Let me just say the pancakes are amazing! Everything I had was really good. The waitstaff is super friendly and helpful for a first timer, explaining the menu and suggesting items that you might enjoy. The guy checking you out is also super friendly and suggested what I could try next time.Ill definitely be going back for those pancakes and hashbrowns!!
Ive been to this place four times. Ive taken my staff to this place, so I have a good idea about the food, staff and overall service. The food is consistently very good, the service could be better.Youre greeted at the door, but not with that warm feeling youd expect from a local diner. The staff could learn something by visiting a local Waffle House to observe how their staff smiles with their faces and voices to make their guests feel welcome, relaxed and at home. There are a few women there who openly complain about much of nothing. If you are attentive, you will notice there are several strong personalities working there. The point is they can be heard complaining, and it doesnt seem to bother them, which may mean the management doesnt hold them accountable. The place is in a very nice location with plenty of parking. Parking is wheelchair friendlywith a very short walk to the front door. The decor is nostalgic. The walls are adorned with photos which highlight the past, including picot of past celebrity guests, as well as pictures of the development of the city of Coppell. The diner is laid out in a shot gun style. The kitchen sits mid-way and looks extremely clean. This is where all that deliciousness comes from. This is where the magic happens! The kitchen staff by and large makes this place. The servers are inconsistent. Ive had good interactive servers, and my most recent server behaved like someone who repaired computers before he started working there. Just terrible... but I tioped the dark haired food tech anyway.Checkout has always been fast and pleasant.I would describe the experience as a sandwich. First layer is good, middle layer needs work, last layer is good.
This a nice little gem in coppell it has a classic diner feel with counter top seating and swiveling stools. A nice touch.I had the pot roast bowl and it was perfectly seasoned with homemade mash! Not the icky box stuff! And the portions are very big. The staff was super friendly and the space was very clean! The prices are pretty even across the board so a few things are a bit over price and some things are a great value.I will definitely be back to try the breakfast selection! 😋
I stopped here for a quick lunch after a meeting and was very excited to have several vegetarian/vegan options. I was even more excited when my fantastic waitress said she was a vegetarian and we had a great talk about the options. I was very pleased with the burger and the fries were delicious. Cant wait til work takes me back that way.
Yeah buddy. I LOVE mom n pop diners like this place. Whether it breakfast or lunch (only open till 2) i have NEVER had a bad meal or experience. You will find this jewel in old Town right off main. Breakfast rocks but save your appetite for lunch. Yall really saved my tail in the early days of covid. yall would let me call in my order and pay for it, and then set it outside for me to grab..NO ONE in Coppell went this extra mile for us outside workers. yall flat Rock!!!!!!! Afterwards make you wander thru the farmers market for local treats. lots of parking in back!
This place is everything you want in a classic diner. And if Heather is your waitress you might also get entertainment, she is so funny. I was in town for a show last week and we ate there 3 times. Never disappointed. I recommend the Chicken and Waffles but its all good.
First time here. Loved the atmosphere. Looked like an authentic diner from days gone by. Photos of celebrities, old cars, and old license plates hang on the wall. Music of the era fills the air. Due to COVID, theyve taken the measure of curtailing off (literally) the booths from one another with attractive, yet semi-transparent shower curtains. It actually looks pretty cool. Upon entry, the have a hand sanitizing station and free masks. The waiting area even has designated places for groups to wait. Hand sanitizer at the register. Full menu. Good prices. Fast and friendly service. Look forward to returning to this neat spot in a neat part of town.
We love coming to the local diner! I love the omelets and the French toast! The service is very fast and wonderful. The food is consistently good, and the theme of the restaurant (50s style diner) makes you feel at home. It’s right by the community center and farmers market in old town coppell for easy access. We will keep coming back!
Overall great experience wonderful feeling of having a Local place that know your name and turn off to remember what you usually order very attentive always with a smile
Local Diner is a go-to place for breakfast and lunch. Generally it’s very busy but the wait is not too bad. Everything on the menu is good and I definitely recommend this place.
Great diner food with friendly staff. Great lunch place for blue plate specials.
Great food! Great service! It was almost like having a home cooked meal!
Great find in a neat part of town. Good food and the staff is superb.
So glad we tried this diner! We decided to try this little diner (was about a 30ish minute drive) and we werent disappointed. Diner itself was super cute - very well done. Looked like a cute retro diner. For those worried about covid, there are plastic curtains you can draw closed between the booths, which was thoughtful and they were well done so that it fit into the color theme of the restaurant. You can sit on a stool at the counter or in a booth. The food was great! I had a Texas Burger. Requested Gluten Free bun. The burger itself was delicious (I rarely eat an entire burger when I go to one of these placed and I ate every bite of this one!). Gluten free bun was good - sometime GF are not great. No complaints with theirs. The fries are crispy - like they are coated first. Husband had regular burger, fries and shake - said all were really good.Heather was our waitress and she was great. Can tell she has been there for awhile as she seemed to know the regulars and what they ordered. Great service (c;I would not hesitate to recommend this little jewel to anyone! Cost for 2 burgers with fries, coffee and a shake was just over $30. Little higher than I would normally want to spend for a lunch - however it was so good, I would definitely do it again. (also considering the next day we drove a half hour again to try a Shake Shake and it was same price and terrible!).Thank you Local Diner and Heather for the great service and food!
First time here and I havent been in such a fun, clean and delicious diner in...ever maybe? Cute storefront (looks like a small town, western shop) but inside its 50s diner and retro and yet still modern. The wait on a Sunday noon for 2 was a couple of minutes. The greeter, hostess and waitress were very fast and nice. The food came out in maybe 10 minutes. Loved the menu options, and cant wait to try most of them! I had the breakfast country fried steak with eggs and my husband had the french toast. They were all super delicious! My steak was well (pounded) and not greasy or stringy. Delicious eggs. The french toast was awesome. As an avid cook, I am sure they soaked the bread overnight (or at least think they did) to achieve that level of softness and flavor. CANT WAIT TO COME BACK!! Oh and prices were great!
This was such a great find ...A LITTLE difficult parking my 73 long tractor trailer but the meal was excellent friendly personable service and fun atmosphereThank you so much
Great Vintage atmosphere, good food, great people. I have been coming here for over a year now. Dont forget to have a homespun milkshake.
Just got of a 7am flight looking for breakfast and this place was great! The food was delicious! The staff was very friendly and sweet. The prices are very affordable. I recommend anyone to try it out!
Good food, great staff, been there many times.. will go again
Always great food and excellent service! Lovely atmosphere and wonderful interactions with everyone. Highly recommend for Sunday breakfast or lunch. Great prices and good menu selection.
Fast, friendly, and family like service. This cozy little diner is a great pitstop when you have an hour to grab lunch and want to sit down. Everything Ive had so far has been great. Highly recommend the chili as a side as well.
Fast and excelent service.Good.breakfast plates..Coffee... great taste..
I take my family to this lovely spot often! This is my favorite spot to have a bite. I go there at least once a month. The food is very tasty, the workers are professional and the prices are decent. I like going in this spot to have a tasty dinner.
We were in town for the weekend and found this place after eating dinner up the street. We liked this place so much we ate breakfast there both Saturday and Sunday! The food is great and the staff is very friendly and its nice to eat in an old style diner! We be back next time we visit Dallas!
Pancakes were very good! Friendly people. A good dine in experience.
Good service and I love their small portions menu items. Awesome way to start the day. Yummy waffle and perfect cooked over medium egg.
Great value. Good place to grab a quick bite
Excelent service, is like homemade food plus the staff is super friendly
Went for breakfast and man they are GOOD...! LOVED their Biscuits and Gravy...people there are very polite also... definitely coming back...!
Great food, great atmosphere and overall a very wonderful experience. Randall I believe was out waiter and he did an excellent job making sure we were taken care of!
Great place, reliable good food with nice folks. The Covid barriers fit right in with the classic Diner decor and work to reduce the noise also!
Amazing i had Texas burger and was it amazing there restaurant felt like i was in back to the future i recommend
Meet a group of 7 men every Thursday morning and have so for over 10 years or so. Great place, good food, pleasant wait staff!
Great local stop with the typical food variety you would see in most diners. The ambiance is quite hospitable and the decor is fitting of a 50s style diner. The staff is very friendly, helpful and welcoming, which makes the overall experience very memorable!
Great service and comfort food
Best diner for wholesome food in DFW area. The service and prices are great.
Everything Ive ordered from this has always been overly wonderful. The food is amazing, the service is immaculate, and the atmosphere is just lovely. Will return 💖
The service was fantastic, the prices were a little high for breakfast, but the food was well with it!!
Lovely waitstaff delicious menu. Family friendly a plus
Randall was our waiter and he was excellent! Food was delicious, decently priced, and plenty of it. Biscuit and sausage gravy was particularly tasty but everything was good. Very clean too. They obviously take pride in their work and ingredients.
Had amazing breakfast! Classic diner feel
The food here is delicious and the customer service is amazing! love it ❤
The staff is amazing and the food is great! We visit every chance we can.
Great service, good food.
Great food and staff.
Great food, great service. Pricey for breakfast but really good.
My favorite place to eat in all of the US
Awesome 50 style cafe very clean food is good
It is not best but ok place to eat. Service is ok. I was there on Saturday around 11.30 pm. It was busy. They should put some tables outside. I had nuty pancake with scramble egg and Turkey sacuase. 1st cup of Coffee was good after that they add extra which doesnt teast good
Really good food, friendly staff, and hot coffee. They manage to capture the old time diner aesthetic but still feel modern.
Staff is very friendly, food is delicious
Very tasty, high quality, and a lot of food for the money (got the chicken and wafflets to go). Looking forward to trying other items.
I wish I could give more stars our sever gave 10 star service. The breakfast was so amazing it took me back to my grannys country breakfast when I was a little girl.
Good food friendly staff
Great food! Speedy and quality service. Fair prices.
Excellent service and the food was great!
Food is always great! Hot and delicious. Today, was pancakes and bacon. A+. Also, if your a veteran, a 10% discount.
Excellent food and awesome service every time. Super cute decor as well. Try the banana milkshake!
Ham, Grits top notch. Eggs (sunnyside) were spot on with thin crisp edge from frying. Great Service!!!
Cold toast without butter, warm coffee, bacon fried earlier in the morning, slow service. Nothing like I expected. First and last time there! I had really looked forward to going there, too. The decor is cute.
My coworkers and I have been regulars here for years. The staff always recognize us and give us excellent service, whether we are a large group or just a few. We love the chicken tenders, fries, mac and cheese, chicken salad melt, the fried okra, and also the shakes. :) We typically arrive just before 12 for lunch and almost never have to wait, regardless of the day of the week. They are usually busy when we leave, so definitely beat the rush by coming before noon.
It is a good little diner with good food for the money.
Very amazing place to eat! Heather is a wonderful friendly waitress.
Decent spot for an ok breakfast. Veggies in migas were a little undercooked for my taste, overloaded with too much cheese. And, the coffee was a little week. Neat spot though, definitely give it a try!
This place is obviously one of the most attractive restaurants in the area. Anytime I come to this place I am awfully happy. They hold their high standard service and the topmost level of meals they give. You definitely will enjoy this this restaurant. Warmly recommended.
Food and service always good here. I appreciate the way they placed shower curtain barriers between booths for social distancing. They did a great job at making it blend right into the decor too!
So this place is pretty cool. 50s diner feel pretty much just breakfast perfunct, friendly service. Prices are good right about what you would expect for the area and the fare. No frills just straight forward and I cant take away stars for that so.. good!
Nice clean local diner in the Coppell area. Friendly staff, quick service, and good quality food.
Enjoyed the retro restaurant look and feel.Been so many years since I had eaten there years ago.The town has changed so much in 25 yrs.Customer service was excellent and the food was 👍.Stop by and see why theyve been around 35 yrs.
If youre looking for casual, classic diner eats in a well maintained and unique town square environment, this is the place to go. My wife and I went for breakfast and love it. The classic design made it a nice departure from other local restaurants and presented an enjoyment that you can only get by ordering breakfast at a diner. The wait staff was friendly and proactive. They were friendly in the way people used to be and obviously knew some of their clientele by name. My chicken and waffles was excellent. I expected the grits to be creamy cheese grits, but thats not the classic way grits are made so thats my fault for building that expectation. We plan to go back many more times. Perhaps for lunch or dinner to try out their milkshakes! Highly recommend this place!
Nice family owned restaurant! Great selection for breakfast. I went with chicken fried steak, which was pretty legit! Theyre ma n cheese is pretty darn good too! Seems like they have a lot of regulars, so they must be doing something right!
Great service, great food, great COVID prevention protocols. 💕
1st visit. Very friendly staff. Excellent service. Nice sized portions. I will return to take pictures for a better review.
Great shakes and some of the best food we have eaten anywhere.
My first and likely only experience with Local Diner was very disappointing. When I was told corned beef hash was Hormel canned variety, I opted for the country potatoes. Ive never met a potato I didnt like...until now. They were mealy and mushy little flavorless squares. Obviously, they were previously frozen, and not revived with hot oil or enough cooking of any kind. I can produce such a meal at home. When I pay restaurant prices for a cook, I expect the food to be fresh and good.
Local Diner has always been my favorite place to go! I love everything about it! The decor was adorable! The service was great! The staff were delightful!
Our breakfast was great. I like my eggs well done and dry. And my eggs were perfect. Our waitress was so friendly. Did her job with speed but didnt make you feel rushed.
Solid diner, your money is better spent here than say, Dennys. Affordable, tasty, home cooked, comfort food, and its a local business instead of a chain. I recommend the chicken fried chicken or steak breakfast.
Even through this pandemic the quality of their food and service never diminished, my wife and I love this place.
Awesome food and services
I eat in this spot a lot since I work nearby. I got to say their service is always good and they keep the place clean constantly. Prices are convenient and they serve big portions.
Great Place for breakfast (and lunch). Old school diner feel from head to toe. A popular early morning destination for locals.
Great Service! Thats always #1 concern. Very friendly and family oriented. Food was very good as well.
