I should have taken a picture. But we were so hungry we just chowed down. I had the chicken fried with gravy and eggs with fried tomatos and toast. I live in cleveland ohio and let me tell you. This is the best breakfast Ive had in a long time. The sams special coffee was delicious. 10 times better then the bucks. Service was fantastic. If you are in Culver city... do yourself a solid and goooooo!!!!
S&W is a super cozy hole in the wall diner that reminded me of where I grew up in the south. The food was good but nothing amazing. The Louisiana hot links arent at all the country red hots that I expected, and the turkey sausage patties are a bit dry, but the pancakes were tasty. Service was speedy and attentive though the servers lacked personality. Overall decent experience and would return again.
Love this diner!! Its CASH ONLY, but that only adds to the 50s vibes & I totally love it!!The freshly handsqueezed lemonade is mouth watering good, the hash browns are a crunchy delight & the french toast is probably the best Ive had in Los Angeles!!
Important note: they accept Venmo or cash as the only options. Exactly what you expect from an old-fashioned diner. Old decor, vinyl booths, mix and match options of everything for breakfast. No frills or garnishes, just good and reliable. Eggs cooked just right, french toast and pancakes with the proper diner texture. You cant go wrong with this place.
Sidewalk eats...GreatWaitress was awfully nice 👌Food was okayProbably great for others
Wonderful and Tasty. 👏🙂
Cash only. It’s 2021. Get wid it Joe.
Great food, old-time diner ambiance, and awesome service!
Cute lil diner, rustic country vibes. Staff is friendly! Food was ok, my first time and think I got Huevos Ranchero which was ok. Pancakes were delish.
Have been coming to this local diner for the past two years and I love it. Food is always delicious, servers are super nice and the outdoor seating is lovely! I order pickup mostly these days and it’s just as good! Recommend for anyone looking for some delicious comfort food. Breakfast burrito is where it’s at.
Best in LA! Love the food the staff and the atmosphere.
This place was everything we were looking for a traditional American diner type breakfast everything was delicious including the biscuits and gravy and we really enjoyed how fresh and tender the biscuits were this is a cash only restaurant but I still highly recommended it.
Small, filled with quality and quantity. I ordered homemade corn beef hash, with cottage potatoes and 3 eggs over medium with sourdough bread. Potatoes were perfect but would require some s&p, eggs were cooked to a perfect medium(!!!!!), the hash was phenomenal yet real. The sourdough was the perfect companion to help push it all down. This was just a short waltz from the Toyota dealership on a quiet Tuesday morning.Side note: Hardly and grease or drippings, tasted very fresh, very economic on the wallet.
This is nice spot for a great breakfast. Theyve got it set up to eat outside, and everyone is mindful of covid19 precautions. Food portions are great, and everything I had was very tasty. The country sausage was especially good. The folks working were friendly, and attentive to whatever I needed. This is a two thumbs up.
They forgot to add something in the meal and when I told the waiter about it he was rude
Today was our first time visiting S&W.I was immediately impressed with the antique deco!Pancakes, eggs, bacon = food coma!Well be back!
Delicious Food!! Customer service is Great!!
Great spot for breakfast or lunch. Love the people that work here and the food is really good.
Absolutely outstanding food and service!!
Yum. Love this diner for breakfast. It’s got the vibes your looking for which is comfy and home comfort food in the morning. All the waitresses there are amazing, so friendly and outgoing and make you feel welcome like your sitting at home.
Good breakfast combos. I had eggs, Italian sausage, and a waffle, all for about $12. The sausage portion was generous. The eggs were a little past medium. But good. The waffle was crisp, but a little dry. Still, a pleasant place, friendly staff, good service.
S&W always has great food and they give excellent service. If you try it, youll like it.
My favorite breakfast in the area. The location is quaint and the eggs, bacon and French toast are fantastic. Definitely must go
Great breakfast burrito,,, w
Adorable diner with nostalgic decor. The food was amazing and the atmosphere is great. The portions are generous and the pricing is good. Highly recommend it. They are cash only, a very slight inconvenience but definitely worth it.
Great food. Affordable prices. Be advised it is cash only!!
We love this diner. Its cash only, so co.e prepared. The wait is never that long. Stick to the pancakes or waffles for your sweet tooth. The eggs are perfect, and their grits are darn good for the west coast. Feel free to ask for what you want if you dont see it exactly on the menu.
Pretty good. Had the home made corned beef hash. Was much better than many other places who make their own corned beef hash. Beware, they only take cash. Definitely worth another visit.
As long as you want a traditional American breakfast, for breakfast or lunch, S&W is the best option in the area. Eggs and bacon, or hot links, or hash browns, or a burger, or whatever meat option, along with pancakes, etc, are all good and come to the table relatively quickly. Good coffee and decaf are always brewed and ready to go.The service is cheerful, friendly, and efficient.I have been and will be back.
My wife and I split a club sandwich and onion rings. The food was very good. The service was excellent. I wish I had gotten the servers name. The menu looks great. I wish I could have tried everything. Rarely in Culver City...but will eat here again if I am!
This place used to be a good place to come and enjoy breakfast at a good price. Today waiter didn’t care to check if we had a spoon, sugar after bringing coffee. I ordered omelette and they did not make it with the sides I had asked for. It also had egg shell mixed with my spinach. Not once the waitress came to check up to see if I needed anything or to refill my cup of coffee. They were too busy on their phones texting.
Good comfort food and old time feel. But just one unisex restroom. real small cafe and was packed. Service was okay probably because they were so busy not rude or anything just was real quick liike.. definitely go back if we get in that area begin.
Food tastes like big mama made it. Delicious and filling. I have been since the late 90s and the taste is the same. Big pancakes, home potatoes, grits, patty sausage, the works, great breakfast place.
I love this place and so does my family. Im from the mid west and have no family in Los Angeles so its nice to go somewhere where they recognize and remember you. Family members have visited me several times over the last few years (from Indiana) and the first place they want to go is Country Diner. They love everything and especially the pancakes blueberry and plain and the real maple syrup. Last month I had two sets of relatives here and everyday they were here we started our day at Country Diner. We all enjoy the decor and ambiance and of course the friendly great service!
There is simply no place that captures the down home dining experience better for us transplants from the Midwest. It reminds me of the kind of place you might run into in upper Michigan, just with better food. The plates are honest, the prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and it is by far the most laid-back place in Culver. Just be aware that it is cash-only.Can not recommend highly enough.
Excellent Diner in a city that has very few places like it. Great service. Stellar food. Highly recommended for breakfast.
Love little diners like this. Good food, very good service. Taking off 1 star because they dont accept credit cards (cash only). As someone who rarely, if ever, carries cash, I dont want to have to make a special trip to the bank just to have breakfastThat said, theres a Chase bank right across the street.
A great casual breakfast spot in the Culver area. There is always a wait on the weekends and they only take cash, so be prepared for that. The staff is fairly nice and your food comes very quickly. The portions are large and very delicious. Im always very pleased with my omelets and will keep coming back. A great place to get a bit to eat before seeing a movie or wandering around downtown Culver.
This place is the best. Great food from an experienced waitstaff that always makes sure you have everything you need. Ive been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. Best hash and eggs in town. Bring cash, as they do not take credit cards. The food is worth the inconvenience.
Im a regular and love coming here for breakfast. Eggs are always perfect. The servers are awesome and always attentive. Every item on the menu is delish and and it would take years to try everything.
The diner is a popular spot in Culver/Palms. Theres often a line for this small and simple diner. You get a little more than the basics here. The quality of the bacon is good and the service friendly. The biscuit though was not great and lacked salt or something. Slather some jam and youll be okay. A nice spot to grab a simple breakfast in the downtown Culver area.
Good god I love this place. Whenever I get the chance, it has to be done. Perfect get in, and enjoy vibe to it. Great menu for a great price with even better food and service.
Great food!
Its nostalgic. Good service, large portions but pricey breakfast menu. So search for specials and bring a friend to help you lick the plate. Casual dress. Strong coffee. Cash only.
When you find a little slice of Oklahoma with a dollop of hipster on top...love the hell out of this place.
I love this country diner. The waiters are all friendly and helpful. It has a great southern atmosphere. And they serve all the staples of southern eating! Be prepared for a wait on the weekends.
Great food, definitely worth the drive. Prices are not bad good portions. Has a family atmosphere.
Ive been meaning to check this place out for a while, and finally found some time to give it a sampling. Conveniently located a block from one of downtown Culvers parking structures (2 hours free), I was able to walk to S&W and be seated at the counter within minutes. The menu selection is standard for a breakfast / lunch diner, and the Country Chicken and Waffle breakfast I ordered was pretty good. Along with grits, coffee, and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, it was a hearty and tasty breakfast. Service was good, and the staff seemed friendly enough (for a busy Saturday afternoon), and the decor is interesting, to say the least. Overall, a good place to keep in my back pocket for days when I dont feel like making the journey to my usual breakfast spot all the way in Santa Monica.
Great ... as always. Been going for decades. Feels like home made food. Quirky and fun.
A very casual dinner, with kitch. Cash ONLY. The food was good with a home cooked quality. The service was great. We will be back to try some other items.
Consistently great!
I love the staff here. They are all really nice and seem like they could all be in a punk band together.
S&W is a perfect place to go for a simple uncomplicated cafe style of food. Nothing screams at you to pay attention, simply good food.Bring CASH!.No plastic accepted.Enjoy
One waitress was wonderful: attentive and friendly. Food was good just a little pricey and then overcharged.
CASH ONLY!!!The food was good and the service was fast. We went on a Sunday morning and only waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The place is cute and the food is tasty.
Delicious, cash only diner. Servers are very nice. The food is really good. I always find myself bringing friends from out of town here.
Cozy country style diner with great options. Was looking for great pancakes, got great pancakes. Cash only.
Great food! Great prices! The staff is Wonderful and treats you like an old friend or one of the family!
Come on in if you want a delicious fresh breakfast. Average diner prices for decent sized portions. Great retro decor and ambiance. A great restaurant for sitting and having a cup of coffee too!
Very cozy and delicious food. My first time there and fast service, staff was good.
It great place to go get county food. M mmm good.
Great sense of nostalgia. Food was simply ok, customer service was top notch. Opened promptly, smiling faces and felt sincerity from the staff! They are cash only which is surprising but there are several banks (Chase, Bank of America & Wells Fargo) no further than a block away.
Pretty nice breakfast place . Staff are good. Pan cakes and waffles are awesome. You get that local LA feel here. Only Cash accepted though.
Very good food, the breakfast menu is a little confusing and they only take cash which is not the most convenient but keeps them tru to their original diner concept. Great portion sizes and the eggs are delicious.
Great place to grab a quick bite for breakfast. Portions are more than enough. Definitely a repeat place.
This place has been a staple for years and the food is good. However, we order a custom breakfast burrito each morning for our boss and each and every single time we do so were greeting with the worst customer service Ive ever experienced at a restaurant. Multiple employees answer the phone and are similarly curt. They give off the impression that Im wasting their time. I just dont feel comfortable ordering from here. Weve since stopped and gone to another local place that offers breakfast burritos, hold the attitude.
Good food, but be careful with the prices. Added pancakes, which appeared to be an option of the breakfast, but was not so my bill went to 21 dollars? Was a small breakfast, really felt cheated
Love the food, and the prices are perfect for the portion sizes. The ambience is kitchy and old school. The wait staff help each other out which is very much needed on busy mornings. The only negative is that they are cash only.
Food not done got ill from it
This is the best spot in Culver City for a CASH ONLY dinner meal. Staff is great and hustle all the time. I have been coming for 20 Years and I love it.
Great old school diner. Yummy breakfast. Try the mushroom, spam and American cheese omelette.
I was one of the very first customers in on a Sunday morning and only ordered to go. I left to go get coffee and came back and my food wasn’t ready. Nearly an hour later I finally got my food (my coffee in the car now cold). During the wait not one person gave me an update, offered me a water coffee or anything UNTIL I started flagging the servers down asking why people who came in long after me were eating and I was still standing there. I was told only one cook showed up. I can understand these situations, but I don’t understand me having to search out someone to actually look into my order and no one taking charge and telling the kitchen crew the order the meals should be coming out. I’ve been here once before and had a decent experience, but this was awful. I gave it a two star rating (rather than 1) because in the end they didn’t charge me for my meal even though I tried to pay for what I ordered.
Really quaint little diner. Food was good, but needed a little more salt. But fabulous portions, kind waitstaff and overally great experience!
Best breakfast place in Culver City great service great food love it
Classic diner in Culver City. Ive eaten here countless times and the food is rock solid reliable. Tons of options, everything Ive tried was really good. Cash only, but theres an ATM across the street.
As a born n bred Southerner, I can vouch for the high quality of this Southern comfort food. Biscuits and gravy are fantastic, grits are perfect.HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Best diner food in Culver City. Coffee is good diner coffee. Eggs are cooked right. The pancakes are heavenly. But cash only? Really? The constant reminders and stream of people confused and trying to pay with cards is maddening. Turkey sausage is also a pass, get the corned beef hash.
Good food at a good price. Nice little neighborhood dive for breakfast or lunch. Not sure how they stay in business in this high rent district but support these small businesses as they are disappearing in redeveloped areas.
Funky (is that still used?), but fine for a quick meal. Breakfasts are good, but average. For lunch I love their turkey sandwich. Wait staff are fun. Grab a coffee from the corner Starbucks and bring a book and newspaper for the wait.
They were able to accommodate a large group last minute. Great food, huge portions, great service
I like their fried chicken breasts but the sides arent my favorite. Utensils were not clean. Theres room for improvement.
Breakfast was great, reminded me of home. Could be a little cleaner and service a little faster but the French toast was phenomenal!!
Its a good diner. The food and service are solid. The one drawback is it is cash only, so beware.
Its a reap off $15 for pancakes, bacon and 2 eggs plus the prices are different in the restaurant from the internet, very sad food the bacon is like plastic band, pancakes are very dry test like super old. I will NEVER go back.
Food and service were good. Based on the dust stuck to parts of the wall and the decorations, its pretty clear their air filters need some serious cleaning. Staff/management should pay more attention to such details.
Our regular Sunday morning go-to for breakfast. If it didnt require a car ride it would be just like going down to grandmas kitchen for breakfast. Love the folks, too. So friendly and welcoming. They treat us like family.
Huge tasty portions! The omlette comes with lots of extras, you can definitely split between 2 people.
A small and clean country diner that except cash only. Update your payment selection. The receipts for payment was confusing. Hard to read the writing. Very crowded on the weekend. The seating are to close together. A little over priced, but the food was good. Parking around this area is tough to fine, but if you do find some most are free.
Been here twice for brunch now. Staff are lovely and the food is great. Try the country chicken. Huge portions too!
I love this place! Its a solid diner experience, and the food is both delicious and affordable. Plus, the wait staff is always very friendly.
I usually come to this place on Weekends to treat myself with brunch. Food is delicious and inexpensive. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They only accept cash a payment and there is a small waiting on weekends .
