This is honestly my favorite place to be. The staff are always so incredibly helpful and warm, and theres always a wonderful selection of books; some of the things you can find here are just amazing. I hope its here for a very long time!

Grear atmosphere. Staff is really nice and helpful. Books that I never knew existed, as well as a vast variety of subjects.They are very helpful in buying back books too.

Best bookstore in Concord, possibly the entire far east bay! Please support it, especially over certain bigger chain stores. Here youll find a broader selection, a generally more helpful and knowledgeably inspired staff, as well as incomparably lower prices. And yes, its totally okay to get used books as gifts. More than that, youll be far more likely to find something special and/or relevant at a used book store. And they carry the latest bestsellers too, if thats whats youre looking for. The best of all worlds!

As always, one will find treasures. But also, as always, many are rather too expensive. Having sold many books there Ive had to sell some wonderful rare items. One in particular was a full hardcover set of Tails from The Crypt. I received $60 dollars for it. The next week I go in to find in the glass case for $200. Ive always squinted sideways at half Price books since then.

Great way to get rid of stuff in your house and make some $ too. Everyone there is friendly and informative.

A great bookstore with new and old books and more. I still miss their funky store in old Concord it was a taste of Berkeley in the farther East Bay.

So sad..this location is closing. I love this place. Everytime I am closed to the area, I always make a pit stop to check out their amazing selection of books, DVDs, CDs and games. Am so bummed to find out today, 5/4 is their last day....They will have a community event tomorrow and then no more....:(

HPB is my favorite place to get a little cash for one of my more expensive habits - reading. They have good prices on their books, they give good prices for your old books and the staff is super nice! This store is new and its super clean and organized. Would definitely recommend to take a look or take your old books, pops, records and old video game things!

Fun place to hunt for that rare book you may have missed out on. The prices are fair and condition of the books are good. Nice open flow through the store and tons of categories to travel through.

Selling books, they dont give you much money. I actually turned down an offer from them one time. They are very friendly here. This is a much better place to buy anything than it is to sell. Still, a great store, unusual to have bookstores like this place still around these days, I hope they stay open.

Well organized and clean. My favorite section is the dvd and cds. With Best Buy, Target and Walmart cutting back to both dvd and cds, this is my go to place now. Very impressed on how they are all alphabetized and categorized. It makes it easy to shop. I also love how the friendly staff can order or transfer items there for pickup. Plus I can inspect the item before buying once it arrives. The book section will laid out well too. Plenty of parking now that its in the Willows now.

DONT sell your books here, I gave around $80 worth of books and I only got $5. They were in same condition as a new book. Instead, sell yours at a garage sale, to friends, or online on Amazon as a third party seller, that way you make way more money.

Always love half price. Did wait outside because the sign said to wait to be let in. And it was hot outside. Turns out that rule no longer applied. The arrows on the ground seemed to be a little redundant considering the social distancing expectations.

Im so glad HFB has re-opened at the Willows. The space is huge, but clean and comfortable with the same excellent inventory as always. The staff are friendly, helpful, and funny too. Im grateful for access to order books online now that we are in Shelter-In-Place mode as well. Cant wait to return to browse books in person as soon as we can! Thanks HFB for being there.

Its a dangerous place, not just due to radical thought that can be found in some of the pages-as well as entertainment-but because I ALWAYS find something to purchase! And if I cant find something specific myself, the staff is helpful in checking if it is in stock elsewhere!

This is a wonderful store for gently used books and music for everyone. The sales people are friendly and helpful, and easy to find. It is large, very well organized by subject, and full of beautiful books of all sorts. Last time I was there I noticed a lovely and tempting small toy section. They also buy used books and music etc., Depending on condition and other criteria. Its a fabulous store, set apart from the cookie-cutter norm, and if you like books and music you could spend serious time there.

The name is the store is pretty self explanatory. The store offers great deals for just about any book youre looking for. The organization in the store is solid, and while not the best, it is quite easy to navigate yourself around. If you have any trouble, I have found the staff to be very helpful. Overall, I would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for some good deals on books

My whole family LOVES this place! They have almost any book you are looking for, and so many more you didnt even know you wanted! Haha. We frequent this store regularly and my whole family (myself, husband, and 5 boys, ages 2 through 16) always walk out happy. The staff is always very friendly and helpful, too. Its a great place you can get lost in and enjoy every minute of it.

What’s not to love about Half Price Books? Great selection of books, music, movies, board games, RPGs, etc. Clean restroom, friendly staff. I’m happy that they found a new location after they were forced out of the other one.

Great bookstore experience. Large eclectic assortment that changes frequently. They buy books from people and resell them so their prices are always good and the selection is always varied.

I tend to find great cookbooks here, what I call fillers since they close gaps in my shelves. Ive also found fine first editions, out-of-prints and collections that are rare to come across elsewhere. Expanding racks of vinyl, friendly sales crew... and theyll buy virtually everything they sell - hard to find a better store nowadays.

MY favorite place to browse and hang around. I always will find something that I really really want to buy! Good collection of books. My kind of place.Great place to stop by after having a meal in the town area.

Gonna hate to see it close. Great book, Great service, I could and have wondered for hours. There needs to be a law. Leave the tried and true places alone. We need places that are going to force us to think. Take us back to reality, another place besides smart phones and social media.

Well stocked little store. I can always find something I have to read while Im there. I particularly like the selection of gardening books. I can usually find something I must watch in the DVD section. Nice selection of inexpensive gift items like coffee cups, fun bobble heads, blank notebooks and right now a really nice batch of inexpensive Christmas cards to choose from.Friendly staff and easy to navigate shelves.

Really cozy bookstore that had almost all the novels I needed. I needed a particular book they didnt have in stock and they called their partner store and it was shipped to them for me at no extra cost. They also provided me with a call to let me know it arrived. Excellent customer service. Loved it.

I love this place. Every time we are in the area we stop by and check out the current selection of books. They are well organized and have a huge selection of used books. The staff is helpful and friendly, too. Cant beat the prices.

They have a great assortment of books and a lot of little things also like Marvel stuff oh, but the staff needs some customer service skills.Nothing new here lack of training because they seem nice enough that they would want to know what the right thing is to say, in many situations. Low score for interaction with staff, even the one that was quoting my books.

Good place to find used books!

I originally came here looking for a copy of The Prince by Machiavelli. I havent been to a bookstore in many years and I didnt have a good feeling that they would have it in stock. But they did, and I was pleasantly surprised! And for cheap too, around $7. Then when I lost it I returned and they had a copy from a different publisher for even cheaper, around $4. Before buying online give these guys that shot, they might have a copy that you cant buy anywhere else!

Lots of books and games to choose from. Modestly priced and occasional good finds. Average buy back prices, but sometimes low. I really enjoy shopping here, I almost always find something to purchase and read.

I go here every time I’m near it. It’s pretty cozy and a great place to peruse for books. And there’s just a great atmosphere. I love this place. 10/10 would recommend.

They give very generously in their buyback, and have lots of great, unique things for sale! They have a huge selection of video games and electronics, which is what I always search through. They also have a huge selection of records for vinyl collectors, and one of the largest selections of comics Ive seen at a HPB.

Lots of gently used blue ray DVDs. Ended up getting a couple of 3d movies and clay arts and crafts activities for my son for less than 40 dollars. This is a great place to go to save money on fun activities at home.

Great place for book lovers, they have a lot of new books, but are best for used books. They only sell books in good condition, and it can be a gold mine for an older book you are missing. Pricing is not half but always a great deal.

They mentioned on their website that they like art books but they rejected mine. If they dont buy all your used books they will get rid of your used books for you so you dont have to cart them back home. Just be prepared to not make much money on your used books and you will be ok.

The book store was well organized, the staff friendly, and they had a way to search for individual books. OTOH, at least for YA the selection wasnt the widest. But they do buy back books and Id give them 4.5 stars if I could.

Love this place. They have so many great books and fun random gifts. I always spend hours there and come out with more books than I planned to buy.

To appreciate Half Price books, one needs to drop by frequently, since many of the items that they carry are rotated on a regular basis; and since they also have a huge selection of vintage vinyl records, cassettes & CDs, they too, are rotated fairly often. There is also a selection of teaching/learning products for the young ones on your shopping list.

This place is great! It seems like theyve got any book you could possibly want. And at ridiculously low prices too! The staff is usually friendly and willing to point me in the right direction of the book Im looking for.Ive never bought music/movies, but they seem to have a pretty big selection of that too.

Its nice to have a local bookstore where I can bring my books to sell and find some used gems as well. I like the selling process, in that you can bring them in anytime. You do have to wait in the store for them though. Usually it doesnt take too long.
