Big servings of food and delicious! The waitress was so sweet and made sure everything was perfect for us. I got the strawberry waffles (about $10). Things are definitely reasonably priced for the amount you get.We sat outside, which was very pleasant and clean. The inside looked fairly cramped and outdated, and was very full as expected on a Sunday morning. No social distancing here but most of the waiters wear masks.Overall I would definitely recommend this place. It has all of the comfort food one could want!
We came here for brunch after my triathlon. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, service was also really good. The only thing was the food was so bland and lacked any defining quality about it. I have been here years before and dont remember it being like that. I think the only thing I remotely enjoyed were the biscuits with gravy. My son liked his milkshake and my mom said her sandwich was OK. My omelet tasted pretty boring and bland. Again, nothing special here. If you are staying down the street at a hotel and need some food than its a decent place to go to. I most likely wont be back though.
This place is an old fashioned dine in experience. It has a nice comfy feel in it. Very friendly staff. I witnessed an employee disinfecting menus the whole time we were there which is nice to see. Clean. The food portions are very generous so keep that in mind. Prices are so so. Some things a little pricey but considering the portion I call it fair. They have pies for sale and keep some in the circulating pie case which is cool, it adds to the whole true diner experience. I enjoyed my visit there and would go back.

No complaints. A hidden mom and pop diner. I had the ‘Moms Meatloaf’ and it was really good. Sides were good too. Waffle was so fluffy. Slice of pecan pie really hit the nostalgia nerve. The ambiance was just what you’d expect from a popular diner.

From The moment we walked in the workers were friendly and helpful. We noticed that they all work together as a team and had a desire to make sure every customer was satisfied. We said it the bar area in front of the grill to watch all the different food orders that was being made It was nice and pleasant.

Walked in around 1p today for a quick brunch for myself between errands. Stood inside the doors for a couple minutes and was never greeted; looked around, tried to spot a seat at the counter possibly since I was a party of one, and tried to make eye contact with any staff member. Several servers walked by with empty hands but no one stopped. A gentleman walked in to my left so that he was actually blocking the doorway. Immediately a staff member asked How many?, he replied One, and he was seated in a booth directly to my right. I stood for another minute, kept looking around, raised my eyebrows, and left. I realize I was a party of one, but my table for one-ness was not less visible or valuable than the party of one who was seated immediately. It is fantastic that Market Diner was bustling on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, but it really gets exhausting to be overlooked. I totally understand how Mia felt in The Princess Diaries and I probably should have just started singing Catch a Falling Star once I got back to my truck. Maybe Ill just start a discrimination against parties of one party......of one, of course.
Had a great lunch with friends. I live a eggs Benedict but they had a dish called Sams Benedict. Came with sausage instead of ham and was topped with cheese. Hashbrowns were cooked just right. Would stop by again if in area.
The American Diner is alive and well on Harry Hines. Yes there is a Pie Carousel as you enter.Breakfast all day. Awesome biscuits. Great choices.

The place is cute, but the seating is so close together! The food was definitely good. I enjoyed the pancakes mostly. My husband said his chicken fried steak was overcooked, but not too bad. The place really needs a deep cleaning, but otherwise its good!

Went here on Saturday morning at 9am. We were seated immediately. I had the French Toast with eggs, grits, and Turkey sausage. My boyfriend had chicken fried steak with eggs, hashbrowns, and biscuits w gravy. Everything was good and after breakfast we split a vanilla shake. We left full and satisfied.
The service was great and fast even though the diner was almost full. We had breakfast. It was perfectly cooked. It will DEFINITELY be our go-to breakfast place when we come back every 3 months.
(Hit like button) let me say first that the food is very good! The food taste fresh, it’s hot, has a quality taste, hands down It was good! I did have an issue with the customer service which is why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 5. So when we got in, no one was there to tell us to wait to be seated or to seat ourselves. I asked a waitress and she informed us to seat ourselves. Then, she said let me get some menus, but never came back with menus. I had to ask someone else to bring us a menu. On top of that, a couple came in after us and got menus before we did. Then, I ordered biscuits with gravy, then ordered a second order of biscuits for my food but the waitress brought out additional cornbread and rolls with the second order of biscuits. I was like “she could have informed me that bread comes with the table. Lastly, it took the waitress 3 times coming back and forth to the table to bring me a straw. I kept reminding her and each time she came back, she forgot (until the 3rd time). Once again the food is delicious but I wasn’t too happy with the service.

Decent place. The reviews fooled me, however it wasn’t the worst experience. The hash brown was good. The waffle taste like a complimentary waffle at the hotel.
Waffles and pecan pie were delicious! Friendly atmosphere. Chicken tenders left a lot to be desired though, which was the disappointment of the “chicken and waffles”.

Absolutely amazing. Mrs. Doris is an exceptional person! She brought our drinks and took our order in less than 5 minites of being there. Smade sure we were good the entire time we were there. The food was the delicious. Portions were more than enough! We definitely will be back!
We finally got to eat here today.... yes has been on my list of must go to restaurants in Dallas for a long time ! OMD did not let me down. So clean. Such friendly wait staff and the food. Welll. Yum ! I went with my first choice (if there is no Reuben) of a Patty Melt and wow. So good. My honey had a grilled turkey with slaw that he loved. The pickles were tart and crisp. The coffee was strong and flavourful. The onion rings were hot and crispy. Next time I want the home made chips though. I saw them on another table and they looked so good !

Oh man I got the Sam Benedict and it was amazing. My eggs were perfect. My gf got eggs and biscuits and neither of us really eat white gravy but theirs was really good and those biscuits were so light and fluffy omg when I decide to learn how to make biscuits that is the biscuit I aspire to

This place is a hidden gem. Or maybe I have only just discovered it! The seats are a little cramped on one side of the booth. The tables dont move, so it was a little uncomfortable. The portions are nice, huge actually and so very tasty. Our waitress was so kind and attentive. She brought the food fast and it was hot. Our drinks were filled regularly and she checked in with us often. The ambience is the true old diner feel. We will be back to try some other traditional comfort breakfast classics. Just lovely!
Food was good but service was a little slow which was to be expected for a busy Saturday morning. I do feel the waitress could have been a little more attentive because it was hard to get her to stay for 2 seconds after she would stop at the table. Overall it was a good experience and I would come here again.

Party of 7 and only a 20 min wait. Place is small and TIGHT! They squeezed a table in every available section. There is no waiting area, so you are either outside or inside standing at the door watching everyone eat. In fact if you are standing inside your probably standing over someone table 😩. Anyway, the food was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly. No one complained. I ordered french toast, cheese eggs, bacon, tomato slices and grits. They have us an extra hash brown, so I are half. We were food watching and everyone food looked good, especially the lunch/dinner food.
Frustrated. I ordered the fried catfish and I received croquettes of some sort. I’m in town due to a sick loved one. I don’t have the luxury of traveling back and forth to get my correct order. My suggestion...don’t close off the bag until the customer verifies they are getting what they ordered. I am eating the food, and it’s not bad, but it’s also not what I ordered.

While we got seated relatively fast we definitely waited over 45min after asking about our food!The waitress was inept at best and the way of our bills was given to where we were being charged for a food that we ordered but didn’t get it, I asked to remove the additional portion and the manager was thinking I didn’t want to pay my bill!If I had to eat in this location again then I would much rather drive back to San Antonio and eat there before eating at Original Market Diner.
A cool little diner that gives you the feel of what a diner should feel like. The food portions are humongous and was just what you’d expect from a diner.
Ive been to this place two times and both times each server has been very attentive. The food is really good, the prices are inexpensive and the menu has alot to choose from. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Upon entering, we were greeted and directed to our booth where we walked by a rack of delectably tempting cakes and pies. Our server greeted us with a beautiful smile and took our order. Her attention to us was admirable and a much welcomed presence. She knew exactly when I need more coffee. The food was wonderful and the cozy atmosphere was welcoming. A definite return when I visit Dallas again.

Not quite sure where the outstanding reviews come from for this place. The waitress forgot to get my coffee until I reminded her when the food came. The bacon was cooked too hot and was tough, and the rangers omelette was disgusting. I had the privilege of paying 22 dollars for a meal here when I could go to an original house of pancakes and get better food for half the price. I guess it has a cool vibe. Not sure if that’s really worth it.

Greeted with a smile. Did not have to wait long. The Biscuits and gravy breakfast was GREAT! I substituted the sausage for chicken in the gravy because I do not eat pork! The chicken was chopped up in the gravy very well not left in big chunks or given to you whole like some other places!! The scrambled eggs where cooked perfectly and the hashbrowns where not over cooked! I will DEFINITELY be coming back!! I all tasted wonderful! O and all that for less than 10$!
The Original Market Diner was my go to breakfast stop for years when I worked near by, also lunch at least twice a week. I wish I could make it more often these days. Its nice to know that somethings dont change because they got it right the first time.
Delicious home-cooked breakfast! The Feta cheese omelet was enormous and so good. And the coffee just about perfect. The portions are large, the service is friendly the food is wonderful. We will be back next time we are in town!
Rustic diner with pretty good food. We were seated quickly, staff were very pleasant, and the food came pretty fast. It was busy, so there could be a wait during peak times. Parking shouldnt be an issue. The prices are reasonable, so you wont break the bank. Its one of the better breakfast places Ive been to, but not the best. If I lived local, Id come back. I really enjoyed the coffee. If you like pies, you might want to check this place out.
