LA Mart is conveniently location in Columbia and has many selections of ethnic foods. The merchandise is better priced than other stores. I like the place but must shop somewhere else because I find the new bag policy ridiculous. I can’t seem to grasp on the fact that I need to bag my own groceries when I bring my own bags. Where as the cashier don’t have any problem bagging the groceries when you purchased the store’s logo bags. The policy makes it very inconvenient for me with small children. The bottom line is that I think bagging groceries should be part of your customer service. Or enforce the new bag policy to all customers regarding the customer bring their own or purchase one.

Great deals on vegetables. I love the $ 1.00 table for bulk buying ingredients for stews. Also, they have a toilet paper brand named Elite 🤔 and a bread brand called bimbo. 🤪 Awesome foreign marketing research by the exporters.

Ok so we went to visit family in Maryland and I found this market, I only went in for fish but ended up in that store for over an hour looking at all kinds if different foods, prices werent bad and you can buy in bulk with some things. Next visit I will have room in the trunk for whatever I find.

The store was organized in three sections: Latino, Asian, and US. The store was very big and had a lot of basic ingredients for people who actually cook.

This place is a goldmine for adventurous eaters. If youre not shy about trying new foods, you owe it to yourself to stop by at least once. I come regularly when my kids go skating because its in the same plaza as the Columbia Ice Rink.They have the best prices on produce. Their selection is large and they have a section of prebagged produce thats $1 per bag. It varies from week to week, so its a bit like treasure hunting which makes it fun. Often, they have big sales on boxes of ripe fruit. Meaning, theyre ready to eat now, so you better be quick. I remember the time I got a whole box of delicious vine-ripened tomatoes for a super low price and turned them into amazing sauce. There was a time I bought a box of mangoes, devoured them in a few days, and went back to buy another box for smoothies.Im not an expert on on Latino food by any measure, but they have a large variety of things Ive never tried before. This is where I first found curtido, which is a delicious pickle medley. For a time, they had 2 kinds, but I dont see them anymore. But frankly, those were expensive for what they were. Its a bit like buying brand-name kimchi, which is way too expensive when you (A) consider how cheap & easy it is to make at home (B) consider the store-made stuff at Korean groceries is cheaper by the pound. My friends say its the same way with curtido; make it at home.Another fun experience was trying all their chorizos, and I do mean ALL their chorizos. They carry a few brands and styles; Mexican, Honduran, Argentinean, Colombian, and Guatemalan. They even have Columbian black chorizo in stock at the moment. That was a pleasant and rare surprise.Theres also a broad selection of instant noodles; 2 walls worth from several Asian countries. I look forward to trying them all eventually, but that will take months!They have a crazy selection of candies, cookies, chips, & beverages from Asia & Latin America. Thats heaven for kids, but also exciting for parents. Recently, I brought home Gamesa Acoiris for the kids, because they were so cute! Whats more fun than colorful coconut-crusted marshmallows on a strawberry shortbread cookie? But I think I ate more of them than the kids did.Sincerely, if youre not afraid to try new foods, be sure to visit. Its not a very big grocery store, but you get lost in the variety for hours. Youre sure to find something youve never tried before.

2nd review: The prices are unbelievable compared to most other grocery stores, including Sams Club. I was just at Sams and they had a bag of about 10 limes for $3.60 or so. LA Mart had 8 limes for $1. Jalapenos are so much cheaper here than other groceries. Fuji apples are super cheap. All of the fresh veggies, fruits, etc. seem to be way cheaper than everywhere else. I shop at Sams, Costco, BJs, Giant, and Green Valley so its not like I havent been around. Altho Lotte does come closer to them in pricing.The other thing that i like is they have this secret bread and deserts small section in the back near the fish. Look for the cashier. They only take cash here. The sub rolls which arent displayed(you have to ask) are baked fresh daily and super cheap too. Like 6 of them for $2. I also tried these croissant things with pineapple or something in it that were good for $1 each but they were out of them today.I hope they stay in business. It always seems like theyre struggling when i see their faces.

Best international grocery store ever!Their selection is superior to H-Mart, Global Food, Lotte Market etc..and the price is cheaper too..I love their fresh seafood area, the handlers are following Covid-19 protocols and they bagged customers purchase very nicely and neatly and keep the area cleanYou should try their bakery goods, theyre delicious..I wish I can give more than 5 stars because I love this place so much and they deserve it

They have everything!Prices are way better Hmart, Lotte and other Indian-Pakistani grocery stores. And they don’t sell rotten fruits like Hmart and Lotte Plaza does! Asian store fruits goes bad in a day.At other grocery stores I always pay $100-150, and at this place for same quantity of groceries or even more, I pay about $50-80. I’m saving minimum 40% money on groceries!Employees are friendly too. I read some reviews, people are complaining about their service. Well, I go there to shop, not to make friends or find love.I like to compare the quality and price for everything I purchase. I’m very satisfied with both there.If you are interested in some more of my experience sharing about the price,..1. I purchased a probable griller on Amazon for $25(sale price), they are selling it for $17(regular price)2. Yesterday I purchased 3 bunch of coriander leaves for $1. other places I pay $1.50 for that one branch.3. They also have discounted fresh fruits and vegetables bags for you to purchase for $1. Those are also pretty fresh.

Thought to try this store out since I heard great things about LA Mart. Well much of the fresh fruit I have purchsed was actually no good. Purchsed 3 pineapple whole and all 3 were rotten. Another time I purchased a pomegranate and as I went to go and eat it the inside was overly mushy as the outter parts with the skin on felt firm. So, for me my experience is if it is not fresh cooked or pre-packaged I will not purchase it.

Loved all the fruits and vegetables and fish at excellent prices.

Ive been shopping here for over a year. Spent so much money there, but their customer service is terrible. Their prices are really but I still shop there I buy the fish which is expensive . There was a price next to an item that said it was on special and on salel when I went up to the cashier she showed the managers/ owners they said opps oh well. And dismissed me, no apology nothing, they just said they will not honor it. I will not be going back there anymore. I felt disrespected and unappreciated as a customer.

Vegetables not always fresh, but this place really shines in their dried goods. Really has everything from Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Filipino, Japanese, and American foods, and was even able to find some Asian foods that I couldnt even find in Lotte Plaza, H-mart, and other dedicated Asian stores. Keep it up!

Very convenient Grocery store for us people who likes international foods. My only issue is we have to pay for bags now but the workers and Cashiers are pretty helpful 😊

Good prices on some things like water, but seems like any kind of fruit i get, it goes bad in 2 days or less. Never had that issue before. I guess i want GMO products after all.

Nice selection, especially for international kinds of food and brands. Some of the produce looked a bit tired, other items were great. The store layout felt a little crowded but functional. Didnt have time to look over everything, but definitely interested in going again.

Asian market with inexpensive produce. I mostly go here for veggies and fruits. I can also find a few items for my latin dishes. However a better organization is needed at registry.

This place is like a giant convenience store. Poor selection and high prices. There are better places nearby to get Asian and Latino foods. If you are looking for regular groceries you would be better off going somewhere else. They recently added a fish market and the whole place smells atrocious.

My daughter went to purchase an apple as a quick snack before coming to my job at the local Elementary school around the corner. She was denied entry into the store because she “looked like” a high school student and was not allowed into the store without an adult. She offered to show them her COLLEGE ID as she is a FULL TIME STUDENT at HCC and has already earned her High School Diploma. The clerk ‘guarding’ the door told her “I don’t care, you are not allowed in here”. This is NOT a way to treat potential customers. I will never spend my hard earned money at this store for the way they treated my child.

This place is very affordable. The groceries are not the best quality but OK. They have many vegetables on sale. I can usually get enough food for a week for ~10 dollars. It’s also tax free.

I like this store because it has a lot of things other stores dont. I dont recommend buying your everyday needs because they are a little pricey but perfect for fruits and vegetables meats and poultry and things that you may not find in other stores.

Great place to shop the produce 👍 is always fresh. The meat is priced well. They have very reasonable prices and theres a deal around every corner. The service is quick so even if you have to make a quick pit stop the cashiers will definitely get you in and out.

This used to be our favorite market but today I had a bad experience. They overcharged me for produce. When I told them what was wrong, the clerk got upset and said you complain too much. They need to do some customer service training of the workers and help them learn the products so that they can correctly ring them up.

Price on some stuff are a bit high. Store always so clean and friendly staff.

A very wide variety of grocery and other goods. The produce department was thoroughly stocked. The prices were fair. Definitely will be returning to get basic grocery items and try some new ones!

As reported by other reviews, racial profiling takes place at this location. My son who happens to be, African American, wasnt permitted to enter the store even after showing ID (which absolutely shouldnt be asked of anyone!). The security guard accused him of being too young to enter the store during school hours; implying that my sons ID was fake and that he was skipping school. My son is 20 years old and has never, I mean NEVER had a problem entering a retail establishment before this. I absolutely refuse to shop at this location. And I will tell anyone I know to avoid this store at all cost! Id rather pay the exorbitant prices at Sams Mart down the street than to enter this establishment. In a place like Columbia, renowned for racial tolerance, this place is a definite stain on the citys reputation.

Excellent produce selection and lots of Asian and Latin foods with other essentials at great prices. I like that they have a security guard at the front door. Friendly and helpful staff and the Owner is typically at the store, which I think is great. I’ve made a few quick and delicious dinners using their ready to cook pre-marinated meets. Great Store!

Walked in the store today and was profiled! Told to take off my hood. And then followed thru the store and asked how old I was?! Excuse me? I’m 32 years old which is not their business. Since when are you denied entry to a grocery store! I will never spend another dollar in there!

Ive been to this location plenty of times. I usually grab a couple of items and try different recipes Ive never had in the past. I mainly started coming because of the yellow onions 10 lbs. bag was only 1.99. Within theses weeks they drastically changed the price to the 10 lbs bag being 5.99. They now carry I believe a 3 lbs bag of yellow onions for .99. This defeats the main reason I go here. I cook everything with onions so I will have to make the purchase for this elsewhere unfortunately to get the better deal. I will definitely return but not as often. Over the past few months I gathered plenty of different seasonings and rice. I think them now accepting EBT cards plays a big part with the increase in sales.

Its an international market. What ever you need, they have. Meat department and as of 2020 they have fresh seafood. They are always adding more and more products.

This market has so many different types of fruits and vegetables and so many products but there produce is so so horrible. I would never write a negative review but it’s so out of control most of there products have mold on them and are rotten and smell terrible. This is not safe for consumption. I went there again today and when I got home to cut things they full of mold. This is not safe and they should take immediate action.

The security guard was very rude we got here at 7 50 hours of operations is from 9 am to 8pm we were 10 min befire and he didnt allowed us in he mentiomed tht the store reallt accepting clients until 7 45 but no sign about this he argue and argue and i was trying to call but no one answer thats not a great cistomer service this incident happen today April 11 2020 at 7 50 pm. If this the way you want to treat your customers? This was so inappropriate.

I went shopping here with my mom, brother and sister before thanksgiving. The security guard told my brother to take off his hood from the light gray hoodie he was wearing before entering. He did. He then told us that the owners of the store asked him to follow us around until we left. He seemed really apologetic about it, but proceeded to follow us around while we got our tomatoes and herbs, paid and left. My family isn’t white. I highly think the owners of this store are racist.

Bad experience with their fruits. Purchased some avacado and they were bad inside. Probably in the fridge too long. Grocery stores tend to sell fruit way beyond their freshness period.

International market, seems to especially focus on Mexican and Asian food. Good selection of dry goods, produce looked good. Meat looked ok, fish nonexistent (although there was a counter for it, just it was empty). Not as good as the HMart at 40 and 29 but pretty good for a local place.

Stick to non-perishable items. They have a huge selection and the price is lower than nearby stores. Some of the staff are great, while others are jerks. They have a security guard at the entrance which makes you feel like you’re in the hood.

Workers there are not friendly. They speak openly in Spanish(trash talking others) as if no one else speaks spanish. Happened to me several times.

I loved it. Clean fresh food. Good prices. Real bull if that is your thing. 20 lb bags of rice, flour, sugar, beans, corn ect.. Foods from Asia, Mexico, USA ect.. just go in and look around first. Then you will find what you are looking for. Produce is fresh and priced ok. No fresh fish market yet.
