Havent done much with my horn since college and the staff at Star music repaired one of the valves, re-attached pinky hook, chemically cleaned and greased all the keys. Trumpet feels new again and the staff were really helpful and informative. If I ever need instrument work done theyll be the first people I call!

We were shopping for a trumpet and found our new favorite music store! Wonderful buying experience! We shopped around and Star Music definitely has the best prices. They also have a friendly and knowledgeable staff!!! Thank you for all of your help.

I decided to take piano lessons at the downtown Columbia location. The teacher is amazing. My instructor is Svetlana Royal. She is classically trained pianist and vocal coach. I cannot believe how much I have learned. I am sight reading, playing in time, using both hands, and a pedal after four months. Such an amazing instructor. I highly recommend her.

Rented a drum kit for my daughter for school. Star Music charged us per month. Per contract, we returned the kit May 30, 2017 and have receipt. It is September and they are STILL hitting my credit card each month for the returned kit. My wife went in last month (8/25/17) to have them stop and was told that although the owner was not there, the charges would stop and we would be refunded the wrongful charges. We have a Customer Info Report from Star Music detailing, in writing, the overcharge and charges would stop and we would be refunded. No surprise...another month and a $27 rental charge from Start Music on our credit card. Hucksters! STAY AWAY! Initials MK said would call us back to handle refund (in writing). Of course, that hasnt happened either. Welcome to Columbia, SC folks!

This business is VERY NEGLIGENT when it comes to stopping account charges. I returned my sons trumpet due to it not being used anymore. I was told by the old manager at the Polo Road store that if my son stopped using it, I could return it to the store and end the charges. In AUGUST 2019 I went to return the trumpet and found out that there was a change in management, which didnt appear to have made a difference. In SEPTEMBER 2019, I get another charge notification in my account from them even after returning my trumpet. Called my card company and stopped the payment AND called the Star Music Downtown Location. Spoke to a lady who stated it would be taken care of but NEVER DID! Woke up this morning 10/15/2019 to see yet ANOTHER charge on my account two months after turning the trumpet in. Beware of this issue. Steer clear.

I stopped in here to get an estimate to repair a flute. The head piece that fits into the other piece was badly dented. After a week when I still hadnt heard back from them with an estimate I had to call them. They then had to call me back and about an hour later they called with an estimate of $379 to repair the instrument!! Or he offered to sell me a new head piece for $100. Ridiculous. I had already thoroughly researched this repair and knew approximately what it should cost and this was an obsurd quote.I took it across town to another shop who provided me an estimate within 2 hours of $35 & had the repair completed in 2 days. You cant tell it was ever even damaged. When I told them what Star Music had quoted me he was flabbergasted and stated that the repair took him less than an hour.Do NOT trust this business.

Business is extremely negligent on the retail sales side. managers and employees will often completely forget customer orders, lie to customers, and forget to stop charging for services no longer used.

Best quality vocal lessons south of NY! Very nice professional instructor. If you’re a serious vocalist this is the best place to go!

Came in looking for a Ukulele and Eric was very friendly and helpful. He showed us several options and he tuned one up for a test. He also explained options for lessons. Very nice shopping experience!

Star Music is THE place to go for anything music related! They have friendly staff, a clean store, and competitive pricing. I recommend to anyone in the South Carolina area to go check them out!

The employees are certainly friendly, but its a tiny mom and pop music store... seems like they generalize rather than specialize, so the stock isnt particularly extensive for any one type of instrument. Im a guitarist, so I popped in looking for either a good multi-effects pedal, or a small modeling amp.... neither was in stock, although the guy working assured me that theyll be ordering some more pedals soon. As for the amp selection, I was told that theyre focusing on their music lesson program that they offer, so all they carry are tiny practice amps. I guess the lessons are a better business structure for them than the retail side.... unfortunately, this is why Im forced to shop either at Guitar Center or at the big online retailers.... I wanna support my local music store, but they just cant compete with the stock selection or prices, it seems.

Nasty rude attitude from the woman. She does not know how to communicate or talk to customers. If you can take your business somewhere else, give you one price then try to charge you double.
