Pier 1 promotes a culture of lying to customers! Heres what happened to me: after searching for days, I found a nightstand on Pier Ones website that completed a bedroom set my handicapped mother had acquired. It was the last one in stock. What a thrill to be able to bring a little joy into my moms life and add that nightstand to complete her bedroom! Better yet, I received 10% off and free shipping for joining the Pier 1 Rewards, plus added an online promo code. All of these reduced the price from $699 to $545! I ordered it 8/12/21 and received an email confirming the order which said they would notify me when it was sent. I even checked the website after paying to make sure they were no longer showing the item for sale since it was the last one, and to my relief, saw it was no longer being offered for sale.It all went downhill after that. I checked the next day for the tracking number and though I had received NO notification, the webpage link I was directed to from the confirmation email showed my order had been cancelled. I called customer service and was assured that it was voided, not cancelled, due to a security check they were performing on the order. That has never happened to me before and I buy online all the time. The customer service rep made me verify the billing address on the credit card, something I had already provided when I placed the order. He said he had to get that information to escalate the process and that the item was going to be shipped to me as soon as the process was complete. He said it would take up to 14 hours. Knowing it was the last one, I specifically asked him to promise me it was scheduled to be shipped to me and he assured me it would and that my order was not cancelled. No tracking number ever arrived. I called after 14 hours was up, spoke to another rep and was promised that the investigation was being conducted and that the item was being held for me. All this time, I kept checking the Pier 1 website, and sure enough, they had not re-offered it for sale. The second rep said the first rep was wrong and that it would actually be 48 hours before the investigation would be done. I would definitely receive an email with the tracking number. I asked him to verify the item actually was in stock and he glibly assured me it was and there was nothing to be worried about.Once the 48 hours was up, I had still received no tracking number. I called customer service again and the third rep said he was sorry but the item didnt ship and they did not have any more in stock. He said the item had not been reserved for me during the investigation because they dont do that. I asked why it was gone and he said someone else had bought it. When I told him that was impossible, as the item had been removed from Pier 1s website after I bought it, he backtracked and said that was the most likely reason the item was gone. Clearly, I had been lied to by all three customer service agents. If the investigation was to clear up any fraud concerns, no company in its right mind would fail to reserve the ordered item.My belief is that Pier 1 either never have had the item in the first place or they did not want to sell it for the price I received. Inventory numbers become incorrect when warehouse items are stolen. Pier 1 should have told me up front they did not know if they had the item, or admitted they had offered an item they didnt actually have. Instead they let me & my mom worry about it for days while they lied about what was happening. Because not one of the service reps told the truth, its clear that Pier 1 promotes a culture of dishonesty.I have always loved Pier 1 and I have countless Pier 1 items in my own home: furniture, pillows, decorative objects and tons of tableware to name a few. I will NEVER shop at Pier 1 again and I plan to tell everyone I know what happened to me. And I know how to use social media.
I do indeed understand that the products here are higher end, therefore they have to price the items accordingly. However, I am not a rich ole lady twice widowed ready to drop that kind of money on some decor. So Ill just take my cheap but to hobby lobby. Beautiful stuff here tho. Beautiful. Ill just look at it.
Pier 1 has an AWESOME sale going on right now! There was a decent selection of home goods to choose from. I purchased 4 plates and 2 full sized reed diffusers for $32. Now is a good time to go shopping.
It wasnt the store but rather the employees. I called customer service twice while in the store and was told they couldnt hear me. I hung up and called someone to check if they could hear me and was told that they hear me just fine. The younger gentleman should work heavily on his customer service and communication skills. He acted as if he were bothered by the customers. I will definitely use the location on harbison going forward. No need to spend your money where youre clearly not wanted.
Wish they werent going out of business. If they lowered there prices theyd still be in business
Empty!!! Closing down..30 % off 50 % increased price s...nice folks tho.🙂🏝
I can always find what I need get in and out no problems.
Years ago, I bought many candles and potpourris from Pier 1 and they made my house smell so good. I got compliments from all my visitors. In the last couple of years, Ive bought candles and potpourri for my house and could not smell them at all unless I stick my nose in them. I even bought the bottle of fragrance to pour on the potpourri and that lasted about five minutes. So I will no longer buy any candles or potpourri from Pier 1 - total waste of money!!
If you want accent items, this is one of the best places to go.
This store is a place to buy a gift forThe person who has everything
I have been shopping there for 30 years. So sad to see them as another victim of the internet.
Staff not very energetic at my last visit other than checking out, or handling exchanges. Not helpful when asked for suggestions.
Things here are nice but seem to be a bit overpriced. I would try Kirklands instead.
Friendly staff! New Reed scents. Going back toi. 😍
