We stayed in Cortez, CO on our way to Mesa Verde and I looked up a bakery to stop at. The Pie Maker had great reviews and looked friendly! They were open for order pickups on Saturday, we were there on Tuesday. I reached out before we left on our road trip and they stayed in touch with me and we arranged a time I could pick up our order. The mini strawberry-rhubarb pies are great you’ll taste both flavors! The mini apple pie crumble is crunchy and there’s a little extra cinnamon kick with the apples. We also got some cookies. The molasses cookies were awesome, and the peanut butter cookies deserve a big glass of milk! Excellent customer care and friendly shop!

Very friendly local coffee house with cold brew coffee infused with nitrogen - amazingly smooth and tasty! They have a light menu with bagels, sandwiches, quiches, and sweet baked goods. And of course they make excellent pie.

Really lovely bakery and Cafe where everything is house made using many local and organic ingredients. No espresso machine but several house made cold brew options on a nitro tap as well as teas. My bagel was pretty good, I would have preferred more toasting, and the green chilie cream cheese was v tasty. I ended up blending the vanilla and honey cold brews for a unique and delicious eye opening drink.

I drive 100 miles for their products. Before you judge, out this way, 100 miles is a quick drive for the most of us. No pie in Gallup comes close. Not a one. Reasonably priced as well.

I purchased the only pie they had left which was a cherry chocolate pie. Not what I really wanted. It was to die for. I did not know cherries and chocolate could blend so well. I highly recommend it.

The only thing more delightful than the pastries is the owners. Such amazing people!!! But ok, the pastries are friggin’ amazing too. Worthy of a big city expensive bakery, this very fairly priced bakery delivers VERY delicious goods in such a lovely little town. I was just passing thru on my way to the parks but will forever make a detour anytime I’m near. Not to be missed!

Dont miss this great little boutique bakery! The cream scones (cranberry) were wonderful! Others in my party had the bagel sandwiches and said they were also great! Oh, and REALLY good coffee!! Service was friendly, helpful and patient as my friends asked questions about different sandwiches. We regretted not getting the Hand Pies for later while we were hiking on the mountain. Go early in the day for the best selection....after all, it is a bakery and when things are gone...theyre gone!Ill definitely stop here again when I get back to Mesa Verde.

Had a great breakfast. Wonderful place. Great crust on the pie and quiche. Good soup. Only wish the selection on sweet pie was more than one type. I understand though because its off season and a random Wednesday. The owners are really nice and kind. Everything is homemade. The coffee is great too. All in all a fantastic experience. Highly recommend.

Small, friendly bakery with small but well made selection of baked goods. Bagel, egg sandwiches, and quiches. Good, local coffee from an urn, espresso, and 3 types of nitro cold brew. Everything was good & the service was friendly. Chess set & trivial pursuit. Small, intimate, casual, bright, fun. Good service.

I went on s strong recommendation but was disappointed. Pie crust was tough and could barely cut with a fork. Almost needed a hammer for heart-shaped pieces on top.. Lemon filling may have been thickened with flour as it was pasty and lumpy. Nice citrus flavor but the texture was off.The potato donut was good. Stuffed focaccia were good as well. But the pie was a definite thumbs down.

I ordered the lox bagel and a cinnamon bun. The bagel was good but the tomatoes were about 2 days too old. When I got home I saw the cinnamon bun was very small, unlike the ones in the front of the display case, which were so large I was going to share eith a friend. Very disappointed. For 8.50 I should get fresh tomatoes and the bait and switch cinnamon bun was just sad. Save your money

I have heard many good things about your bakery, but cant visit there myself as Im 85 and have walking problems. I did try one time but the entrance is very bad for the handicaped -- not even is a railing available. Ive been given breakfast treats by visiting friends and they have been excellent. Sorry cant visit personally but while I still drive to City Market I no longer enter buildings which dont have handicap access.

The food looks great but when my boyfriend and I came, they were out of eggs, salmon, and well most everything at 10am. The only real options they had left were pork type meats and one quiche left. I cannot eat pork so we ended up having to leave but I hope to actually try their food someday soon so I can say how it all tastes!

Delicious!!! Go you wont regret it! We had three plus pies at this place and everything was fabulous!! Strawberry rhubarb with a crumb top that melts in your mouth, blueberry apricot(yummy!), and lemon pucker a delicious version of the bottom of a lemon meringue. They also have coffee on nitro. The owner was so sweet and knowledgeable. Full disclosure- they are a small place so sit with someone you might not know. They rotate their pie selection. Small and quaint it may take a few minutes to get your food. If you go here you are gaurenteed to have delicious food that makes your mouth happy that you chose to enter the doors.

The Pie Maker is a great spot for coffee in Cortez. The staff is courteous and efficient. We only stopped for coffee but decided to ry one of their savory pies. They are phenomenal. Driving from Oregon to New Mexico, I stayed the night in Cortez and, hoping to find a good bakery, stopped here. The coffee was strong and I ordered an apple, pine nut, green chile hand pie and hopped in my car to head south. Wow!Excellent crust, perfect filling. So good, I wish I could have turned around and purchased more for the road. I made a point to stop again on my return trip. The coffee was just as strong and delicious, and I bought a different hand pie—more perfection.Stop at this new bakery, buy a lot, and wave to the three crows clustered up in the corner. A great little bakery.

Having since moved here a couple years ago, Pie Maker has been the one place in Cortez that has given me a reminiscent taste of some of my favorite spots in the Austin and Dallas areas. Their artsy and cozy vibes pair perfectly with their farm-fresh, homemade bakery selections.Especially the spud nuts! Mercy, if you find yourself in town on a Friday or Saturday, go getcha some!!
