First time at The Freeze & absolutely had a great experience. The Guy that took our order (wish i could remember his name) was awesome,very personable. I think he was the owners nephew maybe...? But anyway he made our experience there that much better!! Absolutely will be back. Got the calico kit kat,cheese fries & birthday cake dipped swirl cone (asked for it in a bowl cause i knew it was gna be a messy one lol) overall great experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 stars!!

The Freeze is the best ice cream place Ive been to my whole life I love everything about it. The cheese fries are so good. The ice cream is a perfect texture; Ive never found any ice in it at all, so thats really good. I love all of the creative signs and names for the ice cream specials. Every one I have tried are good. The blitz is a really good too. The cookie dough topping is my favorite, its so good. I also like all of the options they have to put in your blitzes because I do know some people who really like putting fruity candies in ice cream and other stuff like that so I like how the Freeze offers those too.

What you would expect from a good old fashioned custard stand.Large portions, so kids are covered in melted ice cream on those hot summer days. They do offer large cups for those who prefer to avoid sticky children.Very nostalgic, highly recommend.

Staple of the community. Summer isnt complete without at least one stop at the Freeze! They have so much more than just ice cream. Hand drawn menu pics are such a vibe!

Always amazing! Always packed with customers in summer. So expect a line in the evening hours. Best to go in mid day! I suggest you try the chocolate malt with marshmallow 😋 delicious

If you are looking for a nice frozen treat that wont break the bank please come here. You can get all sorts of different frozen custard and theyll even walk it out to your car.

The Freeze is a Crystal Lake landmark. Lots of memories of great conversations with my kids sitting in the old train car that used to be next door to it.. I have to say we stopped visiting it as much after that train car was removed. 😭

This little gem is amazing!!! I am not a big ice cream person but the freeze had so many great options. I heard they had cheese fries so of course we had to try them. Ive heard that their other food options are delicious too. We ordered the dirt road a chocolate dipped vanilla ice cream cone, a scoop of vanilla with sprinkles, strawberry shortcake and a small cheese fry. All of this was only around $23 which is a great price in my opinion. Everything was perfect and we cant wait to go back!! They had plenty of picnic tables for outdoor seating as well.

Good soft serve, the sodas and malts are awesome!! If youre hungry, the cheese fries are fantastic, and the pork tenderloin sandwich is one of the best Ive had in a long time. Expect a 10 -15 min wait on the weekends to order, but its worth it!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

My daughter and family live in Crystal Lake. I visit from Az. every year and for 16 years this has been the place that our family loves to go. Always new things on the menu and such a welcoming place.

Great tasting chocolate ice cream, and rich hot fudge. The runny cheese sauce, thinner shoestring fries, and just the right amount of salt, made cheese fries another item I will be ordering again! The Dirt Road was very rich and delicious. Great job to all who were working!!!

There were at least 10 families waiting in hot sun for ice cream for approx 25 minutes may have been longer, while they trained a girl to make everyones treats. Train when not busy dont let your customers wait like that! There were a lot of little kids. I am an adult and was feeling like leaving.The woman training was completely oblivious to how many were waiting.Next time take care of the people then worry about training. The people waiting are the ones keeping you in business! Also in the slush floats add double the flavoring and ice cream!The best part was a rude teenager standing in back of line walked up to front of line and met friends and stayed there and ordered ahead of everyone else waiting! It wasnt a very nice experience.

Ive passed this place for like 20 years and never had a chance to stop in until a few days ago! Delicious treats and they dont skimp on the toppings. I had a beach bum, which was twist ice cream with hot fudge, brownies, caramel and cookie dough big portion I couldnt finish it all! Worth every calorie lol!

Great icecream and atmosphere. There’s no indoor seating and it can be on the pricey side if you aren’t just planning on a cone, but absolutely worth it. Lines move quickly and the customer service is great.

Their food and ice cream are amazing! Me and my family have been coming here for about a year now and we are never disappointed. Everyone’s super nice, and it’s never really crowded. The reason I’m giving three stars is because their things a little overpriced. Me, my mom, and my brother went their and we each got one thing, and the price came out to be about 15 dollars. Other than that this place is somewhere you should definitely go to if you get the chance!

Always an exceptional arrangement of unique sundaes and frozen delights here. We love the delicious variety of toppings and dips for their cones. The fries are pretty awesome, too. Generous portions, including their pup cups for doggo friends. Highly recommended by my whole family.

Weve been going here for years. Amazing ice cream with a ton of different flavor combinations. The smores blizzard is my favorite, its spectacular! Prices are fair and service is pretty quick. Could be more seating but they dont have a lot of space to work with so you just have to make due.

I love the freeze but no one was wearing mask or social distancing besides myself or the employees. The freeze has been around for forever. They should be doing the proper steps to keep their community safe.

Ice cream was great, kids liked it. They forgot one item on our order and when the kid tried to ask politely the lady looked right at her then she slammed the window on her. I had to ask her for the item. Beside the fact they could be friendlier (many kids around) it was a decent experience.

Out of towners looking for a late night snack..when I arrived there were probably about 6-7 groups of 2 or more in front of me. The line moved quickly and I was in and out within 15 minutes! Pleasant service as well. Lots of options. I got the calico kat and my husband got a strawberry, banana, pb milkshake ! Hoping to return again and try some food before we leave the area !

Came here when I was a kid (many moons ago). Still the best hangout place with great ice cream! Took my child and he now is in love with it too!

Great place on summer days, could use some more seating as it is a popular location when warm, maybe instead of a bench along side of building could add a standing counter to allow eating other food options(burgers/fries, etc). Everything weve tried is great including the banana split, unique menu with fun and tasty options.

The freeze is a local ice cream place like you dont see very much anymore. Its local, very reasonably priced, and delicious. They usually staff the place with high school kids as well, which is nice, some there doesnt seem to be a lot of opportunities for kids to work anymore. So, in total, come for the Ive cream, stay for the feel of the local small business that is increasingly rare in this world.

Its hard to find good, old-fashioned soft serve ice cream anymore. There is a Dairy Queen in the area, but this local place is a favorite all over town where they serve it up with all the fixings. Its closed in the winter and many people anticipate it opening every Spring. On a hot day, it can get really busy, but its worth it if you have the time. Theres regular food as well. I only go for the ice cream.

This place is a local landmark, Ive been going here since I was little and nothing has changed but some of the menu items. The service is always fast, and it is good quality food. I always look forward to coming here during a hot summer night.

Just the first of many trips to The Freeze this year. I got a chocolate malt, and my granddaughter got a vanilla cone dipped in blue raspberry, also known as alien blood. Generous portions, and excellent as always.

I was walking with my fiance on a whim just checking out our little downtown area. Found this place and definitely this is going to be an ending spot for a lot of date nights. They have a lot of great different kinds of ice cream. And they just have some hypnotic looking Blends and fruit mixes. One that comes to mind just cuz I saw someone else get it was I believe it was a cayenne pepper and mango type of drink where its like mango sorbet with chopped up mango and cayenne pepper all over it. it looked scary but intriguing.

Wonderful summer stop. They are closed in the winter ~ so enjoy while available. I have been enjoying an ice cream from here for a couple decades. :) Always pleasant and yummy, well worth the couple bucks.Update 8/19/18 ~ I believe the freeze is now open year round. 🙂

Not sure the reason ~ but every time weve been here this year/season ` there are very short or no lines. In past years you could easily wait 30min to place the order and get the ice cream.
