might be a safety issue. Instead of giving the standard, Bring it in, and well charge you $120 just to look at it, Amanda actually talked to me like she cared, we discussed the symptoms, and she was able to reassure me that it probably wasnt a risk. I stopped in anyway just to be safe. Very happy with that experience!

They let me come in right before close, diagnosed the problem and gave us an INCREDIBLE deal on a new catalytic converter. Definitely not what I expected from a car dealership! Totally personable, and there was zero pressure to buy. Never once felt judged for not wanting to spend a ton of money. Even the checking out part was super straight forward and concise. They told us the price, and thats what it was. They did not tack on cleaning fees or service charges or even delivery fees. Will definitely only be buying from them in the future.

From meeting Taylor to signing the final papers, no more then an hour could have passed. That dealership had excellent service so I was concerned whether I would find this one to be equal. I have had only good experiences with them at this point. I have loved my Subaru Legacy sedan and hope to have Subaru again when it is time to get a new car. I hope I will have the same feelings when the time comes.

I bought a 2015 Subaru Legacy from University in July 2015. I didnt know much about Subaru in general but everybody there was extremely nice and not pushy at all. Part of the reason I wanted to buy there was because they werent pushy. I worked with Brooks, great guy and he answered any of our questions. Since owning the car in the past week weve had our side view mirror cracked and windshield crack. They took care of the side view mirror and the windshield fast and easy. Pretty sure the windshield was cracked from a rock and they made it to where it was covered under the warranty. If I have to buy another vehicle, itd be from these guys hands down.
Always great to stop in. They were very helpful when I bought my Crosstrek and seemed more interested in helping me find a vehicle that would fit my needs rather than just making another sale. After sale service has been excellent.

Literally the best experience buying a car I have ever had! I told them what I could do and they met it, no questions asked. I never felt that dreadful feeling that usually comes with the purchase of a vehicle. I am in love with my Subaru Outback😍
Oh my gosh Im not sure where to start. This was flat out the best experience Ive ever had buying a car.Everything from checking inventory online to calling to confirm availability.Then it turns out the car I wanted didnt have the options I was looking for. I thought I was back to square one.Then they called me back and had found a car with the options I desired.Now I didnt ask them to go out of their way and do this. They did it on their own. Without a commitment to buy or anything.I was impressed with the effort they put into trying to help me.I decided to go in and look at the cars on the lot.They had a pretty nice selection. I knew I wanted a legacy so I looked at several different colors and trim levels.Found one with all the options I wanted and the trim level I desired most.Got more for my trade in than what they told me it was worth on the phone. Even more than KBB said trade in value was.Also got a great price on the legacy. Less than what Carfax said people were paying for these in my area.Walked in took a test drive with a very knowledgeable salesman.Decided this was the car for us.Got into the finance office and couldnt have been more pleased with the service and results.This place is run the way I would want my business run. From the top down.The manager the salesman the finance officer even the mechanic and the detailer are all very good at what they do.Im going to say that they are a small business. They do things right and thats why they are selling cars.Three cars were sold in the short time we were there.How they manage to do this with the incredible efficiency that they do with what appeared to be a short staff can only be compared to a Chick-fil-A at lunch.Thanks to everyone at University Subaru.Ill enjoy my car for many years and when we are ready to replace the other two we own I know where Ill look first.If you are in the market for a new or used automobile you owe it to yourself to check them out.
Took my car to get fixed. As soon as I pulled out, problems were still there.
I just wanted to say that my wife and I are very pleased with the 2013 Subaru Forester we purchased from University Subaru in August of 2016 and to also comment on a recent service experience. We took out the used car warranty when we bought the car, which I usually think is a waste of money but we bought this time. After 15 months of owning we started hearing a clicking when we made a turn at slower speeds. A mechanic friend of mine told me he suspected CV shafts were the problem. When I called Ben in the service department he verified that the cv shafts were covered under our warranty and then proceeded to take excellent care of us by scheduling an appointment and providing us a very nice loaner vehicle while it was being fixed. This is a great dealership!
