UPDATE: got a call from salon after my review, they offered to return 110$ which was charged for glaze with no effect, they have also offered me a complimentary haircut so they can give me more layers in haircut. I’ll be taking that haircut soon. But I would advise to read my original review and take care of certain things if they are a first timer there.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Not happy with the overall experience they provided after charging 360$.I was told by two different hairdressers that charges are 220$ for haircut and single process hair color.when i got the bill there was an additional 110$ for a color refresher, this is 50% EXTRA of the initial Cost i was told twice!! on asking what is that, they werent very clear, just said it was done for shine and color boost, I have black hair and wanted grey coverage, for which single process color was done, they said they would add some color to it so it gives a minor hue, the same color was applied on my hair since the color was just kept besides me in a bowl, in two steps in a gap of 15 minutes, they just said that second application was what i was charged additional 110$ for. No one told me that, and honestly, my hair is still black, since I didnt want any bleach to be used, shouldnt the hair dresser tell me that i would be charge DOUBLE of initial cost told to me ? For no visible change in look? I would never have opted that, I honestly feel it was not even done, same color was being applied in two separate steps, then it was charged as a tier3 hairdresser whereas it was done by an assistant hairdresser who would be tier 1, color went inside my ear as well, which i cleaned later using ear bud. After haircut, my face clothes all had loose cut hair, they dont even bother to brush that out of client!Also I wanted layers in my haircut, my hair was styled well and it looked good then, but after 2 days when theres no styling, I hardly see any layers, except for the bang at top that I requested.Hairdresser was working on two clients at same time and I really feel she just rushed my haircut and covered that up with styling. Make sure that you dont settle for this when paying this much.See the picture, my hair color for which i was charged 220$ so it looks burgundy, it’s still black.I feel totally ripped of 360$ i paid, i was charged 50% extra without telling and no visible change! Im not going back.
Rachel gave me the best hair cut in my life. Everyone at Gumdrop is super sweet and excellent at their jobs. Ask for Jackie to blow dry your hair, BEST assistant there ;)

I just started going to Gumdrop for my cuts and color. As I sat waiting for my color to finish processing I quietly observed the salon. Everyone was busy doing their job and helping each other. It was a hive of activity that exuded a sense of happiness. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and professionalism. I love my cut from Joe and my color from AJ. I highly recommend Gumdrop.

Addie was great! For 5 years I have not had a cut I was happy with! Seemed like people were afraid to cut my hair! I would leave salons after paying couple of hundred dollars and not even visible to the eye I had just had a cut! That changed on when I picked this salon out of no where and took a chance and I am so happy I did! I love my layers my hair looks great! Pricey, but worth it! I moved to Montclair and was told for the best haircuts go to Gumdrop. I see Joe and he is amazing. Probably the best hair cuts I have ever had have come from him!
It was my first time and i had a great experience. The place is very quite and clean, the staff is very friendly and would make anything to make you comfortable.I had a balayage in another place and i had hard time accept it. Anthony helped fixing this and gave me the look i wanted at the first time. He was able to understand exactly what i am expecting and phrase it in a very clear way.He is experienced and dedicated to his work.
I adore Andros 😍 I first saw him this summer after the salon been reopened for a month or so to get my copper color job refreshed. The color turned out STUNNING, and I rebooked for another appt just before my elopement, which also turned out beautifully! Andros is really chill, and fun to talk to when I’m feeling chatty but also easygoing when I need to just zone out on my phone.The salon provided medical masks to wear during my service which I was very grateful for (so mine wouldn’t get ruined!). The salon itself is very lovely inside, very clean and not over-decorated. Appointment was easy to make, waiting area was comfy.
Joe did awesome job. Not like other places you go and stylist does whatever they want. He actually listened to me. Highly recommended
Nico is by far the best hair stylist I’ve ever been to in my life. She is a consummate professional whose artistry is unmatched. She is so kind and lovely to spend time with, and as a newbie to dying my hair, she made me feel so calm and comfortable. She honestly has me as a client for life now, because I have never loved a haircut as much as the one she gave me, and I know I’ll also always be in good hands whenever I want to experiment with fun colors.
Nicos the best hairdresser! Not only is she super nice and accommodating, but shes got a lot of skill in cutting, styling, and dying that make you come out looking your best everytime you leave her chair! I predominantly went to Nico for her hair coloring skills with Manic Panic, but Ive gotten my hair cut with her as well and left super satisfied! She follows directions and asks you what you want along the way, making sure she doesnt do anything youre not cool with first.Nicos my go-to stylist now and I wont go to anyone else :D
Ive been having my hair cut with Joe. He always takes his time and listens to what I am looking for out of my cut, and then always takes it. Step further and directs you to a more modern or edgy take. I get compliments on the shape everywhere I go and I definitely feel less basic. You can tell he is a master of his craft!
Gum drop is the best!! Casie does my color and styling and she is a wonder with the blondes! Salon is always super clean and they’re following Covid restrictions, i felt super comfortable! Highly recommend

Went to nico with box red.. one of the most challenging colors to get out. but she worked her magic and made me blonde! beyond happy with how it turned out and would tell anyone to go to her! 10/10 definitely!!
I went there because the reviews indicated its the place to be when you want to make a big change to your hairstyle, and Im SO happy I did. I usually go to cheap places, but I wanted a good stylist for my new pixy cut, and thats exactly what I got. I love my new look!

I got my hair done at Gumdrop a few days ago by Marissa. She was absolutely amazing. My hair took several hours to do and she worked hard. It was my first time dying my hair blonde and short and she completely nailed the look I wanted. I trusted her to dye my hair the right blonde for my skin color and I couldnt be happier. Thanks, Marissa! All of the staff was incredibly nice.
