Good place to repair a guitar
UPDATE! 03/15/2018: Theres only a few things in this word that are certain. One of those things just so happens to be Mr. Bill Foleys consistent masterful work on electric guitars.Thank you sir for the incredible job on my Jackson Warrior - just amazing workmanship. ******Growing up in D.C. - the guys in my band would always go to Bill Foleys book for setup and repairs. It was our YOUTUBE for guitar repairs back in the day. Who would have thought when I moved to Columbus, OH that I would eventually meet Mr.Bill Foley who was also kind enough to sign my book as well as, do setup for my Gibson Explorer. He is still considered the Artisan of guitar repair till this day. Dont take your instrument to anywhere else. Let the master do his thing and you will see for yourself.
Awesome resource for vintage parts and great place to get work done on your guitar.
I went to the Music Haus because Ive been wanting to get into playing guitar. Visiting the location was an enjoyable first-time experience. Ive never purchased a guitar before, so I wasnt sure what that process entailed. Bill and I chatted about what I was looking to get out of the instrument and he answered my preliminary questions. Then we spent some quality time looking through the impressive selection until I found an acoustic that was an excellent fit for me while staying in my budget. If youre looking for a positive experience to break into the world of guitar playing, Id recommend stopping by here.
I have several guitars new and used and Mr. Foley has done all electronics, fret work you name it, all for a reasonable price. Highly recommend for all guitar needs.
Bill has always treated me fair and done an excellent job on my guitars
No better place to get your gear worked on - period.
Just Fabulous ππ
This is the place to go for musical instrument repair in central Ohio. Iβve been going to the German Village Music Haus for over thirty years. Bill is an amazing craftsman. Iβve had many guitars and other instruments setup and repaired by him and he always exceeds expectations. Highly recommended!
Always a good experience at the German Village Music Haus.
I have always taken my basses to get a full work over every few years, Bill treats my basses as his own. Always the best work, in a timely manner, at a great cost for services rendered. Always up for conversation and knows his stuff... I dont trust my babies with just anyone. Bill is the man.Keith Newsome, 4, 5 and 8 sting bass player.
Got a new bone nut and setup (fret work) done on an ESP LTD 5 string bass and it plays like never before. Effortlessly. Bill did a great job on this and it was worth every penny. Definitely recommend his work to anyone needing instrument repair. Prices are fair as well.
Its a great place to buy gear. I used to take guitar lessons there too.
Long story short, I brought in my guitar to be routed and fit for a Floyd Rose and they completely butchered it. Horrendous work. The routing job was lousy and they didnt even get the scale length correct (24.75).If you need something simple like a switch or a knob installed you might be ok, but these people are NOT competent when it comes to more complicated jobs. Take your guitar to a luthier. The people at this shop are NOT LUTHIERS. I wish THEY would have told me that. Its totally acceptable to refer a customer to a specialist when it comes to these types of things. I still would have came back for all other types of services on guitars. Not now.Update & response to owner/employee: No I am not a troll, I am telling the truth. I got terrible service there and irreversible damage done to one of my favorite guitars and I will never forget it. And when I complained about the job done, I was told that I need to spend more money to pay for damage that should not have occurred. Thats insulting. Yeah, Im no troll, but I am also not going to let you get away with such terrible service without people knowing. People need to know that getting any involved work done at your shop is risky.
I have purchased several used guitars from Bill, 1 electric and 1 acoustic. The acoustic - Bill let me lay it away and pay it off as I couldnt afford at the time. It was a Martin and worth every penny. Did not want to put it on a credit card. Most places lay away is like 90 days. I will admit it took me almost 8 months nickel and diming to pay it off. I still play this guitar frequently and this was back in 2005 when I bought it.All of my many guitars are not complete until I get it set up and add a new bone nut.Bill is the only guy I want working on my guitars !
Bill is the best period!! He knows more about guitars and stringed instruments than anyone I know and hes a great guy to boot!! If I have a gig and need something set up or repaired by a certain date he has always come through for me. If you want excellent, knowledgeable service at a good price, go see Bill!!
Bill is awsome fixed all my guitars took $150 dollar squire and transformed it into a super strat very polite and professional he is the best guys!
Bill does the best instrument work in Columbus hands down. I wont take my basses or guitars anywhere else. It you need a new axe set up or a repair made, go see Bill!
Being from Columbus I always got my needy things from this fine establishment. But after moving away to Florida for 13 years and now in Alabama I always haul a guitar with me when visiting Columbus to have it setup perfect. I trust the fine work from the guys. Been maybe 8 years since they set up my Fender American Buddy Guy Poka Dot. Hasent needed work since. Like butter.
Bill is a super nice and knowledgeable guy. If you need strings for your headless guitar (Steinberger style), this is the only place to get them same day. Cheaper than online even!
Really enjoyed the shop. Great experience. Definition of and old school guitar shop. Absolutely recommend it!
When Bill is done setting up your guitar, it will play like a dream. Every note will be perfectly intonated. While I would agree with a lot of the other reviews in terms of his inventory, thats not why I go there. I take all of my guitars to Bill, and my guitars always sound better than my bandmates, who perform their own setups.
This guy knows his stuff and can absolutely help get you set up!
Pretty dang awesome!
This was by far the worst customer experience I have ever had. I came in looking for advice on what parts to buy for a new guitar I was building, more specifically what parts to buy from them. I was told he didnt have time to give me a college course on this and told me to look on the internet. I was coming to them since they tout having so much experience. It was a completely rude and dismissive statement. I will never go there again and have already told others not to shop there.
Bill is an awesome guy he worked on my Jackson js1 reverse stock dinky about five years ago and it still plays just as good as it did when it left his shop
Bill is definitely a true guitar genus,,,A master and a wizard,,,Thank you for the miracleYou performed on my Gibson les paul
Bill set up my Tele Thinline and it plays great! Intonation, new bone nut, etc. I will bring all my setup work back to him.
Bill set up my 2 electric guitars my Lp tradition and my fernandez strat that I bought from Bill in 1995 And they still play great over 20 years later better than my Gibsons or fenders !
Im still playing my Samick Silvertone electric bass I bought as a disposable unit, but after Bill Foley, Fine Luthier pulled the frets out of it in and put in a highly polished bone nut in 1996, it plays so nice and sounds so good, I got a hard case for it and am listening to it tonight how it just sustains so well! It is definitely Old Reliable! Thanks bill! cant wait to get my hot rod Schecter from you when its done!
Bill is a local treasure, do yourself and your instrument a favor and try him out if you havent already been going to gvmh for your entire life like the rest of us.
