A great experience! My brother wanted to pick up a new guitar and we saw them come up on Google. Very knowledgeable about all brands and styles of guitars, very helpful with picking out which one my brother wanted without any pressure at all to buy, and not to mention he was extremely nice. I highly recommend Extraordinary Acoustics to anyone looking to buy.

Purchased an Alvarez MD350 Glossy All Solid Wood MasterworksI wish I could give more than 5 stars. The guitar is wonderful. It’s what I’ve been looking for and then some. However, the purchase is all the more satisfying due to the extraordinary care and service provided by John. I sincerely hope that I can do business with this gentleman again. Thank you so much!

Ive been meaning to write a review of Johns service for weeks now. Several months back, I found myself searching for a new guitar, and not being knowledgeable or accomplished, I was delighted to find myself in Johns good hands. Hes a passionate guy, personable and very forthright; hell shower you with information and enthusiasm, but then guide you patiently through all the choices...and at the end of the day, sell you a fine guitar at a very fair price. I ended up buying a Taylor proto from him that continues to dazzle me...its everything he promised! Thanks

This is a new storefront in Philomath but the proprietor has been in the business for years. I have purchased two high-end guitars from John including one from the new shop. I continue to be impressed with his passion for the craft of guitar making and playing and his patience in supporting my specific player requirements. Happy customer!

I have to tell everyone looking for a guitar to STOP AND READ THIS. It is important! I bought a special edition 914ce sassafras from John Taylor a year ago and LOVE it! I have always felt I got a great deal on it and have stayed in contact with John ever since. NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART...I have been looking for the perfect 12 fret ever since I hastily bought a Les Paul standard to find I am not a electric guy. John continued to educate and show me all the options he has. My heart was set on the new special edition 812 from NAMM. John, not having exactly what I wanted, not only checked into seeing if he could acquire one to sell me, but directed me to a dealer close to where I live to see if they had one...(WHAT??)...They had 2. He talked me though what would be a good deal should I try to purchase from them. Turns out, They where great to work with and the deal was exactly what I wanted darn near to the dime! THIS IS WHY YOU BUY FROM A GUY LIKE JOHN. He would rather help customers get what they want and sacrifice the almighty dollar than do anything else. You can trust everything this man says and be confident that you have found the right place to buy. I will continue to go to John for everything I can and personally advocate for him and his business relentlessly. THANK YOU JOHN! YOU REALLY ARE THE BEST!

John has gone above and beyond what anyone could hope for by providing me his wisdom, experience and assistance to help resolve an unfortunate problem I have experienced with my Taylor 814ce Dlx caused by a Taylor dealer miles away. Thank you John for your help. John is a man of integrity with a sincere desire to provide World Class Customer Service.

I have visited guitar stores from New York to the west coast and rarely have I seen the passion that John Taylor possesses. His knowledge of Taylor guitars is second to none. While visiting Philomath, OR for my Daughters wedding, I stopped in for strings for a borrowed acoustic my son was planning to play at the ceremony. Within an hour I walked out with a new Taylor. This ceremony was outdoors and the guitar was played un-amplified. As I escorted my daughter to the front I could hear every note. My son ended his playing on cue with a flourish of bell like harmonics that truly set the stage. This is a great guitar.John would have been happy just selling me pack of strings but do you think I would have been this happy? Thanks John, I will be back and we can sit down and play a little.Casey QuinnChicago Il.

Ive been learning to play for the past couple years on a Taylor GS-mini and had been flirting with the idea of upgrading to a full-sized acoustic. I bought and returned a couple solid-top laminate guitars from the corporate guitar store (you know which one Im talking about) before I started looking at used solid wood acoustics, hoping to get a better bang (and better quality sound) for my buck. I ended up testing out an acquaintances 2010 Taylor 714ce. I thought the sound was nice enough but it wasnt really speaking to me. I decided a professional opinion would help, so I reached out to John to see if hed be willing to evaluate it. John had little to gain from this but readily agreed, and spent some time playing the guitar and looking it over, noticing several things that I had missed as a casual observer. He never discouraged me from buying it, but rather gave me what I felt was his honest opinion on its value and its history, and complemented its sound and playability. He also did a set up on my GS-mini and it sounded and played WAY better than it ever has before.I could have walked out of the store then and he wouldnt have been a dime richer, but I think thats just the type of person he is. He genuinely wants to to share his love of acoustics, and pair people up with the right instrument for them. He seems to have a wealth of experience with, and knowledge of, acoustics, especially Taylors.I had known going in that I wasnt jiving with the 714 so I took some time to play what John had in the shop... and before I knew it minutes turned into hours. Yes, hours. John spent literal hours with me, patiently listening to me play, learning about my playing style and what might suit me, and gently guided me towards instruments in my price range that fit my needs (as well as some instruments way outside my price range that are still fun to try out!). I feel that he was honest with me throughout and I generally felt little sales pressure from him. At the end of the day I walked out with a new 312ce 12-fret LTD at a very fair price that Im absolutely in love with and cannot put down. I get the sense that if I ever have any trouble with it John will bend over backward to make it right, and I think thats really the extraordinary part about Extraordinary Acoustics. Its a small shop with a proprietor who really cares about providing excellent customer service and making sure that if you do buy an instrument from him, youre buying the one thats right for you.

I seen a used Taylor on the web for sale by John Taylor at Extraordinary Acoustics in Philomath, OR. I told him I was driving 180 miles round trip to look at it. Although it was today, a holiday weekend, he agreed to open shop for me. His knowledge was so extensive on not only on Taylor guitars but all acoustic guitars. I learned quite a bit from him in 90 minutes. And as my better half said, that I have met my match with somebody who has the gift to gab.All in all, customer service was outstanding, price was very good and I have found another guitar store to look for my needs if I cant find them locally.Thank you, John for being perfect in your description of the used Taylor prior tp my driving down. I would recommend your store to anybody.
