I have been with them several years, it was a bumpy start. Now they do an excellent job. Today my furnace had stop running the night before. I called them at 7:30 and Dwight had someone at my house and fixed my 8:30. Dan, Conrad and Carol have also helped me in the past when things just werent going great for me.
I would have given “0” stars had there been an option!I called and scheduled an appointment over a week out with Dwight for a new installation of a 500 gallon propane tank. After waiting well over two hours past my scheduled appointment time I called Southern States Culpeper, VA and when Dwight got on the phone he said I had an appointment with you this morning, I said yes he said I lost your information so I was unable to call you! REALLY YOU LOST MY INFORMATION???? That’s great business right there!!!I took off work for this appointment and YOU LOST MY INFORMATION??!!
This company is so amazing! There were so great to work with and very helpful for this situation I was in! Thank you thank you!
Excellent quick pump service, I dont have to leave my bike and walk inside to prepay for Non ethanol gasoline.
If youre looking for lack of service and a company that doesnt care one bit for you as a customer, Southern States is the right provider for your propane needs. We inherited Southern States Culpeper when we bought on new home, and were at first impressed by their low price, but came to understand that they were a case study in getting what you pay for. Twice in three years in the middle of the winter our tank was allowed to run dry because their billing system showed our account as passed due. Both times it was only when we called to ask what had happened that they realized they had made an error. An occasional accounting error I can accept, and I let the first time slide because, hey mistakes happen and they made it right. But when there is absolutely no notification that were in danger of being left without heat in the middle of winter, and when there is no effort made to do the right thing and get the customer what they need, than I can no longer accept it as just something that happens and am forced to take my business elsewhere. For me, the last straw was when I called them on a Saturday afternoon to inform them that, for reasons unknown to us, our tank had run empty and got no answer at the office phone number, despite their advertising 24 hour emergency service. Next I tried their on-line form, but that only promised someone would be in touch within 24 hours. As a last resort, I started emailing every email listed on the website begging someone to contact me. Even then I had to write twice before someone finally called me.Dan, who according to the website was their dispatcher / department manager, finally called and from the start of the conversation made it clear that he considered the call to be an inconvenience. He could not have cared less about the fact that the company had left us without heat. Instead he sat on the phone insisting there was nothing he could do because our account showed us as passed due. I told him this simply wasnt the case and produced a screenshot from my banks website showing that they had received our check almost a month before. He claimed there was nothing he could do because there was no way for him to open the store. (For those who have never had any exposure to accounting software like Quickbooks, every day you open the books for business and then close them at the end of the day. Dans argument here doesnt hold water though since plenty of service businesses run calls after normal business hours and on the weekend, and simply reconcile the books on Monday mornings.)After an hour of pleading with Dan to do the right thing and send someone to help us, I resigned myself to the fact that Southern States Culpeper was not going to live up to their obligations, despite the fact that the error had clearly been theirs, and told them to come pick up their propane tank. I couldnt stomach doing business with a company that would tell me my infant son had to go cold because their accounting department dropped the ball and their dispatch manager flat out didnt care.
Always helpful and kind!
Great customer service
